1. I saw this earlier today. So basically... A company formed in 2002, by nothing but marketers and e-commerce fallouts is going to get a console (which right now, is apparently nothing more than a crappy render) out in less than a year? Yeah right. - Fastest console on the market - Broadest selection of preloaded games - Cross Platform capabilities - State of the art design and architecture - Advanced accessories and wireless capabilities - Online connectivity for multi player gaming - Seamless upgrades and patch management - A multi tiered subscription service that meets the needs of casual, moderate and hard-core game players - Demo games before purchasing or subscribing - Games on demand - Game Rentals There are so many things on this that are simply beyond what is possible right now. Either that, or the only comparison is crap. There haven't been decent preloaded games since the Master System, I can't imagine what kind of crap will be built into this one. Cross-platform capabilities... With what? If it's any console, they'd be sued to hell if they could even figure out how to do this. Otherwise, I really have no idea what this could mean. For all we know, they can just be saying it'll use PC devices through USB ports or something like that (which PS2 already does). The way they word this... It doesn't even seem like you could go to the store and buy games. This is such a niche thing it's crazy. I don't know that I'd be willing to pay to download a game for a few hours (newer games are huge, especially FMV and sound heavy ones that are common now). Stuff like the 3DO, Nuon, Indrema, Jaguar... They've all come and gone, and some of those were even from established companies. I cannot see any developer (other than the odd independant one) ever wanting to get in on this. Ideas like this have come before, and the important developers have all said no to it. Anyway, we'll see if this even comes out... Supposedly the registrar of the site's domain is known for coming up with stuff that never happens. Other than the whole downloading and always-on broadband idea... This really doesn't seem much like a PC or Xbox in my opinion. Xboxes and PCs share parts and simliar OS ideas and such. This doesn't even mention jack about it. PS - Watch the flash movie when you get there. Don't ask me how that's considered state of the art design.

RahXephon

I've not seen it... But I've been told that it's very reminiscent of Evangelion. Only supposedly even more complicated. I've not seen Evangelion either, I only know what Shy's mentioned to me. However, I was under the impression that RehXephon was very well liked by those who saw it. So yeah... That didn't help much :D.
3. No, it doesn't allow custom soundtracks... Which was said in basically every other post before yours.
4. Wow. I finally got my PS2 back the other day, and I popped in FFX. I hadn't played it in about 6 months. I was at the end of Bevelle, and finished that summon battle (with a super lucky kill). When I reached Seymour after this, I was expecting a really tough battle... It simply wasn't. I didn't use protect, or cast reflect on Seymour to reflect Morti's cure spells... Nothing. I just kept attacking with Auron and Tidus and had Yuna heal. When I got Seymour down to around 2,000 HP, I just kept killing Morti. After a few deaths, he heals Seymour far less. Easily beat him. Seymour banishes any Aeon right after their first attack, so I found using them rather useless. I'm really suprised that this is a common topic. I thought the summon battle was more difficult than this one.
5. There is an entire thread on that network as well: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17157 There is quite a bit more infomation in there if you'd like to check it out.
6. I used to play Magic years ago. It was a nice time waster when our AP History teacher used to give us study halls instead of teaching (He was the VP so sometimes he had too much to do otherwise I guess). It's really very easy to get into, especially if you have someone that knows what they're doing play you once. The captain of the basketball team there taught me it, of all people heh.
7. I liked them... Like a decade ago. It's funny how they fade in and out of popularity all the time. Most likely because they sound more poppy now that I remember them being years past. They used to be pretty much a varient of the Smashing Pumpkins. Anyway, I do like a few of their songs... 4 AM and Thief in particular are excellent.
8. Yeah, there is a First Season DVD set of Family Guy coming out sometime in the recent future.
9. Not to sound pessimistic... But petitions of this sort do nothing. There have been at least dozens in the past, and there are many for video game releases (the current one for Earthbound 64/Mother 3 is at almost 30,000 sigs) and even those do nothing. It's kind of a lost cause. I think the good thing to do would be to go to the store and get the DVDs or get into some other anime. Can't rely on CN forever. I do totally agree that they change the lineups for the worst in almost all of their timeslots though. How many times can I see Scooby Doo in a day? Damn. At the same time, I feel for you guys as I've gone through the same things. If anyone does go through with this, good luck. There are many online petition sites you could go to for such a thing. I think CN would be far more likely to pay attention to that than a thread as well.
