I remember you, so other people have to heh. I don't know. I just got off a really horrible relationship. Still trying to figure out where I am going and where I've been, especially in terms of schooling. There are a few things. The main one is my mom. I have a few family members that I think would be there for me no matter what, but my mom is always above even them. No matter what happens she somehow winds up understanding it (even if she gets really mad over the stupid stuff, she always seems to understanding with the stuff that really matters). I guess that means a lot to me. All my grandparents are great, but the ones in Florida (we just call them Grandpa Florida and Daria lol) are simply the best. He is almost like my own dad (he is my dad's father, but my dad passed away - have a step father now, and I'll admit it's not the same). Anything I need to know, I ask him... he seems to have gone through everything. He's rather young for a grandpa too. He's 65 and half of my friends' parents are that old lol. Then I'd say my brothers. They drive me nuts a lot of course (they're 7 and 9). They're constantly up here asking for things and barging into my room. On the other hand they're a lot of fun and great to talk to. I love hearing about the little pointless (well, to most people anyway) things that excite them so much in their day. Lastly, my friends... Particularly Manny who I've known for several years now and have a great friendship with. I can relate to him more than anyone else, and it's gotten better in the recent couple years. Other than that, this girl Ashley I'm good friends with. We always have good conversation. So really, all the great people who make your life what it is, and make up for all the things in it that suck.

I have no idea what you mean by system file, as I own the SNES versions of both of those games... so I never bothered playing much of the PSX versions (which had horrible loading that I couldn't deal with). If you could tell me what it is... I'll check. Neither of the games seem to have that two player battle option like FF6 did from what I've seen so far.

I don't think it's very surprising that people here know them. The band is seemingly everywhere now, although they are still rather low key. Basically they just remind me of Linkin Park with a girl. I hate Linkin Park, and female vocals (despite me prefering them to most guys) just cannot save this band for me. I've not heard every song of theirs, but my opinion has remained the same. Edit - I just wanted to stress the hate heh :)

Well James and I decided that your computer is simply messed up, because even when everything is working you're the only one having problems lol.
-
Well I dug out my GC Instruction Book... Says the same stuff I said and you did in the troubleshooting. I don't know when you bought your system, but it has a 12 month warranty from Nintendo... If all else fails, hopefully you're still covered under that?
-
The game got a 34 in Famitsu I believe, which is still very good... But lower than other games in the series. I have no plans to buy this game, but we'll see how it turns out gameplay wise.
-
Does this happen with PSO only or any game? That could help. Otherwise... All I can say is the obvious stuff: Make sure the disc is clean, the system is clean and it's in an open area where it can be decently ventilated. I believe Nintendo itself has pretty long warranty as well, so if all else fails... Try them.

Works fine for me.

Well, we manage to talk about games none of us has. I thought it would be nice for once to talk about a game that one of us has some experience with. It's not as if no one here is interested in this game. Hell, I'm sure most of you won't get to play it til it releases in April at the earliest heh. Now that I'm farther in the game, it's obvious much of the music is midi. The town theme still doesn't seem like it though. Regardless, the music is quite good. There is also a clock and a step counter in the menus, just like FF6. Money is now referred to as Gil, instead of Gold. In FF1, f you cast a spell on a party member, and they die before it's cast... It will be cast on their dead body. Cure is an example of this. I mention it only because I don't remember this being the case in the newer games. Some monster names are different from what I remember too. One last thing I noticed. Holding down Circle lets you run now. Walking is not a pain like it used to be heh. Doesn't work on the map though. --------------------------------- Tasis - In FF2, there doesn't seem to be a class system. At least at the start. The characters are specific things and look specific ways. All you can do is change their names... If there is a way to change their abilities later in the game, I do not know yet. Nerdsy - That little scene is still in the game, and no you cannot skip it. I always liked it though, because I feel that's the best song in the series :)

Everyone is not you Harry. If you can't keep friends then fine, but I have many friends that I've had since I was a child. It's not impossible lol. Anyway, there is such a thing as communication. Why can't you just keep in touch with these people? Sure, it won't save everything, but it's an option. That said, you should be more concerned with your future, and if the boarding school is an option that will help that be realized... Well then do it. Like everyone said, you'll make new friends.

Once I dreamt about something I forget... But in the dream I went to my website. For some reason when I woke up, I remembered how it looked really clearly, so I set out to make it. Of course I couldn't, and I wound up with Slow Nerve Action's current layout (which I don't even like anymore... I'm going to do it more like the splash now heh). Otherwise... It's just a variety of things. Sometimes I see a site and I like the idea, so I do my own take on it. Sometimes I'm just bored and I force myself to something, not that it ever results in anything good. Most of my banners are of random bands... I just get an idea to make one when they pop up on Winamp every so often. And then there are things I do just for a job... Such as those theOtaku.com wallpapers. I don't give a crap about any of those anime shows I've done them for (infact, I think most anime outright sucks... despite me writing for the anime review section there too lol). Those are hit and miss I guess. So really, it's not anything particular. I guess inspiration can come from anything. When I'm listening to a song, sometimes I don't even think about what I'm doing and just see what results. They often turn out bettert than I expected, and it's a much better experience than simply forcing myself to do a particular piece. Maybe that would be a good thing to try?

