Something to this effect has bothered me for quite a while as well. I tend to be overly generous with people... It might not be as obvious to people who just know me by my posts, but I'm sure a few people here realize it from things I've told them. It generally is my fault, because I do offer to do things the first few times... But generally it gets taken advantage of (not online so far, other than by a couple specific people... They know I dislike them by now I'd hope heh. Mostly in real life). It just seems that if people get used to you helping them out, they come to expect it as your normal attitude. sooner or later, they start asking more often or for bigger things. Around this time though, I'd have to say enough is enough. I had to deal with that, and at times it was really hard sorting through who was taking advantage and actual friends who were just accepting your generousity. I've found that people that take advantage tend to get upset the first time you start right out refusing to help them out though heh. Being nice has it's upsides I suppose, but like I said... People wil start expecting you to act like this all the time, and if for some reason you don't it becomes some sort of problem. Happens with work as well.... Anyway, I'm rambling and who knows if that helped whatsoever. I don't know you super well, but you've always come off very nice and interesting in your own ways hehe. From what I can tell, a lot of people go through stuff like this. I figure sooner or later you have to figure out who your real friends are.

I've not seen it... And originally I had no interest in seeing it. I love animated films, but the last thing I wanted to watch was a movie about talking horses. Then I found out that the horses don't speak at all in this movie, so now I have interest in it again lol. It's a nice change of pace. I wish Disney did that with Dinosaur... Oh welll.

If you are in the US, don't even bother looking for an actual cart of Terranigma. It never came out here for some stupid reason.

Well I wouldn't trust sound from IGN videos as it was. They are severely compressed in order for them to keep down on file size. It doesn't sound amazing, but it's not as grating as on the IGN videos in my opinion.

Wait... Are you just going by what I told you when I played the game before it released? It doesn't sound as though you've played the game yet. The voices aren't really annoying, and are less frequent than the GBA Super Mario ports. Nothing to be worried about. According to my friend, some of the music is different as well. But I've not paid attention enough from the little I've played.

I'm not an otaku and I never plan to be an otaku. I've been watching random anime since I was about six, and I know a decent amount about it... But there are many things I prefer to it. In the end, I'm mostly here because it's something to do on the otherwise boring interweb. I've grown to like most of the people here as well, so it makes it worth sticking around.

I cannot do this... It's impossible. I've gone as far as saying MP is the best game I've ever played. I really think it is, especially considering gaming as a whole hasn't interested me as much as it used to... That's why I find myself playing obscure "non-popular" games moreso than the main ones... I get enough about that from certain people here though. Metroid Prime is a big exception though, because for me it lived up to everything I hoped it would. It also helps that Metroid is probably my favorite Nintendo series (Earthbound is my favorite Nintendo game ever, but it's not really a series just yet). Otherwise, I've always loved Clash at Demonhead on the NES. No one really has played this game, but I'm not going to go on and on about why I love it heh.
-
Strange to hear that... Most of the time I mention Ranma 1/2 I get a blank look from most people. Even online there doesn't seem to be as much of a fanbase for it compared to other anime I'd personally not watch. Oh well.

Cloricus - It depends on the school... I think a lot of schools have a bit of a buffer where they can make up for missed snow days. Although, I remember back in gradeschool we had a couple snow days, and wound up losing a random school holiday because of it. Wasn't very happy heh. They do that with strikes here in Chicago as well. I was in a Catholic school at the time (bleh), so it didn't affect me... But my old public gradeschool's teachers went on strike for a few weeks. All the kids didn't wind up getting out of school until a few weeks later than normal. Sometime just before July... which is rather late around here. We usually get out late May or early June.

My brothers are getting GBAs for Christmas... So at the least I can play with them. That makes a whole four people I know with a GBA. There are some tiny additions to LttP... The only big one is the addition of voices. Link grunts and stuff, and according to my friend, Zelda says something somewhere near the beginning. I'll have to see for myself though.

Well if I like a song, generally I don't think it's crappy... I know other people dislike a lot of what I listen to, but that's another story. But going along with the ideas here, I don't like any of these groups at all heh. I don't really listen to the radio at all, so I don't really have any weird songs in my head that I could name here... Edit - Actually... A bunch of stupid TV themes. Sanford and Son, The Facts of Life, The Jeffersons, and so on. I know these songs and have never seen a full episode of any of them.

The game is like two hours if you blast through it and know exactly what to do. I'd say 4 to 7 hours for a normal person who's not played it before. It's just as short as the older Metroid games.

