Being apparently the biggest Manson fan here, I even don't understand the choice of This Is the New ****. It's not a bad song, but it's one of the weaker on Golden Age of the Grotesque and definately does not fit the movie from what I know of it. There are tracks on that disc which would have been far more fitting. But whatever.

Perfect Dark Zero was originally being worked on for Gamecube. When Rare jumped ship, they showed some renders of Joanna from Perfect Dark... she's been changed to a more anime-ish style based on those, if they're even going with that anymore. Anyway, I don't think anyone expected it to be there. I've heard some people have seen it, but I've not heard good impressions so far. Apparently it's quite a bit different from the last one, assuming what I'm hearing is true. That's another story. The main point is that that game won't be done anytime soon. They didn't even show it, and out of the three games they showed only ONE is coming out this year. I won't expect it for quite a long time.

This always comes up randomly for some reason. The fact is, despite Nintendo being in 3rd in the US and 2nd worldwide for next-gen system sales... they are raking in profit in every area they work in. Something that definately cannot be said of Microsoft, and until recently... not of Sony either. They were both taking a loss for systems sold. In the case of MS, they are losing money in basically every aspect of Xbox's sales. Plus, you have to take into account the many, many quotes from Nintendo saying 1.) this will never happen and 2.) if they don't make systems, they'll completely leave the business (meaning, they won't do 3rd party). So yes, your friends are at the least, very uninformed and are believing stupid rumors that seem to start on forums every other month. Nintendo has millions and millions just sitting there, and it just gets added to. They're not going out of business anytime soon.

Homer: "Why did you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies?? For fun!? Well I didn't hear anyone laughing, did you?!?" I think the stuff mentioned so far is awful, but it's all personal opinion heh. My two favorite comedy movies are Caddyshack and Office Space personally.

I don't see the big deal, especially considering the fact that the wallpaper you took the image from is obviously made up of images they took from somewhere else. Still, if you're that worried about it you should probably just email them and see the response you get. If you get none, I'd just use it and leave the information in about where you got it from and link back to them.

People are not understanding that this football game has been a decades old tradition there. It has never previously been a problem. The girls knew there would be hazing, and they admit that. The problem is that very few of you seem to realize that there are different extents of hazing. Covering them in old food and such is something that happens at many schools (generally colleges)... beating the hell out of them isn't. There is a huge difference between both of those, and they are both hazing. The fact remains that this escalated beyond the Juniors control. That anyone here could think that they would have expected it, especially when this has never gotten remotely this bad in the past, is total BS. I'm wondering how many people here know anything about this other than what they've pieced together from other people. I have not heard one news report that said those Juniors knew that money was going to beer. I've not seen one video that even SHOWS the Juniors drinking it. Every single video shows the Senior boys and girls as the ones getting wasted and doing keg hand stands and everything else. I really don't understand how that's just expected by anyone here. I'm going to say it for the third time now, but it never did before. It should just be expected anyway? Every year previous, based on talking to people I personally know that have gone to that school (seriously, do ANY of you know anyone that ever went to there? It's not that far from my house.), it never got remotely into that. It was like an initiation sort of thing, and they looked out for eachother after it for the rest of the year. I'd agree that it was probably getting worse and worse every year... but this one went way beyond what anyone I know described to me. Okay, so they paid. That means they deserve to get beaten? They deserve to get knocked over and stomped when they try to run away? They have no right to stand up against it? Sure, now is a bit too late... but at least now people realize it's a problem. I'm not saying that them even getting involved in this wasn't stupid. It's just that a lot of you seem to think that they almost knew this was going to happen. Afterall, why else would they deserve it? -------- I really hope that people that think this is somehow what they deserve get into a stupid situation like this, because unless you're a shut in... something bad like this will most likely happen to you somewhere in your life (perhaps not this badly, but still). And I hope when that happens, you don't have the power to get past dozens of people forcing you to do otherwise. Then I can sit back, point out it was all your fault and that you deserved it... and make stupid, uninformed posts about how goddamn stupid you are. Just like some of you here now. It's quite enjoyable I think. That everyone's better than someone else on the internet or so it seems. Everyone has better judgement than someone else. That really makes me wonder why I have to read some of the moronic things I see on OB and other boards if everyone knows what's best all the time and every time. Obviously, most people here know what's better for this country and the human race in general... because look how much better things are thanks to you complaining and judging others on a mostly anonymous message board. Congratulations. And I realize the irony behind me complaining about complaining, but my point stands. This place is ridiculous sometimes.

It doesn't matter really how much trans fat is in JUST Oreos. The fact remains that a really large amount of foods use it. So you're not sitting here eating 1,000 cookies... you're eating a bunch of other things that use varying degrees of trans fat. It adds up, just like anything else. And while self control is the main importance in this, the fact remains that obviously very, very few even know of the possible problems this can cause... which is the problem in my opinion. Seriously, how many people even know what trans fat even is? I'm doubting it's remotely the majority.