It's actually Stand Alone Complex... It's its own show and isn't really based on GitS2 (which would be Man Machine Interface... it's getting it's own movie, but no show). I've seen some of the series, and I can't see much in it to cut out honestly. It's nearly all talking and honestly rather boring... And this is coming from someone that loved the original manga to death.

The only magazine I subscribe to is EGM. Mostly because I usually find a trick where I get a year's subscription for free. I've bought a few Spin and Rolling Stones magazines, but quickly realized that they were total tripe and never bought another. There are some good local magazines here though, such as Slab.

There is a guy simliar to this in my Sociology class, which I actually have tomorrow. It's three hours long each week, so everyone has to put up with this moron. Only one other guy seems to agree with any of his viewpoints. He is one of those people who somehow feels he is oppressed simply because he is black and the world owes it to him. He seems to have absolutely no examples of people treating him this way in his own actual life. He constantly contradicts himself... For example, complaining about racism and stereotypes, but then making comments of those types about other races. He drives me nuts. It wouldn't be so bad if he shut his mouth for once. The sad thing is that this guy is like 30 something when the rest of us are mostly like 20 (with some exceptions). I guess some things never change. He is good for some laughs though. For one reason during a discussion, he got up and whispered something to the teacher. Then he wrote on the board: "Keep your friends close, and your enemies close" Of course that's not how it goes, and it just proves easily that the guy thinks he is intelligent and witty when he really has no clue about anything around him. Such is life.

There is some emoish stuff I tolerate. There are bands like Deathcab for Cutie that I think do what they do really damn well... And then there are bands like Dashboard Confessional (well one guy anyway) that I wish would shrivel up and die a long, painful death. Bright Eyes is also alright, and I really like Ozma if that's considered emo. Ozma in particular has some amazing lyrics and some really kickass guitar solos. The last girl I dated was into emo, which in itself isn't a bad thing. The problem is that she only liked MTV emo crap like this and whatever else struck a chord with people and was popular at the time. It always drove me nuts. I'd recommend a slightly less popular group and she'd have no idea who they were. Ironically, she loves All American Rejects now. Anyway, I don't like these guys. That's all there really is to it heh.

Trompe Le Monde is wonderful :). I'd say grab all their main CDs, but since that's not an option... Definately get Doolittle. It's probably my overall favorite of theirs (although most of my absolute favorite tracks are on Come on Pilgrim, go figure), and the art and photos are great too. And the song's title is "Space (I Believe In)," so close enough I'd say heh.
-
Well, a couple more replies than I actually expected heh. Hopefully treton_noir will get the CDs from me soon, and Mitch will get some downloaded and there will actually be something to talk about in here hopefully. Thanks to the three of you that bothered :) Always strikes me odd what band threads get replies and which ones don't. People need to broaden their horizons a bit I'd say.
Originally posted by Cyke Heh, it doesn't work that way. You see, when you talk about a PARTNER, it's more than just a sexual attraction. Therefore, appearance matters little. If you were referring to what type of physique attracts me or turns me on, then I'd say I like curvy women, well stacked in T&A. However, when choosing a partner, it goes WAY beyond appearances.
That's what wrist cutter was asking for in the first place in my opinion... both aspects. I thought otherwise at first, but upon reading it over I think he just wants to avoid all the self righteous BS people post about how they aren't superficial whatsoever or whatever else. He's asking for honesty really. Works for me, and stuff like this is one of the reasons I like him heh. Edit - Unless you are referring to something or someone else and I'm confused... in which case I apologize. Either way, let's not get into it much as I don't want to get his thread off track :)

