1. Yeah, they were announced a while back. They're coming out in September. Onyx and Flame. Japan has Onyx right now, but not Flame to my knowledge. I'd wish they'd being the Pearl color here. You can get the Torchic SP off the Pokemon Center site for only $100. I figure I'll order it since I like the color (metallic orange). Someone apparently stole my SP.
2. I've learned to just not post in threads about bands I can't stand (other than LP, since I was just being sarcastic considering we've had 10 others just like it). I don't see a need for this sort of nonsense, and it only seems to happen in these "punk" threads. Funny how fans of a supposedly anarchist/rebellious form of music are so concerned over image, but whatever. I should add that this last part is more of a general statement based on many things I've seen, most of which hasn't happened here. I know someone will take that far more personally than it was meant to be.
3. Deleted the extra one. I don't know what to tell you about the other problems.

My real name is Tony. There isn't some complex reasoning as to why, especially considering it's my middle name. I don't care what it means in some name book.
5. It's probably only a translation issue because Nintendo itself is publishing the game. Square got FFX out in a very quick span of time here, and it had a good translation if you totally negate the voice acting (which FF:CC doesn't have). So who knows.
6. Black, as a color, represents submission, among other things. Take it from there. I also suggest you take a color theory class heh.

I think he meant OB screen names... not real names. My name is too complicated to explain, and frankly, I'm quite tired of doing it. In short, it's the name of an angel, or perhaps two. I've read too many stories and such about angels and each seems to like to translate things differently.
9. Old people give me advice all the time, and I don't ever think they have any idea what they're talking about even if they do. The age of someone doesn't matter in terms of this stuff. Two years age over another doesn't exactly amount to much.
10.
Originally posted by Shy I second that motion. Cooly McCool should be Vice Mascot of OB, and he can take the position of Mascot-in-Chief if something terrible were to happen to Bosko. They look alike, perhaps they are related...?
Heh. I love this guy lol. I should nominate Dancing Hilter and "This ain't rock n' roll, this is genocide!" I think he'd win. I thought it was funny, at the least.
11. Apparently there are plans to take advantage of the GBP's multiplayer possibilities in the future... I've heard that Sword of Mana allows for two player on the same screen on the GBP, but I don't know how true that is as of yet.
12. I was at the Best Buy I originally bought this disc at yesterday. I only paid $10... So why in the world are they charging $40 for it!?. That's freaking insane. If they only want to sell it with new GCs, they should label it as such... not charge an insane amount of money for 5 demos. Nintendo should really do something about that.
13. Lots of long time entertainers dying lately.
14. Jason X? Ghost Ship? Final Destination? (Well, the Final Destination 2 is surprisingly WAY better... Jason X is like a pure camp, fanboy movie -- much like Freddy vs. Jason, although X is to a much smaller extent). We're confusing comedies and horror here heh. You guys sure are scared easily lol. The original Ghost Ship was good. The only thing the second has going for it is the opening scene, which is probably one of the coolest mass deaths I can think of in recent years. The whole 60s motif was great too. What was left of the movie was horribly thrown off by shoddy industrial music that made me want to kill myself when I heard it. It was so out of place. And I love industrial. I'm half expecting to see someone mention the remake of House on Haunted Hill, Jeepers Creepers or Darkness Falls. I can't stand any of these. This type of horror just isn't for me, I guess. Cube was a good one. I don't know how scary it is, but it's good. Just avoid Cube 2.
15. Anyone that thinks Enix isn't anything compared to Squaresoft is crazy and doesn't know their history lol. No matter how you slice it, DQ is still in front of FF in terms of popularity and staying power in sales in Japan. Enix is also a very profitable company, unlike Square who has faltered quite a bit in recent years. DQ7 was the biggest selling PSX game in the country, despite being launched at the end of its life cycle. Perhaps if you compare recent games, this could be true. DQ7 suffered from the art direction of Heartbeat, which was responsible for the older DQ games. This is the reason is looks like utter crap, as they apparently wanted a "nostalgic" look. It should be noted that Enix ALWAYS outsources the graphics engine for Dragon Quest games to outside companies and does the rest itself. DQ8's graphics are being done by Level 5, who is most notably known for Dark Cloud 2 and the upcoming True Fantasy Live Online for Xbox. The translation also sucked horribly, and was obviously rushed. Enix's earlier games on PSX were all translated by Sony, which did horrible rush jobs as well (Star Ocean: Second Story is a great example). Star Ocean 3 and Dragon Warrior 8 look to fix both of these problems (especially DW8 if you've seen the latest stuff, it's amazing -- and for all the whiners out there, the fights are 3rd person now heh). Then you have games like Valkyrie Profile on the opposite end. It looks fantastic, sounds fantastic and is really unique in concept. The story is great, the characters are good, the translation is excellent and it has amazingly good voice acting. I'm apparently the resident Enix/Tri-Ace fanboy, so I'm most likely in the very small majority. I'm not going to argue if Square or Enix is better, but to think that lowly of Enix really gets to me. Really, though, it's beneficial for both. Square and Enix are both monstrous companies in Japan, with Enix doing substantially better financially thanks to their foundation. In Japan, the release of a new Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior) game is a pseudo national holiday practically. So many people would skip work and school to buy it that they forced Enix to only start selling it on established holidays or weekends. Words from the game are now part of their vocabulary and even appear in dictionaries there. Enix is part of culture. Meanwhile, in the US, Square is doing very well, while Enix is basically non-existant. They've opened and closed their local offices twice now, and went several years without a US branch whatsoever. They recently closed up again, thanks to this merger. Enix can help Square in Japan, and Square can help Enix here. At first I was scared that Square would somehow infect tons of Enix games, but thankfully they still remain seperate entities. This isn't going to make FF suddenly like DW or vice-versa. It's strictly a financial/publishing thing that really won't affect the end user... but most likely will give them far more money to make far better games, and I'd assume they'd have good influence on eachother thanks to their rather different histories. So I think it's a good idea.

