1. This thread really turned into a bunch of crap heh.
2. Well, you might as well just say Square with the stuff you mentioned lol. There's nothing from Enix at all in there, and all of that stuff was before the merger even existed. I don't really know how many of you guys play Enix games though, as it seems like there are very few of you here lol. Personally, I think Koichi Sugiyama owns any other videogame composer there is. He is mostly known for the Dragon Quest series, which in my opinion has the best music out of any video game series there is. If you're interested, there are plenty of arranged and orchestrated versions of the songs from DQ games. I'm hoping DQ8 makes use of orchestrated versions rather than midis yet again. Your best bet for those two tracks you wanted is on #gamemp3s on IRC.
3. Apparently vB 3 has some sort of option in it to automatically search for similiar threads. As for the other idea... I was thinking this: We don't really need more than 1 thread for each game anyway. For example, take the Metroid Prime thread. We talked about it before it came out, then when we got it and helped eachother later... all in one thread. So I think that if there are more official style threads that include everything about a game, we'll be a lot better off.
4. All my knowledge of the Tour de France comes from the opening scenes of Pee-wee's Big Adventure. In other words, I know absolutely nothing about it. When does it start?
5. I also thought the girl looked a LOT like Natalie Portman. It was a good movie, I think. I felt Johnny Depp saved yet another average movie from pluging into the depths of mediocrity though. I don't really think it would have been anywhere as involving without him. He did such a good job that all the other actors seemed painfully average by comparison... Which is odd, considering this is nowhere near one of his best roles.
6. I don't remember most of my dreams. Generally they are just very morbid. I wouldn't call them nightmares, as they don't scare me or wake me up in such a way. They're just horribly violent most of the time. I had a dream where my family and I drove around in a van in the 70s. I don't even know why. I mostly remember the ending of it, which involved drugs and was just really messed up. Lots of violence, that's for sure. I had another dream about a witch when I was small. She was only a couple feet tall and she kept threatening me. I grabbed her, took her too the bathroom and began cutting her into pieces and kept flushing them down the toilet. She was eventually all gone. A long time later, I had another dream... were I lifted up my covers and saw her boots. I got so scared that I went back to sleep. She was in quite a few of my dreams, strangely. I have more, but I'll just write the most recent one. I don't really know what it was about. I was looking into the mirror and I bit my tongue. I opened my mouth and looked into its reflection, and I bit my tongue again. I started taking really big bites out of it, but it never hurt... so I kept going. I wound up eating almost the entire thing, and then I woke up. I figure that last one has some sort of significance, but I don't know what. Perhaps that I'm keeping myself from saying things I know I should say.
7. You could play Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. It fits most of these categories, and is, in my opinion, the best PS2 game there is.

I know you guys probably didn't notice, but there is a recent thread on it in the PC forum. They're the same game, so I suggest you just check that thread out instead... they'll just mimick eachother anyway heh. http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14987
9. When I was younger I had this idea of what if the entire world is the dream of something even bigger? Or even the universe? I never really got any deeper with it, but these are questions that you can't really answer because they are totally theoretical and based on basically nothing.
10.
Originally posted by AzureWolf I always wanted to ask this: do you have to be good at hand-made art to major in computer graphics? Haha, I'm just curious: I would never pursue a career in art because I have no taste (reactions to my tastes: what? That's SO ugly! Why didn't you get the other one?).
You don't really need any extreme talent at normal art. I've met people who can draw and people who can't. What matters really is good layout skills and an eye for design and color. Something can be the coolest thing you ever saw, but if it doesn't fit what the client wanted or has an obscure layout that doesn't work... you're screwed. So basically, some of both heh. Computer graphic designers aren't generally artists in that sense.
11. In any case, people do nothing but talk about FF in there as it is... so I don't see the point.
12. I hated most of Nick's live action stuff. Hey Dude, Space Cases, Alex Mack, Roundhouse... all that. Never was my thing. I always loved Muppet Babies, but that didn't even originate on Nick. It moved there much later. Ren and Stimpy (TNN has new ones know, but they're homosexual for some odd reason), Rocco's Modern Life, Salute Your Shorts and so on are all great. I must admit I do like Hey Arnold.
13. I believe to get into the FBI you need two years of college. From what I remember, anything you really want. Then you can apply and see if you make it, eventually. I'm majoring in interactive media, whatever that means.. Basically video production, audio production, web design, computer graphics, etc. I don't feel I'm great at any of these, but my favorite is definitely web design. I hope to get to do that at some point. I'm technically a Junior... although I've skipped quarters and still haven't gotten courses that really challenge me. Stupid core nonsense.
14. Yeah. I'm not quite sure how you missed it considering it's been at the top for days heh. Oh well.
15. Hendrix has a lot of warmth in his playing, but he isn't an amazing technical player at all. He's more about rhythm and hitting higher notes at the right spots. The group has some mostly guitar pieces, but none have ever stood out for me. It depends on what you prefer, I guess. Personally, I can't say playing guitars with teeth has something that would make me pick Hendrix (or anyone) over anything else. In that case I should list Peter Frampton because he talked with his guitar. I'm surprised no one mentioned Zappa. He might not have been the absolute best, but he knows a hell of a lot more than most about composition and what really works. Most people don't seem to remember the guy anymore, from what I've seen. Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen and John Petrucci (the last guy is of Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment... at least check out LTE, if you haven't) are also good picks. I agree with most of the others mentioned. In the end I'd probably go with John Petrucci, personally.