Now first of all this game is not out yet. How did I get it? Let's just say I'm special :). Don't bother hunting it out at the store just yet! I'm going to try to avoid writing super long winded impressions (ala Dark Cloud 2) and just get down to the new and fixed up stuff. In Japan Bandai had a system called Wonderswan Color. It was meant to compete with the Gameboy, but just recently Bandai said they were giving up on it (Square is releasing FF3 on it anyway). Square did ports of FF and FF2 from the Famicom (NES), but fixed up the graphics. Origins is a port of these with some new additions... As such the graphics aren't amazing. They are certainly better than the NES games, but I don't think they are much better than FF4's graphics. There has been some FMV added, but like Chronicles it only is used before you start the game, and never again. Still, it looks rather nice. I'll divide my thoughts into each game. The main menu just lets you pick FF1 or FF2 and is nothing special. Final Fantasy First of all, loading is NOT bad in this game. I complain about the loading in Chronicles constantly, and this game doesn't seem to have as much of a problem. Yay! I don't know how many have played the original on the NES, but let's just say it's a pain in the *** to play through. Even I don't like dealing with its slow pace and rather difficult gameplay. However, lots of things have been fixed up that make it a lot more enjoyable. When you start the game you get to choose your 4 character types like expected. It's basically the same except for two things. 1.) You are allowed 6 characters for your name instead of 4 like in the original. 2.) The Black Belt is now called a Monk. Then the game starts. First thing you'll notice are the graphics. They are very familiar, but still much better. Of course they are still rather dated, and like I said barely beat FF4 (if even that). The colors seem a bit darker than I would have liked as well. The second thing is the sound. The sound was reworked for the PSX versions compared to the Wonderswan Color ones and it's freaking excellent. I loved the music in the original game, and it almost sounds orchestrated in this game. If it's midi I'll be really surprised, because in that sense it sounds far better than the other PSX FF games which were obviously midi. The town theme seems to be played on a real guitar too, which was cool. As you'll notice when you meet the King, the important characters have a bit more animation then they used to. There are now little emoticons that characters show when something happens, and they even show the King their crystals when he asks. Upon entering Cornelia I noticed a few other things that I was happy about. The translation is very simliar which is nice for nostalgia, but still noticably improved. The layout is exactly the same though. When buying weapons it shows you in an obvious way who can use what, and whether or not it will benefit you. The BIGGEST improvement is being able to order more than one thing at a time... Even in the item shop. The original would only let you buy one potion at a time, despite you being able to hold tons and it was a big pain. Now you can just get as many as you like, just as in the other FFs. I was extremely happy about this. There is also a new option in your menu called "Memo." IT basically lets you save anywhere, which is great. It's not a real save though... as when you load it, it will be deleted. It's just meant as a safety. And the BEST BEST thing? If you tell all your characters to attack the same monster, they won't keep attacking it even after it dies. This is great, as that was my biggest problem with the original! Lets all say yay for Square! In fights, the game uses different sprites for some reason. They are still super-deformed, but are a not as cartoony and are quite a bit more beefed up. They are simliar to those in FF6 I suppose. The backgrounds are a lot better thankfully. There are also apparently lots of extra things to unlock, much like Chronicles, where each game had an art gallery and such. From the looks of it, these games have far more though. The game also has an Easy Mode, but I've not tried it. I've heard i was babyishly simple though. Final Fantasy 2 I've not played this that much yet. I have played some of the ROM so I know a bit about it. Same deal with sound and graphics. The biggest difference with this over the first is that there is actually character interaction and it is done well enough without tons of sappy drama to ruin it. It has the Memo option and all that as well. You don't get to create your own characters, but you start with 4 and are allowed to name them whatever you please. They all have nice little Amano art in the menus :). The fights and options and controls and everything else are basically the same as in the FF stuff I wrote. The other cool addition that this has over the first FF (it was in the original Famicom version, but still neat) is that if an important character says something of importance, you can pick "Memorize" from a menu. From then on you can choose "Ask" when you talk to someone to get more information on it. It gives the game a nice little touch I think. There is also an "Item" option as well. I wouldn't mind this returning in the new FF games personally. ----------------------------------------- Last thing to mention is that the game uses the vibration of the dual shock, but sadly not the sticks. Overall, I think it's worth getting if you want to know where the series started. Many may be turned off by FF's lack of character development and unrelenting dungeons at times... But FF2 is far better and stood the test of time rather well. I'd say it's worth the $30 it will retail for just for that game.

