I'm adding two more members because I would absolutely needa keyboardist and a programmer in a dream band. My dream band wouldn't really be any particular deadon genre. I like stuff that mixes it up and is unique... And with some of these guys in the band (even having smaller parts), I know they'd influence the band to the point that it would be something great and different. Lead Singer: Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantomas) Guitarist: Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen... haha) Second Guitarist: Black Francis (The Pixies... aka Frank Black) Bassist: Twiggy Ramirez (ex-Manson, last I heard was in something called "Headband") Edit - I totally forgot that he replaced Paz in A Perfect Circle recently :D Drummer: Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) Keyboardist: Trent Reznor (NIN... I'm sure he'd help program too heh) Programmer: Dean Garcia (Curve) There we go :D Edit: Ditched Jeff Martin for Mike Patton.

If you have a scroll wheel mouse... You can hold Ctrl down and turn the wheel up and down. It will change the font size.

I used to. Great Southern Trendkill is one of their better albums, although I prefer the older ones. Some members of Pantera do a side project known as Down, which finally put out a second album a couple years ago. I much prefer them. I've honestly never even heard anyone refer to either of those other bands mentioned as heavy before, but that's me heh.

It's been like 6 years... lol. But I believe Cecil and the Dragoon guy (I forget his name) come across a mist dragon and must kill it so they can get through a cave or some such. They defeat it, but dragon turns out to be Rydia's mother in another form. If I'm right, IM me and I'll just edit this.

Cosplay is a very scary thing, as proven by this photo of me dressed up as an anime girl. Do not highlight this unless you want to know the horrible truth...
It's not me.
Seriously, cosplay is something I'll never understand. Could either of you explain why people do this? I just don't get it.

Another thread I've wanted to make for a while. It's obviously pretty clear that I have different taste in music than a good deal of the people here (certainly not all...). After my Curve/Tweaker thread became a thread for everyone's random bands instead of the ones I wanted to talk about (and then it died), I was a little hesitant about bothering to make another... So I decided to just do one band at a time and see if that actually helps. Today that band is the Pixies. Possibly my favorite band ever. I got into them quite a few years ago now, and it always surprises me how many people have never heard of them despite their success, awards (some for band of the year) and rather large cult following. I guess that's mostly because they broke up so long ago though. In a way it's rather sad though, because the Pixies are looked back on as one of the largest groups responsible for the alternative movement of the 1990s. Sure there were bands like REM that had made it out of the underground, but it wasn't really classified as 'alternative' at that point. The Pixies helped more or less create the genre. They combined aspects of punk, indie rock, guitar rock, classic pop, surf rock and riffs and came up with something that really had never been done to that point (and my opinion, never really replicated). In a way, they laid the foundation for bands such as Nirvana to run away with and bring to new levels of music. Biography Crap for those interested- Feel free to skip down to the end The band is made up of a couple college dropouts... Charles Thompson (the main guy) and Joey Santiago. They later recruited Kim Deal on bass, despite her not even owning one at the time (she played with her sister in The Breeders, and now that The Pixies are over, she is back with them). David Lovering was added on drums, and the band's lineup was complete. Charles came up with the stagename Black Francis (maybe some people here actually know Frank Black? That's him), and thet randomly chose their band name from a dictionary. They made some demos (now referred to as The Purple Tape) and were picked up by 4AD records, who picked out 8 songs and released them on the Come On Pilgrim EP in 1987. Their first LP came out in '88 and was called Surfer Rosa. This was followed up by Doolittle (which I would say is their overall best CD), and it actually had two Top 10 Rock hits... "Here Comes Your Man" and "Monkey Gone to Heaven." Bossanova came out in 1990 and had a couple more hits, mostly with college students, "Veloria" and "Dig For Fire" (I really do not like that second one hehe). Trompe Le Monde was then released in 1991, and the band opened for U2 on their tour. They broke up shortly after, and like mentioned Black Francis became Frank Black for his solo efforts and Kim Deal went to The Breeders. The other members haven't really done anything special to them. End of biography crap! Anyway, now that the biography crap is out of the way we can get to the music. The Pixies really sound like little else, before or even now. There are many bands that are influenced by them, and in a sense they laid the groundwork for the whole Seattle explosion (I remember a member of Nirvana commenting that Smells Like Teen Spirit wound up sounding more like a Pixies song). They are extremely hard to get into though. Black Francis is just a strange guy, and a lot of the songs are simply about... well, I guess small things, some almost could be considered nothing (in the same sense as Seinfeld I guess heh). Some are impossible to really know all the meanings to, others you would never guess. As such they are a really acquired taste. It took me a bit to get used to, but obviously now I love them and own every damn thing they ever bothered to put out. If you are interested here are some songs that I feel are good to start with. There are others I consider my favorites, but they aren't something I'd tell people to listen to to really see the full range of the band heh. Songs - Here Comes Your Man, Debaser, I Bleed, Into the White, Gigantic, Trompe Le Monde, Alec Eiffel, Wave of Mutilation, Gouge Away, and Where Is My Mind? are all good starts. Any comments for or against the band would be appreciated. Would be nice to know that people at least tried if they didn't already know the band. If you do know them well already, well then I love you already :D Kim Deal sings a few Pixies songs as well, and is the lead singer for The Breeders now. For some reason I am completely in love with her singing voice, despite her not being that amazing (well on some records, the latest Breeders I'm kind of mixed on). I can't explain that well though heh. I think the most annoying thing is that I'll have to buy all these all over again because they are being remastered for release in 2003 :bawl: Edit - Well all the CD covers suddenly cannot be linked. How annoying.

