Originally posted by RicoTranzrig Out of all the games I owned before I lost my NES, I could never beat Bart vs. The Space Mutants. Maybe 'cause I was too young at the time to figure out how to beat level 4. How do you kill that dinosaur, anyway? lol I can conquer Tetris and Mario...but not that. I'll have to come back to it someday.
That game just made no sense to me. I liked the first level for whatever reason, but after that it just got too weird. I think the Dinosaur had platforms that appeared next to it... you had to jump up those and then jump on its head. Or something weird like that heh. I want to get the Genesis version someday, just so I can finish the game.

There are a few I can think of offhand. First up are two songs by NIN. Or ather, two cover songs by NIN. First up is Physical, a cover of an older Adam Ant song. This song, to me, is basically sex in audio form. I don't know how else to describe it. The words alone wouldn't be enough, but Trent's vocals on this track really complete it.
Physical i wanna take you maybe i wanna take you out i wanna wine and dine you oh i wanna twist and twist and shout i want you hot in my arms so soft on my bed you get the key to my heart oh when you wear that sweet dress but you're too physical physical to me you're just too physical physical no to me i want your rough house baby i want this right in your ear you let me feel your danger i let you make this feeling clear here i want the touch of your charms the heat of your breath i wanna say all those things that would be better unsaid no you're just too physical you're just too physical too ****ing physical no, no, no, no, no, no oh you're too physical just too physical just too
The other would be a cover of Queen's Get Down Make Love. The original song was fairly dirty, but Queen played it slow with piano... which almost made it sound somehow dignified. NIN's cover totally throws this out the window, and everything is replaced with weird beats and samples of girls making sexual noises. It's topped off again by Trent's vocals. Great song. It opens with some really odd man talking about sex, which is quite amusing.
Get Down Make Love "how old were you when you first let a man make love to you? next, who was he? next, how did you feel at the time? next, how did you feel afterwards? what did you feel? what did you think? were you pleased? frightened? ecstatic? disgusted? what did he say? what words did you speak? that's what i want to know... now, tell me, now, now, all of it, now, tell me, yes!" get down, make love you take my body i give you heat you say you hungry i give you meat i suck your mind you blow my head make love inside your bed everybody get down, make love get down, make love every time i get hot you wanna cool down every time i get high you say wanna go down you say it's enough in fact it's too much every time i wanna get down get down get down, make love i can squeeze you can shake me i can feel when you break me come on so heavy then you take me you make love, you make love, you make love, you make love you can make everybody get down, make love get down, make love every time i get hot you wanna cool down every time i get high you say wanna go down you say it's enough in fact it's too much every time i wanna get down get down get down, make love
There's also Closer of course, but I don't know how "sexy" that is... depends on your personality heh. A few others would be "Gonna Leave You" and "Go with the Flow" by Queens of the Stone Age. They might not be that obvious, but they have a lot of innuendo in them that I picked up on right away. You simply MUST see the video for Go with the Flow, which is even more sexual without really showing anything lol. Like Piro mentioned... Darling Nikki is another. It was originally in Purple Rain, which starred Prince of course. The funny thing about this song is that it is the one that basically brought about those Explicit Lyrics stickers on albums. Tipper Gore heard the song and started some crusade. She wanted all albums edited, but the label was a compromise. I think the Apocalypse Hoboken cover owns the original, but Prince's version has more sexuality to it. Cool movie if you've not seen it yet.
Darling Nikki I knew a girl named Nikki I guess you could say she was a sex friend I met her in a hotel lobby Masturbating with a magazine She said how'd you like towaste some time And I could not resist when I saw little Nikki grind She took me to her castle And I just couldn't believe my eyes She had so many devicees Everything that money could buy She said sign your name on the dotted line The lights went out and Nikki started to grind The castle started spinning Or maybe it was my brain I can't tell you what she did to me But my body will never be the same Her lovin will kick your behind She'll show you no mercy But she'll sho'nuff, sho'nuff show you how to grind I woke up the next mo(u)rning Nikki wasn't there I looked all over and all I found Was a phone number on the stairs It said thank you for a funky time Call me whenever you want to grind Come back Nikki come back Your darling little prince Wanna grind, grind ,grind
So yeah, I guess I like the dirty side of things. I'm not into that Barry White style stuff.

