I've never ever been in a situation where I've ever had to say any of your names outloud. So I've never really thought about it. I kind of sound them out in my head, but so many names here are not exactly natural for me to pronounce. Most of the time I kind of just read the first few letters or section of someone's name, and that's how I tell who wrote what. Some of the stuff you guys are coming up with for my name are harder to pronounce than the original haha.

Gaming What games have actually surprised you? (either fell short or surpassed)
Semjaza replied to severous84's topic in Noosphere
I'm generally not surprised by how good a game is. I'm more often just disappointed. Probably the biggest disappointment I can think of was SaGa Frontier. Up until PSX, I was a pretty big Square fan. I owned most of what they put out on NES (even Rad Racer and that weird shooting knight game) and SNES (other than Mystic Quest). I was not overly fond of FFVII, but it was decent. I went to the store to get Breath of Fire III (I think it was new at the time), but they didn't have any copies. I grabbed SaGa Frontier instead, thinking that Square games are never that bad. God, was I wrong. SaGa Frontier is one of the worst RPGs I've ever had the misfortune of playing. The graphics are decent overall... Although the backgrounds in the fighting scenes suck horribly. The sound is quality in format, but has very uninteresting composistions. The characters are not interesting for the most part, there is little if any story (or even character interaction). The level up system, while kind of a good idea, was added in rather poorly with little explanation of how it worked. The areas were completely maze like, with little indication of what to do next. Those are just off the top of my head. The game is tedious and just not fun. Square also promised that each character's story would take around 10 to 30 hours. It's more like 2 to 3. -
I kind of always just assumed Mnemolth was from Hellblazer, but it's spelled without the L in there heh (I believe he is some sort of demon in it). It's the only simliar name I can even think of seeing.

Professionals who study music have gone and played those records backwards and found that there was no such thing in any of them. A long while back Ozzy (and I think Kiss) were taken to court over such things, and an audio designers testimony on that held up in court. The fact is, when people tell you what to listen for... you're brain is going to try to pick it out. There are of course songs that do it totally on purpose though. I know Manson has done it several times, and I'm sure there are countless others. Most of what is backmasked in his songs is nothing Satanic or strange... It's usually just parts of the chorus.

Have you ever been touched by a child's smile?
Semjaza replied to Rhys Mayiessen's topic in General Discussion
I've had this happen a lot to me. Mostly at stores, because that's generally where you see little kids walking around with their parents in a bored mood heh. I've had a few kids stop screaming or crying when they saw me too, which is always a really weird feeling (especially when their parents comment on it). I get along really well with kids in general (the ones people seem to have lots of problems with seem to take to me especially lol). I love babies mostly though. My mom babysits this 4 month old baby named Joey, and everyone claims he loves me. I don't really see him acting any different towards me than anyone else, but yeah heh. -
Gaming has anyone noticed that the GBA died out?
Semjaza replied to stratigyless's topic in Noosphere
Hmm. Two months? GBA is just about as popular now as when it came out. The hardware sales numbers are incredibly high. With stuff like Zelda, Kirby and Yoshi's Island coming out in recent months (that's just from Nintendo itself... I could list many more), I don't know how anyone can complain. I kind of expect handheld games to be shorter. I don't have the chance to play a 40 hour RPG on a portable system. I'm happy with my GBA, and I'd probably consider it the best system out right now. Exciting depends on the person I guess, and what games it is you are playing. -
I'm sick nearly all the time. Not deathly, but I usually have some sort of headache or something. I'm not one to go to the doctor, and I won't take medicine unless forced... So there isn't much left to do heh.

I have an almost launch PS2, and I've yet to have a single problem with it... What do you guys do to your systems? lol
-
I like the music, but it doesn't compare to JGR/JSR's tracks. Overall, I was disappointed with the entire game though. A custom soundtrack would have been perfect.
-
Well first of all... Make sure the disc is clean. That's the number one problem. The other thing would be to try cleaning the PS2 lens... They sell cleaner discs for that. Otherwise, in the PS2 menus, you can select diagnostic mode. It forces the PS2 to run between CDs or DVDs manually (or something like that), and does actually fix problems every once in a while. Other than that... dunno.

Are we speaking of the same game? Everything about Yoshi's Island in my opinion kicks ***. I suppose the music might be cute, but it's hardly a radical departure from other Mario games. It's also in line with the whole coloring book theme the game has. It's still my favorite Super Mario game.

without the spaces. Not to sound rude or condeming or anything, but I've found that most members that correct other members tend to be a lot more harsh than most of the mods here ever are. It's not something that happens that often though.

I've only had one cavity in my entire life... So going to the dentist has never really been a bad experience. I've still yet to have my wisdom teeth come in.

http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17157 I'd assume this is it. I can't expect you to post in that thread, since it was a few pages back... But that's all about an anime cable station. Otherwise, Tech TV is showing anime as well. The thread is at http://www.otakuboards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=27

I wasn't there... But I'm sure it wasn't any hardcore fans. Most likely just some random idiots. It happens at a lot of theaters around here.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,74482,00.html The parents of the supposed clone won't even allow for DNA tests anyway. Apparently it's against their moral fiber or some such crap. Strange that they would let the kid be cloned in the first place, but not let anyone test the DNA. Obviously, it isn't true.