I believe the Japanese name was translated as Butz... But the US version was Bartz because obviously Butz sounds really stupid.

While I don't like the joke, and it shouldn't have been posted die to obvious reasons... that isn't the censor script. Why would that even be censored? There were no actual bad words in it. That's the spoiler tag, and it's designed so you can highlight and read stuff that maybe you wouldn't want to see otherwise. Obviously, it doesn't do what you think it does and you definately haven't figured out some big secret lol.

http://www.intothematrix.com/ They have stuck up the second episode today. Again, definately worth checking out. Here is the direct link for the large version: From: http://progressive1.stream.aol.com/wb/gl/wbonline/progressive/thematrix/us/med/program0xA3B1____640_dl.zip It clocks in at about 150 MBs.

This will be closed soon. If you want to ask questions like this, use a PM. There is a button under each of my posts for it, as well as a link in my signature... just like everyone else. I'll answer you here anyway, too late now. Anyway, I don't moderate Sony... At all. So I think you're very confused. I don't have the image. Try going to www.google.com and looking for 'dancing banana' or something.

Yeah. That's the title. I read about this a couple weeks ago. At first I was interested, but... now I don't know. Playing tiny little parts of other games as well as new minigames doesn't interest me that much. Could be fun though, especially multiplayer.

The advertising is regulated to his sig. He's not advertising HomestarRunner any more than Ginny used to Gargoyles, treton_noir does Tool or I do Manson. It's all good. Anyway, the banner is quite good and I like the imagery. The only thing I have that seems off is that the font is slightly hard to read at times.

It's hard to relate it to anything else when this is still mostly a FF forum and I know you've all played the games ;)

And they both stole it from carnivals and theme parks. Oh well.

Well, now that the Earthbound GC game is almost everything but confirmed, I must say they are definately giving me what I want (hopefully lol). I am glad all that everything vs. GC argument is over, as that's not even the purpose of this thread (or so I thought). There are many things Nintendo does that I wish they wouldn't do. I wish they would stop putting on lame advertisements that won't even excite me for games that I have been waiting years for. I wish they wouldn't totally pass on games that I really wanted (Magical Vacation, Tomato Adventure, Marvelous: Another Treasure Island, almost the entire Fire Emblem series), or announce they are bringing something over and just never do it (Doshin, Mother/Earthbound Zero, Kuru Kuru Kururin Paradise). I also realize that Pokemon fans really want something just like the Gameboy games in 3D. I have no idea why Nintendo hasn't tried that. Perhaps they feel it would kill the trading aspect, but online features or GBA connection could easily change that. At the same time Nintendo has been putting out sequels to games I wanted very quickly. They never did this with N64, and it's not that far from the pace SNES was going at this time in terms of first party releases. Hell, we already got a Mario, Metroid and Zelda (well in a few weeks)... When's the last time that has happened? On top of that there are some original games and other random sequels I've enjoyed very much. I must say I'm very happy overall, despite my problems with Nintendo (which are a lot more numerous than what I've listed). I have double the amount of PS2 games than I do on my GC, but for me GC offers a totally different experience than PS2 does for the most part. I like having both.

