The 2.4GHz device enables up to five players to play each other wirelessly. The wireless adapter, utilizing Motorola's chipset, will be launched in Japan first half of 2004 along with the first games to support the device, Pokemon Leaf Green and Pokemon Fire Red. "Motorola's wireless chipset realizes high-speed and low-power consumption," said Satoru Okada, general manager, research and engineering department of Nintendo Co., Ltd. "This is one of the most important solutions for portable gaming. Furthermore, Motorola's wireless experience, such as, their antenna technology enabled us to develop a new wireless game system. Motorola also provided extensive contribution not only in IC development, but considerable system engineering support. This accomplished a high quality wireless gaming system. Game Boy Advance users will experience a new style of gaming and comfort." Scott Anderson, president and chief executive of Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector commented, "Collaboration with Nintendo, a leader in the consumer entertainment market, allows us to further demonstrate our embedded wireless leadership. We have provided Nintendo a full wireless system solution focused on the end-user. I am confident this will significantly improve the game-playing experience and as a result, attract many veteran and novice game enthusiasts to Nintendo's offerings." It's expected that Motorola's chipset will be used in the next generation Game Boy system.
Personally, I think this is awesome. Many times I've tried playing GBA with other people in situations where you just can't sit right next to eachother. I wonder how far the reach is, though.

3. I liked them very little back then. I did buy their debut, but that was about it. I've not bothered with any of their more recent material.
4. We had an old thread on this, but I never realized how old it was. It hadn't been touched since June, so I figure it is time for a new one. This week is the Tokyo Game Show. Lots of big announcements from Japan usually occur. Capcom has shown an insane amount of new titles for example. Konami also released a new trailer for MGS:TT (MGS3 might get one as well, but it might be the same one from ECTS). It's about 15 MBs and 5 minutes long. They used an ASX file, and so things are rather washed out. However, the framerate and sound are just fine. Anyway, the game looks pretty awesome in motion. Watch the whole thing through because there are scenes that really should be seen fully. Game is looking pretty good in most aspects. The modeling is really improved since the last movie and even since the last batch of shots that came out less than a month ago. Animation looks good as well. The game was delayed to early 2004 (I think it was set for November originally), and so this is not the final build. I guess quite a few things still have to be addressed and added in. Shadows and lighting being one of them. Dyack has said that they're using a unified lighting pipeline system, which is what Doom 3 is using. I'm under the impression that it isn't fully implemented yet, based on these shots. Once that is in, I imagine it will look far nicer. Thankfully they have plenty of time to address it all, so no concerns from me. So here's the link. PLEASE do not share this with other boards, as I have to pay for this bandwidth. Edit - New link... took mine down: http://streamingmovies.ign.com/cube/mgstt_092603_01_free.wmv
5.
Originally posted by Baron Samedi I figure Semjaza does hate me, especially as he never replies my IM's. Heh.
Sorry, my friend. I've not been around a lot lately. Tori, Mitch and a few other people seem to be getting bothered by that... especially since I've not even been putting up away messages lol. So yeah, public service announcement: If I don't respond, I'm not here. Even if I'm busy, I will at least tell you so.
6. You probably don't have the latest version of Quicktime, or it isn't installed into your browser properly. Go to www.quicktime.com and make sure it's all set up right.
7. In High School, we had to have a pen pal. In Latin class, of all places. We wrote back and forth with this classroom in Germany in Latin. Translate it to English, blah blah blah. Wasn't a long thing though.
8.
Originally posted by James Gameplay wise, Square-Enix is no better than the vast majority of developers (well, Square isn't, in general).
Thank you for making that distinction. Now I don't have to heh. I'm not going to get into that again, but let's just say that I think Square is disgustingly overrated. That's personal opinon. There are plenty of great Western companies. Unforunately they are held back by the vast amounts of shovelware that is easier to release. Midway, Acclaim and so on are big culprits of this. For the most part, Western companies always seemed to regulate themselves to the PC sector. However, with videogames getting more and more popular, many are doing both. The Xbox enticed a lot of PC developers to jump ship because of the similiar hardware. You just have to know where to look I guess. Consoles generally come from Japan, which I'm sure perpetuates this train of thought. The US-minded Xbox seems to be helping shift this idea a lot more.
9. They're from Quiter originally, scanned from magazines. One of them is hosted at Gamefront.de though. According to tennin at GAF, the magazine spread basically says: "Kingdom Hearts GBA's development is being outsourced (to Jupiter, makers of Pokemon Pinball and Sakura Wars GB). KH2 is still very early: they haven't given a release date for it, not even the generic "2004" of KH GBA and Advent Children." So there's some info.
10. I'll take care of it when I get a chance. The list has gotten so large that it is easy to mix up lol. You can edit your own times in if I'm not around, seeing as though you have that power heh.
