2.
Originally posted by Circéus I'll start it off by asking what does mean when using "ballistic" for a person?
I think, if you "go ballistic", it just means suddenly getting very violent towards something/someone. Interesting thread topic... I could help with Japanese (yes, beyond basic vocabulary -_-), though I'm not very knowledgeable on very informal speech. I know there's an actual Japanese speaker around here somewhere, I'm sure he could probably be of a bit more use than I.
 3. First Porno Graffitti fansite in English. I also built fully functional (and quite good-looking) replicas of Crow and Tom Servo. I'm pretty proud of that.

 7. The sanctity of marriage was beaten to death a long time ago. Even from a religious standpoint I can't understand how letting gays getting married would be any worse than what we already have now. People get married in a big drunken stupor and then they get divorced the next day - you're telling me this is any better than two men/women getting married?
 8.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve Anyway, how about that group Favorite Blue....
Speaking of whom, I'll trade you READY STEADY GO (CD quality) for that megamix we spoke of earlier...
 9.
Originally posted by DeathBug So, if you went to Burger King, and they had the Golden Retriever Quarter pounder, would you eat it?
Assuming golden retriever tastes good, you bet I would. If it's safe to eat and tastes good, I really don't care what animal it comes from.
 10.
Originally posted by lava lamp An ellipsis is commonly three periods, by the way. Thumbs up.
Actually, the four period thing is sort of an inside thing we did a long time ago. So it's not out of blatant stupidity or anything.

 15. "The Celebrity I Would Like to be for a Day" by wrist cutter When I was posed the question, "What celebrity would you like to be for a day?", it didn't take me long to make a decision. Maybe it was because I was listening to L'Arc~en~Ciel at the time, but the first person to come to mind was vocalist Hyde. He's not the most admirable person, nor is he even the coolest member of the band; but nonetheless, if I could be any celebrity for a day, I won't hesitate to name Hyde as the one. L'Arc~en~Ciel has provided a ray of sunlight in an otherwise bleak winter. After a three-year wait, listening to the same set of songs over and over, they have finally decided to return, and once again provide us with great, new music. Even though it's not due for release for a few days yet, I've been listening to their newest, "READY STEADY GO", for several weeks non-stop now. It's not so much that it's the greatest song ever made, but that it's finally something new from a music group I love so much. My passion for the band has been quickly and completely reignited. It goes without saying that they are my favorite band, and that they create what I feel is the best music I've ever heard. But why Hyde? Why not any of the other infinitely cool members? Guitarist Ken IS my favorite of the group after all. But nonetheless, my choice rests on Hyde. His voice, his looks, his persona, his status, everything makes me almost envious of him. Ken may be cool, but his life is just not one I'd want to lead - I'll leave that up to him. But with Hyde, I'm quite interested in seeing what a day in his shoes would be like. The most obvious reason would be simply because of his voice. If you had heard this man sing, I really wouldn't need to explain. He has such a strong, bold voice, one that can almost make you melt as you listen to a ballad like "anata". At the same time he is fully capable of using a falsetto tone, adding a soft, delicate touch to songs like "the silver shining". Like Hyde I enjoy singing a lot, but like most people I can only aspire to be like him. If there's any one reason why I'm jealous of Hyde, it's his amazing voice. In fact, just today I watched the "GRAND CROSS CONCLUSION" video. This video is the final concert of their GRAND CROSS tour from 1999, considered to be the golden year for the band. In the second song they play, "HONEY", it's almost painful to listen to him sing. I don't know if it's because the tour had been so strenuous or if he just didn't warm up enough, but he really struggles with this song and a few of the following ones. His voice is very rough and even off-key sometimes. By watching these first few songs of the video, almost anyone would come to the conclusion that he's not a very good singer at all. But as the concert went on, he got better and better. From the desperate "fate", or the fun and upbeat "Caress of Venus", his improved vocals hit every note perfectly. By the end of the concert, as they conclude with a beautiful rendition of their hit "Pieces", Hyde gives perhaps his best performance of the whole tour. Words can simply not describe how well he sings this song; it's perhaps even more powerful live than it is on CD. It's performances like these that make me realize that he really is a great vocalist. While he doesn't exactly have a "keen" fashion sense, Hyde is certainly the best looking of the group. His looks have attracted many female fans to the band, even in their early days when he looked like a woman himself. Over the years however, his image changed with the music and has taken on a more masculine look, and now he looks entirely normal. He may be 36 years old and a father, but he's managed to capture youth and he doesn't look a day older than 25. Like any man I certainly wouldn't mind having legions of girls attracted to me, so this comes as a special bonus to his voice. It's another significant reason why I would enjoy living a day in Hyde's life. Even though he probably likes having so many fans as well, Hyde hasn't let success go to his head too much. He's made many remarks about his crush on the celebrity Megumi Ooishi, and received a lot of jokes about it in return. But on Christmas Day, 2000, he was lucky enough to have his dream come true, and he married her. Even more recently, it's been announced that the two have had a child. It was kept very quiet and few details are known, but it's not necessarily everyone's business anyway. It's clear that, despite having so many choices, Hyde is happy to be only with his wife. Finally, he's the vocalist of L'Arc~en~Ciel. Need I say more? It would be awesome just to SEE these guys, let alone be a part of them. Imagine the amount of bragging I'd be able to do if I were to meet and play with these wonderfully gifted musicians. Ever since I've been into them, it's always been a dream of mine to eventually see them in concert, which would probably be a fairly common dream with most people and their favorite bands. But if I were Hyde for a day, it would be so much more involved than just being a spectator at a concert. It's truly an unimaginable experience. Over anyone else, Hyde is definitely the person I would like to be for a day. To have his voice, to be in his shoes – it's an experience I wouldn't be able to get with anyone else I could select. The choice, for me, was very obvious when I initially saw the question. I never hesitated, but reached an answer quickly. I am sure that Hyde would be the best person to live as for a day. 20. I found a solution to the problem addressed here... and as far as I can tell nobody else has so I hope I'm not repeating common knowledge by now or anything. The problem is that sqllineerror stuff, which I just recently got for seemingly no reason. There were only two steps I took. 1) Deleted myOtaku's cookies in my browser. 2) Cleared my browser's memory and disk cache. That cleared it right up. I went back to myOtaku, logged in, and the problem's gone now...

