1. Except for the fact that you cannot tell if the person has spoilers or just blank areas unless they specifically say. Plus they don't exactly work at all for people on the Industrial skin. The backgrounds aren't white... I can't argue that this doesn't look far nicer though lol. Oh well, I'm being a baby and defending my reasoning for making the spoiler tags like that lol. It doesn't matter to me, really. In any case, Tori got me interested enough to bother to read these things... but I guess I have to start from the beginning.
2. They still make enough money to justify putting them out in theaters. They make at least twenty million off them, if they're unlucky, which is more than a good deal of movies that get released... Especially considering all they do is dub over a movie that was released in Japan in the first place. Pokemon is still the biggest anime I can think of that was released widely in US theaters, so they really don't have much competition in that regard. How popular it is on TV has little to do with it, I'd say (and it's hardly doing badly). Then you take into consideration video sales, which add up to even more in addition to theater sales. It doesn't have to make $100 million to be a success thanks to all of those factors, despite how many people might be sick of it. There's no way the film even took anywhere near that to produce in the first place. They aren't exactly the height of animation lol. In any case, you don't have to see it as it is. I wish there were no more Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen anything lol, but I don't have to see them... so what do I care really. I guess people play Pokemon off as a fad... Sure many kids grew out of it, but the main thing is that the media moved onto other things. The newest games already sold a few million in Japan and a few million in the US, so it's still going pretty well.
3. The PS3 is far from fully designed. Working on a system and having it designed is something completely different. Most of the stuff going on with it at this point is theoretical, just like with any other next gen console. They all start planning them before the current ones are even out of the gate. So basically, the PSX is still easily marketable as a test for PS3 ideas. They still have plenty of time.
4. WBKO is wrong, I'm afraid. I'm not sure if it's another station on the show, but it's definitely not the main one. It has those two announcers (Bill and Marty, I think)... they give Bart and elephant.
5. They send in a photo of a forest fire. What actually winds up winning is a photo that Marge sends in. A picture of Bart and Lisa as babies, sitting on a toilet together. What is the name of Springfield's main radio station? I have much harder questions, if people want me to post them... In the last thread, they wound up getting unanswered though heh.
6. I know you guys got Sara's PMs... but I really have to close this with or without your consent at this point. It's not as though there is anything against you, or that we want you to stop from posting another thread on the subject. I think the thread started out fine, but it hasn't really kept up that same standard. It's kind of spiraled off into an off-topic discussion between two people. When the poetry is discussed, it's reserved to a couple lines at most. The last few poems, I don't even know what to say about them. They all have the exact same form. You repeat the same words over and over, and then write them all out at the end. I cannot debate whether or not these count as poetry or not, as that is something different to everyone. However, I think this crosses into something else entirely, which is: It really just seems like you two are using this thread to just have a chat at this point, and sticking poems into it so we'll leave it alone. You should really use PMs or instant messages for this stuff. So yes, I am closing this. Like Sara said in her PM, you are free to start another thread... But I suggest you try to put some more effort into it compared to this one. This is a creative writing forum, and it has to be held to some sort of standard in order for it to work well. Something along the lines of how this started off is much more acceptable, like I said at the start of this post. I don't think that's too much to ask, and we all know you are capable of it based on the first pages of this thread. Sorry for the inconvenience, but hopefully this decision is understandable. Sorry about the long explanation, but I wanted to make things clear so there are less problems.
7. I'm sure a bunch of people will be like "What a stupid name!", but it's true. I think it reflects the nature of most of their songs though. They really are just random, very much like the Pixies. The interesting thing is that the Butthole Surfers are much older than the Pixies, and certainly much older that people seem to think. They are mostly known for the song Pepper off of Electriclarryland, which was released in 1996, I believe. Most people seem to think they've been around since then because of that, but in reality they've been a band since at least 1983. Anyway, I'm sure most people know Pepper... At least people around my age, as it was played on the radio very often when it was released: I don't mind the sun sometimes, the images it shows I can taste you on my lips and smell you in my clothes Cinnamon and sugary and softly spoken lies You never know just how you look from someone else's eyes. Anyway, just wondering what anyone else thinks of this band... whether they just know Pepper, or far more. Personally, my favorite songs are Cough Syrup and TV Star (both off Electriclarryland). Their website has plenty of MP3s for download and a radio stream as well... so check it out. 8. Yeah. I have. I've not seen the movie, though. I was pretty annoyed when the soundtrack was released to stores, because it only had like two tracks from the actual movie that Manson did. The rest was a bunch of metal and nu-metal stuff I had no interest in. Luckily the actual tracks from the movie are available online if you look around. I found them quite good and they seemed fitting of a movie of that type... but I'd need to actually see it to say for sure.
