Avril!

Well, I can understand where PiroMunkie would be coming from if he did indeed explode as you have predicted. To him, then, Avril would just be giving people a "wrong" image of what punk is - and that bothers him because he likes punk. So, I don't think you can completely blame him.
3.
Originally posted by Saiyan_monkey Ok, I'll have to agree with that. There are 10 people in my high school who watch anime religiously. But do you know how many kids are in my school? 2000. That means that 0.5% of the kids in my school like anime. Not even a whole percent. Not such a big number now, is it? And there really isn't many anime fans at my school. Quite a few of the anime fans are Asian, but you try to find a non-Asian anime fan at my school. I'd say there's about...3, and they're only into anime because they have Asian friends. Of course you have the guys who watch DBZ and Pokemon, but they don't even know what anime is.
Well you aren't 'isolated' if there are ten of you. Ten is enough to have a good-sized "group" of people to hang out with... really, do you expect 25% of the people to just love anime? Of course not. Some people just don't like it, and a lot don't even know if it. But for liking something from a foreign country, I think you are doing just fine. About the Asian stuff, that's a big duh. Why would they not be Asian? Do you see non-Spanish people listening to Spanish music? No, or at least I never have. People don't explore other cultures much, and it's not like you can expect them to just automatically love Japan.

Avril!

I decided I'd download some of her songs out of curiousity... so I got "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boy". Um, they were awful. Her voice bugs me endlessly. And the songs weren't good at all... not as bad as some of you seem to make them, but the lyrics were atrocious and the songs just weren't good... I don't care what she claims to be, she's just 'bad' to me...
5.
Originally posted by Darktoweronline From 50's comic code trials to the present obscenity laws, a person older than 12 challenges a lot of American history by wearing that Dragon ball or Sailor moon backpack. Takes guts. Dan
No it doesn't. Anyone who puts on a DBZ shirt isn't worrying "I hope nobody catches me!". It doesn't take any guts, just stupidity. It's just history. They aren't challenging anything. It's like saying being an atheist takes guts.

Who says you can't be both? 10. Which songs are you the best at singing (excluding the songs you wrote, if any) L'Arc~en~Ciel's songs...
7. Take a look at XD sideways. Still don't get it? The D is a big, open, smiling mouth, the X is the eyes closed.
8. You all keep recycling the same old arguments... I swear I've seen all these points a billion times before. The topic has been beaten to death, just let it go.
9. Man, this shit is old. Just let it die...
10. Don't think it's just America that screws over just anime dubs. Everything dubbed is screwed up in some way or another. Have you ever watched The Simpsons in a foreign language? It's never the same. So... all I can say is... it's not just precious anime that's screwed up with dubbing. Everything, everywhere, is screwed up by dubbing. So learn Japanese mazaafakka.
11.
Originally posted by ~Mystical Pan~ I already made a Jimmy Eat World one and JUST finished my new LJ layout on Fukada Kyoko. :)
Hot damn, how do you know of fukada kyoko? I'm in love with her... like a lot. Her music, acting, appearance, all very good...

I am Sam

I loved this movie, I was like you and wasn't really wanting to watch it at first... but once I did, I just couldn't stop crying. Such a sad movie, it's my favorite now.
Originally posted by AnimeLover Sorry, I am not a ten year old. Really sorry to break it to you.
Surely you can see where there'd be confusion.
14.
Originally posted by gokents We dont mind if your doing it, I just dont wanna hear it.
That's pretty unfair don't you think? It' OK for heterosexual relationships to be spoken of and flaunted, shown on TV and movies constantly, but not gay ones?
15. "grammer" is actually spelled as "grammar". Just a tip.
16.
Originally posted by NorykoAngelcry I am sorry for whatever happened to you WristCutter to make you think that we are the slum of the earth. Well. . maybe some are, but I don't think you should feel that way about EVERYONE of us.
Who said anything about slum of the earth? I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. I'm not saying women are much more "moral" or anything either... Anna gets the point.
17.
Originally posted by PiroMunkie If by "accepting is a totally different thing" you mean accepting the fact that you would really say 'yes' instead of just saying you'd say 'no', I do agree.
It's hard to sum up into one sentence like I wanted too... but it seemed like some people perceived my statistical statement to mean "99% of guys would instantly fall flat on their face and grovel at a hot chick's feet if she asked them out"... when what I meant was "99% of guys would NOT SAY NO"... perhaps that makes more sense.
18. I wouldn't say a gross generalization. I never said "99% of men would instantly fall in love forever if an attractive girl asked them out". That would be a gross generalization. However, accepting is a totally different thing. And in that regard, I'd say my "radical statement" wasn't so radical at all.
19. Of course blacks make up a lot of the prison population. Where is most crime committed in America? The ghetto. Who makes up most of the ghetto population? You guessed it. Again, I really must point out it isn't my fault for any problems any individual has (for the most part). I don't care what color they are, we're all in the same boat. Think of it this way - should basketball teams accept white people for doing their damndest, even if there is a much more capable black guy to do the job?
20. I still completely disagree with the points you made. Especially this - "Just because of their background, they shouldn't need to work HARDER than everyone else." What happens to them in their home life is their problem. If they can't do as well as another HUMAN BEING on a test, than they should not be accepted (whether or not the test is an example of intelligence is another debate), regardless of bad parents/home life whatever. It's like giving them pity points and that's ridiculous as I see it. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to give any minority special treatment and they shouldn't give me any because I'm a majority.
21. I think the idea is unique enough that it might just draw in some crowds. I'd like to see it myself - if the movie is not littered with drawn out conversations and is done right (I'm sure Mel had this in mind) then it should be good despite the fact very few would be able to understand the words.
22. So basically, minority groups need us to wipe their ass? Is that what you're saying? Because of their background, they do not need to work as hard... I fail to see the logic. What on earth does it matter if your parents went to college or not? As long as the option of going to college is available, the standards should be the same for everyone. We're all people - we all have brains. Those with good ones should be accepted... no matter what their background may be. Maybe think of it in this sense - should a rich black guy have a better chance of getting into college than a poor white guy? The playing field is even - everyone is human. Nobody needs to be treated as 'not as intelligent'.
23. I don't like any genres. I just like good music, which is so rare.