 23.
Originally posted by lava lamp Anyway, can any of you relate? Do any of you feel as if you are the "owners" of a genre/band/etc. you're interested in? How do you get by with accepting the fact that other [stupid, insignificant, inferior] people like it too?
I definitely can relate. Last year, I knew this guy who was a total '80s metalhead. He loved KISS, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, you name it. I saw a prime opportunity here, and so I told him about X JAPAN, gave him a CD (and several more throughout the year) and he became a huge X fan by this year anyway. So we're cool. I know him fairly well so I've no problem with this. Then another guy, who has heard us talking about X, wants to hear them too. I burn him some CDs, he turns into a fan. But here's where it gets tricky, because now more people want to hear X... and I don't want that! I want to be the one distributing the CDs, being seen as the X authority (as stupid as that is). I'm guessing this sort of feeling is what you're talking about... Occasionally, while browsing other forums, I'll see people talking about bands I like... which is fine. But then some newbie to the band will come in, ask for recommendations, and some guy recommends all these songs that aren't that great. That kind of thing gets to me too; it's like, "look, I'm obviously a bigger fan than you, let me do the recommending." For me this extends beyond music though... Anyway... I'm hoping that's the sort of the thing you're talking about. And with the lyrics thing, I honestly don't care either way.
 24. Transtic Nerve and I made a band called METOLIUS. We're still working out the details. But you can be assured we're better than all of you.
 25.
Originally posted by Sweet Pie Anyone know Utada Hikaru? I don't quite like her. To me she's a little arrogant but her voice is okay....agree or not, up to you...
Utada Hikaru? Who??? Seriously now... The arrogant comment seems a little out of place considering she really doesn't make a lot of public appearances. If anything she's quite humble. But I don't like her voice and am generally not a huge fan of her music, though some of it's pretty good.