If you think Metroid is hard, I think Metroid II will simply own you. It does have some things over the original. It seems a bit more coherant because the Gameboy was capable of a bit more detail (although at less colors). That's about it though. The world is bigger, and you still have no map. Monsters just seemed harder, weapons and energy in lower supply... plus you had the various Metroid mutations that you had to hunt down. It was required. Somehow I managed to finish it though. Maybe it's just because I haven't played it since I was a kid, but I swear it's the hardest Metroid game I've ever played.
Originally posted by Shadow Mystik my posts are of GREAT quality, if you dont like it dont read it, simple as that...i may not like to paragraph or any of that and may use "profanity" now and then, my posts actually are though out. so get over it, please. thats what the ignore feature is for, start using it
I'm a mod. I don't get to ignore it. I stick up for your actual content, and here you just tell me to blow off. Get over yourself. Like it or not, that post isn't easy to read. I don't think it's much to ask for you to stick some more line breaks or something into it. You don't need some attitude problem on top of it. The fact that you have made another account makes you more visible over other members as it is.

First of all Double, was that even needed? It's like you're just egging people on to come and attack this guy. Obviously you didn't even attempt to read anything else he said, because even though the word choice was bad, the context wasn't. The first sentence alone makes that obvious. Secondly, Shadow Mystik... you've been banned before. I suggest you clean up your post quality because you're obviously on thin ice already. I can barely even read what you said.

There is a simliar thread going on right now, so we kind of have to just leave one open. They'll just repeat eachother. They don't have the exact same topic, but I think anything in there will actually answer your question as well as his. http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30824 So feel free to say something about metal bands you like in there.

Games aren't defined by what they look like, they are defined by how they are played. Xenosaga is an RPG and SC2 is a fighter.

