I think most of the character designs in VII are rather generic, and so the clothes don't do much for me either. I think Cloud looks incredibly stupid in what he's wearing... Everyone else is rather eh, with the possible exceptions of Vincent, Aeris, Yuffie and Sephiroth (and some of those more than others). As for best dressed... I guess Gogo. You don't know what sex it is, or anything. I would think no one in their right minds would wear all that stuff, but it still looks pretty funny and so I enjoy it. Perhaps it's not the most fashionable, but whatever. I also think that Relm was pretty good about that stuff... Same for Rosa, Rydia and Celes. Worst... I don't know. Kuja?

Pikelet showed me this yesterday. I love it mostly because it was so unexpected. I was going to set it as my background, but then I forgot. I'll do that now heh. Also, thanks Josh. Anything with Bosko automatically rocks. I apprecate it heh. Anyway, thanks again. I'll try to keep being a good mom I guess... lol.

Question (for lack of a better subject title)
Semjaza replied to GinnyLyn's topic in General Discussion
This question is really, really vague lol. I'm not sure where to go with it, but I'll try. I don't know. I don't really think that anyone can be at an extreme side of either spectrum. In a sense, if you compromise yourself and your integrity all the time... you have no reason to even be living, in my opinion. Not in the sense that you should just go commit suicide, but in the sense that you're a robot. You exist for the needs and wants of others. I personally wouldn't want to be in that situation, and I'm sure there are people that are (although I refuse to think every person that's depressed is like this, despite how bad they want to make it out to be - we're talking complete lack of anything that makes you individual. I don't think that's really something that's easily possible). I'd like to think I mostly do what I want to do, and people will either just accept it or not accept it. Of course, this is not always the case. You can't please everyone, and at times you really do need to compromise many things to make even the simplest of things work. I guess it just depends on the outcome. If I think it would benefit myself and others to compromise, then I will. If the compromise directly hurts my integrity or credibilty, then no... I wouldn't do it. It all just depends. Really, I wonder if I even care about acceptance anymore. My good, true friends know me for who I am and it hasn't hurt anything between us. So what am I gaining from compromise? "Friends" and so on that are with me for the ride? The fact that they are somehow getting a benefit and really, nothing more? I don't want to deal with that crap anymore. I think that if I don't like you, it's obvious. I'm not trying to keep anything from anyone here, and I feel I am a rather honest (and sometimes confrontational) person. At the same time, I try not to be a total dick about it. I guess my point is, acceptance isn't everything. I'd rather live knowing that I did what was true to myself, than doing something that would appease most everyone else. But really, that's just not 100% possible for me, or probably for anyone. The way sociology and such are, it wouldn't even work heh. I know I'm not like this, even if I like to be. Although I am definately becoming more like that every week... I often compromise and do things I don't want to do. Keep doing things I don't really want to because of a fear that someone will get on my case otherwise... and so on. But whatever. I don't know where I'm going with this, so I'll shut up heh. -
I'm surprised they put it up... Especially considering Sony has gone after the people that originally ripped it and posted it on sites. It's from some Sony E3 DVD apparently, and wasn't supposed to be seen as of yet. Oh well.

Gah. They are hosting the AVI now too. I guess they got it from someone. At one time, I was one of like a few people that actually had it heh. I got it directly from Godshand The funny thing is that Godshand is Don Allen... if anyone remembers who he is heh. Nintendo Nation was his site.

There's a high resolution Quicktime file of this game on www.gamers.com now. It's about 2 minutes in length, and it looks amazingly good. It's all realtime too... which is rather surprising at times (although it was more impressive when we had a really bad video this morning, as it made everything look like the movie lol). Endor looks great. Explosions are vastly improved, and so is the lighting. Even the co-op of Rogue Leader is improved graphically, and it's still rendering it twice at 60 FPS. Very impressive. I hope the rumors of Factor 5 doing the next GC Pilotwings pan out... that would be amazing.

Anders Colsefni (or something like that, he has a weird name) was the original vocalist for Slipknot on MFKR, so I assume that's the answer you wanted... He is part of a band called Painface last I heard. I never bothered to check them out, but they might be up your alley.
-
I think anyone that thinks 90% of American music genuinely sucks or anyone that thinks Slipknot is the best anything really needs to look into things around here a little deeper. You're all missing out... and instead we get a bunch of cheap shots over crap, where neither side truly understands the other. Fun, fun, fun. Here's hoping this gets closed soon... especially considering there is a somewhat civil thread on it 5 lines down.

I'd have a much higher opinion of them if their single's appeal wasn't completely obliterated by the horrible rap sections. Thankfully, none of their other songs suffer from it. Seems like something they had to stick in there because the label thought it would be "cool"... bleh. Anyway, the music is surprisingly solid. The vocals are nice (although they sound way too much like Lacuna Coil), and that's probably are the only thing really making it remotely special in my opinion. Anyway, I still think they are a rather average band in the scheme of things. I'd rather listen to groups like Curve or 12 Rounds that seem to be going for the same idea. The big difference being that they've been doing it for years, and that I feel are just much more talented.
-
It was a joke. I didn't mean your time here in a literal sense. Nevermind.
-
TN doesn't like most American music in general. Welcome to OB :p Why it's pointed out on a very constant basis, I have no idea. That's another story for another thread I guess. Like what you want, listen to what you feel like. I don't see a reason to convince people to like a band or give it a chance when it's clear they never will. Just another person on the internet that you'll never meet. Hardly worth getting into anything over.

