1. It's amazing that this is their first LP since like 1999. I didn't even realize it until I was looking through my CDs. It doesn't feel like that long... And it's not as if the Days of the Phoenix's 3 songs or 336's two really helped much heh. If you don't like his voice in those, I doubt you'll like it in general. Davey manages to get some nice octaves out of it though, which isn't really evident in the songs that were streamed. Edit- I really need to get in gear and join the Despair Faction already.
2. Thank you, you responded exactly in the way I was hoping. Sorted out a few things for myself. I just like to get a clear understanding of people's opinions on music. I do realize that you've never really said anything bad about smaller/indie bands, but I guess that's all I had to work with so I went with it heh. It's too bad very few threads here on bands that fit that category are spoken of here for long, if at all. In the end, I guess we both feel the same way and just chose different types of music to stick with. That's the impression I have now, and it wasn't quite the one I was getting before. This thread is already way off Alien Ant Farm, and I'm sure would be at the bottom of the page by now otherwise heh.
3. This is a good question heh. I don't listen to the radio much at all. I don't think anyone that wants to see what there is truly offered in ANY country can rely on the radio or even compare it to what there really is out there. There is no comparison. In fact, the bands that are posted here that I feel are rather good myself get little, if any, real radio play... other than a month or so if they are popular for whatever reason. I'd assume Japan is the same way as well... as any other country. Obviously, I don't like Alien Ant Farm. I don't like Linkin Park. I don't like 90% of what is selling like crazy right now. That doesn't mean American music on a whole is like this, it really isn't. You just have to be willing to look. When I said that stuff about you willing to dig through Japan's music scene, I think you took that a bit wrong. I just meant why would you be willing to go through a completely different country's music scene and learn so much about it (because you obviously do know quite a bit about it), but not be willing to do that for music that is here? That's what I don't understand. If you've already done that, then cool. I've just not read anything you've said to make me think that as of yet. It just seems like you've dismissed what's here in general because of what's popular. I was basing what I said on quite a few other threads. Not simply this one. So what you said about AAF specificly isn't what I was wondering about. I've seen other threads where you certainly do talk down about such bands, using "American" in almost a derogatory sense. I know for a fact I'm not the only one to notice it, from speaking to others here. That's just my observations. I'm not claiming it's true, but that's the impression I get at times. Perhaps I'm reading your posts completely different than you mean them. I don't know, as I obviously don't know you personally whatsoever. The question I was wanting an answer to... is mostly why you seem to think there is little good here at this present time? Taking into account things you and I have both said inside and outside of this thread on OB. Anyway, what I posted this time and what I posted before certainly wasn't an attack, so I hope you didn't take it that way. It's just me being curious and trying to understand your viewpoint, and if it's coming off as being a jerk, I apologize.
4. You can get your password emailed to you as far as I know... so you might want to see what that does heh. I never said you were fighting it, but considering you don't want to be grounded again I don't see why it matters if you were or weren't. Considering you got caught once, I doubt your parents are going to start watching what you do even less than before. I'm not saying you shouldn't experiment. I don't do this stuff now, but I used to. I'm sure many other people older than you have given you these stupid lectures about this crap, and you'd rather punch them in the face than listen to them. At least I did... All I know, is that you're probably better off just knowing your limits and watching yourself. I know people at your age tend to test their limits and get far past what they should have. You probably won't realize that until you break that limit though, as is the case with most people. Just don't overdo things. That's all.
5. Well... Maybe this will get some more replies unlike the other thread heh. Unlike Piro, I downloaded the leaked copy over a month ago and listened to it all a few times. I plan on getting the limited edition next time I get a chance to go to the store. It comes with a 60 page hardcover book, so maybe some of the good art was saved for it? lol Anyway, we share many of the same opinions really. Dancing Through Sunday, Death of Seasons and The Leaving Song are my favorite tracks of it. At the same time they add to my disappointment, because I expected most of the album to consist of songs that were at least this strong... and it simply doesn't. Overall the whole CD really lacks the punch of previous albums. I don't mind mellow songs at all; some of my favorite AFI songs are slow and subdued... But at the same time they have feeling and emotion, something a lot of this CD simply lacks. There are points when you think it's going to pick up, kick you in the *** and start rocking like you expected... but it just never keeps this up. The lack of emotion is so readily apparent that I have to mention it again... It just doesn't feel like Davey really cares about some of these things he is singing about, and I've never really gotten that impression from any other release of theirs. It's hardly a bad CD. I'd say it's above average at the least... It was just very disappointing in my opinion. It's a change, and although that necessarily isn't a bad thing, in this case it just didn't work for me. Despite all that, I still want to buy it and I'm sure I'll be listening to it quite often.
