Bad Religion

I'm a bit tired. I'll try and write it up for tomorrow heh. I mainly name songs from New America because I think they are far more accessible to those who don't know the band. The older stuff might be offputting, but it's no less good, in my opinion. I've been listening to New America in particular a lot lately. Like I said, as a album it just doesn't flow very well... but if you think of it as a collection of singles, it rocks. I'm mostly in love with You've Got a Chance right now heh.
A rhapsody! Contestants in diguise A nation of desire, but who will win the prize? The people stand united, reluctantly aligned Copying and lying are the favorite past-time You've got a chance to confront the world today Desperate romance is the curse of castaways What good is skill if you don't make it to the dance? Despite circumstance, you've got a chance Common lives depicted on afternoon TV It's piked to give the miserable a vogue identity Hate your neighbors, cheat you friends, they don't discriminate Popularity and fame, don't care if you're a reprobate You've got a chance to confront the world today Desperate romance is the curse of castaways What good is skill if you don't make it to the dance? Despite circumstance, you've got a chance I'm tired of all these Shakespearean misinformations I want to win the game Oh yeah You've got the right intentions But who's got time to think? You've got a noon appointment You've got to hit the links You're talking in the stratosphere You're curled up on the floor With such a wealth of information, why are you so poor? You've got a chance to confront the world today You've got a chance though it seems so far away Don't you believe what the wise men have to say Despite circumstance You've got a chance
I think more think more than any other band, Bad Religion really gets me going. I find a lot of their songs to be very uplifting, and they're one of the few bands that actually cheers me up. This song always brings a smile to my face lol.
2.
Originally posted by Sara *stares* Please elaborate?
Sometimes it's best to not even ask. I think this is one of those cases. As if women don't get peer pressured. As if all girls are totally bitchy. As if Steven Hawking having the worlds highest IQ really translates into anything important for this thread's topic.
3. Final Destination sucks. The sequel is surprisingly good though, so don't just dismiss it if you've not seen it. I saw both versions of the Ring. I can't say I was overly impressed with either. I found some of the stuff in Ringu to be totally ridiculous honestly. The last parts seemed so rushed and goofy. "Oh. By the way... I have ESP! Time to cram nearly everything important in the backstory of the important characters into 5 minutes!" I'm exaggerating, but the pacing of the movie was just off. Good movies. Not something I plan on seeing again. I fail to see what was so amazing or scary about it. I think it's mostly that thriller/horror movies simply suck lately. There's nothing to compare it to other than teeny-bopper crap.
4. Thrill Kill was never on track to be AO. Adults Only is reserved for generally bad things, generally as graphic as possible. Extremely graphic drug use would be one. Nudity and sexual situations don't cause it, although I'm sure fully shown sex would. I can't really see any simply violent game getting AO, mostly because there have been worse things since then. Fallout 2 for example, allows you to kill children, pimp a whore out and other things. It just got a M rating. Nothing on a console has ever made use of the rating that was of importance (as in nothing on any of the main consoles from Nintendo, Sony or Sega) In fact, I can't even think of any adult PC game that has used the rating because they usually skip the ESRB altogether to my knowledge. The games are special order as it is. I'm sure there are plenty around though.

