Heh, thanks. Microsize Boy is probably the worst track on the CD in my opinion, but I still like it. Like I said, Happy Child is excellent if you can get it. Same with Linoleum. As for you AFI people... where were you for the Sing the Sorrow thread? No one even bothered other than Piro and myself.

True, but it was never released in the US, so I'm far more interested. Emulation isn't my thing.

I can't know what you're talking about when you're not clear at all, so give me a break. I obviously wasn't the only one who took it that way, but I apologize for it. I wasn't insinuating that you lied. I took it as if her friend was saying you had sex when you actually didn't. Relax. Now that I know what actually happened (mostly thanks to other people, because who knows otherwise), I still say the same answer. This happened a year ago, and she told her friend now? Why is that a big deal...? Everyday I see someone get upset over something so small in a relationship on here. Talk to her about it, don't come on a messageboard and expect amazing advice from people; especially when you're obviously looking for certain repsonses and are going to jump at the other ones. I honestly just think you are being way too hasty and rash in your decision. I'm not trying to come off as a dick, so sorry if I am... But talk to her and work this out. Throwing a year and half long relationship out the window over this makes no sense to me. If you are as in love as you say, you'd work through it. Really, her friend could have just been exaggerating and playing around with you. People do crap like that, irregardless of people's feelings. Somehow I doubt your girlfriend said it in the same way to her.

It basically, was... but it's a bit late for that now. Only one response even directed towards either band I mentioned as it is lol. No big deal I suppose.

I have a feeling that MGS on GBC is still better than this...lol. but I admit it looks pretty interesting. Making it 2D instead of overhead was a rather odd choice I think.

I agree with Mitth'raw'nuruodo... Especially considering he said March 25th and it's not even March yet. Eh, **** happens. I hardly think this is something you should get this worked up over.
-
Heh.. Got me there. I believe I'll be the only one to try. You're the only other one I know of here that's played the game more than 10 minutes... so I don't know if you'll get an answer lol/

Yes, ask a question :).

Lezard is in love with Lenneth Valkyrie, although it seems to be more of an obsession. In Gitaroo Man, what is the name of the Shark boss?

I'm single, so no real plans. A girl I am friends with was saying how she didn't think she was going to be getting anything... So I'm drawing her a picture. That's about all I have planned that's Valentines-ishy.

This has been brought up at least 4 times since I came here... I'll just shorten what I usually say. I've been in 2 long distance relationships. The first didn't really become much of anything. She lived up in Michigan, which is quite a while away. She actually lived here in Chicago for school, but at the time I was living by St. Louis (which is still far). The second one was with a girl who lives in Ohio. The city is about a 9 hour drive from here. We loved eachother very much, but she is one of those types of people that needs someone close (she is also rather depressive), so it just couldn't last. We managed it for about 7 months. Internet only relationships are a bizarre thing. I would never tie myself down to someone I know only online, as I find it pointless. That's not to say you can't have feelings for eachother, but very little will ever come of it if you cannot see eachother. So basically... I don't like long distance relationships. I put a lot into the second one I mentioned, only to have it basically blow up in my face near the end. Would I do it again? I'd like to say no, but I guess it really depends on the girl involved.

Anyway... no one was right as of yet.

It was just a reiteration... lol. You didn't mention the name change or the Snuffy argument, so there :p.

Portrait of an American Family was the label debut, and yes it was in 1994. Back before that, the band was known as Marilyn Manson and The Spooky Kids (the name was cut down later on, which is one of the many things that started pissing off Daisy). The rest of what treton_noir said is correct, although there are arguments on whether or not "Snuffy's VCR" ever really existed. So yes, they barely make the 80s cut. It's so close that I probably shouldn't have mentioned them lol... but many people don't realize the band has been going that long, so it seemed worth saying.