6. Well I don't know what's happened... With me I came back one day and had the same thing in my sig as you. I'd go to my profile and I'd type the URL for the image in. I think it's fine, and when I look in my sig it says image not found just like yours. It was driving me nuts until I figured that out, because I swear I was doing everything right. Those were the only reasons I could pinpoint in my case for it not working heh. No idea otherwise lol
7. Why in the world have you made another name first of all? Having a couple accounts won't get you on anyone's good side here. You should be grounded honestly. I know other people say otherwise, but weed is a hell of a lot more bad for your health than cigarettes can be. Smoking one joint is equal to smoking several cigarettes at once. Of course, you can do the whole bong thing... but by that time I think it's safe to say you're a moron. What do I know though? I don't drink. I don't do drugs. I don't smoke. I'm of legal age to do some of these things, and I still don't. I've seen what this crap does to people firsthand (my dad did coke among other things, he died from something unrelated I suppose you could say), and I don't want to be stupid enough to get into all that. I like to have control over my situation and decisions, even if my choice winds up blowing up in my face. Partying is cool and all, but you're 13 years old. Have fun, but don't be stupid... save that stuff for when you're old enough to be able to deal with it on a somewhat normal plane. You shouldn't be acting like you're 22 at this age, at least in my opinion. Besides, there are still some good parties around that have a minimal amount of that stuff involved heh. Go play videogames or go to some concert or hang out with friends or go on dates... party if you want to. Just don't become a freaking burnout.
8. It only does that to me for a couple reasons... 1.) I didn't type the location correctly. 2.) The image simply isn't on the server for whatever reason. If, for whatever reason, the server stopped letting you direct link images or its down... you should just get a red X. So I'd guess it's not that. I figure you already know all this considering you have sites and such... But those are the only things I can think of that have caused it for me personally.
9. Why don't you like the opera scene? I thought it was done quite well, and it seems to be a favorite of a lot of people who like the game. Whatever you do, don't play the PSX version... It's a pain in the butt loading wise, and I feel it detracts from the enjoyment of it. Anywayyy... Kefka had reasons. Most of it was just greed and being powerhungry... But he did have reasons lol. Offtopic warning!!!--- Yeah... citrus :D It's a theme you can design your room in... Features oranges and limes and so on. It's in Animal Crossing. I saw you mention that in your sig :)
10. This is just getting confusing haha. I think Sephiroth is a good (or whatever the word should be) villian. I certinaly cannot think of any other bad guys in FF games that compare to him or Kefka. They either weren't important, or they were just... I don't know. Look at Kuja. He's not that great of a character heh. I preferred the Queen to him honestly lol.
11. I don't think most people stopped playing FF6 because it was boring or because Kefka was less involving. I hardly feel FF7 was that good because of Sephiroth early on, it was good for other reasons. So comparing that doesn't work for me. Sephiroth didn't truly matter in the game really that much earlier than Kefka did. Personally, I only finished FF7 because I didn't want a half beaten game laying around. The reason I get from most people as to why they never finished FF6 on the PSX was because it doesn't look as good. This is the number one reason, and while it doesn't fit the description of you guys, it sure does for a good deal of people I know who bought Chronicles just because it was an FF game. It wasn't what they expected. I'm sure thanks to yet another FMV advertising campaign on Square's part. I personally stopped playing the PSX version an hour in because I couldn't stand the load times... I've since played it on the SNES because I have the option. I'm sure I'm not the only one who gave up on it for that reason. I have no problem with you guys liking Sephiroth better. I'm providing my reasons, not attacks lol. Anyway, I see you got a GC heh. Send me any citrus stuff you get :p
12. Some people are confused... The original limit was 8 lines. Which is plenty long enough for most things. I agree about raising the limit to 10 or so myself. This isn't about people with rather long buddy lists. This is about people who have seriously around 30 lines in their signatures. I think that's just too much, and I really don't think I should have to disable everyone's signature because a few people are overzealous.
13. I guess Sephiroth's reasoning just doesn't float well with me. It just didn't seem compelling enough, or reason enough for me to accept him going completely off the deepend. That's me though, and I can't say that Kefka really had a better excuse. He was mostly just underappreciated and cast aside for various things. However, by the time Kefka replaces the Empire as the true villian in the game... He has most of the espers' powers, plus whatever else he got from throwing the world out of Balance and the things that followed. He was hardly any weaker in my opinon at that time. So to me, in that sense they are somewhat equal. The main difference is that Sephiroth could do most of his stuff from the start and Kefka had to work to get it... I don't think that's a reason for him to be looked at as something lesser heh. Oh well. This is fun thread so far haha.
14. Blood was Manga's best selling title for god knows how long. It broke anime sales records lol. It's hardly rare or unknown.