Bad Religion

Bad Religion is my favorite punk band after the godlike Apocalypse Hoboken (join the club!). Anyway, I'm not going to bore people with some inane history like I usually do. I figure that if you care or know about this band whatsoever, you wouldn't need me to bother. If someone wants some history thing, then ask. I'll post one. So who here is a fan? I don't know that I could pick a favorite disc, although Process of Belief is their best and most solid release in years (thanks to the return of one of their long time song writers). If you're looking for some songs to try out, you can get pretty much anything off New America or Process of Belief. New America is not very good as a whole album, as it's not very coherant. I have a hard time believing that its not just a random collection of songs. However, the songs by themselves are ******* awesome... You've Got a Chance, A Streetkid Named Desire, New America in particular. Most of them are good on their own. So yeah. Anyway, someone post heh.
6. I talk to the people I want to be in touch with already. There are a few others I've never gotten around to, but I'm sure I will before that time comes anyway. Otherwise, I wouldn't miss this place. I'd just find something more constructive to do. I kind of just post inbetween all the damn homework I have to do in the first place.
7. I'm infinitely patient. People generally expect me to be mad when I'm not. Even if I seem worked up by something, it's hardly something that's really a problem. I guess people just can't read me well. Most people describe me as easy going, so that works well enough.
8. The plan is to only put things in there that fit that. I can easily get black frames. The posters, I'm not so worried about... assuming they fit the room in some form. Nothing like super bright blue, for example lol. Besides, if I look around I can find stuff that is mostly red or black. There's also black and white posters about. I think I'll do fine.
9. You guys really need to use the spoiler tags in some of these posts. If I didn't see these movies (or wasn't familiar with the things they were based on), some of them would be completely ruined by now. There's a sticky at the top of this forum that shows how to do it. So if you think someone might be bothered by what you are going to say, please make use of it.
10. Well, this has been my plan for quite some time. My current room is a half assed attempt at this. It's not really something I can do until I get my own place... which should be rather soon. I want my entire room to be black and white. Two walls white and the opposing two walls black. The floor would be white and black checkered tiles. Anything that accents the room would be a very bold red shade. Stuff like curtains, bed spreads and so on. Every other item in the room would have to keep this in mind, or it wouldn't go in there. So, that's my basic plan.

setup

Well, I don't know how this would help you... I don't have an amazing setup, because I just have a small room. There's not really enough space for a great sound system to take advantage of everything else I have. Anyway... My television is a 36" Sony Wega. An HDTV model, not standard. I'm very happy with it, although I've had to have the tech support guys come in once for it. That was just a simple degaussing problem though. Excellent picture, and surprisingly good sound. The bass the thing gives out on its own is really effective. I never expected that. The best part is getting to watch DVDs and play certain games in progressive scan. I originally wanted a Tau, but I got the Wega instead. The only problem with it is that Sony uses solid glass picture tubes on their sets still. This basically means their TVs weigh about 100 pounds more than comparable units from other companies. It was a pain in the *** to get it up my steep stairs. The thing is about 260 pounds total, and the weight is not distributed well. DVD player... I got a Panasonic model. I don't think you should spend less than $100 on a DVD player, ever. I spent about $160 on mine when I first got it, mainly because it outputs progressive scan. It also easily reads any type of copied disc. I'm very happy with it. I don't currently have a receiver. My parents do though (it has DTS and Dolby 5.1, and an entire micro speaker set with a subwoofer). I used to have a speaker set with all that as well, which I got VERY cheap because the store was going out of business. I wound up selling it though, because I had no real use for it in my tiny room. If I had to buy a receiver... I'd just make sure it made use of the latest sound technologies from Dolby and others. It would also have to include Dolby II, since many GameCube games take advantage of it. So yeah, that's what I have and want currently. My parents have some Toshiba TV. I bought all my stuff on my own. If you have the money for a really nice TV... save it. Motorola (I believe, maybe it was Mitsubishi... but I doubt it) has made some sort of new technology that basically makes plasma TVs very cheap to manufacture. Prices for 33" to 55" models would be around $1,000 to $2,000, which is far cheaper than the current prices.
12. I think you've gotten all the explanation you need. Everyone is just repeating the same information heh.
13. I really don't know how much of value, or even otherwise, could be said about a site that can be completely navigated in a matter of 5 minutes (that's being generous too) in the first place lol.