I don't watch this stuff... but I left the TV on and this horrible "news" program known as the Pulse came on. They talked about this and I'm sorry, but Clay looks like a goon. He is too much of a dork. I love dorks, and I am one... but this guy is a bit past the line. I think Ruben was the best of the three personally. I'd really like to see him go through to the end. It's kind of nice that none of the final three really are there because of looks or anything (I don't think any of them are really that amazing looking in any respect lol), it mostly seems based on the voices... something I didn't really expect from the show much. I could be so off though. I am basing this on a 10 minute news blurb :D. Maybe I should just listen to Semjaza the Second and be quiet....

I think pretty much any word makes almost no sense if you keep saying it for a while. Mail. Mail. Mail. It's weird. I can't think of a word that still sounds right if you keep saying it and thinking about it. And peopel say it "kehn" around here... and actually anywhere I've ever been in my life.

Thanks Clowmet... this one is much, much better heh.

The video looks AWFUL. The sprite in it looks like cel shaded almost, and is nothing like the sprite in these shots. I'm hoping the shots are newer, because the video killed off any interest I had. The video seems like it's a remake of Metroid for sure though.

I don't really truly hate anyone as it is. I'm not one to generalize by race if I can help it (I'm not perfect, so I'm not going to say never)... because you have to realize that there are good and bad people in every group. So really, not I don't think I'd generalize to that extent in any situation... The world would at least be more interesting with mutants around.

Game seems like an overall waste of money to me. I applied for the beta program, so I'll play if I make it into that... but I'm definately not willing to pay monthly for the game at all.

I really, really do not like Scooby Doo... I never liked the original show or Scooby Doo Movies (with the movie guests, I think that's the name) or Scrappy Doo or any of the remakes. I kind of liked A Pup Named Scooby Doo though... and the newer animated movies aren't all that bad. I guess that over my lifetime I've just seen way, way too many episodes and it feels like they are all exactly the same in concept. The main problem is that Cartoon Network used to play Scooby Doo for what seemed like 15 times a day. Whenever I hoped to see something else, it was always Scooby Doo... So I'm not very fond of it heh.
Originally posted by Break Does there even need to be a love interest in an FF game; homosexual or otherwise?
Thank you. This was going to be my whole point. I personally do call the love stories in these games rather useless, at least to the extent that they have in FF8 and FFX. It was a bit more subdued in 6 and 7. Do you guys like RPGs for their gameplay or do you play them for their soap opera styled stories? I have no problem with love in RPGs. Afterall, a story needs to be told... However, I don't think FF ever deals with it well. I don't know how many of you have been in love or what not... but the love scenes in FF games are mostly awkward. Sure, love itself can be at first too... but not to the extent in these games. Things happen for very little reason, and they are often forced to extremes of happy or sad for no good reason. The dialogue is almost embarassing to sit through at times. Who actually says some of these things? And on top of that, the barely average acting in FFX between Tidus and Yuna made it even less believable. I'm tired of the melodrama between guys and girls in these games... I don't see why FF needs to address homosexuality in addition to it, which you know would lead to even more drama in the game. The love between the two guys or two girls, and the obvious problems other characters would have with it just because it is what it is... which would most likely be even bigger than them not liking a straight couple. Videogames are not social commentary, and I just know that if FF ever got into that stuff... they'd try to make some profound moral statement and fall on their faces, just like in the past. Perhaps this would work for another series... but FF is not one of them. On top of that, a LOT of people still have a problem with gay people (guys especially). Sticking in a homosexual romance would alienate a huge number of the people that play these games in the first place (which is proven to be mostly guys). I really doubt that's something Square wants to do. As for gays being less than desirable people on TV... Well, just remember it's TV. They show what they want you to think - news, sitcoms, documentaries (at times) and otherwise. It's not as if most straight people aren't less than desirable.

I've seen the Zelda games... I was actually surprised because they aren't what I expected. The Four Swords game sounds really cool, and what I saw of it looked really intense. The Tetra Tracker game sounds rather odd though... FF:CC looks really, really good in motion. Some of the last batches of screenshots were disappointing, but it has some great animation, effects and music. You really need to see the boat they ride on going through the water with a really nice reflection. The Twin Snakes video is also quite nice. Basically looks like MGS in the MGS2 engine with some improvments. The voices seem to be totally redone, but they used the same actors (other than Ninja, who sounds a LOT different). Should be a good game I hope. I really liked the first MGS, and I'm also hoping MGS3 turns out too. And lastly RE4... You need to see one of those videos. It seems like a real change of pace from the last few. For one, it actually looks scary, unlike the last few. It seems to rely a lot more on lighting and shadows... and a lot of really weird imagery. I get a feeling it's taking some cues from Silent Hill, which has been kicking it's butt in the horror game department lately. Leon seems to be able to switch between two planes... the normal world and another (which makes the screen a shade of blue). The last trailer makes it seem like he got possessed which might explain that. In the blue areas there seem to be ghosts and all sorts of other things. Graphically, it's amazing. I'd say almost on par with the remakes -- except it's all 3D and in real time. There's a scene where Leon passes a mirror and it's all reflected perfectly... no trick where it's a lower resolution or a picture like in Metroid Prime. Definately the best graphics on the GC, beating out RS3.

