1. We're also ignoring the fact that a lot of girls are complaining about being fat just to be like everyone else. I'm not saying anorexia doesn't exist, I'm just saying they're the ones who actually have problems. Stop blaming the media. I don't want ugly people on TV any more than you do. But the trend is to call yourself "fat" these days among girls. Very few of them actually do anything about it (and a lot of them are fat anyway, if you're living in America). I don't see how we can blame the media. The people who have problems with anorexia and such generally have bigger issues going on than just watching too much TV. Nearly everyone else is just bitching to blend in and get attention.
 2.
And yet when a dog gets hit by a car and has it's leg broken it howls in pain, all creatures have pain receptors, all creatures are aware of pain otherwise they wouldn't cry/howl/what have you when it happens, just because they doon't say "God damn this hurts" doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.
Thanks for totally restating what someone said before. I know damn well animals have pain receptors, I already said that. What do you think my baby example was all about? Babies crying when hurt. So no **** animals have pain receptors.
Are you saying then the animals such as the Hump-backed Whale which sings while it swims to attract others of its kind is doing what exactly ? Hmm I'll just make this noise for absolutely no reason and then be amazed that more of my kind just shows up for no reason.
Um, no, of course he's not thinking that because my whole point is that animals are too stupid to think. Ever heard of Darwin? Humpback whale is just making noise because it has been doing it for thousands of years and it needs to perpetuate its species. It wouldn't be amazed, because the whole point of making the noise is to grab the attention of a female. But the fact that every single humpback whale does this demonstrates that it's purely instinctual. If humpback whales had unique ways of attracting mates, it might actually demonstrate thought. But they don't.
Just because an animal doesn't speak your language or communicate through the same terms as you do doesn't mean it's not intelligent or self-aware. As for your baby point of course it felt pain, your words exactly were "Obviously you felt the pain, because you cried[/I']" are you seriously trying to convince us that feeling pain and being hurt are completely unrelated in everything bar children capable of speech ? If you are, then that is just completely ludicrous.
Animals aren't intelligent or self-aware. At least chickens anyways. I mean, there are some "smart" monkeys and whatnot, but the vast majority of animals don't even realize they exist. I'm not saying anything about speech. Go back to my baby example. Because you were hurt from the doctor putting a needle in you, you responded by making a sound. But what did it feel like? Nothing. And if you died a minute later, you would've never known you or the pain existed. That is the state that chickens and most animals live in. You're all looking at this in terms of human pain. Chickens do not experience pain in the same way we do. YES I KNOW THEY HAVE PAIN RECEPTORS. But animals are little more than bundles of responses and instinct.
 3.
This sort of thing makes me lose faith in people as a whole lol.
Losing faith in humanity isn't really a laughing matter lol.
It's a fact that serial killers and the like started by being cruel to animals, and eventually worked their way to humans. So saying that hurting an innocent animal doesnt compare to hurting a child is way off actually...
I suppose you think DOOM is to blame too?
Of course animals FEEL. they have pain receptors exactly like we do. seriously, that's just completely stupid to say something like that. No, they don't think "bashing me against a wall for no reason is a violation of my rights" but the pain of being bashed against a wall and having bones broken registers... i'd imagine they think something along the lines of "oh holy **** this hurts" but that's just a guess. ;)
No, they don't think "oh holy **** this hurts". They don't think ANYTHING, and that's where all of you who are up in arms are off track. You're caught up in the mindset of a human, where reality to animals is totally different. My point wasn't that they don't have pain receptors, it's that the really don't have much awareness of what's happening around them. Re-read my baby example. Obviously you felt the pain, because you cried, but did it really hurt? Imagine if you died three minutes later. You would have never really had any knowledge of your existence, really, and thus the pain was insignificant.
 4.
I simply believe that I do not know what shall happen when I die and thus I am not going to concern myself with it - instead, whatever happens when I die shall happen - whether it be I go to hell, heaven, or I just cease to exist.
