2. It's one of the worst piles of crap they allow on TV. I can't believe even 4 year olds are entertained by that garbage.
  3. I never feel comfortable about talking to others about such things, and I'm unable to do anything artistic about my "emotions" so I dunno exactly what I do. I try to regulate my thinking I guess, and just take life one day at a time. If it's something that is recurring, or that I can't just brush off, then I just deal with it however I can, if I can. Otherwise, well, sucks for me. Sometimes I just sit in my closet listening to ballads and slow songs though, I guess that's one way I deal with things.
  4.
Originally posted by Mist Thanks a lot, wrist cutter. I'm going to check them out tommorow. ^ ^
Maybe this is unwanted, but I can offer you some advice as to what to purchase. X has four original, studio albums, God knows how many "best of" collections, a couple live albums, and numerous singles. I assume you'll want to buy a "normal" album here so I can give you a gist of what they sound like before you go buying away. Vanishing Vision - This was their original album when they were still an underground band, but it remains today as the most successful indies album ever. Personally, I really like it, even if it only has 6 1/2 songs on it (2 of the songs are instrumentals, and "Un-finished..." is actually unfinished, so thus the 1/2). Most of the songs are just straightforward metal, but still contains the classic "Kurenai" and the epic "Alive". All the actual songs are good, so you might consider buying this if you like metal. BLUE BLOOD - This continues in the tradition of the previous album, metal, metal, metal. It has plenty of metal tracks but varies it up a bit more. Songs like "Week End" (which I'm not too fond of personally, but it is EXTREMELY popular), "Celebration" and "Easy Fight Rambling" are much more upbeat than what you'd expect, and are much more tame and such, sounding kind of like a classic '80s rock song. It has a new version of "kurenai" (yay!) and a complete version of "Unfinished", one of their best ballads I think. Also has their second single "Endless Rain", their very best ballad ever and the song that made X a household name. Jealousy - Unfortunately this song is really short on tracks - only 10, 2 of which are instrumentals. However, the remaining tracks are all quite good. "Silent Jealousy" is another metal/ballad combo like DAHLIA, and their most popular song behind "kurenai". It has more of the upbeat, '80-ish rock songs like "Joker", and the REALLY retro-sounding "Desperate Angel" (but hey... it's still good stuff). "Voiceless Screaming" is a really nice slower song, and the big ballad of the album, "Say Anything" is really nice as well. There's only one metal track here, "Stab Me In The Back", and it's not as good as some of their earlier ones. DAHLIA - A big change of pace for the band. This is the album to get if you really like their ballads, because they cover roughly half of this 10 track album - "Tears", "Longing~togireta melody~", "Forever Love Acoustic Version", and "CRUCIFY MY LOVE". All the ballads are really great, some of the best I've ever heard anywhere. But also contains the amazing "DAHLIA" which you've already heard, my favorite X song. Guitarist hide contributed two real great rock songs to the album, "Scars" and "DRAIN", some of my favorite X songs. There's an instrumental piece in "WRIGGLE" and kind of a nothing song in "White Poem I", so I guess this one ends up lacking tracks kinda like most other X albums. This might help you or not, I dunno. You might be best off just buying one of the million "best of" compilation albums if you want the best exposure to X JAPAN, but really as I see it, there's something to like on any album. I don't quite recommend "Jealousy" as much as the others though, simply because it took me the longest to get used to. But whatever floats your boat.
  5.
Originally posted by The Elite DBZ Karate means "art of the open hand" or soemthing along those lines.
karate = ?ó?è The first kanji means "empty" (well... could mean air too, I guess) and the second means "hand" (or an occupational suffix, but it just isn't). So, first of all, it really has no "art" anywhere in it, and second of all, open hand gives off a slightly different feeling than empty hand does, I think. But it is a foreign language, so I guess it's a bit open to argument. Just trying to help.
  6. amazon.com surprisingly carries a few of their CDs. If you want more selection though, then you can always use CDJapan or HMV.
  7.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve They'll probably end up playing "Kobe and Shaq's two man team"... and lose anyway...
I like your style :) And I'm glad the Nets are going to the finals... always love seeing underdogs pull through.
  8.
Originally posted by BabyGirl Lables are for jars and certainly people are not jars...
Finally, someone with some fuckin' common sense.
  9.
Originally posted by DeathKnight You People Are Calling Slipknot **** cause you are rock lovers... Slipknot is Metal. Not Rock. So stop dissing the band when you dont even listen to the proper Genre of Music to have a right to say the bands name.
I love metal. I call them **** because that's what their music reminds me of. And I think rap is more a form of poetry, although a generally more vulgar form (and far less complex). It's not really singing at all, at least I don't think so.
  10.
Originally posted by Goku213 I dont know what music you like, but i'll take a guess at rock music, or if you don't, let's just say that you do for arguments sake. To me, that isn't music, that's just a load of screeching shouting, bawling, shouting.
First of all, Transtic Nerve has a very diverse range of musical tastes. It is not at all limited to just rock, even though I know he does enjoy it. But second of all, I must comment that your view on rock is very limited. You only think of rock music as that trash those **** bands like Slipknot and System of a Down put out, and that's not rock, that's just crap.
  11. I forgot his name, but I liked that rapper who always rapped about doing drugs with his home dawgz. He was cool; if you know his name it would be greatly appreciated. And Shinobi, stop typing with your feet, it's hard to comprehend your messages.
  12.
Originally posted by Majora's Mask And when I read the topic title("to many punks!")I thought you were some crotchety old man!
I sure act like one a lot.
  13. I'm glad I already know Japanese (well... not fluently) or my class would be hard. The teacher is awful, she explains the easy things too thoroughly and skims over anything they don't understand. She also has a habit of making Japan seem like a wonderland where everyone writes slow and nicely, talks politely, and enjoys the company of Americans. In fact, come to think of it, she hasn't even told them they're speaking polite Japanese yet. gasp Oh the horrors of speaking the way most Japanese people normally talk!