You guys do realize that doctors and scientists are starting to realize that trans fat is probably the worst thing in people's diets? He's going after Nabisco in particular because Oreos use quite a bit of that stuff for the creme and the actual cookie itself. I certainly don't think that he'll get any ban on Oreos anywhere (and he's mostly asking that they don't get given out to kids). His father or something died from a heart attack or something, which he feels was thanks to a diet based on trans fat foods such as margarine, so that's where his interest stems from. I don't really think anything will come of this, other than an increased awareness that trans fat is not a good substitute for anything and is more harmful than beneficial. I really think that's his whole point, and unless he did something stupid like this I bet no one would have noticed... I think he knows that too considering he's not just some run of the mill lawyer.

You're both weird. That's all I have to say :p

Kevin Smith is a great writer... Personally, I think he is an awful director. He rarely switches camera angles, or chooses poor ones... so basically you have a conversation between three or more people where the camera never moves (or maybe just between the two exact same angles) for minutes at a time. Normally that's somewhat up to the cinematographer... but not in Smith's movies. Anyway, the writing is good overall though. Dogma is okay, but I don't think it's as good as many people think. It's written like some fanfic by an angsty teenager who doesn't like his religion. Some of the stuff makes it seem like Smith is trying to make some deep, profound statement... but really it's just ridiculous if you know what the hell he is trying to make fun of. I think Kevin Smith should stick to writing comics (he recently did a Daredevil one) and other things involving human relationships instead. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is only good if you've seen the others I'd say. There's too many references back to them... So personally I like Mallrats and Clerks the best. Have you seen the Clerks animated series? I got it on DVD since they stopped showing it after the second episode on TV (the DVD has all 6 that were made). It's an acquired taste, but I love it. Definately check it out if you haven't.

I read about and saw some shots of the Battle game a few weeks ago. It actually looks like a lot of fun... almost like a 2D deathmatch game. Uses a lot of Mode 7, but still looks quite nice. I personally can't get excited over portable pinball games though.

Now you don't have to click the link :p. The character art looks like the stuff from the original Metroid. I'm wondering if this takes place even before that one. The name seems to imply that... I've been reading about the conference... and really it's a let down. Not because they didn't show games that were rumored (which stinks), but mostly because what they did show was mostly so eh. I'm sorry, but I can't be interested in Pokemon Channel. Starfox 2 looks like an N64 game, but it could be fun (thankfully it's apparently NOT Armada, so that could make up for it). It looks far better in motion at least. Geist looks decent, but hardly that impressive (and it's being done by N-Space, who previously did the horrible Danger Girl and Mary-Kate and Ashley games). The most exciting of those was that Pacman game, which even isn't that special other than its neat GBA to GC connection ideas. Mario Kart: Double Dash of course looks great. Pikmin 2 should be fun. Twin Snakes should be awesome... And then there was some of Metroid Prime 2 shown as well, but I've not gotten to see it yet. I expect there to me more once the show begins, but traditionally Nintendo doesn't announce much more after their conference. There's a possibilty of Silicon Knight's new game, more from Factor 5 in Pilotwings (which I hear won't be shown anyway), Game Zero, Mario 128 and so on... but I'm not expecting any of it. Mario 128 is supposed to hit Japan THIS year too, and it wasn't even shown. I don't get that. At least there are some 3rd party games to pick up some of the slack. RE4's new movies look amazing... Remake and Zero have almost nothing on it, and this game is fully realtime 3D. On the other hand, some of the GBA stuff looks great. Although I'm not too into the ideas for the new Zelda game. They'll have something to worry about next year when the PSP comes out though. Twin Snakes pics at http://www.gamers.com/game/1364029/media Can't link their pics, don't work... so check the link. Looks a step up from MGS2, but not as nice as MGS3. RE4 movies: http://cubemovies.ign.com/cube/video/noaconf_051303_re4x2.mov http://cubemovies.ign.com/cube/video/noaconf_051303_re4x1.mov And lastly... Whoever wrote that thing about Castlevania that I posted was wrong. Lament of Innocence is actually the subtitle of the PS2 version. Apparently another GBA game is on the way though.

I get the impression that this thing is going to be massive and will almost be too high end and expensive to be competing directly with Nintendo's devices which are more economic in a sense. If you just compare the resolution sizes, the PSP screen size is like 3 times that of the GBA. About the size of the PSone LCD screen... Makes me scared about battery life lol. And really... I like 2D gaming on the road, I'm really afraid that this thing is going to get tons and tons of PSX ports and poor 3D games, but who knows. I get the impression that it would be rather expensive to develop for as well. I can't see companies wanting to make impressive 3D games for a handheld that would retail for like $30... On the other hand, it sounds very impressive considering the weaker technology the GBA uses. I'm sure it would be getting a good deal of support just because Sony is doing it too. I guess we'll have to see.
