Well, I am checking them out now. Would have earlier if I didn't go to bed so late. I'm not usually into j-rock, but it's worth a shot. Anyway Happy Birthday to him, it must have been quite a loss for that music community.

I do every year with my parents... I usually pick it out and my mom gives me the money. This year I got a bunch of strange stuff... A bunch of games from Japan and lots of Apocalypse Hoboken CDs and Vinyls.

There weren't fake per se (well not in the usual sense)... They were mockups IGNCube made based on their original news of Link being in the game several months ago. Namco denies the rumor up and down though, so who knows what will happen. I'm rather annoyed that GC won't get Spawn though. Assuming this is true.

Nintendo mails back and either gives a form letter or some sort of answer, if they are allowed to. Like I said, last I heard the official date is February 16th.

One of the new characters. Apparently her name is Pain. I have no idea what her role in the game is though.

I don't drink and never plan to, but most of my family and friends do (among other far worse things). However, I've rarely known any of them to do something that they would never do if they were sober outside of some insults they don't really mean, all of which are kind of jokes as it is. I guess rarely is subjective though, because a few times out of the hundreds of times they drink a year is kind of rare I'd say heh. We have pretty big parties at my house every few weeks, and I'm usually around for them.... And I really cannot think of anything bad that's ever happened by comparison. I had to throw out at least 200 empty beer bottles this weekend (and there was only like 15 people here for that party, it was just a small b-day thing). I'm sure that people around our age are far more likely to do something they shouldn't (or at least normally would stop themsevles from doing), mostly because they tend to over do things in general. Every friend I've had that had gotten so wasted that they couldn't really control themselves or remember what happened has basically cut back enough so they don't get that drunk heh.

IGNCube gave it a high 8. The game itself sounded promising, but with the mixed review so far, I'm not sure what to expect. My one friend rented it, but all he commented on was the fact that the graphics weren't as good as he expected. Nothing about the game.

I've not heard complains of lag from anyone that plays... in normal situations I have, however, read complaints of people playing games with specific modems (DSL, Cable, whatever) and not being able to get certain games to run correctly on them, if at all. Ghost Recon seems to be the biggest problem with that, and the developer/publisher has zero plans on EVER releasing a patch to fix it. They know it's a problem, apparently they don't care.

I don't think this Nintendo quality rules thing is much of a point anymore. They tried to stress it with the N64 at first, but we all know how that turned out. A good deal of the games released 3rd party wise were awful. Quality was just an excuse to make up for the lack of quantity in the end. Nintendo itself doesn't try to stop many companies from making games anymore. They don't even worry about censoring games now that the rating system is standard. In fact, more companies complain about Sony censoring than Nintendo now, but that's kind of a small part of it. The fact of the matter is that many 3rd parties see GC as a kids system, and design with that in mind. Which will lead to some companies making no games at all. I'm sure there is stuff Nintendo has blocked from being sealed with their stamp, but there is a LOT of crap on GC as well. That being said, it still is my favorite system. I'm happy with the Nintendo published games alone. I also think GC has the potential to have the best overall 2003 lineup, assuming things come out on time and promises are lived up to. PS2 probably has more games I like, but at the same time I don't like any of them as much as I like a select few GC titles. I keep going back to them. I have an Xbox, but I'm not a big fan. Halo just doesn't impress me, and the game I bought the syst0em for (JSRF) was really disappointing for me comoared to JGR. I prefer my GBA to it personally, if that can be included in this.

I got to watch it a day or two ago, and I wasn't impressed. However, this opinion is rather biased because I really do not like Pierce Brosnan on Bond at all. I don't think he is charming whatsoever, I prefered him in Remington Steele. I basicallly decided this wasn't worth my time when I say a commercial where Halle goes "your mama." Who the hell says that anymore? It feels like a forced in stereotypical black phrase that was added in by a panel of 50 year old white guys who thought it would sound cool. My opinion of course. I'm not really big on them ditching the risque girl names and trying to make the movie more PG than it is. Wasn't this whole equality idea done in that one Bond movie with the one asian actress as the girl? I forget her name, but it's simliar. The action and stuff was good as always, but it just feels off to me with Pierce... And I'm not like a huge Moore or Connery fan or anything either.

My slogan is: Lady K all the way! It's rhymes, so I like it.