10. Favorite shows... The Simpsons - The last few seasons have been trash for the most part. I really wish they'd pull the plug and let me keep my memories. The first several seasons are still total classics. Futurama - Probably my current favorite animated show. It's not as witty, nor does it have as many underlying things to it... But it's right out funny. I really wish Fox advertised it like they should have. It seems as though there are only commercials for Futurama during its own commercial breaks. Thank god for CN. King of the Hill - I don't care what people say. This is a damn good show. It's been getting more goofy lately, but for a while the Hills were probably the most realistic family on TV. How sad. Seinfeld - Best live action comedy ever. I think George is my idol. I'll never get how him or Jerry get so many good looking women though. That's TV for you. That 70s Show - The strangest thing about this is that my parents love it. I guess it makes sense considering they were about that age back in the year the show takes place... Funny that we can both relate to it. It's probably why it seems to be so popular. I love the characters as well. I also like some random cartoons. Not going to mention them here. I've honestly watched very little TV in about four weeks (other than last Sunday on Fox for the cartoons). I'm losing interest in it.
11. I always figured the reasoning was to get Nintendo fans used to Sonic and ready for the next Sonic. I believe it's already been stated that the next game in the series will not have Adventure in the title... could mean some big changes. Then again... maybe not. I preferred the original only because the first few levels as Sonic really seemed to be going in the right direction. They seemed like Sonic in 3D. Of course, Knuckles, Big and Amy killed this (I liked the Robot levels). The lame "adventure" didn't exactly help either. Sonic Adventure 2 was decent. Still a rather big letdown, as even more of the levels sucked badly. Still... The games aren't that bad, and I'm sure they'll interest a good deal of people. SAB2 sold like crazy.
12. Lady K - Kuno rocks! +_+ amiboshi - What in the world is Mediaplay? Anyway, yeah that was my basic point. $16 might not be bad considering the size compared to $3.99 comics... But I finish 200 page manga within an hour at most. It's hard to justify paying all that money. I wish there was a discount manga store... hehe.
13. MS hasn't bought Sega out... Sega itself is made up of many different teams. Sonic Team, AM2, Amusement Vision, Hitmaker, Smilebit and so on. They're all basically allowed to do pretty much whatever it is they want. Some of the teams focus on one system more than another. Sonic Team kind of leans towards GameCube (except for PSO and so on), Smilebit to Xbox, AM2 is somewhat equal if you count everything (stuff still in development). Really, GC and Xbox have an about equal amount of games from Sega. There are rumors of the next (new) Sonic game going multiplatform, but to two systems... not all three. GC is always one in the rumor, and the other system changes. We'll see what happens... But it'd be pretty odd to put basically every Sonic game so far on GC and not put the new on it as well.
14. I'm willing to check them out... Although Limp Bizkit meets Linkin Park sounds like the worst combination ever and would result in something I'd absolutely loathe (I hate both of those bands). What songs do you recommend? I'm guessing the singles aren't the best to get if you really want to see what the band can do. Other than "The Fake Sound of Progress" anyway lol.
15. Wolverine really does nothing for me. He reminds me of a cowboy or something. Cyclops is too much of an elitist jerk to be my favorite... I don't know. Probably Psylocke. Last I heard, Marvel might remove her from the comics. Who really knows. Edit - Spelled elitist wrong :D
16. I saw these the other day... However, I've yet to see anywhere that claimed Sega announced any features of this game. A better Chao system and maybe some bug fixes (especially camera tweaking) is somewhat expected, but I'm not really believing this two new character thing at all. Especially considering the Japanese site (http://www.sega.jp/ngc/sonicdx/) says there are 6 to choose from. That's the same as the original. The only thing the Japanese site mentions (which still has the most info on it) is that the characters will be upgraded and that their expressions will be more prominant (whatever that means, could just mean better graphics). Judging from these screens, the character models do seem somewhat improved (maybe, lol).
