Freashmen

I hope you're looking forward to Freshman Friday. Ahh.. highschool. Some of the best years of my life. Particularly Junior year. I've never had so much fun at a place that's supposedly so boring.
2. That's how democracy and elections work. It's not as if people have to vote for these people. Those who want to run should simply be able to, although it takes far more than a few thousand dollars to get anywhere lol.
3. Arnold is a good actor mainly because he scores the right parts. The guy has done a lot in his life, something I doubt most people here would ever come close to doing. The idea that he is stupid is laughable as it is. What is this based on? The fact that he has an accent and stars in action movies? I'd like to think Freddie Prinze Jr. and Ben Affleck are morons too, but surprisingly they aren't. Besides he'd make a better governor than the last guy we had here in Illinois. He'd probably be better than a good deal of others too.
4. I'd like Cloud to die. Not any way specific, just die. I'd also like Squall to die, although I have specific methods in mind. I hated that idiot. At least Cloud has some sort of meaningful side to him and a purpose for his existance. Celes was an awesome character in every respect. She had a great power, great backstory, great art... she was just a very well rounded character that I think actually worked well. Especially her scenes with Cid and that other guy (his name escapes me). She almost seemed like the focal point, ahead of Terra even. I'd go with her or Cecil. If FFXII turns out as amazingly as I'm expecting, I'll probably change my vote heh.
5. Review time baby. Sentinel #5 - Yes. This comic is aimed at younger teens. Who cares, it's done so damn well that I enjoy it anyway. Another great issue, although I don't think it's quite up there with #4. More character development, and surprisingly little focus on the Sentinel. Has one of those endings that makes you want to rip your hair out because you don't want to wait another month to find out what happens next. REALLY annoying lol. I really like this series. It has a slight manga edge to it, and a bit of drama... but it's just fun. I don't really think it picked up until #3, but since then it has been great. Batman/Superman #1 - Pretty good. I feel mixed at this point in time. The play on Superman and Batman's similiarities and differences is well done. They also have a pretty good chemistry together, so I feel the dialogue was well done. The only real negative part of it for me was
Metallo. The guy just has almost nothing of interest going on for me, at least at this point in time. It seems like he could be very interesting in the future, but where they went with him this time didn't do much for me just yet.
. The last page is pretty cool though, because some rather unexpected people make an appearance. Supreme Power #1 - Buy this. In case you didn't know, it's about Squadron Supreme. The most impressive comic I've personally read since the Ultimates. Excellent writing, excellent art, good pacing, good dialogue. It seems to do everything right. It has one of those explicit content advisories on it. From what I can tell, it's most likely going to get incredibly violent at times. There is a really obvious sex scene in it, as well as a rather surprising random act of violence. Cool stuff heh. Seriously. Buy this. I wouldn't bother with the Special Edition, but the comic itself rocks. Hyperion is going to be an awesome character. ----------- I'll either edit this or post more later. Depends if this thread gets more activity heh.
6. I am not really sure. There isn't tons of information about it around. Here's the deal though. Our version of the e-Reader is the 2nd version in Japan. From what I understand the Japanese version didn't take full advantage of the e-Reader like the US version did because of that. The new version was released there a while back, but obviously if it's newer than the game... not much can be done. From what I've been able to tell, they basically just made a Japanese version that takes the 2nd version e-Reader's capabilities in mind. The original version of the game only took the 1st version of the e-reader into consideration. That sounds super confusing, but I don't know how better to explain it lol. I'm also under the impression they are getting some new stuff in addition to ours, but I don't really know to what extent. So I'm sorry, but I can't really answer those questions heh. If I do ever find out, I'll post it in here.
7. It's not really a new game. It's basically the US version (which has enhancements over the Japanese one) with a few new additions. Nothing I'd get worked up over, and I doubt it will come out here. It's selling quite well in Japan though.
8. If it's the game, I don't see why you can't post in the existing .hack game threads in the Sony forum. I'm going to have to figure out a way to get those .hack threads more organized... but it's not so simple when there are three games that kind of need to be discussed seperately. Too bad Neocactuar is apparently dead.