You might want to watch out. Nintendo doesn't really want preorders to start til the official date, which is February 16th as of right now. They made EBgames.com pull down the information about the bonus games soon after it was posted. I'm personally going to wait til I know exactly what is up, although I'd have to assume reserving this early will get you a copy no matter than the hell happened lol

The idea of the video game was basically invented by this guy named Ralph Baer... But he was not allowed to create it since his boss didn't agree with the idea. Pretty stupid boss. This was in 1951. The first actual visual computer/video game that was known to exist was a version of Tic Tac Toe created by guy for his thesis on his computer major at Cambridge. I think this was a little over a year after Ralph Baer's idea. I don't remember this guy's name though. Baer wound up making some simple video games in the 60s, and came up with some target games and a game simliar to Pong. I'm sure most people would think the answer to this would be Pong, which isn't the case. That didn't come out til the 70s... It was howerver the first readily available commercial video game system that I know of. I think it sold for nearly $200 back then heh.

I was about to post something to this effect, but you beat me to it. Well said. I find Tech TV's argument to be really shortsighted.

What part of it are you asking about? It's generally assumed that "rosy' refers to people red markings that would appear on the faces of people who had gotten the plague. The "posies" were flowers or other good smelling things that people held in front of their face within tissues to avoid the smell and infection (usually nobility). I figure if you go with this idea for the rest of the song, t it had to to with the cremation of the plague victims and such. However, this really doesn't make any sense if you read stuff the history on the subject says. The plague was like in the 1300's, and the earliest version of this song is from sometime in the 1700's, and the original version of the poem/song was almost radically different from the current version. I tend to think people kind of made of that meaning sometime rather recently, considering the actual facts that are around.
-
Well I won't claim to know... Hopefully, I won't be totally wrong and look too stupid heh. But if you keep dividing a number by 2 (or whatever other normal number), you're never going to wind up with zero (unless the original number was zero). So how would that ever work? There would always be a remainder of some sort, which in terms of this problem would still be an amount of distance.
-
Well I admt I never go in the writing forum, mostly because I suck at writing. But anyway.... I think this relates to the series forums in a way. Mario and GTA3 were given their own forums. It takes away a lot of discussion form the original ones (Nintendo and Sony respectively), and the other two forums can't really flurish due to their nature and subjects. I'd expect the same thing to happen in this case, but who really knows,
-
How can anyone know? It's not out anywhere yet. Only a select few jouranlists and such have played it within Nintendo headquarters. This is also from Nintendo, they wouldn't make something that could break your system.

I thought the boss fights in OoT were extremely easy compared to the Zelda games before it... I always thought the point of those stronger swords was mostly so you could kill the basic enemies quickly, because after a while it gets annoying having to kill all sorts of basic enemies on your way to some place. At least to me... lol.
Originally posted by The Harlequin Semjaza (so I can steal all the Tea Party albums)
I usually avoid these types of threads so far (or at least I never post any names, I'd think people would know I appreciated them based on how well I get along with them), but that's pretty funny heh. Are they honestly that hard to get by you? Anyway, there are a lot of people here I wouldn't mind meeting. A good deal of all of you actually. The only ones I'm going to list are people I actually talk to on things other than these boards though heh (quite often, not just every once in a while). So don't give me any of that "what about me?" stuff :D. These are in no particular order. James - I met James because of some awful Xbox site he worked at through some mail I sent the site (really stupid news coverage reasons, not his fault heh). I wound up talking to him more often, and I came here under another name. I returned maybe a year later. He's been a really good friend to me on here, and I enjoy working on things with him (even if it takes us forever to finsh them lol). CWB - We had a run in on the old name I mentioned. Turns out it was all just a joke, and it's pretty funny to look back on. Good to talk to; and at the very least, he makes some funny pictures... and all that cat stuff. Lady K - We don't get to talk to much since she only goes on at work and school. She's good to talk to though, and incredibly nice. Looking forward to when she can actually post again and has her own computer heh. Break - Just crazy. Also, his B+M comics kick ***. Good to talk to. I found it pretty amusing that he thought I had no actual feelings since I rarely talk about them heh. Babygirl - I originally PMed her for help with my digital camera, but we wound up talking more often than I expected. Very good to talk to about practically anything and she has lots of good stories. I know she feels that she complains to me far too much, but I don't really think so. Plus she has a cat. Desbreko - Sometimes it amazes me how much this guy can remember about things. I wish I had his memory heh. Also good to talk to, and a very hard worker (Shine Get comes to mind). Piro - We don't really talk all that much, but sometimes it is strange how much we act or think alike in certain situations. He has good taste in music as well heh. Shyguy - I'm pretty sure he thinks he is bothering me or boring me sometimes, but that's far from the truth. I remember I first met him by sending him some wallpaper I made (OS? I don't remember that much lol), but I have no idea why we wound up talking more. He has a lot of interesting thoughts on things, despite him thinking I (and I assume other people) don't really understand them lol. If I forgot you, and you feel you should be on this list...Feel free to hit me. I meet people pretty slowly on here, mostly because I'm not one to IM someone I don't know well lol. At the very least, I'd like these people to know I appreciate them.

