1. I think ShyGuy was mainly talking relationships, serious ones. And I can see where he's coming from.
2. The wait is over. Janne Da Arc, the band whose members have been caught at their silliest in my sig for the past few weeks, has finally released their new single entitled "MARIA no tsumeato", which means "Maria's Traces". None of you probably know Janne Da Arc but do you have to? There's two small clips provided in my sig if you want to hear this awesome song, created by an equally awesome band. On the official site, also linked in my sig, there's plenty more media files in case you're interested in them. And you should be! They're great.
3. I think it'd be kind of strange, myself.
4. This'll get closed but I'll squeeze in a quick definition. otaku: nerd, geek, obsessive... any of those. However it is also used when speaking of someone else's house. Yes it is an honorable term, but Japanese tend to 'honor' people more often than we do. For more in-depth meaning... yeah, go to the other post.
5.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve It does mean that as well. However, Japanese is not a language of certanty. Some words have several different meanings depending on how they are used and alot of "ancient" meanings as well. Otaku used for "you" and "house" are not used in great depth anymore, and when refering to anime, Otaku means the nerd/geek meaning.
Well, otaku is mainly used when calling up a friend or something. Let's say I'm calling up Tetsu, heh heh... "moshi moshi" "moshi moshi. ogawa no otaku desu ka?" "sou." "tetsuya ga imasu ka?" ...and so forth. A phonecall is about the most common time I can think of when otaku, meaning 'your house', is used.
6.
Kind of a silly name don't you think?
7.
Originally posted by James Indeed you didn't. You unquestionably implied it.
Hey now, let's not throw gas onto a dying fire.
8.
Originally posted by PiroMunkie A graphics artist who plans on putting things on the web should take all resolutions into account.
While I agree with this statement, there was a time when I had to be on a 640x480 resolution. Horrible days I tell you. I think the industrial layout looks nice, but I don't like the Times New Roman font at all and my biggest complaint is it does not display correctly in Netscape which is my primary browser. But otherwise I think it looks good, even if it doesn't "feel" like otakuboards.
9.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve James has gotten compalints from little Jimmy
Heh heh. Obligatory sentence #2.
10. Don't be so cruel to your mother. She brought you into this world after all. What does she listen to?
11. Funny... people who eat up Jackass calling cartoons too nonsensical.
12.
Originally posted by Rain But, I don't see why even 11 year olds have to wear bras
Aren't you in middle school by then? Then it makes perfect sense... if you're in middle school, you have gym... if you have gym, you dress down. Girls would hopefully be wearing something.
13. The two quotes seem just like more of this "let's all be deep and ignore material things" type stuff I see happening more and more these days. It's like the hippie generation is returning. So I give them both a big thumbs down.
14. OtakuBoards is decent. It's kept up pretty well for its size, but its content tailors to a generally idiotic crowd.
15.
Originally posted by James I think he is suitable for The Matrix...but he's certainly not the best actor they could have chosen. Though I don't think that necessarily reflects on our industry, because afterall, he himself is American.
All I know is that I am judging the entire film industry of Australia based on his acting in the Matrix.
16.
Originally posted by James Scooby Doo could give Australia's movie industry a very bad reputation lol. But with The Matrix under its belt, I don't think it has to worry...wouldn't you say? :)
I dunno, Keanu Reeves is a piss poor actor...
17.
Originally posted by Mnemolth Hmm....that's great advice...if you intend to be a monk or a priest. :D Cos if you graduate from college without ever having had a girlfriend, then really, you're making your life much harder than it need be. ;)
Harder? Personally I'd rather have one less thing to worry about when I'm studying for an exam, rather than one more.
18. You're taking my statement the wrong way. One can do better in academics when one isn't under stress from relationships.
19.
You didn't ask for it but I'll offer this tip anyway: Don't fiddle around with girls until you're at least out of college. Or high school if you don't plan on going to college.
20. I think the sig limits, as they are, are a bit too strict... Take for example, if I made a banner that was 400x150... this is against the sig size limit because it's too tall. However, if you take into the fact it's smaller than a 500x100 (50 pixels), it's not really any worse than someone with a 300x50 sig and nine billion lines of text in his/her sig. So, it's probably good you don't have the code to make those limits, because I think the above example illustrates a time when "bending" the rules isn't such a bad thing.
21. Yeah, better to break up than just prolong the pain.
22. When Otakuboards came up after the temporary downtime, one of the upgrades that was said to occur was the ability to add a MIDI file to your profile page... has that idea been given up?
23. Well, if you don't have your cookies enabled, you can't post... so, maybe putting in the "reply" pages would be a good place for it, just to remind people before they attempt to post they need to enable cookies.
24. So, the question becomes: if you want to post something that would've gone in the web development forum, where would you put it now?
