1. I've not watched it in quite some time, but I am a very big fan of the show. It's one of the few where I bothered to buy each DVD in the series... luckily there are only four of them. The show is basically about this girl named Lain and her experiences with the Wired. The Wired is basically the internet, but it has reaches into pretty much every aspect of the outside world. Far more than that of our world. It's been so long that I cannot really go into much more detail. Even if I could, I doubt it would make much sense. Lain is incredibly hard to explain on any basic level, and it's very dependant upon its visuals. In any case, I do think it is a must see if you are willing to pay attention to it. It's not boring by any means, but it's a bit more complicated that most anime people bother to see.
2. Terrible idea. We used to have a place like that... It was called Newbie Lounge. OB itself is based around the ideal of quality posting. Spamming is not allowed for a reason. Among other things, it wastes valuable space and bandwidth, which has to be paid for. Sticking it into some other place isn't going to make it any better. There's no way in hell James or Adam would allow such a thing. It makes no sense with the design or philosophy of this site.
3. I don't know why so many of you guys think of this stuff. A good portion of this forum is far younger than me, and you're all just obsessed with death it seems. You, fobidding something bad happens, are likely to live a very long time yet. I'll think about this stuff when I'm old or on my deathbed. In the meantime, I'll just enjoy what is here and things a human mind can actually truly comprehend.
4. Final Fantasy Tactics is basically the bastard child of Tactics Ogre. It exists because of that game. In fact, Square now owns Quest... the company responsible for those games. I imagine only good things can result. Tactics Ogre on GBA is flawed, but the PSX original is quite excellent if you can manage to find it. Won't be easy. I'm looking forward to this game. I tend to spend a lot more time on portable RPGs than home ones lately, mostly because when you're on the train two hours a day... there isn't much else to do. I am obviously looking forward to Sword of Mana FAR, FAR more than this... but what the hell, it's apparently nothing short of excellent. I can't see myself passing it up.
5. It's only six episodes. I don't know how many times people expect them to show those same ones.
6. There are various modchips that allow this. They make you go through various little actions to get them to work... such as holding down reset for a certain amount of time or whatever. You have to do different things depending on if it's a PSone game or a PS2 game. You can install the mod yourself. I don't keep up on the mod scene, but I believe there are newer chips that don't require much, if any, soldering. They're basically plug and play, so to speak. You'd have to look into that. There aren't any true swap discs for PS2 as of yet, unless something happened recently I didn't know about. Generally these swap discs also require a mod chip... they just make the process of getting the games to work a bit easier.
7. Genndy was director and writer for several Powerpuff Girl episodes. I don't know how many honestly. He was also producer in at least one that I know of.
8. http://www.diamondcomics.com/shipping/shipping_082703.txt That's this Wednesday's list. I've been hearing great things about Flash, but I don't think I'm going to bother with it. I'm for sure getting X-Statix #12, Inhumans #4 and Love Fights #3. I'll probably pick up the Outsiders Double Feature too. It has the first two issues in it. I've not heard great things about #1, but #2 is good... pick up #3 while you're at it heh. Edit: Forget Love Fights. I don't feel like paying $2.99 for a comic right now heh. Money is itight. I've been looking into other comics. I'm going to pick up Galactic #1 and Losers #3. There were a couple others, but I'll figure it out when I get there. Possibly the new Mystique too.
9. Genndy Tartakovsky is his name. I think the show hit its prime animation wise a few years back. It got past the rough looking early years, and looked really good overall. The more recent ones almost seem too simplified. I watched a new one a while back after not seeing the show in a long time. It looked really off, so I figured it was an older one. I was surprised to see it was only from 2002. There's an obvious change.
Originally posted by amibasuki it's called *flashing lights* "Dexter and Computress Get Mandark!" a six-year old recorded an idea for a Dexter episode complete with voices and such, and shipped it to the Cartoon Network people. so they kinda ran with the idea, and animated the episode to fit the voice. that one was great :toothy:.
You are the love of my life. Thank you.
10. Cells are like blood cells. It's cel shading. Honestly, all you have to do is look at any cartoon. That's what it is. It gets the name because of the resemblence to animation cels used in cartoons.
11. I've not read the manga, but I have seen several episodes of the anime. It was surprisingly good, although the first episode didn't seem to tell its story very well from what I remember.
12. I saw it last night. First half is good. Second half is total garbage. I didn't even know what the hell the point of half the story was, to be honest. Like most of these films, it's just a vehicle for stunts... which is fine with me heh. After The Tuxedo, I was a lot happer with this. A good portion of the film is real stunts, unlike The Tuxedo which had stunt doubles and who knows how much wire used. This film didn't really make use of it for quite awhile, and even then you could tell Jackie was still doing a good deal of it himself. So I was happy with that.
13. For the people that haven't bought this yet... It's only $9.99 this week at Circuit City. Better pick it up.
14. The TV series was apparently disposed of already. It doesn't seem like many people knew about it.
15. Hopefully since it is Adult Swim... it won't be a bunch of Hamtaro fans that couldn't piece a sentence together if their life depended on it. Some older blood here would be nice heh.
16. There are really three groups I'd split the show up into, honestly. OLD Stuff, Middle Stuff and New Stuff. I prefered Middle Stuff. I do love the show though. There are tons of great episodes. My favorite is the one that looks like a coloring book. Some little kid narrates the story. Really just classic heh. Does anyone know the name of that episode?
17. People honestly think Tremors is trying to be piss-your-pants scary? There are different levels and grades of the genre. Tremors is one of those comedic-monster movies, in my opinion. It shouldn't even be compared to Aliens.
18. Generally if something weird happens like that... I wind up laughing after I'm assured they're not hurt. I don't see the big deal about laughing at stuff like Freddy vs Jason. It's practically a dark comedy as it is.

Staind

The last thing I'd think anyone would complain about with this band is the vocals. I can't find much wrong with them, honestly... especially considering some of the horrible singers in bands that are popular now.
20. If I do go without anime, it's by choice or the sheer boredom of it. I'd say the most was probably a few years.
21. I have an e-Reader. Mostly because I had money to burn at the time. It's fun to mess around with. The problem is that Nintendo rarely uses it to good potential, I think. That Mario Party e-Card board game was pretty cool though. That was a good idea. As for the e-Reader on this... I think it's a very cool idea, mostly marred by the fact that you need two GBAs. Luckily there are three in my house thanks to my brothers heh. It does give you the chance to add on new things though. I remember reading about being able to play with Super Mario Bros. 3 powers in levels from other games, and so on. I'll probably get it when I have more money.
22. Someone said it was one of those silent black and white commercial-type-things they do between shows and such.
23. The commercial also specifically named Semjaza Azazel as a god among men. I actually saw some of Trigun and I missed this. I did see one of these things, but it was about another message board rather than theOtaku itself. Strange.
24.
Originally posted by SadClown I love all of Burton's films with the exception of Money Bone...not his finest moment. He is the master of the macabre in my humble opinion. A side from TNBC, Sleepy Hollow, Beattle Juice and Batman Returns are among his best. BTW, I thought it was Lock, Shock and Barrel.
I assume you mean Monkeybone. That isn't a Burton film in any respect. In my opinion, his best films are this, Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice and Batman Returns. I've yet to see Sleepy Hollow for some reason.
25. This is ironic in a few ways. I'll let people figure them out on their own. In any case, there is a thread right below this.