It seems as if the entire forum likes Linkin Park (other than me and some others) Search engines are your friend. The song is Carousel.

Nintendo was the last of the three to even mention a new system. Every generation, the work on the new system begins before ot shortly after the current one is out the door. It was no different in the SNES days, and it's no different now. The only reason that even matters is because people like to get caught up in what's coming rather than what is there. There are still many good years left for all the consoles. And in terms of the launch there was basically Madden, SSX and Tekken Tag. Nothing else was that special (many looked worse than current DC games at the time), and I don't think it was any better than the DC launch or the GC one honestly. As for the DVD playing cube... It wasn't gold, it has a mirror surface. It's called the Q and is only available in Japan. Panasonic/Matsushita makes it.
-
It's well done, but I must admit I really don't like it. Nothing about it really conveys Ryoga or Ranma 1/2 in general to me... Other than the random picture in the corner.
-
I think people are a little ahead of themselves. The thing has only been out a little over a year, so I don't know what is expected. It takes time to make games, and they are thankfully being far better about it than they were with N64 (although still not great). At least they seem to be focused on making their next system fix these problems it seems. People seem to forget that for months after launch the PS2 had only a couple games even worth buying. Xbox went for the longest time with only one killer app, which was Halo. I fail to see how this is much different. And GTA isn't a FPS.
-
If you guys are 100% sure of your answer, post a question... Then we won't have to wait heh :D

Guh? One hour? The cutscenes in Wild Arms 3 alone add up to at least 3 times that. [Edit - Well you changed that to 5, which is still way too short, and I have a really hard time remotely believing it.] Mystic Quest isn't worth anyone's time. The game was designed to get people who normally aren't into RPGs into them... Unfortunately it didn't do anything really well. It's nice for a run through, but I don't feel it really conveys anything a good RPG does.
-
Alright. At least I'm finally clear on what it was you were trying to get across before lol. I honestly didn't know what you were trying to say in some of the other posts. Anyway, that's all reasonable. I had an Xbox, and despite so many people loving it... I just didn't like the games I had on it (Halo, JSRF, etc). I sold it. I guess you're just in the same situation, but with GC. As for Timesplitters 2, it has just as many multiplayer modes and bot setups as PD did... Maybe the maps aren't quite as good (I think some are just too mazelike, but some art great). I'm having more fun with it than PD personally.
-
Well I was speaking to GhostofSalvtore since he wants a PD style game. I personally thought the story was lame, the main game's levels were mostly very poorly designed and the framerate was sometimes so bad that it was practically unplayable. I simply didn't like it. Zelda's preorders are very high... And it seems that most people forgave the graphically change once they actually played it. I always liked the change, but was still iffy on it. I was completely sold once I played the demo. It's possible that's the game people need to change their minds... Otherwise, there are games like Killer 7, RE4. Starfox Armada and F-Zero that are rather high profile and interest me a lot as well... Plus whatever this GC Metal Gear Solid game turns out to be.
-
See the ThePikasElbow knows what he is talking about. Now that we've both said it, maybe people will realize this lol. Have you tried Time Splitters 2? The main members of the Goldeneye team are all involved with Free Radical which made the game. It's a huge step up from the original, and I think rather similiar to Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. I think Perfect Dark was way overhyped and overrated than it really should have been anyway. There are far better FPS games around, although I guess most are confined to the PC. My opinion obviously. As for the rest of it... I have no idea what you are trying to say in most of your posts GhostofSalvtore. You don't even seem to know what you want outside of Perfect Dark for GC, and that's never going to happen. The next Perfect Dark game is on Xbox. Other than that it's as if you expect Nintendo to make a GTA style game, which won't happen (Mafia is supposed to come to GC eventually, which is similiar). People have tried showing you that there are many games on the system, and you just blow it off with some post about how everyone likes something different (a few times now). I'm not sure what it is you want people to say to you to make you satisfied in here.