Anywayyyyyyy... Elite, as far as I know LimeWire doesn't do that. Tons of other ones install tons of crap on your PC even after saying no to all the options. Grokster and Kazaa for example. LimeWire connects to Gnutella networks, which some people like. Using LimeWire about a two years ago wasn't a bad experience on my part. Considering they are at school, I'd assume they are up on some sort of network, meaning the typical problems 56k people complain about (slow, kicked a lot) are hardly as much of an issue. I had none of those problems when I used it. If you read the comments for it at download.com, you'll find that most people using it on a Mac are total idiots and try to open it in programs that of course won't work. It's a .sit file, and so it has to be opened in StuffIt. Apparently, most of them can't figure that out. (If you install it and it freezes, just increase the virtual memory a bit). There aren't many other Mac P2P programs. Acquisition (it's at download.com too) is supposedly very good, but I've only heard about it from one person. It connects to gnutella too, meaning that there should be a lot of results. The only other one anyone has talked to me about is Myster. It runs on Java and apparently is decent. I don't know much more than that.

Mnemolth had the same problem as MathGuy2. Originally when the image map was done, it did link to "www.otakuboards.com" as I figured that's what everyone was typing in. For some bizarre reason, that made the link not work at all for some people and I was told to change it. So basically, clearing out the OB cookies and relogging in should fix it... It seemed to work for Mnemolth, if I remember correctly. Edit - Okay, it's been agreed to change that link back to the original (despite Desbreko's problems), so maybe that'll help some heh.

The main one on a Mac is Limewire. Should be easy enough to find, as it's crossplatform and rather popular.

Worst Mistake is the name of the song, Frequency is the game (my absolute favorite PS2 game :D). It's actually a remix. I don't even think it appears on any main LP of theirs, but there are versions of it on their site. Personally, while I like the song, it has nothing on some of their other tracks. Curve is one of those groups where you have to listen to the entire CD through to get a good opinion on them :).

There are like 8 shorts, most of which have barely been shown. The first shot I put up there is from the makers of Aeon Flux, which explains its look (that's the one most people seemed turned off by anyway). I think people should see it before they just too much. It's quite good, and I feel way better than much of the anime I see discussed here. That's my opinion anyway lol. At least someone else finally replied :D.

I'm surprised they'd even bother after the horrible mess Beyond the Thunderdome was. I consider that one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Anyway, my friend told me about this a while back... Unfortunately, I have no new information to give you. I just hope it turns out okay.

Another easy one -- What was the first FF game to feature Chocobos?
-
Bremma, I didn't refer to you as any sex in my posts. That was Sage. Kefka moves the statues twice at first I believe, and then Shadow comes and distracts him... I believe he starts pushing the statues back. I cannot remember how many times this happens, but I want to say it's something like five. I've not played that far in FF3 since 1995 lol. I'm probably wrong, as I can't even remember if that actually happened lol.