11. I think everyone knows your opinion by now lol. With the previous threads and all the posts in this one, I think it's pretty clear. There's not much more to add to it heh. Personally, I love System of a Down. They're one of the better bands to come out of the nu-metal scene. Regardless of whether or not you like Serj's voice, it fits the band. I can also say, from personal experience, that the riffs in their songs are far more difficult to play than it seems. Roulette is a good example. They have talent, whether or not you like that talent is another story. I still haven't bothered to buy Steal This Album. I mentioned in the other thread that I managed to get their old demo tapes as well as a full, unreleased LP from 2002. I have no clue why it didn't come out.
12. Square makes games pretty much where ever they please. Sony has a share in them, but it was never enough to totally affect decisions, and now that they combined with Enix, Sony's share is even smaller. They have FF: Crystal Chronicles coming out for GC in the US now (it's more of an action RPG - we have a thread on it).Plus FF: Tactics Advance was already released on GBA here. Sword of Mana is set to follow, and they showed off some Chocobo game months back... but I don't know what came of it.
13. Along with the FF7 movie (bleh) two new Kingdom Hearts games were announced. The first is simply Kingdom Hearts 2 for PS2. The second is KH: Chain of Memories for GBA. Should be obvious what images are for what system. I don't have any real, concrete info yet. I don't think any other site has translated the pages.
14. I guess this is the result of the FF7 rumor I posted before. A few days ago, some Japanese sites were saying it wasn't what people expected. Well I'm sure a movie isn't what people expected, let alone wanted. All the images are CG on every image I've seen. So I don't know why you would get the impression that they'd use real actors. I suppose it could be one of those "interactive" DVD movies though... Like Space Ace or Dragon's Lair. Square's goal of turning the FF series into movies is now complete. They also managed to turn Cloud into Angsty Tidus and Sephiroth into a woman. Better image. Sorry about the size. http://www2u.biglobe.ne.jp/~nanko/images/6787.jpg
15. The bolding thing is odd in the sense that instead of just having friends, you're basically dividing them up into groups. I don't really think that idea will sit well with a lot of people, and I forsee people IMing me and asking why they aren't bolded and other people are. That's how this place is. So, personally, I wouldn't even use it. A member list would be appreciated though.
16. They hadn't even announced that yet when I replied lol. The press release from them was issued today, I believe... Yeah, September 24th -- today. You can get a GBA SP and a GCN for the same price as a PS2. Not bad, I'd say.
17. I thought the latest issue of Runaways was one of the best yet. It really is one of the best comics I've read, and I look forward to getting it every month. I'd say everyone should read it heh. It seems to be gaining in popularity, as the last issue seemed to sell out very quickly. I never had a problem getting the previous ones even a week later, but this one was gone in less than two days. It's on #6 now, I believe... so it should be getting a paperback soon. I've rarely seeing older issues lying about, to be honest. I got lucky and found #1 and #2 in a single issue (along with Sentinel) at Borders one day. Speaking of Sentinel, you might want to check that out too. I think it's quite fun, although Runaways is far more entertaining for me.
18.
Originally posted by Shinmaru Plus, Kefka is cool. Come on, you know he's crazier than Sephiroth. Admit it.
We got into this before. Don't even bother. It was basically me and a couple other Kefka fans versus the world lol. My favorite RPGs are numerous, none are from Square. They are in no particular order. Persona 2 - This is probably my all time favorite and definitely the best on the PSX. It was released in fairly limited supply here by Atlus, so it's not too easy to find anymore. Persona is an offshoot of the Megami Tensei series, which is quite popular in Japan. It generally deals with aspects of religion such as demons and so on. In Megami Tensei, you had the choice of being good or bad. The final boss was generally God, and you had a choice of what to do with him. Persona isn't like that, although it does concentrate heavily on demons and the supernatural. It's aimed at older audiences because of these ubjects. The original Persona was fun, but severely flawed. Persona 2 takes care of all of these problems, but it's still an RPG aimed more at the hardcore player. The weapon traits, spell learning, combo system, tactical placement, demon conversation and card creation elements all lift it above more other RPGs. Earthbound - I know that most people will give this little chance just because the battles are in first person... but it's probably the most out right fun RPG I've ever played. The translation is excellent, and at the time, was probably the best one ever. It's still up there right now, although some games have finally equaled it. Just really quirky, weird and fun. I just wish it was a bit longer. Dragon Warrior 3/4 - I can never choose between these two. Both are excellent RPGs. 4 has far more story and development than 3 does, mostly because 3 lets you create your own characters. Dragon Warrior is old school, even now. I doubt many people would be fond of it since it focuses mostly on dungeons and leveling up. I grew up on this series though, so I still love it. If you're interested, check out the excellent DW3 on Gameboy Color. There are more. I'll post them later.