9. Well, I don't know how much more it is grounded in reality than Star Trek... but personally, I've never liked Star Trek. I simply can't. Stargate SG-1 is a freaking awesome show though. I've yet to see an episode I didn't like, although some are better than others. I've not seen it in quite some time, but I used to like to catch it when FOX aired reruns late on Sunday nights. Only sci-fi TV series I could stomach other than X-Files (and even that fell apart), although I've not watched many of the newer series.
10. Wiggum was actually replaced by Barney. I watched the episode. There are three dogs in the lead... but they only mention two that win. Whirlwind was first, Dog o' War was second, and Santa's Little Helper was last. Based on the rest of the race, I'd guess that Quadreped was third. At his birthday party, a band plays Happy Birthday for Mr. Burns. What band are they, and what band does Mr. Burns mistake them for?
11. DKC has always been one of those games I personally thought was very overrated by nearly everyone. Not to say that it's bad, but I honestly don't consider it anything more than average. I'm mostly looking forward to Nintendo's Mario and Donkey Kong... because that's how I like my Donkey Kong games personally. I love the original arcade game and the awesome Game Boy version. In any case, I did get to play the GBA version, and I can't say I was impressed. The gameplay is the same, and the controls are carried over fine. The graphics took a hit though. Not in the main characters really, but mostly in stuff such as the backgrounds that are nowhere near as detailed. The music also doesn't even compare as well, with a few songs that are noticeably different... most likely thanks to the GBA's lack of a sound chip.
12. You simply cannot compare Wario games to Mario games in any sense, if you ask me. Other than maybe the first Wario Land game, they have gone in an entirely different direction. They are generally far more puzzle based, with an emphasis on finding the best way to beat enemies rather than simply stomping on them. Personally, I think the Wario games are among the best stuff Nintendo put out... so I was surprised they had Treasure make this game, rather than doing it themselves, Wario World always seemed like it was those Wario Land games thrusted into 3D. It never struck me as clever though, but I've heard good things about the level layouts and enemy designs. I'm most likely going to rent it soon. My only gripe would be what I hear about the length. It wouldn't be as annoying if Wario Land 4 wasn't also a VERY short game as well. I wish they'd do something the size of Wario Land 3. I'd be happy then.
13. The song is Maybe I'm Amazed. Marge starts a protest to fight against Itchy and Scratchy thanks to its violence. What is the name of the group she starts? I'm looking for the acronym (initials), but bonus points if you know what it stands for.
14. His name is Cecil. He's in charge of contruction of the Springfield Dam, which is never filled with concrete. They both wind up getting arrested. When Moe has Homer "steal" his car so he can cash in the insurance money... what movie does Homer wind up watching at the drive-in?
15. I just haven't had time to update the club listings. I'm stuck at my grandmother's while my mom is sick... so I don't exactly have access to anything I'd like to do. I can't even call anyone here, unless it's local... They don't have long distance. It's awful heh. Anyway, back to all this stuff.
16. It wasn't Shirley Temple. It was Little Vicky. Barney winds up getting drunk on non-alchoholic wine. In the episode where it was revealed that Principal Skinner wasn't the real Seymour Skinner... what was his real name?
17. I don't see how those cancel eachother out whatsoever. They're not even used in the same paragraph. They're used in the same context basically as well. I don't know what English classes you guys took. I never understood what was so horrible about a gay guy acting interested anyway. I've had gay guys hit on me, and I don't handle it any differently than I do with a girl I'm not interested in. It's not like it makes you gay or something. People are insecure. I don't know how true it is that gay guys don't hit on straight people, but maybe I don't come off "blatantly straight" as TN puts it lol. I like the new banner by the way heh. -------------- Edit for below... Heh. Sarcasm isn't always easy to pick out on here... Especially with people I don't know. My apologies.