I don't think I'd put Tool, AFI or The Used in the metal category. Tool is the only thing in there close to it, but when I think of metal it's definitely not that sound. It depends mostly on the type of sound you want. There's the mostly crappy nu-metal bands that are/were on the radio, ballads like in the case of Dream Theater, old school stuff like Iron Maiden or Megadeth, darker stuff like Opeth or Cradle of Filth. There's also hardcore, which in my opinion is simliar enough that it should be mentioned. I'm being loose with the genre grouping, so hopefully someone won't jump on me about that. So I don't really know where to tell you to start. Nu-Metal... There's always System of a Down. They're better than most of those groups like them out right now. Toxicity and their self titled are both very good albums. Toxicity is a bit more polished, and I don't like it quite as much. Dream Theater probably won't be what you're expecting. They sometimes even have classical music worked into their songs. They are amazing at what they do though, so I think they are worth checking out. They actually have a new album coming out soon. Iron Maiden is also far cooler than they get credit for. Their self-titled is one of the better metal albums ever made, I think. They recently released a disc called Dance of Death, I believe. I've heard some of it, it's not too bad. Motorhead and Megadeth would also fit into this category. More old school stuff. Then there's Pantera. I'm not into them as much as I used to be, but they're quite good. Anything other than Reinventing the Steel is worth checking out. Down is another band, which has some of the same members. I actually prefer them to Pantera as they're a bit more melodic. They have a Black Sabbath style about their sound. Then there is Dog Fashion Disco, American Head Charge and a few others that I randomly like. I think they do what they do rather well... I'm not really into this stuff as much anymore though. I've not kept up on it in years because I'm tired of the yelling and the wall of noise they provide. Someone like Ken would probably be better suited to helping you since he's into that stuff.
-
I've said that in the past anyway. I also have to word things so people other than those who keep up on it know what I am referring to. I don't remember saying you wouldn't know what the group was. You're harping on one small aspect of my entire argument. Just because they aren't as big of a problem to these RIAA people doesn't mean they aren't someone they should deal with more than they are. I didn't say most MP3s are from these groups. I said a good deal are. I'd have to say that the RIAA should be more concerned over stuff being released all over the place that isn't even out yet than they should some random idiot sharing a low quality MP3 taped off the radio. Most of these (NOT MP3s in general) do originate from those groups, which was my whole point. Me saying they should go after these people more totally negates the idea that they need to go after Kazaa people too? Where did I say this? It's like not going after the people who actually tape bootleg videos and just concentrating on those that buy them. You're attacking all the legs of the beast and not the head. They might as well go after all of it at once. This was not the main point of any of my argument as it is. One small part that is being taken differently than I even meant it. In addition to this, there has been like four topics on this already. I don't want to post my entire thought process on it over and over again. I already said stuff about the RIAA's scare tactics in the past.
-
What do you mean by me sounding proper? lol
-
If you read that paragraph, you'd see I wasn't even talking about Kazaa. I said they should go after these FTP people more and not concentrate soley on random idiots downloading crap off of peer to peer stuff like Kazaa that just don't know any better. Besides, they aren't just targetting Kazaa, which would be obvious if you read their subpoenas and other things they send out. One of the people they went after in the past was running some sort of server in his dorm room. Now yes, most people do get their stuff of Kazaa and the like... however, 90% of leaks and such originate on some FTP and wind up on Kazaa very, very quickly. On top of this, on Kazaa you're lucky to find anyone that has a full album of anything. Whereas FTPs generally have entire discographies you can just leech off of there. It's not that small of a market, and it's more of a problem in terms of that then some random kid downloading a couple boy band songs. If you find an original of a newer CD on Kazaa is ends in something like FNT (which would be the group releasing it) or whatever else and generally has underscores instead of spaces. Many, many people wind up with these and some rename them, some don't. They are obviously a bigger problem than is evident and are surely the source of the newest things that get leaked to Kazaa. They're the reason I've been able to find many CDs weeks and weeks ahead of time on Kazaa in the first place. So I'm not sure how what you said disproves what I said. Edit - Added more.

Sleeping Beauty and the Little Mermaid are both fairy tales. I believe Little Mermaid was written by Hans Christian Andersen, actually. It was quite a bit more violent and morbid than the Disney version. Bambi was also based on a book by an Australian writer. Most everything Disney has made has been based on an existing tale. The Lion King is arguably based on Kimba, which is an anime most people seem to have forgotten. There were whole debates over that a few years back. The Simpsons even made a jab at it. I don't think the Emperor's New Groove was really based on anything. Fantasia wasn't really either. They kind of just went where they wanted with the music. Lilo and Stitch was created by some guy already working at Disney, I believe, so that's "original". There are a few of them, but most animated films from any company are based on existing stories.

http://users.ign.com/collection/Gr3ymalkin I added some stuff to it today. It's still missing quite a few console games and half of my PC game collection. I have too many.

The RIAA and that little girl settled. Her family has to pay them $2,000.

This is another of those bands a random friend of mine told me about way back, but I never bother to check out because I don't trust their taste in music. Judging from the above description, I don't think I'd be missing much. I'm not into that sound. So yes, I have heard of them, but not heard them.

Since the Pixies (best band ever, by the way) were mentioned, I feel I should pass on the news. The band is supposedly getting back together (according to a band spokesperson and numerous others) this April. They plan on having a tour, and a new studio album might follow. I'm still mixed on this. I want to see the Pixies live before I die... but at the same time I'm scared about how it might turn out.