While I'm all for apathy, this type of approach presents a problem. If indeed heaven and hell do exist, no one would end up in heaven. But that's just hypothetically speaking.
 5.
For the people who dont have parents that care, you end up growing a stronger person.
It's exactly because my parents care that they don't babysit my *** through college.
As for this that is someones own choice, and not for you to critize. If people make mistakes, that is there problem but they dont need you to voice your views on it. Period.
And I don't need you voicing your views about me voicing my views.
 6.
How would you think animals would feel being treated like **** because they're a sort of "lower being"?
They don't feel. They don't think "Well gee, this sucks. Hey, could you stop smacking me against a wall? It's a violation of my rights." You're acting like they're just humans that can't talk. Stop acting like humanity has degraded to the point where all we do is go around torturing chickens. Like this is the first instance in human history where we've tortured animals. What about all the tortures performed on humans throughout history? Why aren't you concerned at all about that? Heaven forbid we hurt a damn chicken though.
 7.
I think that if your parents are setting unreal goals for you then you need to sit down with them and tell them that you just can't work at that level.
But the problem is often that they CAN work at that level, they just don't want to exude the extra effort. This is demonstrated by quite a few posts in this thread.
 8.
a person who can be cruel to an innocent animal could easily do it to a child or another person.
As if there are guilty animals? That's quite an overstatement. How you treat animals is entirely different from how you treat people.
 9.
It's funny because my parents are always waiting for me to SCREW up. Everything I do, is wrong.
Yes, I'm sure that's exactly what they're doing.
I'm not a good student, I didn't get A's and B's in Highschool (i still dont and im a senior) basically enough to get me by, and I hate how everyone feels that the only way you can succeed is by going to college.
It is. Succeed like any normal person, anyway.
I think they expected me to be a straight A person and be prom queen..I probably could have to be honest. But its just not me, not who i am, not who i want to be. I'm not a super-model, im not a valley girl, I'm not the smartest person, and I'm not the most althetic person either.
My question is: who the hell cares 'who' you are? Just get good grades, it's not bending your belief system to study harder and turn in your assignments.
i have to work for my own car, i have to work for my apartment
Like everyone else? Boohoo.
 10.
There is no hell, and heaven is right here on earth.
I think that's about the most depressing thing I've ever read. You sound like Belinda Carlisle.
 11.
How about another example. A boy finds a wounded bird on the road. He picks it up, and takes it home. He the sets it's broken wing on fire. After extinguishing it, he crushes its body with a brick, and then kicks its [presumably dead] body into the garden.
Say, I think I've done that once before. Good times.
The only difference between humans and animals is we have "morals."
Don't you think you're selling us a bit short? We're the only being on the planet with Broca's area, meaning we're the only beings endowed with the ability to form original speech (so this doesn't include parrots, since they only mimick speech). On top of that, consider this: did it hurt when you got shots as a baby? "Of course it did you moron, that's why I cried!!" I see. What did it feel like? Animals pretty much live their lives like that.
 12. KFC sounds pretty good right now, actually. Please add more thought to your responses wrist cutter. If it doesn't add to the discussion at hand please don't post it. -Panda
 13. High school is nothing. Life only gets shittier, so kill yourselves now. Please add more to your responses. Explaining why you feel high school is nothing would be a good start. Short posts like your response are considered spam. -Panda
 14.
Here's a question for anyone who feels like answering. If God does exist, why haven't we seen Him?
Wouldn't that make things too easy? And for once I'm not being sarcastic.
 15. God has blessed you indeed. Would you mind killing me as a sacrafice to Him, by the way?
 16.
But the huge thing that struck me, was I was going to be making $300 a week, if I got the job.
WTF. What are they having you doing? That's insane. Even if I work 40 hours a week at my job I don't make that kind of pay.
 17.
Ive realized that you love those words... lol. But to stay on topic, there are alot of bands I enjoy very much. But I have one that if you dont like this person, you are crazy. And that person is John Mellencamp. He is a classic rock God. He is really one of my heroes in real life. His music is so amazing, there really are no words to describe it. I also like The Who, GNR, Zepplin, etc. But Mellencamp has got to be my favorite classic rocker.