18. Personally, I'm just as annoyed by public displays of affection by straight couples... generally moreso, as many straight guys feel some need to go nuts on the girl on street corners, bus stops, ticket lines or whatever else. There's many gay people in Chicago, but particularly in certain areas that seem to cater more to the gay community. I've been to these areas, and they're a lot of fun. I've seen plenty of gay guys kiss and I've yet to find it any more annoying than any straght couple. Very few even really seem to get into it, unlike straight couples. Most straight guys making out in public seem to feel some need to jump down girls' throats. So yeah, I just don't like having to watch that in general lol. Gay or straight. Anyway, I'm not really going to address the other stuff because it doesn't even need addressing in my opinion. Besides, TN took care of it nicely heh.
19. Well, he's been in a few movies. One is Party Monster. I'm not sure if it was released yet or not. He's also doing the soundtrack to the revision of Texas Chainsaw Massacre (already did the Resident Evil soundtrack). He had written a script around the time Holy Wood came out, and shopped it around. From what I've read, places were interested, but not sure what to do with it because of it's strange subject matter. So nothing has come of it yet.
20. People who have no idea what they are talking about on a very regular basis (everyone does it sometimes, which is forgivable). Most of them know who they are, as they try to play off that they understand it all when they know they don't. It's all conscious decisions and lies. I also can't stand that sound flip flop sandals make when people walk in them. It's obnoxious.
21. It boggles my mind how obvious it is that no one here appreciates simplicity at all. It's like no one knows what to do when they see it, and so it's just "Hmm. It's not good. I can't think of anything wrong, but you know it stinks anyway... so I don't need to really explain. Simple = bad" Okay? I don't see how it's not a wallpaper either. Size makes a wallpaper, not some specific set of rules. Perhaps if she threw 10 Photoshop filters over it, it would be fine. Sorry to sound like an ***, but that's how this place seems like to me most of the time in general. I'm not basing it solely on what is said on here (and I know for a fact I'm not taking a few of the things said in here the way they were meant), although obviously that's my stepping stone into this. Just making a point. In any case, I really like it. I actually set it as my background the second I saw it. I finally saw Totoro and I loved it, and I know from past experience that you do as well. I think this is very well done and fitting for the character, despite the low amount of color. It's not the most amazing thing I've ever seen, but I do like it.
22. It isn't really a gaming console. It IS a high end all-in-one multimedia device. The $600 price tag alone guarantees that. I have no idea if that was a suggestion from you for discussion, but whatever. At this stage, I really think Sony is releasing PSX as a test. Basically to see what they need and don't need in PS3, what people would actually use and how much people are actually willing to spend. The most annoying thing is that I can no longer refer to the Playstation by its original acronym which was PSX. Blah.
23. Lance Murdock. What's the name of the man that sold the monorail to Springfield?
24. They are in order from left to right... Ginger Fish (drummer), Tim Skold (bassist, programmer), Marilyn Manson, John 5 (lead guitarist) and Madonna Wayne Gacy (keyboardist, programmer -- also known as Pogo). John 5 used to be a guitarist for K.D. Lang. Skold used to be part of KMFDM. As for the metal teeth... go to Manson's site and hunt out the TGAOG e-card. You'll see a really nice video of it in action, and I think it might change your thoughts on the makeup and photos.
25. Usually when I'm online, I'm doing a bunch of other things. I spend a LOT of my time working on drawings and various computer illustrations and so on... It's all right at my desk along with the computer, so I can easily answer IMs and browse if I need a break. Same if I'm playing a game or reading or playing with my ferret... the computer is always right there if I need to check something or answer someone. I tend to leave this thing on a lot more than I am here... I'm sure all the people that IM me and get no response can back me up on that one. I pretty much just come on at random days, unless there is seriously nothing to do and there are some good people to talk to. I'd say the longest straight, without a break, was about 8 hours. It was a really crappy night out and my parents were gone. I wound up playing Aliens Vs. Predator almost the entire time and just got lost in it. I didn't even realize the time until the sun came up and birds were chirping. Happens to everyone somewhere along the line I guess. And yeah, I write too much.