I don't know how anyone could ever confuse Dreamworks with Disney. Their 2D animation styles are totally different. I personally can just tell what is made by Dreamworks because of it, as well as the fact that they choose fairytales I can't see Disney ever touching. Plus you get into their whole 3D thing... Pixar has Bug's Life, Dreamworks does Antz; Monsters's Inc. to Shrek; Finding Nemo to their upcoming shark mafia movie. They are a leech, and in my opinion their movies don't even compare (although I liked Antz at points). I must be the only one that thought Shrek was mostly terrible, marred a good deal by the fact that by the time it came out, its jokes were terribly dated. Disney and Pixar can at least manage a timeless quality. After Brother Bear, I don't remember what Disney has in the pipeline. The commercials aren't making me look forward to the film though. They always seem to try and focus on the lame comedy aspects for the last couple ones.

The thing I don't get is that they were obviously just in the next room. The party was like RIGHT THERE. The were these tiny little blinds blocking the view. Yet they just go at it like the idea of someone walking in is just impossible. And once someone does, they have no time to react at all. What if it was someone like Caleb? lol

I think the story mode was meant to be cheesy. The whole game is really, at least that's how the character designs lead me to think lol. However, my point was not that it was stupid... but that the characters obviously already have their own motivations and backgrounds and such. They have a lot to play around with, and since SEGA isn't involved, it probably won't be a problem. All of SEGA's arcade based games seem to have some cheesy quality to them.

The thing is, Ryan was already under the impression that Marissa made her choice. Is he supposed to just sit around and wait for the next time Marissa and Luke take a "break"? I don't blame him, although I wouldn't let someone else's girlfriend get all over me anyway lol. Although it seems both of them were in these vulnerable situations, I guess.
-
You make a good point... However, considering how bad the character development has been in some recent Disney films, I don't know if I could agree that it actually is true. Ignoring the music hasn't really done anything. It's not as though the characters sang about unrelated things. They used them to convey their feelings in some form. Now we just get some guy singing a song in the background, generally while the characters just walk around silently. Then you have films like Treasure Planet, which make it even less applicable, I think. That movie has so many characters in it that few even are worth liking. To me, he problem isn't Disney's lack of focus on the music, or even their excessive use of it. It's that they seemingly have no idea how to craft a good story with memorable characters to the extent that they used to. As for the Pixar stuff, I see no reason to even call it Disney. Pixar somehow realizes how to make good stories and characters along with their visuals. They know how to make things endearing. Disney doesn't seem to get that, and they very recently got rid of even more of their traditional artists with the plans of making their future stuff mostly 3D (not just computer drawn like most is anyway... Pixar style stuff). They're down to just 15 people now in that department. Last I heard, they wanted to make some 3D Pinocchio film. I wish they'd just give up.

She seemed so disgusted afterwards though, so I guess that is a good sign for Ryan haha. Summer I am now mixed on. Before I totally hated her, but she actually showed some actual heart for the first time. It obviously wasn't some feigned thing either... I still don't like her though. What happened to that girl who reads comics? She was far better in every respect. She likes comics! I mean, come on.... I'd be all over her. I am under the impression next week won't be the last. If you didn't notice, they say "final Summer episode". I will probably return in the Fall with all of FOX's other shows. Summer ends in less than two weeks afterall heh. I'm so lame lol.

I must wonder how many people that use Kazaa and these other mindless programs actually know how to rip MP3s. I've not many people that do. Most use something stupid like Musicmatch anyway. Personally, I don't think the problem is really the people who share lots of random stuff. The problems seem to be those warez groups that get most of these CDs out online weeks ahead of time, or these FTPs that seriously have around 1,000 complete albums on them. If you look around, they're not hard to find. The RIAA also goes after these people to an extent, but I'm not getting the picture that they are going after them as much as they should. They are the problem. I guess they want to hurt the little people to convey this message to normal people. I don't really know. Seems weird to just right out attack the hand that feeds you, the general consumer. The sharing argument might work if you weren't giving millions of people access to all of it. It's hardly comparable to you lending something out to a few people you know.

I have a bunch of Spongebob shirts. If you like it, what's wrong with showing it? I guess you're embarassed to like it...? lol