None of the stuff that happened was something I think anyone would see coming. There is no history of that there, even just stuffing fish guts in their faces and wiping human feces on them. Many, many schools and clubs have some sort of hazing... and it can be extremely lax (which it is most of the time), or extremely bad (as in this case). Did you just watch the news once and come to these conclusions or what?

If you follow the stories and legends and parts of the Apocrypha, then yes... Humans were shown magic by angels, when they shouldn't have been. It was a "secret" of Heaven, just like many other things. However, those books are mostly forgotten and left out for a reason and I wouldn't hold anyone to them. I'm not sure what their "magic" entailed, but it is mentioned. Other than that, all the magic the Bible mentions that I know of is not used for good purposes (I'm probably wrong, but who knows). For example, there are magicians that create snakes to go against Moses's snake created from his staff. Of course, Moses's snake won out. Regardless most magic involves some higher being in some fashion, or at least some aspect of it. You're basically 'praying' to something, whether it be some god or otherwise. I don't really think it's something any Christian (or most any religion of that sort) would want to be involved in for various reasons. Every culture has had magic in it. I personally don't really believe in it. I've read up on elementals, familiars, curses, charms and everything else... and it doesn't float with me. If other people want to believe it, that's their choice and it's fine with me. I'll respect it at the least heh.

I was repsonding to the person above me. I was joking, but whatever. Anyway, it was treated as a fundraiser by the Seniors, when it obviously wasn't. I don't think the Juniors knew any of it was going to beer (and if they did, certainly not the other stuff that happened), and nothing on the news has even given that impression. Besides, there were two kegs and that's it. It doesn't take that much money to buy those. People are failing to understand that this powderpuff football game has been a tradition there for decades. As far as I know this is the first time it ever got this out of control. The hazing was expected, but it has never been like that either. It was always stupid piddly crap, not ripping out piercings, kicking people and stomping legs until they break. So no, I think the opinion that they got what they deserved is total crap. Remind me to point and laugh whenever anyone here gets into a stupid situation that was taken beyond their control.
-
I really don't know if I'm interested in this game anymore. No one seems to think it's bad, and you obviously liked it... but I don't know. It just doesn't seem worth buying once it comes out here. How long did it take you to complete it?

Gaming Oh. Almighty. Crap. SMA4 is YOshi's story.

Well that's not good. It doesn't say Mario Advance in the title though... So I'm wondering if this is something they just have in the system for who knows what reason. Afterall, a level in Yoshi's Story was shown off as a tech demo when the GBA first was revealed. It definately wouldn't be a first on the site. If it's true, I hope people are smart enough to skip it. The game looked nice, but it was so pointless. -
If you touch the end flagpole with a 1,3, or 6 in the ones column (example 091, 243, or 256) you will get fireworks equal to that number (1,3, or 6) and 500 points for each. Got it from Gamefaqs.

People honestly think that everyday life is like Jackass?

This isn't an answer... but I'd like to know where that thread went. I was looking for it as well when I saw your thread, and it's completely gone. It was always at the top, so I know it was somehow deleted. So I'd appreciate someone telling me why it was completely removed.

I didn't know this was a rating thread lol. Numbered ratings are evil!! Thanks for the comments though :D

This has been on our local news for the past week. Dateline seemed to show more of the video than our news channels have been. Northbrook isn't that far from my house actually. I've seen worse hazing (not in person), but generally by people out of highschool... so it's rather surprising. I was rather annoyed by the general attitude that Northbrook is an "affluent" community and this would never be expected. Someone needs to wake parents and officials up to the fact that damn crap happens everywhere. Anyway, this is a tradition there. The hazing was always light from what I know, but obviously it got very out of control. I was bothered mostly by the fact that anyone that tried to help wound up getting hit too. There was a pretty bad hazing incident at a Catholic grade school 2 blocks from my house a couple years ago too. Nothing new sadly.

Well, my site is up... I haven't had time to work on it recently, but there should be substantial updates in the coming weeks. Anyway, the link is http://www.slownerveaction.org Any of these banners will do. I did several colors so they would fit with most any site. I've not done a grey one for some reason though. I'd prefer that anyone that takes these host it on their own server. I'm not doing retail ever again if I can help it... I don't want to work in food either. So... I've got two possibilities lined up. The first is taking care of old people at this one agency. I spend like 8 hours helping them out, keeping them company, keeping track of medicine and so on. Possibly driving them around too. I don't think that would be so bad... Plus I'd get about $100 a day. The other job would be at the zoo. Keeping track of animal behavior and reporting problems, feeding animals, grooming the domesticated ones and so on. That pays $8.50 an hour, plus free zoo stuff. So I'd be happy with either of those. The zoo one doesn't pay as much, but I think it would be a great job. I love animals, and I'd like to work with them in some way.

AP Tests? *High School Students Only, Please*
Semjaza replied to Queen Asuka's topic in General Discussion
About the college credits... A good deal of schools take them towards entry level classes and that's about it (if even that). If you're going to a normal university/college and get a 4 or 5 on the AP tests, you're bound to get some sort of credit for it. 3 or less means jack **** to be honest, and that's what most people get. -
There are plans for an official OB art contest (like Otaku Idol, in the event thing). So if this doesn't get fully off the ground, there will be something coming up if you all can remain patient heh.