15. In terms of Zelda games, I am preferring Aonuma because he is the one responsible for most of the big changes. Miyamoto is very integral I'd say, mostly because he knows what works and doesn't with all his experience after all these years. Aonuma was the big reason Majora is how it is (and it's wonderful, despite the resetting time annoyances) and he is the one responsible for this cel shading change. I'm glad he's around. After playing what I've played (I finally got to play all three demos of the game on a working controller... yay), it has a good shot at being the best Zelda so far. Seeing the game in video and pictures is one thing. I already liked the style. Playing it is like a totally different experience. It's so cartoony, but so full of life... moreso than any other realistic game I can think of. The animation is simply incredible... Seeing those moblin-type-guys run around as you're trying to sneak by is a good example. They have this goofy run animation, and things on them just flow so smoothly. They carry these weapons with a little orange fabric (or something?) on them that are animated better than some entire enemies in some games. The gameplay itself was the standard fair... but it seemed like you were thrown into all of it a lot faster than in OoT, so I was happy. I'm really looking forward to it, and it is shaping up to be my favorite possibly... But you never know. As of right know, Majora owns that title.
16. I prefer the design of Kefka himself if you really want to compare the looks. The walking sprites might not convey it, and I don't feel the FMV of anyone in FF6 on PSX was good... but the original Amano art of Kefka simply is gorgeous. Compared to some gothy looking guy with a big sword, I'll take Kefka. There are a lot of fans that prefer FF6 as well as Kefka, girls included. The fact of the matter is that almost everyone started on FF7 and loved it for one reason or another, and then either only played two hours of FF6 or never really gave it a fair chance due to its differences from FF7. That doesn't cover everyone of course, but I'm finding that it's the case in general. And personally I don't see how some guy going nuts over stuff that the game doesn't even explain well (you have to admit that most people just fill in blanks for this guy) compares to the intelligence and cruelty of Kefka (who by the way, pretty much goes just as insane himself). He had very little to get revenge or vengeance over, he just wanted everything. In the end, Sephiroth was completely stopped. A couple things were left to be destroyed (and I guess by the ending this could be argued, but obviously things survived for the reasons mentioned), meanwhile nothing could ever fix what Kefka had done. The people had to bring themsevles to get past it. Continents don't suddenly move back to their original states in a few hundred years. And really...who is to say Kefka wouldn't have done far more if he wasn't stopped? Okay, so Seph wanted to kill everyone. Wouldn't matter much when he was dead too. Kefka was at least smart about it, and if you see what he can do later in the game I'd have to say destroying the entire population wasn't something that he just couldn't do.
17. And people didn't fear for their lives when the entire planet's surface was rearranged and pretty much destroyed? Meanwhile thieves and bandits wound up ruling the land, and monsters terrorized people even more than usual. The fact is... Sephiroth tried to do these things. He never actually did, and to me that's the key. Kefka, while he never destroyed the whole world, had very simliar plans and actually completed a good portion of them. Kefka himself practically destroyed a few espers as well, and I'd like to think they are a bit stronger than a giant snake your characters can kill anyway. Kefka also overthrew the whole Empire as well, so there's a counter for that argument as well.

Ah. Well I definately wasn't knocking you, so don't take that the wrong way. Getting the light/glare things on them right is a pain, and I know that it'd take me forever to figure out how to do that myself heh. Which tutorial did you use? Some seem a lot better than others, and these turned out a lot nicer than most I've seen.

All of theotaku came back up a few days ago. So you might want to check that out. The pills turned out really well... Although they remind me too much of those OS X gel button tutorials all over the place, especially since both of the pills have the same light source despite one being over the other. Still, one of my favorite ones you've done so far.
20. I wouldn't even want it. Right now all I want is enough to pay off my student loans and the little bit I owe on credit cards. After that I'd be happy. I have no interest in being rich.
21. The last battle with Sephiroth is nothing but you being forced to do some limit break til he dies (or something like that), it's hardly anything amazing. Even including all the fights before the final one, I didn't lose a single character... and I was in level 75 or something. I'm sure most of you were in 99 or so, judging from other topics heh. But between all those random guys before Kefka, and then Kefka himself... That was much harder altogether. There is no way Kefka himself didn't get a few great attacks in on you before your Terra could cast a few Ultimas. He has that "God's Hand" (or whatever) attack that brings everyone down to 1 HP. It's not that simple. Anyway, Seymour was alright... although a bit of a hack (for lack of a better word). I don't think he's even up there as a villian though.
22. I read about this early yesterday. The guy is a child, and it's amazing that any of these people get elected in the first place.

Dream Band

Well, hopefully people realize it's a line from the Simpsons, and I didn't just spell irony wrong... :bluesweat
24. This is the default town theme: GE-GFD-BCz?zc-zz It's laid out like this... Which should help you pick it out. g a b | c d e f | G A | B C D | E blue |bluegreen|green| yellow|orange I'll close it once you post back in here at let me know that you got it working.
25. They do sell 3" CD cleaners, which are the exact same size as a GC disc... Unfortunately, I doubt they'd even spin in there for more than 2 seconds since they aren't Nintendos format. Cleaning the lens the way you did was the best and only alternative really. It doesn't sound like something that has to do with the system being dirty though, because it would still be reading at least some of the time in that case. And then he can buy an Xbox, which is known for having even more disc reading problems than GC has :p