The OC

Looks incredibly stupid to me, but I've not watched it. I generally don't watch TV shows where the main kid is supposedly a teenager, but could easily pass for thirty years old.
15. I took this like 5 years ago. The class itself was mindless. I went to a Catholic high school, but they only offer those classes at public schools here. So they had some teacher come over and have a class right after school. We had to buy some archaic book. After that was done, they made us make appointments at the actual drivers ed building. It was more like a trailer. They had these fake car things in there. You had to watch a projected movie and turn your car or press the brake accordingly. The things almost never worked right. At the end we had to take that drivers ed paper exam. The only important part about that is that you need to indentify all the signs on the back exactly. If you don't, they make you take it over. The actual driving stuff wasn't so bad, but at times you'd get teachers who were just jerks. I wound up stopping with about two more classes to go. A year later, I called up and made a new appointment to actually finish. The funny thing was that the day I went in was exactly a year later. A year to the day lol. Finished that easily. Finally, I got to take the actual license test. The worst part was the waiting. You sit there in your car forever. I finally got some stubborn, mean looking guy. He simply didn't talk unless he had to. We drove out of the DMV, maybe two blocks away and then back. Basically I had to only stop at a sign and a light and turn left once. Finally I had to do a Y turn and park in the parking lot. Easy stuff. I wound up getting a very good score. So really, all the crap leading up to the final test was a lot more difficult... if you even want to call it that. It's all just time consuming.
16. Supposed US boxart for those that care. I have too little money and too many better games to buy right now.
17. You're watching the same episode as me heh. We're both in Chicago it seems. Bart sprays their cat, Snowball II. She shakes onto their dog, Santa's Little Helper, who shakes onto Homer. What was the name of the substitute teacher Lisa falls in love with?
18. What the hell is an astrojack? Makes me think of balls and jacks... Twosies! I hope that's not what it is heh.
19. I thought the whole point of the thread was men simply not understanding how the opposite sex works, specifically in terms of friends and male/female relationships. Not all of this other stuff that seems to have arisen out of it. As such, I don't really see what's so offensive about the idea. Everyone knows most men simply don't understand women on those levels. It's true in the opposite way as well. Hell, a good deal of the women posting in here are less offended than some of the guys... so who knows.
20.
Originally posted by Taylor Hewitt I think women are treated very badly these days. I'm not a woman or gay or anything I just think people treat women very badly. Like an item or something. It sickens me. They are people. Treat them like people.
VS.
Originally posted by Taylor Hewitt I think women are treated horrible! They are treated as items by men. All through history in canada and us among other countried women are slaves and treated like dirt. IT SICKENS ME. For those of you who treat women badly shame on you.
It's the same stuff. There's no reason to repeat it with a couple different words. Considering all the time you spend speaking about your personal problems that have nothing to do with the topic, derailing threads that are otherwise going well, bringing back old ones and patting yourself on the back... you have no room to talk. Hell, what you just said could be regulated to a PM anyway, so I suggest you follow your own advice. Besides, this is a thread about what women think... not the social injustices against them for really the entire existance of the human race.
21. Yeah, you said that at the top of the thread already.
22.
Originally posted by Pressure Your post...
It's things like this that make the idea that you're running and deciding the membership of a club dealing with intelligence so ironic and laughable. Give me a break. The no absolutes part doesn't exactly change the statements that say somehow 99% of men are the same, yet no woman is. The example you give is like the thought process of some sort of chimp, not any guy I personally know (and I'm sure any response to this directly will involve some sort of guy/chimp joke because of that, but whatever). Things aren't that simple for anyone or anything.
23. Considering you mention Capcom and SNK, I find it odd you don't name Magical Drop, Mega Man, Metal Slug, Final Fight or anything else. Really though, those games all each go to specific systems sooner or later. Hell, even the recently released to arcades SNK vs Capcom: Chaos has been announced for PS2 and Xbox already. You're welcome to start a thread on such things (I think Sony would be the most obvious choice), but there is almost no reason to ever have a forum on it. There are barely any fighting game threads as it is.

myOtaku

I am me. Like always. I use Semjaza Azazel for everything. I wouldn't bother looking up my profile though, as I don't plan on adding anything to it anytime soon. A complete member list would be nice too. It's odd that it basically requires you to type in names. What are we going to do when there are people like Goku Majin Vegeta 4635634534Xvx? I do not know.

Friends
Originally posted by ReTarr Sounds like you're easily changed Taylor.
 I found this incredibly amusing. I have all sorts of friends. Different in any aspects imaginable. Of course, this makes some better for certain things than others. Some I could really talk to deeply, some I can't. Some are spontaneous and fun, some are quiet and never want to do anything. You never know really. Makes it more interesting at least.