    A Cappella

The best way to get someone to listen to something they are unsure of is to make it easily accessible, so nobody has to do any work in order to try it. Because, well, they won't.
  17.
Originally posted by Atomic Sock I still like my Metal, but your "real metal" is pretty awesome.
That's fine. As long as you like that song you're in good shape :)
  18. Here, listen to this song: (check it out, free mp3s! Yes, you're welcome) ---> DAHLIA For all those people who posted about Slipknot and SoaD or whatever in the "Metal" thread, this is what real metal sounds like. It's by one of the most beloved bands ever, and yes, that is an actual human drumming, not a drum machine. If you like the song, you have good taste... otherwise, well I think you get the idea. X is a collection of the five most talented musicians ever, and "DAHLIA" is an example of them at their finest.
  19. Well OK... I'll respond to all your posts individually. ~Mystical Pan~: I agree; everyone at my school sounds the same because they're all following the same musical pattern. And I would form a band with some of my friends, but I really don't have many. Those who are my friends are already in a band or aren't interested in joining one. PiroMunkie: Well, I really can't tell the difference between "poser punk" and "real punk" because it all sounds the same to me. But I'm guessing the bands here are the ones you enjoy flaming the hell out of... Anna: Um, well, I suppose my favorite genre is "pop-rock". But I doubt any of you are familiar with exactly what I'm talking about, because pop-rock in the states either has too much punk influence or is just pop with occasional guitars (which isn't too bad I suppose). It's a genre that isn't really too popular in America unfortunately. But if I were to join a band, I'd wanna play all sorts of genres. Speed metal, ballads, medium tempo rock songs... I wouldn't want to limit my creativity. Nerdsy: Well as I said above, all of my friends are currently in bands or aren't interested. And it's not easy to find people who want to follow the same musical path I'd like to, because I have a rather unique taste in music I think. Plus I'm a control freak -_-; Transtic Nerve: Yeah, you told me about that group awhile back. What kinda music were they? And why would I like the way this girl looks? (perhaps you should PM me about that matter....) And yes, of course, METOLIUS forever. Some of the replies I didn't respond to, 'cuz well, there wasn't really much to respond to that already hadn't been stated above.
  20. While I must agree with Transtic on the "you have nothing to worry about" ideas, I also sympathize with you. Being a teenager is no walk in the park, as I KNOW Transtic can also tell you (he should know of all people). Lots of emotions and thoughts swimming about, and the experience just isn't there to back them up. Sometimes, you can logic your way through things but it always doesn't work. You can just ride it out or kill yourself though, and either way isn't really a great option,
  21. With the exception of one, every band that is formed at my school is punk, or alternative of some sort that sounds similar to punk. This pisses me off, because I don't like punk/alternative at all, it's just not my taste. Every time I hear of a band forming, I'm interested because I've been looking to join a band ever since I got in high school. But every time I ask what kind of music they play, I always get the same response: punk. And it pisses me off. The one exception noted above is a hardcore band, but they have no need for me there and their musical style is not to my liking anyway. Just figured I'd vent my frustration on this topic.

  24.
Originally posted by sandramaxwell06 why are you even on this forum, i mean if you think anime is a fad.
Because I get a pretty messed-up feeling of superiority when I piss people like you off. Other than that Transtic basically cleared the rest up.
  25.
Originally posted by RicoTranzrig For just good modern rock...I'd say Metallica or KISS (I guess...)
Yeah, that's basically what I'm interested in knowing. Thanks for your input, and everyone else's so far. But keep on responding...