I'd like to say I'm not very particular, but I've found when you start thinking about what you'd actually like (or want) it becomes a pretty long list. So yeah, I'm sure this is going to be way longer than it should be and I'm going to come off like a dick who expects everyone to live up to this... But really I don't. Even the girlfriend I had that I was totally in love with didn't have most of these, and it didn't matter. I was happy. Still this is about "perfect" and hopefully no one will get into some crap over what people say lol. I know mostly what I don't like... Totally not into smokers. I can't handle being around it. My parents were heavy smokers before my mom had more kids, and it lead to a lot of illness on my part. I don't want to get used to it again, and it's just a major turnoff at this point. Same with anything like it... drinking, drugs, whatever. I don't do this stuff (although I have done some things many years ago), and I don't plan to even when I'm of legal age to even drink. It does nothing for me. My parents and their friends drink (many joints at our parties lol, plus we have a full bar built into our basement), and while I love these people... I don't want to be anything like them. The same goes for someone I dated. I could tolerate the drinking, but I know I'd be worried about it all the time. I don't like girls that wear lots of makeup. I don't mind some, and I actually like eyemakeup within reason... But blush and foundation and all that are a turn off to me. I don't really care if you can't see it, but I've found many girls cake on so much that it's just really obvious. It bothers me heh. I prefer dark hair, I always have. I'm generally not into blondes at all, despite me being blonde usually (I dye a lot). Black is fine, but I prefer brunettes heh. Race itself doesn't matter to me, as long as I'm attracted to the girl. Usually winds up being mostly white and asian girls though. Bodywise... I don't know. I don't like really skinny girls, but I am not exactly attracted to the opposite end of that spectrum either. I guess "average" is what you'd call it? Works for me. I also find myself just not being attracted to women people find hot. I like girls that are normal, for lack of a better word. I don't like how pornstars look, I don't like many actresses (I cringe whenever a girl says she wishes she looked like Julia Roberts, who I find totally unattractive). There are also things that catch my eye and result in near instant interest on my part... One of those things are Converse Allstars (I refuse to call these things Chucks lol); dyed hair is another, preferrably done well (I don't really like those halfassed dye jobs that look like they've faded and are all mixed in badly with the person's natural haircolor); of course anything that shows that this girl is remotely interested in any sort of music I like is also great. For some reason I assume that people who look or dress certain ways would have more in common with me than other people. A lot of the time it is true, and a lot of the time it's not. I joke with people I know that the perfect girl would love The Pixies. I've not met this person yet (well one, but that wouldn't have happened... dated her best friend), but perhaps someday. At the very least I'd like the person to at least tolerate my music. I'm tired of defending what I like against jokes constantly (especially Manson, I'm so ****ing tired of the junior high jokes and BS I have to listen to about that). Liking games would also be nice... not that I really care that much. It is rather annoying when a girl (or whoever really) thinks games are the lowest form of entertainment and get all pissy when you want to play them. It's not as if I'm sacrificing my time with these girls to play my games, but they sure as hell act like it sometimes. I guess one of the most important thing would be that I'd be able to talk to this girl at a good intellectual level, but still keep a sense of humor. This is a lot rarer than I thought it would be. The thing that totally matters most to me is that I want a girl I could be with where we'd be doing absolutely nothing other than being together and it would be fine. I think that's important... I don't think either of should have to be constantly coming up with things to say or trying to impress one another. Sometimes just being together and not saying anything is the best thing there is. ----------------- So barring all that crap... Really just someone I could click with. That's a hard thing to explain, but I think anyone knows what I mean. Some people you just work with and you can read eachother really well. I've only met two girls like this for me in my lifetime, but I think that it is what is most important. Sorry for writing so much... Most people would probably just write some sort of point by point list... :bluesweat

In terms of what Charles said, and James referred to... I suggested in a chat that I would like it if mods had more specific titles rather than simply "moderator." Some people don't even seem to realize that I cannot do anything outside of my section, and I think this would help greatly. I'm glad that others seem to agree with this idea.

Anyone that knows me knows that I tend to stay up until at least 2 AM, generally more like 4 or 5 AM. Sometimes I don't bother sleeping at all because I need to be out of the house for class at 7 AM. I hate taking naps because I wake up even more tired than when I started. I'd say on average 4 to 6 hours of sleep. Of course, when I can sleep in I wind up waking up at like noon or something.

The next Wrestlemania game was confirmed before X8 was even finished. I can't stand wrestling, but anyone that thinks Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 takes more technique is crazy. That's a button masher if I ever saw one.

I have this game on Dreamcast. I'll try to explain how it works. Your ship has two colors to it. A light, and a dark. The same goes for all of the enemies on screen. They differ in size, strength and appearance, but they both are either light or dark. Dark shoots dark shots (a shade of black and red) and light shoots light shots (a shade of white and blue). When you are dark you can absorb dark shots, but light shots will kill you. The same goes for the opposite. There is a meter on the left of the screen, and when you absorb a shot it starts to fill up. You can then press another button that will shoot out a homing blast, so there is a good reason to absorb what you can. Now obviously, that means light shots will destroy your dark ship and dark shots will destroy your light ship. So why would you want to go against a light ship when yours is dark? Because your black ships do twice as much damage to the light ships. The opposites are weaknesses. The game is quite pretty too. It's fully 3D, but when you're actually playing you'll barely notice. Looks like a great 2D game. There are a lot of extra modes and some nice music as well. The two player mode isn't really any more cooperative than any other 2 player mode in a shooter... Other than you'll have to communicate what you're shooting at if you want to make combos (the game has a combo system, you have to shoot 3 of one color in a row and then 3 of the same or the other color... it adds up). You also cannot be in the same place at the same time and will wind up pushing eachother's ships. Sorry I had to repeat light and dark so much, but it's hard to explain how it works without getting like that heh. Quite a good game, and one of the better shoots available.