Gaming-Age was originally on EZBoard and they basically blocked anyone they wanted to out. You had to apply and wait for them to say yes or no. Right now they are on vB, and pretty much everyone was let in. It lead to a lot more idiocy than usual, but most of those people are gone already. The mods have been really quick about banning and closing things lately. I don't know the average posts... But SolidSnakex had well over 10,000 posts on the old board. He pretty much has disappeared. The board just moves so fast that you wind up posting a lot or not at all. I had something like 200 posts there in the first 2 days.

I know they aren't gay. I've read the books years ago and am familiar with when they are written. It doesn't prevent them from altering that slightly from the book though, especially given some of the other things they have changed. However, when you go see a movie in this day... It's rather hard to not think of such things given all the other things you see in other films. I know I'm not alone in thinking that scene was really awkward, and I've heard of people shouting out about it in the theater even. Even in the books, yeah they were best friends... But it was genererally worded in a way that I wouldn't think anything stange about it. Especially since I could control their facial expressions and tones because when reading I'm basically the one in charge. Movies basically overtake that lol.
Originally posted by Desbreko There are already little mini-games... Break the Targets, Board the Platforms, Race to the Finish, that sort of thing... I really liked some of those, especially some of the Break the Targets ones. And it's neat how each character has their own level for those ones, too, designed to require skill with that particular character's moves.
That's all well and good, but none of those are worked into the multiplayer game whatsoever. If you've played SF2, you can do those minigames with two players after a while. That's how I'd like them worked in. Nintendo has so many of their own characters that should be worked in. This is about classic Nintendo characters, not classic videogame characters. I personally would rather it stayed that way. There are still some great Earthbound characters they could work in; Pit from Kid Icarus; Ganondorf from Zelda... I'd even really like to play as Toad/Kinopio if I could.

I get confused typing the azazaz part even... lol. And I write the name like everyday when I sign onto things. Oh well. It's easier to just read it as Semjaza I think.

Videos are something I'll never understand. I don't watch MTV very much, as they play little that interests me... But late at night this one local channel here becomes MTV2 and I wind up seeing a bunch of rap videos because I leave the TV on even when I'm not paying attention to it. With some notable exceptions (I remember some good Wutang videos from years past, and some Eminem ones), it seems that nearly every rap video features the same things. It's generally the main guy rapping, and for some reason he is surrounded by a crowd of people while the camera circles everyone as if it was stuck on the ground. Everyone throws signs at it or makes weird faces, and all the girls just grind around on the rapper. It's either that or he is around the pool of his mansion talking about the girls that are dancing all around him for no apparent reason and all his money and cars. I really do not understand rap videos at all lol... Not that most music videos are anything special as it is, but quite a few of them are very well done (Prodigy, Aphex Twin, Marilyn Manson, NIN and Tool all come to mind).

There were a few things I thought were really weird in the movie. I went to see it the other day... Anyway, the main thing is the way Sam talks to Frodo. Sometimes it seems like there is sexual tension between them... They really look at eachother very strangely (yes I know this is supposed to signify their very deep friendship, but it's really odd). The whole seen where Samwise was like "Don't you recognize your Sam?" just seemed so strange to me. Otherwise I liked it... Not as much as the first, but it was well done. My favorite part is when Treebeard and the other Ents storm Isuldur (or whatever the spelling is).

I think Genkai used to have an avatar of Heffer the cow from Rocco's Modern Life. I think of that Heffer picture everytime I see his name...lol. Other than that no... But pretty much everyone seems to make fun of my name.

Rap has just become too commercialized. DMX probably was in line to be something much bigger than he is, but he wound up becoming generic like everyone else. It seems like most simplify what they do in order for it to sell a little better. In the meantime, acts that pioneered the genre (or at least really pushed it into it's current form) are falling to wayside and are just simply nearly forgotten. It doesn't seem like any current rappers have any respect or mention any influences they have gotten from those before them. That's probably the biggest way in which rap differs from most other currently popular music. Of course, there are still the smaller groups and rappers that still have to fight to get anywhere... Which basically means they are still true to what rap should be in the first place (at least in my mind), which is more or less real world things these guys deal with. And of course they have to do it well in order to survive against all the other ones that somehow appeal to the general audience. I don't know how anyone could want to listen to a song about how many sluts, cars and gold chains some guy has. I'm personally not into rap, and I don't really like sitting and listening to it either... But I do see why others could like it, and I recognize the hard work that some of people put into it. I respect it for that reason, my personal opinions of the sound don't count in terms of that. I do listen to things which sometimes have a hiphop sound to them, but that's about it.