17. My only problem with graphic novels are the prices. I know in the long run it's cheaper than buying 20 smaller issues... But paying up to $40 (in some cases, although they seem to average $16 to $25) is just too much. I simply can't afford to buy as many as I'd like. At least Lone Wolf and Cub is only $10 a book. Where do you guys get yours at? It seems like a lot of the Borders and Barnes and Nobles around here are really cutting back on the amount of manga they carry... Some seemed to have stopped completely.
18. Graphic novels are more or less just really big comics. Some only come out in novel form, while some originally come out in the smaller issues and then are put into graphic novels later on as compilations. Same thing with manga really.
19. I think most anyone into anime has read one at some point. I'm not super into anime, although I like it. I much prefer manga (and American graphic novels as well). Mostly anything by Masamune Shirow... Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed, etc. I also have a good deal of Ranma 1/2 novels and smaller issues. American wise... Mostly stuff by Frank Miller (Ronin in particular). That and Grendel Tales (which is excellent). Death and Preacher are also quite good.
20. (Feel free to change what my effects do, I don't mind either way. Nothing really came to mind heh) Name: Semjaza Azazel Magic type: Light Type: Elemental Pic: See attachment below Effect 1: Manifest - Calls forth lesser elementals. Effect 2: Book of Sorrows - Opponent must put a card into their graveyard (discard, whatever), randomly chosen by the caster. Description: Eh. lol
21. Yeah, I talked to James and I got a shorter version of the above response. I like this skin, but I preferred the other (and was used to it). The whole monochrome idea this skin uses kind of throws me off, and I have a hard time distinguishing between new and old things. I'm sure I'll be fine in time heh.
22. If so many of you people dislike basic radio stations... There are quite a few college stations where students play whatever they want. Quite a bit of punk is played, sometimes death metal. You never know really. I recommend people look into it.
23. I think most people at first just assumed the game turned into Pikmin honestly. It was basically just forgotten about, until Miyamoto mentioned it still being in development (along with a few other forgotten games) a few weeks back. I'm not sure what it will be. Whether or not it really has anything to do with the demo, I have no idea. They could have just taken the name and applied it to a normal Mario sequel for all I know. Hopefully we'll see something at E3 about it.

Renaming?

I remember playing FF6 over one time, and I renamed everyone in it after people I knew. It was probably the most confusing experience I've ever had in an RPG. I had no idea what was going on, mostly because I was so used to the default names. It also can make talking to others about the game kind of difficult, as you might accidently say what you named them instead of the defaults.
25. Semjaza's General Warning: This is, surprisingly, my first actual thread in Otaku Lounge ever, so let's try and make this something good. The thead is a collaboration of ideas and writing between me and CWB to try and get some good discussion... hopefully. If there are a substantial amount of posts that are very self-serving, overly self-loathing (I'm sure there will be some, as life is like that at points, but no notably suicidal crap -- so please avoid it) or anything of that sort, I will delete this thread without hesitation. I think we see enough of that in some of the other threads here. If that's all you can come up with please post your drama elsewhere, as that's not the point of this thread. Rather detailed responses would be nice, but I don't expect you all to write as much as I do (aka probably way too much) in most threads heh. ------------------------------------------------- Okay here it is... The question "Who are you?" should be easy to answer. After all, we know every one of our own intricate personal secrets, fears and dreams. Or do we? Interestingly enough, we sometimes shield these details from ourselves as well as we do from others. If I ask you who you are, it might be more difficult to answer than you think, because people in general don't know themselves quite as well as they think they do. People might identify themselves by music, clothing, friends, heritage, etc. but it's difficult to say who you really are, what you're going to do, how you're going to do it, why, and what you've already accomplished. Keeping all that in mind as you answer this, who are you in your own mind? How do others see you (or at least how do you think, and why)? And how would you rather people saw you? -- Again thanks to CWB in gathering the ideas, and writing a good portion of it, with me :).