I've been wanting to post something like this for a while, but I keep stopping myself. I'll admit it's mostly because I find that bands I actually care about don't seem to get much response here (Tool and Queens of the Stone Age are the main exceptions that come to mind, although AFI too even if only Piro and I posted in it heh). So why am I bothering? I don't know. I know that far more people probably read through things I say than actually respond to them. I'm hoping that some people might actually actively try to find something out about these bands, and maybe become a fan. I don't even care if that's just one person, it's worth a shot. Then I can at least say I tried. If you know them already, then great... Say something about them and your experience with them. You'd get about +million respect points from me if you do. Anyway, this'll be posted in volumes. A few bands of varying popularity and genres in each volume. I'm sure some people know some of these, but yeah. Volume One Curve Genre: Generally described as shoegazer rock, with some electronica. Members: Toni Halliday (vocals) & Dean Garcia (bass and programming), plus guest members. LPs: Pubic Fruit (1992), Doppleganger (1992), Cuckoo (1993), Come Clean (1998), Gift (2001) Notable Songs: Perish, Horrorhead, Fait Accompli, Bleeding Heart, Lillies Dying, Something Familiar, Cuckoo, Doppleganger, Hung Up Opinion: Curve basically started the style that they have. A style that many bands have basically ripped off, radio-fied and popped up and manage to make popular - Garbage is a good example. In fact, Toni used to visit Butch Vig before there even was a Shirley Manson in the band. Despite Garbage's success, Toni just has more depth and a far better voice. Curve somehow has everything against them. Other bands popularized their ideas, their videos are never aired, their label can't afford tours for them... Yet they still manage to carry on and put out some amazing albums. Curve has definately evolved as a more completel "band" over the years. Their sound is certainly more polished than it used to be, and relies less on guitar noises and more on Garcia's programming. Toni Halliday simply has a beautiful voice, which is brough out even more because they band knows how to use it to their advantage. The early releases mostly fixated on all the different sounds that were possible, but there was still a good balance with Toni's voice. She is the main focal point in the newer stuff. Gift is the latest release, and despite a few songs that don't work too well (in my opinion), it's a very good example of their work. Toni's voice is almost never pushed into the background, and because of Garcia's music, it always meshes well. He can have the most basic, stripped beats going and then switch to something incredibly intense... but it almost always works. I'm sure many people will recognize "Hell Above the Water" from Spiderman, but it's one of the least impressive songs on the CD. However, I think that anyone just starting out would be wise to check out either Gift or Doppleganger. tweaker Genre: Electronica, rock Members: Chris Vrenna, plus guests. LPs: The Attraction to All Things Uncertain Notable Songs: Happy Child (w/Will Oldham), Linoleum (w/David Sylvian), Swamp, Years From Now, After All (w/Craig Wedren) Opinion: Anyone familiar with NIN's various members would know who Chris Vrenna is. Ignoring all the controversy between him and Trent (if there even really was any), he was basically a drummer and programmer. Vrenna left the band and became one of the major names in studio - doing tracks for U2, The Smashing Pumpkins, David Bowie, Marilyn Manson, Green Day and others. He also produced Cold's debut as well as the final Jack Off Jill album, "Clear Hearts, Grey Flowers." Vrenna had been alluding to tweaker for who knows how long, but little ever seemed to come of it. Eventually, a promo LP was released. It is apparently in very low supply, as I've yet to see one thing off it even appear online. It featured quite a few songs, most of which are vocal collaborations with the vocalist of Fear Factory as well as Xhibit (and then some) coupled withChris's music (he doesn't sing). The final version finally rolled around, with a substantially different track list. Most of the songs off the promo were completely removed and new songs were added. What resulted was a 13 track CD, mostly made up with instrumentals, but contained a few vocal pieces (provided by David Sylvian, Will Oldham and Craig Wedren). Overall, the CD is incredibly mellow. I'm not even sure how to describe the sound. The vocal tracks have a rock side, but still feature a nice amount of programming. The instrumentals are almost totally drums and programming, but for the most part are well done. Anyone expecting anything like NIN will be surprised, as this is nothing like it. Vrenna succeeded in coming out from under Trent Reznor's shadow with this CD I'd say. Although some of the instrumentals are better than others, I found every track to be very good at the least. Some of the vocal tracks stand out in particular with some surprisingly good lyrics. I'd check out Happy Child, as it's definately my favorite song on the CD. www.tweaker.net provides a nice amount of MP3 downloads, as well as lots of his remixes. -------------- That's about all I feel like writing today. Took more time than I expected. Even if you wind up hating either of these bands, I'd like some sort of response or your thoughts :). Thanks.

I think that's how everyone says it... lol. As a word. Scuba is a shorter version of many words, just like FAQ is... No one spells out scuba when they say it heh.

Downloading mp3s, like Piro said, wastes bandwidth... which in turn will slow other people connected to the network down (especially if several people are doing this). Not allowing it also lets the schools avoid all the copyright arguments that go on... And honestly, you're in school to do schoolwork (or I suppose browse the internet), not to download crap. There are more ways around it... I remember reading about a site that would load other sites within itself, basically blocking out all the filter stuff. It worked for some people, but not everyone. Thankfully, my school doesn't block anything.