Fable

Picking it up ASAP is going to be a problem considering it was delayed until well into next year heh. Seems like they've been doing that with a lot of Xbox's bigger games lately.
17. We had a thread on this in here somewhere. It had an odd name though that had nothing to do with the game, so I can't seem to find it. There's one going on in Sony though, so I really don't see a reason to have two going. It's just repeating information. It's located here: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22393 So check it out if you'd like.
18. I would be tired of RPGs if I didn't realize what was out there. FF isn't the final frontier of RPGs, it's not the most original, it isn't the best written. It has a decent amount of good qualities that come together and a nice amount of money to market it, something no other RPG-centric company has in the US. If you're tired of FF, like me, you just have to look around more. I guess I'd have to go with RPGs, PC and console, and their various offshoots. Fallout, Planescape, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate II, Earthbound, Lunar 2, Persona 2, Divine Divinity, Elder Scrolls series, Ultima series, Front Mission 3, Vagrant Story, Lufia, Lufia 2, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Skies of Arcadia, Beyond Oasis, Shining Soul, Shining Force 3, Shadow Hearts, Okage, Thousand Arms, Tactics Ogre, Dragon Warrior series, Ogre Battle 64 and so on. All of which are very different games, I think. Some much better than others. That's only a fraction of what's out there. Other than that... music games. Such as Samba de Amigo, Mad Maestro, Frequency and Gitaroo Man.
19. They all suck and wish they were as cool as my avatar... which I call Cooly McCool to emphasize his coolness. If I had to vote... I guess Charles. That's only assuming there is some sort of assault rifle pressed against my head, though. I can't say I find any of them hysterical.
20.
Originally posted by Mist I saw it when I was six, and am terribly scared of crows and seagulls. (Which doesn't help because I live close to Chicago's infamous Lake Shore Drive....)
The funny thing is that I tend to see more seagulls and crows away from the lake than I do when I'm by it. I see seagulls in lots of random parking lots nowhere near water heh. We have massive black crows in Chicago. In the fall there are tons and tons of them around my house, and I live in the city... this isn't some backwoods suburb thing. Some of them are well over a foot tall. Finally, the only other Chicago/Illinois person I know of on OB is back heh.
21. Here's a new one coming soon. I saw it on GAF, it's from TV Guide: "It's a man's world. And ABC's bachelors aren't the only ones running it. Bravo's Boy Meets Boy (Premiers Tuesday, July 29, 9 pm/ET) flips the script on dating shows by having gay bachelor James look for love in a pool of 15 men. The catch: some of his suitors are "closeted" straight men. A $25,000 prize is at stake, but if James picks a straight guy, the breeder gets the loot. Boy, oh boy."
22. I only have the US set. It's quite nice, I think. The picture quality is decent, although there is some noise on the print. Some of the lines shake every once in a while too. It's not bad, and totally forgivable considering it's a TV show. Most people won't even notice this, but I'm picky about it all. The show definitely never sounded better. There are some nice extras... Deleted scenes and an animatic for the pilot. That's basically like the black and white sketch version they send to the final animators. It comes in a little box in these neat little slimline DVD cases, which I think are actually quite cool. It's definitely worth the money. My only gripe is the lack of a play all option, just like with the Simpsons sets.
23. I've had one surgery that I can remember. Removed a cyst on my wrist. There was nothing scary or bad about it though. I also have a scar that looks like I tried to slit my wrists the wrong way (horizontally, rather than vertically). I guess the thing that probably affected my life most was the death of my dad. I don't know how painful it was. When I was told, I just sat there for about an hour. That's a hard thing to take in and actually believe. It didn't seem real.
24. The set is only like $28 to $35 if you look around. I'm sure for a bit more if you buy it at some place like Sam Goody, which price gouges. If you live in Europe, or have a Region Free DVD player, they're up to the third season on DVDs already.
25. The only reason they are airing anymore at this point is because FOX preempted so many of them. There are actually only 4 seasons, but because of what FOX has done... they are making it 5 seasons. CN wants to get the rights to new episodes of Family Guy and Futurama, but FOX won't allow it. The funny thing is that the Family Guy DVD set is selling excellently, and the show is pulling in better ratings for the 18 to 34 crowd than both Leno and Letterman, which it is up against. FOX screwed themselves over, and instead of doing something about it, they are still trying to mess it up for everyone. Apparently because of this all, FOX wants Seth McFarlane to make some sort of film based on Family Guy. I don't know what will become of that. Anyway, Futurama is one of my favorite shows. I think you can trace a decline in quality on the Simpsons to when Futurama actually started. Groening's influence moved on to a totally different show. I think the only people who hate it just either think it is a Simpsons rip-off or make too many comparisons without giving it a fair chance. It's one of the best shows on TV, in my opinion. The DVD set is worth getting if you haven't yet.