Japan's Famitsu gave Zelda four 10s, which has made it only the fourth game in the magazine's history to get that high of a score (Soul Calibur, OoT and Vagrant Story are the other three). Ikichii from IGNboards posted this translation, it's going to sound funny either way though heh: Grade: 10 "A level of astoundment that exceeds even that exhibited by the previous "Ocarina". Despite being a completely new and ground-breaking work, it's amazing how this title managed to retain everything that defines 'Zelda' to begin with. If you're looking for a new plane of visual expression in games, one different from both photorealistic and anime styles, it can be found right here. Also features a unprecedented depth of story and adventure within the series that takes place across an ocean. To sum up: this title is 100% zelda, and is an absolutely must-play title." Grade: 10 "Utilizing tone rendering as a catalyst of visual expression of sorts and combining it with the highest quality gameplay, game environments and production values, a a miraculous chemical reaction is created with this incredible title. It makes you realize once again that video games truly are the most superior form of entertainment out there. Whatever you do in within the game, it doesn't fail to entertain you in some way. Trust me when I say you won't fail to fall in the love with the world presented within this title." Grade: 10 "Any pangs of anxiety you might have in regards to the anime-like presentation of this game will vanish once you play this title, which will leave no doubts in your mind that this is truly Zelda. The emotions of the various characters come across with an unbelievable level of realism due through eye-based movements/expressions, and there are times when you'll find yourself extremely affected and even on the verge of tears. With a perfect level of difficulty in regards to both the puzzles and battles, this title rewards you immensely for playing it!" Grade: 10 "Whether it be the in-game events, puzzles, or presentation, you'll find yourself experiencing a range of human emotions from puzzlement to amazement. Everytime you pick up this title to proceed onwards in your quest, you'll discover an increased level of excitement. I swear to god I felt like a excited child picking up a videogame for the first time when I played this title. The new setup that allows even those who have never experienced the series to immediately feel right at home gets a huge thumbs up from me."
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy When I came back, it was in an effort to defend the mighty :sniggers: X-box. It seemed like a cool challenge, but it didn't go so well. It did mark my first run-in with Semjaza though, in which I swiftly throttled him. Well, not really, lol.
Throttled? I've never heard that word used that way. Man that was a long time ago, I even had a different name... Memories

Anime isn't confined by any certain rules. American's taking on Japanese styles shouldn't be governed by any rules either. There's a difference between influence and right out copying, and all that has been mentioned so far are adaptations and influences in my mind. There are Japanese studios that create stuff based on western comics and animation as well... Astro Boy, probably the first real anime, was influenced by Disney animation a great deal. So obviously the same would happen in terms of anime being a factor on designs here. If any person here was able to make their own popular cartoon or comic, I guarantee you it would have a really high chance of being in some anime style. It's the same with shows like Powerpuff Girls. The writers and such are fans, and this might be their tribute or a way to poke fun at something like that. That's how I see it anyway. There are tons and tons of anime based on US ideas, cities ahd characters and they don't get everything right either. Some Japanese artists draw in a generally western style as well if you look around. I don't know why there should be a double standard. I think a hybrid style would actually be pretty cool.

Have you not seen any videos of it Ginny? It is a little odd at first, but the animation and facial expressions are wonderful haha. Anyway... I came in here wanting to say something and I forgot what the heck it was. Wait, nevermind heh. Zelda comes out in like 3 days in Japan. Meaning there is probably going to be a massive amount of screens, impressions, previews and movies all over the place. I've basically decided that I'm going on media blackout. I've seen enough of this game and I don't want to ruin any more of it for myself. I'll probanly stop posting new stuff in this thread.

Hehe... no. Not true at all. Sony is selling games and consoles at a rate that kills Xbox and GC. They are first this generation worldwide, and with the massive lead they have right now... No one is going to catch up. Just last week they sold 100,000 PS2s in the UK alone. PS2 could possibly sell more than any other console so far. Nearly every game could be better. I myself try not to dwell on what games could be, but rather just deal with what they are. If they are fun, they're fun. If not, it wouldn't matter how long, short or pretty they were.