16. I spend time here and at the Gaming-Age Forums. Those are the only two forums I current bother with. At GAF, there are only two basic ranks. You're either a Member or a Junior Member. If something of interest happens, a mod may give you a custom title (I currently have one). Really, I do base a lot of things around that Junior Member status at GAF. The vast majority of awful posts are from these people. They post old news, talk down to established members despite them obviously knowing far less about nearly everything, and so on. As soon as I see a pointless or stupid thread it's either from an established moron that people keep around for fun or a Junior Member. On the other hand GAF's active userbase is massive by comparison and there are far more problems, and far more good members to compare the bad ones to. There is also a way larger number of just plain bad members. That's the end of that story. The point is, that generally people that fit in the Newbie category have little idea what is going on and everyone knows it. It doesn't matter what the hell you refer to it as. There's generally an adjustment period for most people. I try not to base any of my actions on someone's status here. I don't think one person here could ever give an example of me doing that either. I don't purposely pick on the new people at all, but you generally can just tell the sort of stuff a new member will post and you mostly come up right. So yes, this is a stereotype. People here complain and complain about being called Newbie. People here honestly think that replacing that word with another would change anything? (Go see the current thread in Suggestions for an example of that). People (well, me anyway) judge you on how stupid you personally act, not on the Newbie status. The Newbie status just adds to it, and gives people more to pick on about... but that, for me, is after the fact. After I read the horribly pointless post about "Who likes Link!?!?! :D ;) :bluesweat" in the Zelda forum. I could call new members "Savior of the Universe," but if they all turned out to be moronic, then Savior of the Universe would wind up having the same connotation as Newbie. It would be just as derrogatory because people would make it so. It wouldn't solve anything. Of course, then you have the new members that somehow slip through the cracks and really don't ever get better. They somehow wind up being Members or who knows what else. Personally, I have more problems with those sorts of people than I do with the new people still getting used to this place. In any case, this whole title thing is incredible stupid. I wouldn't mind if they were totally ditched altogether.
17. Why do we even need titles at all? They serve no purpose. They're just as meaningless as post counts. I don't see why we need anything more than the current "Registered" field, honestly. Just call everyone either a member or some sort of staff, or something to that extent. All these fields seem so pointless. Either people think they aren't important, or people ***** about having them. Anyway, personally, I don't support any idea that has members or mods giving points (or whatever, some sort of rank basically) to anything. There's too much of a chance to abuse it and play favorites.
18. Looks great, as usual. I really like the frames/borders you have going here... the only thing is that they do not fit this picture. I think they'd be excellent if used in a Castlevania/vampire/gothic style piece. I think a border that matches that railing in front of him would look far nicer. What is that brown thing in his left hand?
19. LAN is important for a couple reasons. 1.) If that Nintendo online rumor pans out, F-Zero GX won't be partof it. and 2.) The latest rumor is some kids in Japan have Kirby's Air Ride hooked up via a PC to another GC. So basically they have the GC online thinking it's doing LAN. The lag is horrible at this point, but considering the game came out a couple days ago, they're doing amazingly well I'd say. So LAN would have been nice, if that ever gets going heh.
20. Chris can be short for Christine, among other things.
21.
Originally sigged by PiroMunkie Some will die in hot pursuit In fiery auto crashes. Some will die in hot pursuit While sifting through my ashes.
That was amusing. I've read this, don't ask me if it's 100% true heh. Supposedly, Possum Kingdom wasn't even the single... It was a b-side on the single. One day some DJ just flipped the vinyl (or whatever) and played it, and it just gained in popularity. They wound up doing a video for it eventually, which was quite good. The thing I LOVE about The Toadies is how satirical the writing was. Possum Kingdom and Tyler seemed like almost nice, normal love songs if you listen to them and don't really pay attention to the lyrics... But if you do pay attention, they are rather violent and amusing songs about these girls that basically wanted nothing to do with him. I think that's my favorite part of the band... not to mention they're just solid overall. So check out Tyler at least. They also did a nice live cover of Where Is My Mind? by the Pixies. I was surprised he could hit that high of an octave.
22. A lot of people are clamoring for a track editor... but I wonder how easy that would have been to implement. F-Zero X is very simple graphically, while F-Zero GX isn't. I can imagine that just being rather hard on the hardware for some reason. Still, I would have liked to seen it... especially now that they are finally putting that SD adapter out. At least you can make custom car decals... heh. I still don't get why LAN play was removed.
23. I think people should just stop being whiners about something that doesn't even matter. It's a title that changes based on how much you write, not how intelligent that writing is. Frankly, there are some Otaku who probably are still at a stereotyped "newbie" intelligence.
24. Banzai originated in the UK apparently, so I don't know how much FOX can be blamed for it. The concept seemed fun, but all the commercials seemed like they were mostly just exploiting people... old, handicapped, whatever else.
25. I'm not Chris heh. I figured that's the tablet you used, as it's one of the less expensive ones. I think I'll just save up a few hundred and see what I can get with that lol. 3x5 working area seems so tiny, but you seem to manage just fine.