19. I don't post in here much, despite having a lot of art I could show. Who knows why. I think the last thing I showed was that Marilyn Manson wallpaper I did with the paintbrush in Photoshop. I realize this has problems. The green bird's color is just a bit too much compared to the rest of the picture, for example. I also know the background is a bit dark, but this was meant for printing... and it does look quite a bit better on paper. The birds stand out though, that's all that matters. As for what I did... well I took a picture of Chicago, a picture of some ducks and a picture of some mountains in Las Vegas and edited them together. The biggest pain in the *** was mostly cutting the ducks out. The coloring was simple, but time consuming. Anyway, this was an assignment. As such my heart wasn't truly in it, and it is what it is. Enough work so that I could turn it in and get a good grade, so it's not like a technical or artistic marvel or anything. I have no desire to work on this any longer. I don't even know that I care for it... I'm mostly posting it because it's still on my server lol. There's that explanation. I can post a lot more things if anyone cares to see them. 20. Part of me wonders why the hell they are even making it. There are some movies that just shouldn't be remade. People may argue what is a classic is and what isn't, but I think it's safe to say that this movie is a horror classic. Considering how old it is, it has lost very little of its effect since then. The other part of me thinks this looks pretty damn cool. The trailer is well done, the movie looks changed enough that it might be worth seeing just to see what is different and so on. Plus a good portion of the soundtrack was done by Marilyn Manson, which makes me interested (he also did Resident Evil). Obviously it lost a lot of its snuff quality. It doesn't look gritty anymore. It doesn't look like someone just taped it with a camcorder, which to me, really added to the first one. So I don't know. I'm sure I'll see it either way. What's probably worse is that they want to remake Halloween too. I sure as hell hope that doesn't pan out.
21.
Originally posted by lea2385 lol, harry, how do you know everyone wants arnold for governer? are you everyone? i dont agree with much of anything arnold stands for.....
Last I heard, he doesn't really have a platform as it is. He's been so vague that I don't know what it is he really wants to do.
22. Spider-Man wasn't too great for me, and X-Men ran its course. I do think you'll most likely enjoy The Ultimates itself though. I finally got to catch up on some of my backlogged comics the last two days. Losers, 100 Bullets, Possession and New X-Men to be specific. 100 Bullets - I don't know. I'm really mixed on it at this point. It seems well done, but I obviously jumped on in the middle of a story arc. I have almost no idea what is really going on. I'm also somewhat put off by the art, as it seems really cartoony for the subject matter. Losers - Freaking awesome. Similiar to 100 Bullets in the idea that it focuses on real world situations and crime moreso than most others. This one focuses on some ex-governmental agents who are trying to against the system - anti-heroes. Well done on every front. It also is slightly cartoony, but not to the extent that 100 Bullets is. It can be odd reading these two, as they have a large amount of violence and cursing... totally absent from most comics I've bought heh. Possession - I'm not sure about this one yet. It has good ideas... a bunch of previously possessed people (including a priest) taking on demons and such. It's kind of like Ghostbusters in that sense, crossed with The Exorcist. Art is quite good. It's detailed and makes use of a large amount of dark areas and crosshatching. The latter which I don't see used too much in the other comics I read. I'm not fond of some of the female designs though, as they just have massive breasts that look totally out of place to me. As cool as the idea is, and as weird as the designs are... at this point I don't really have any attachment to the characters. #3, the latest, seemed like an improvement though, so I'm sticking it out. New X-Men - Great, I thought. I have 3 issues from the Weapon X story arc, which basically deals with Wolverine, Fantomex and the other weapons. It was hard to jump into at first (mostly because I don't have the first issue in the arc), but I caught on and really liked it. Much moreso than Ultimate X-Men. I believe that New X-Men is set to relaunch simply as X-Men... so watch out for it. If I had to choose one, I'd go with Losers followed by New X-Men.
23. From what I'm reading around... It sounds more like this is a move on TRU's part and not Nintendo's. Which would mean the MSRP for GCN's still is at $150 and they're trying to clear out overstock, which is rather likely considering the amounts that Nintendo already has manufactured and unsold so far.
24. Discussion of where to get exact MP3s is not allowed here... mostly because of copyright concerns. Sorry. A quick Google search should find you plenty of programs and other options though. Until then, thread closed.
25. In regards to Mario Kart: Double Dash... it had problems. Nintendo always stressed that they would be addressed, but people complained about them anyway. IGN in particular. However, in the latest build that was shown off in Europe, the concerns were taken care of. The biggest complaint was the speed, which was fixed completely according to IGNCube. They seem very optimistic about it now, which is always a good thing. Anyway, there's that answer lol.