9. I think you're thinking of another show. That's not the chimp's name heh.
10. The Cleveland Browns. What's the name of Krusty's chimp?
11. Ultimate Spider-Man Volume 1 is only like the first six issues or so. They're already on #44 or something like that. Spider-Man isn't my thing though, so I can't say much about it. Deathbug is a fan, obviously.
12. I'm not sure what you mean by "full version". What Spider-Man series are you reading? There are a few runs... Ultimate Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, and so on. ------------------------------ I went insane today. I've bought quite a few comics in the past week and a half... but most of them were bought today. I think I walked out with a dozen. I didn't wind up having Jim Lee sign my Batman. There was a line to the other end of the block at like 11:45. He wasn't supposed to sign until 2 PM. Screw that. He was just sitting in there talking to the other guy signing (forget who, I think Quesada), looking at comics. Seemed like a nice guy. He even had an Atari shirt on. I wanted to just be like "Sign my Batman, please." and get ahead of all those others. They seemed impressed by my Marvel luncbox at least. Wednesday is busy for obvious reasons. New comics! Like I said, I bought quite a few. Notably Supreme Power #1 and Batman/Superman #1 were out today. I grabbed both the standard and special editions of Supreme Power and both covers of Batman/Superman. I also grabbed Inhumans #3, Batman #617, New X-Men #143 and #144, Catwoman #20 and #21 and Sentinel #5. Over the past week I got Ultimates # 7 and #11, X-Statix #11 Outsiders #2, Inhumans #2 and Batman #616. So I'm happy. I'll probably write a bit more on this all later. Here's an image of my purchases over the past two weeks...
13. I always get stupid ones like "Your lucky number is 5". I guess some of these places skimp on the fortunes. Your lucky number is 5 under the sheets is kind of eh. Maybe it means five girls is best. That's probably it.
14. I had no idea they censored TM:Black. I got it the week it came out due to the great reviews. I wound up not liking it much. I would have liked to get that free online disc for it, but apparently Sony isn't giving those away for free with the Network Adapter anymore. :(
15. I hope by "tomorrow" you mean Wednesday. I don't want to go in Thursday too heh. I've still not read Ultimates #10 or #11. I finally got #7 the other day. I'm not going to read them until I get #8 and #9 so I can get the whole story. I've been hearing good things about Catwoman. Funny that you mention Flash, because from what I understand... the current issues are supposedly amazingly good. I've been massively turned off by the most recent Ultimate X-Men issues, so I've been advised to get New X-Men. It's at #144 now I think, but the current arc starts at #142. I'm hoping to grab them today. Apparently at WizardWorld Chicago this weekend, Marvel will be announcing that New X-Men will relaunch as simply X-Men. The current writer won't be involved after New X-Men #154 though, so I don't know what is going on. Otherwise, I have a few other things I want to get. Specifically, Supreme Power #1, which looks excellent. Sentinel #5 is my other must-have. I'm also looking for something called Quicken something-or-other... but I've yet to see it around. These things are like a form of crack, I swear.
16. The Oreo issue was a big enough deal to get companies to actually start labeling their products with a statistic on the amount of transfat in them. I still think people are really underestimating the problems with that stuff... and still don't seem to get the point that the guy did the lawsuit only to bring attention to the problem. The lawyer even right out said it once it got national attention. Otherwise, this thread gives me a headache. Even if we just gave storms numbers instead of names, someone would find something to complain about. I don't know how these people get elected anymore. I don't really know how saying something like "lily white" really makes this lady sound interested in equality in general anyway. If I came up with some stereotypical African name that I got off that TV show roots, fifty people would jump on my back. There are hurricanes with names I've never even heard of. There are far more important racial issues than this. This lady just wants attention.
17. Jeez. You guys need to age a little more before you have these middle-age life crisis episodes heh.
18. Happy Birthday sire. There is no importance to 17. You're already old enough to drive. You still can't legally smoke, drink, vote, gamble, or even go into porn shops. Crazy! I'm assuming you live in the US anyway, I don't know if you do. Those rules are all different around the world lol. You get my point, I hope. Birthdays never meant much to me as it is. I'm older every day I'm alive. Who gives a ****. Anyway, I'm turning 21 on the 9th. Nothing of importance other than random people telling me they want to take me out to drink on my birthday. No thanks.