Gaming I think that Retro Studios is the best company that GC ever worked with
Semjaza replied to SS5 Gogeta's topic in Noosphere
Well Retro had never made anything before Metroid Prime. They were started by Jeff Spangenburg (forget how to spell it, I think he was from Acclaim), as a Nintendo second party. Meaning Nintendo owned part of them, and funded them. No one really knew what to expect, but then all these rumors of problems within the company started coming out... They had a few games going, three of which people have seen some of - a football game, Raven Blade and a car combar game (Thunder Rally is the supposed name). They all wound up being cancelled because of all the problems, most of which seem to have stemmed from Jeff. All those games were put on hold (or just cancelled, no one knows really), and Nintendo gave them Metroid because Miyamoto felt they could do a good job with it. The team at that point was made up of a LOT of FPS veterans from Valve, Iguana and such. Zoid being the most well known, as he did a lot of work with id. Anyway, Nintendo was impressed with Retro... They wound up buying out Jeff for a tiny one million dollars (by comparison Rare was sold for like over $300 million). And now you see the end result. A lot of people claim it's only this good because Nintendo helped them, but Nintendo couldn't do everything. The art and design mostly seems to have orginated from Retro based on the concept art I've seen. It just seems like Nintendo itself kind of guided them through what they thought the best ideas were (and did the music). So they are a first party, since Nintendo owns the company completely. There will be no Spy Hunter games, mostly because that isn't a Nintendo license. I'd like to see what else they can do though... I'm hoping for a standard FPS, which I know they could do an amazing job on. -
It's been so long since I saw this movie. I remember liking it quite a bit, even though I was a little put off by the love between the young girl vampire and the other one (Yes, obviously her personality and such has matured, but it's still a weird visual). Anyway, all I really have to say is don't bother with the "sequel" Queen of the Damned... One of the worst vampire movies I've seen.

Nah, it's $50 US. I'm not sure what that is Australian heh. Regardless, it's the cost of one game... and you get a headset and some startup discs with it lol. As for that console hacking whatever thing I said that you quoted... I kind of meant in more in the way that very few people actually create mods and hack from scratch, compared to people who simply buy mods (a good deal of which do not install them themsevles). I guess most everything is like that though lol.

Last I heard that Pinta VMU thing was simply being removed... Which is odd, considering you could use a GBA cable for something simliar. They could have changed their minds by now though. I remember hearing something different about Cupil, but I don't remember anymore.
Also if what you say is true, that you have to pay to use live then you are very naive to think they will not let illegal versions and MOD chips on. (Maybe not so on the illegal version but on mod chips yeah.) Reason, these people have illegal versions and MS makes nothing from illegal versions but if they pay to use live MS gets some thing back.
First of all, this is what I was addressing, and how I am naive to think other wise... When MS is actually doing what you said they wouldn't be. To make it seem as if MS simply doesn't care because they are getting a entire 50 dollars a year off of this? That makes it okay for them not to get any profit off the games at all? You skipped over that entire aspect of my argument, which was the basis of most of it and what all I wrote was addressing in the first place. Money. On top of that my first sentence says that I know any system can be hacked... Yet no one had really given one good reason why adding a modchip to a damn Xbox means that Live suddenly is overrun with hacked and cheated games. May I please have an example of that? That is not how it works. People have to do a hell of a lot more than just that. I'm sure people will find a way to bypass MS's securities... But there is nothing stopping them from making more securities, just like I said. MS is losing so much money on Xbox that I doubt they'll sit idley by as every idiot tries to play games for free. DC wasn't anything special, and other than people hacking PSO files (and I already mentioned how they did that in the last post), no one was tricking the Sega servers into letting them play pay games for free. Most people can't even figure out how to get Juno to work on the thing, and that's not even hard. And since I know nothing about mod chips (I mentioned them in one simple paragraph in my last post, so who knows how you came to this conclusion -- there was no reason to say more than what was said), please educate me in the millions of ways people are using them right now to hack every last aspect of the Xbox that would lead them to be able to play Live for free. Even if they could suddenly play copies online (which they cannot right now, and it's not likely MS will never update to lock out other mod chips), that has little to do with "hacking" Live, as it is within your own console. Like I said, simple hacking of a single console is completely different than what some people are suggesting. There is also a WAY bigger PC hacking community than console one... Most people in the console community don't actually do anything, they just copy the few people that do. Sure, the developers of the chips would have to figure out how to bypass a few things, but the average enduser wouldn't know what the hell they were. Linux has little to do with it either... Yeah, someone can run Linux on an Xbox. They've been doing it for a while. That certian Xbox running Linux has nothing to do with MS''s core servers though. What would waiting for a way to run Live on that do? Especially considering that Xbox games cannot even be run within the Linux environment to this point. What you are suggesting now doesn't even exist for the system. There isn't a mod chip that is completely unknown to MS obviously. There are no "stealth" ones such as there were available on other systems... and if there were, they don't work right now considering MS can detect them so easily. And like before, if someone does make another mod chip... It won't take MS long to find out thanks to the countless sites on the subject (at the very least), and suddenly they can block that one as well. Hell, people still haven't made a PS2 mod that doesn't require disc swappingwithin a dew second time frame. Considering they are banning entire serial numbers with this... It's going to take people a hell of a lot more money and patience than is worth it. That's what it comes down to.... Of course it can be done eventually, but why the hell does it matter if it's going to take past the life of the console? You might know more about computer aspects, but you cannot apply every single one of them to this. It may be a computer in a console box, but the actual business model is based on the same aspects as all the other consoles... And that's licensing. Allowing mods and copies kills all that profit off, and the cost is going straight to MS. I'm sure MS doens't really give a crap how their stuff effects other companies in a bad way in most of the PC world, they sold it already. This is their problem though. You picked out certain things I said and jumped on them... Seems like you didn't read the context though, which is why there seems to be all these arguments against the smallest things I said and not the main ones. Doesn't matter, I have nothing else to say on the subject... No hard feelings either way :).