I've only heard one Mellencamp song and it makes me want to kill myself. Granted that doesn't take much, but nonetheless it's a song that I think is absolutely awful. I shouldn't judge artists on one song, it's just my opinion, yadda yadda, but nonetheless I absolutely abhor that song. I don't know the name of it, but it's the really annoying one that they play on the radio sometimes.
 18.
So to that extent it's not so much "You are what you wear.[/I']"
SARCASM. that is all.
 19. At my high school, nobody gave a ****. You had Mexicans and non-Mexicans, who were split mostly because of the language barrier. But within these groups I didn't feel like there was a huge distinction. A few people tried really hard to fit into a label (because you are what you wear, after all), but nobody cared in the end because we know it's all ******** that doesn't matter. People go on and on about how they're labelled and what not (shown by the fact we get a topic like this at least once a month) and yet maybe if you weren't trying so hard to fit into that label you wouldn't be, duh.
 20.
Not being able to see? to hear the person? to know EXACTLY what is going through their mind? is very hard. In a way, a long distance relationship is doomed to fail even before it begins? but try having a long distance relationship, when you know those around you at home would not approve. It?s like a knife being thrown into your side, and each day, someone turns the knife just a little more. You try to convince yourself the feelings you have are not real, because you?ve never seen the person? you try to convince yourself that life would be a lot easier if you don?t let your heart get involved. But the heart has a mind of its own. It likes to creep up on situations like these, and make things impossible to live through. While on the one hand, you have that person to talk to? you have the person who makes your life worth living? the person who lets you be the person you want to be? the person you really are inside? this person understands everything about you, and still can?t find it in himself to judge you for any of it? But on the other hand? you are dangling from the tops of a cliff, and the only thing you have to hold on to is a tiny piece of thread. That thread can break, destroying your life, at any given moment. And you wait for that day? and you fear it with all your heart. You wish things would turn out for the better? you hope to God that you will get to actually meet the person you love? but in the end, it?s all false hopes? and all you can do is live in the moment, and hope that you will never have to leave. The thought of losing that special person kills you a little each day. The pain is immense? While the pain is sharper than anything, you find that you cannot let the fear rule your life? that you have to be there for that person? you realize then how much you actually love that person. And you can?t imagine your life without him. Do I think it will work out? well that doesn?t even matter anymore. All I do know? is that I want to be with this person more than anything. And while it breaks my heart that we may never be anything more than this? I can?t find it in myself to let him go. And so I know? that I will forever be longing for something I can't have. But I can?t give up.
Way to totally overdramatize everything. I've bolded the parts I thought were particularly tacky.
 21.
Does anyone here remember Kazuko, or have any idea how I could contact him now? He was a great guy.
http://www.otakuboards.com/member.php?find=lastposter&f=12 Unless this is a different Kazuko, he wasn't really hiding...
 22. I think I originally signed up to Otakuboards under the name "zanza". That was so long ago the account doesn't even exist anymore. I masqueraded as Transtic Nerve's little sister who didn't know any English. It didn't last very long. I used this name a bit later to be more like I am today, and then disappeared back into anonymity. After that brief appearance I returned some time later under the name "white out". This time I was Transtic Nerve's really hot, girly girlfriend. Didn't last very long though. Then about 7 months later I finally signed up with this name and I've been the same lovable wrist cutter ever since. So I win.
 23.
q. What's the easiest way to get a woman to stop having sex? a. marry her.
What food is has proven to lower a woman's sex drive to nothing? Wedding cake. I love those.
 24. Get "Disintegration" by The Cure. It's excellent for all occasions. Or if you're feeling a little more... suicidal, try "Pornography".
 25.
That was even funnier than wrist cutter's post. How do you do it?
That's it - I've been outdone. I'm ruined. It's all over. Oh, and as for the topic, just don't get pregnant. If you get an STD that's cool though because you probably had it coming.