19. I believe Geocities doesn't allow direct image linking. Which means you need another host. Don't ask me what a good replacement is though. I pay for my hosting.

Misfits

The funny thing is that the Misfits have a split EP with Balzac. It might actually be out now. I don't know tons about the Misfits past honestly. Anything I would say would just be repeated here. The Misfits are a band I've always really liked, but never really got that far into. Ironically, I know far more about the band Danzig itself than the Misfits. I do have a cool Misfits hat though :p I've always meant to buy that CD set that comes in a coffin... but I've never gotten around to it.
21. FLCL won't make sense. You have to see all six episodes to understand it, and even then... you have to fill in a lot of the blanks yourself. I should add that the ending theme (among other shows in the miniseries) is done by The Pillows. I love that band, and everyone should check them out if they like Japanese rock.
22. I might be interested amibasuki. I'll send off a PM when I get home from school. Anime is just so damn expensive. I paid $90 just for the first season of Ranma 1/2. DVDs average something like $25 to $30 apiece. Considering there are generally few interesting extras and not so great picture quality, it's quite a rip off. I understand that they have to make their money back. They don't sell tons of DVDs, and they have to pay the licensing cost... But when I can get Simpsons Season Two for $30, and it's four DVDs, there's a problem. I've not bought any anime in a while, outside of Castle in the Sky. Thankfully Disney priced their Ghibli stuff competitively, and they're easy to find. It's hardly worth it anymore outside of that. Plus I have to chime in and say that most anime right out sucks. I am not going to waste my time with it. The only anime I'm watching currently is Hale Nochi Guu... which is one of the best anime I've ever seen. Sadly it hasn't been picked up for US release yet, so I'm just with online fansubs. I totally refuse to buy those cheap bootleg, Region 0 Hong Kong DVDs that I see so many people online buy (even those here). If it's not going to be released in the US that's one thing, but I don't know what you're helping but not contributing to the US sales of anime. It just makes the companies think no one is interested. Other than that... the only TV anime I watch is Lupin the 3rd, which I love. I'm really not interested in Kenshin, DBZ, Trigun or any of those. I've still yet to bother with Cowboy Bebop... and I checked out FLCL years ago. That Cyborg 009, or whatever, looks pretty fun though.
23. He said heavy rock, not heavy metal. In any case, I don't see what it matters. Disturbed and LP can be more similiar at times than many people would like to admit. Godsmack and Disturbed also have a very similiar sound at times. Metallica still puts stuff out, obviously... so that argument doesn't work either. I think the main idea here is that people who focus on this sort of music will most likely be interested in all of those bands. That doesn't change the fact that the thread pretty much sucks, but that's another story. Really though, TN is right on several levels. The thread is rather useless. Metallica and LP have been talked about to the point that I doubt anyone has anything worth saying anymore. I'd also like to reiterate his point about broadening your musical horizons. It seems like everyone here listens to the same five bands that all fall into the Radio Top 25 somewhere.
24. I'm planning on seeing it still. If nothing else, it's just a fanboy's dream. I think I have to see it because of that. The scene in the trailer where Freddy jumps out Crystal Lake is probably the best thing I've seen from it so far. I didn't see this posted... plotline from IMDB:
The ultimate forms of Hell are about to be unleashed on Earth once again. Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) is desparate to kill, but he can't since the parents of Elm Street have been doping their kids up with dream suppressants. So, he manipulates hulking, hockey-masked serial killer Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger), through visions of his mother (Paula Shaw) and gulit, to go to Elm Street and dispatch the kids so the parents will think that Freddy has returned. But his plans don't go according to schedule when Jason discovers that he has been manipulated, which really sends him over the egde. So, it's up to teenagers Will (Jason Ritter), Lori (Monica Keena), and Kia (Kelly Rowland), along with a few other survivors of both killers, to lure Jason back to Camp Crystal Lake to kill Freddy once and for all...