People made a big deal about it being removed from the GC version for some odd reason... Which is strange because most of it was removed from the DC US translation in the first place. It's generally agreed that there were way too many fights when you're flying around though heh.

I'm not going to get all philosophical on you about any of this... To me, lying is not worth the time. You just wind up having to cover up the original lie with more lies, and by that time there is little turning back... Um, basically what Piro said heh. In terms of something like this... About the only person I'd be scared to tell would be my stepfather for obvious reasons. But hell, it's who you are... If someone cannot accept it, in the end it's their problem. Sometimes it's hard though... It's hard to tell someone something if you know it will hurt them, even if it is true. I had a hard time in the past figuring out what was the best to do... Lie, just tell someone or keep it to myself. Lying just never seems to be the best choice, it comes back to get you. I think telling the truth right out is generally the best thing... You might be scared to do it, but it won't be haunting you once it's finished. I've found that people that care about you will find out anyway... And for me, it usually turns out that they are more upset that you lied to them, or didn't tell them at all. It's better just to get these things out I'd say. Anyway, I'm sure you have support from basically everyone here. Just do what feels right.

Super mods or the mods of that specific area can change the thread title. You can also change it yourself, but it won't show in the actual forum... Just within the thread.

Snow isn't that bad until you remember all the crap that goes along with it. I HATE shoveling the snow. Especially when there is a big snow storm and you wind up having to shovel while it's still snowing (unless you want to do 1 to 2 feet at once, I sure don't). Driving in it is horrible. My car is not really made to deal with snow. I slide and fishtail all over the place, even at super low speeds. The traffic is automatically bad here when it snows. You think living in Chicago would make people use to bad weather, but no... They still have to drive 5 miles an hour just because these is some light snow in the sky. When I was a kid it was fun... Sometimes. I wouldn't mind never seeing it again though.

I personally do not differentiate between real life and online life for the most part. I don't consider friends I make here (or online in general) any less of a friend than some person I know personally (other than some best friends I have in my real life as well, but what can you expect). I talk the same on here and AIM as I do in real life. Sure, it's easier when you can actually speak, and I tend to act like a far bigger idiot in person when given the chance... But the attitude is still the same. I don't have the time or the patience to make some different character for myself online. I'm not one to lie, so I just stay myself. If people do not like it, that's okay with me... Can't expect everyone to.

I think the point of the existance of dubs is rather obvious, and it's all been explained here. If I have to choose between one or the other, I get subs. Now that there are DVDs, I can generally choose the language I want to listen to. Sometimes I don't feel like sitting there and reading everything on the screen, and I put the dubs on instead. Some of them aren't that horrible, but I tend to not be super nitpicky about that stuff anyway... Especially when I'm tired and just want to watch something.. Honestly, I don't know Japanese. For all I know, the Japanese voice actors in some anime might be considered horrible to Japanese people. There are American voice actors that I think are awful, yet somehow they manage to make careers out of it anyway.

I don't have my PS2 right now (UGH), but I'd say boot up without a game in it... Check out all those options in there, and see if someone weird is enabled. I think there is something about showing version numbers in there, but I'm probably wrong.

The suicide stuff is rather irrelevant at this point. It's too late to do anything about it. Since you meitioned it, it is a fact that Cobain had way (like at least dozens of times) over the lethal dose of heroin in his body -- he wouldn't have been able to do anything after shooting up, and if you know people that do that stuff, there is no way in hell he would have put it all away that neatly after doing it either. Anyway, I like Nirvana. One of the few "grunge" labeled bands that I actually could get into. I liked the fact that the lyrics were simple for the most part, but Cobain carried enough emotion that it all worked. The rest of the band was great as well. Even so, I don't think Nirvana and Cobain were the best thing since god like so many people make it seem. Any band that covers Bowie (The Man Who Sold the World) and says good things about the Pixies is good in my book no matter what though :). I have no plans to buy that Grestest Hits CD. I'm not into the "new" song, and I already have everything else on that disc. Unplugged is something you should buy without thinking though.
