You only live maybe 40 minutes away from me... lol. I've never been to Arkansas, but I assumed it never snowed there. Guess I was right, yay. Anyway, might take even more getting used to lol. It snowed less than an inch by my house, but I know some of the southern suburbs got a few inches already. Only going to get worse, hope you like it :). Anyway, people here seem to like you very much just by your normal posting. You seem very nice from what I've seen. I'd assume you're basically the same on OB as you are in person, so I agree with everyone else: just be yourself. If you're not, it will just lead to some problems later anyway. There are so many different kinds of people around Chicago (I consider where you are Chicago more or less still), so I'm sure you'll have no problems making friends :).

I'm from Chicago, and apparently we have accents here. I obviously can't tell as I live here, but people seem to be able to point it out when I vist some other state or city. I went to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for my first year of college, and it was such a huge difference. I didn't think it would be, considering it's still the same state... But everyone had southern accents. I worked at a Target there, and I didn't even know what people were talking about sometimes. Bags were called sacks, receipts were called tickets, and other differences I can't remember. I said I wanted some pop one day, and everyone though I said pot... They call it soda there, which is something like NO ONE says here in Chicago. They also had fun pointing out my accent, apparently people from Chicago say "Chicago" different than everyone else... lol

Well I had seen Robotech and the countless other shows that were translated for TV here... such as Voltron. My uncle had the entire Robotech series on tape, as well as some Sentinels (not sure of the spelling) and import stuff. I was only like 6 or something though, so I really don't know that it all got me into anime. I have a soft spot for Robotech still. When I was a bit older, but still pretty young I found his Vampire Hunter D tape... I know a lot of people don't consider that a very good anime, but this was still over 10 years ago. I'd never seen a animated anything as violent or as dark as that, and it caught my attention. I still didn't really buy much of the stuff though. I mostly bought manga after this point though... GitS, the entire Appleseed collection, Ranma 1/2, Akira... etc. I started buying anime because of manga though, so I guess that's what got me into it.

I live in the northwest side of Chicago :). I'm from San Diego, but I've been here most of my life. Hopefully you live somewhere in south Illinois, because I have a feeling winter is going to be bad this year haha.

Really? I think that makes you and I the only people here in Illinois... At least I think so :).

Endings are in the same style as past Metroids. I'd figure there has to be something for people that beat it as fast as possible as well, but who knows. I don't really want the game to end :D.

There are games based on it coming out as well. I think Bandai is bringing the first volume of the game series to America soon. Would be good to check out, I've heard good things.

Hmm... First thing first, grab Super Metroid and Super Mario Allstars. Puzzles - Tetris Attack... Awesome game in my opinion, one of the few puzzlers I played to death. I've still yet to buy it myself though :(. Fighters - Mortal Kombat II (if you like that stuff), Street Fighter II (whatever the newest version is, I think Turbo) and possibly Killer Instinct. I'd avoid Street Fighter Alpha, as it's a pretty crappy port. Shooters/whatever - Star Fox, Contra (there are a few of them, but they're all pretty good), Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Super Ghouls n Ghosts, Castlevanai IV, Megaman Xwhatever and Pocky & Rocky. RPGs/Adventures - Final Fantasy 2 and 3 (hell to find these now, so good luck), Secret of Mana, Lufia 2, Chrono Trigger, Robotrek (horrible translation, but I love this game lol) and Earthbound (my favorite RPG ever). Illusion of Gaia and Secret of Evermore are also decent. E.V.O. Is also fun, but really weird. Those are my recommendations... Guess it depends on what you like. Nice job getting a multi tap though, things are hard to find at this point... Oh and since you have that, get a Super Bomberman game.

Jump up, grab the ledge... Then just press up, you'll slide into that space automatically. I have to wait til Christmas to play more of Fusion myself heh.

Well in my case... I don't personally mind a lot of it. Just mentioning to someone not to do something isn't that big of a deal. The only time it's ever aggrivating for me is when someone "plays mod" and will not drop it. All that results is a lot of arguing and the whole thread gets completely offtrack... In some cases it simply just gets closed, and the originator of the thread is basically SOL because some people wouldn't let it go. I do realize the offending person sometimes goes on that "That's too damn bad, ban me if you don't like it" trip... but it's just not fight it and talk to the right person. There is a report "post to moderator" link for a reason heh.

You just have to pay attention to their likes and dislikes... You can't go wrong if you get them something that has to do with something they love or are passionate about. Examples that I wound up doing: I had a girlfriend that liked Nightmare Before Christmas a LOT, and luckily during that year they started putting out a lot of items based on it again. So I got her a whole bunch of that stuff. I knew someone else who liked Cheap Trick, and I looked around for stuff about the band... but not some plain CD or shirt that made it seem like I put no thought in it. I wound up finding a hand knitted sweater with a bunch of Cheap Trick stuff sewn into it in the process. That worked out well. And lastly another girlfreind I had liked Weezer (I do not like this band lol)... So after talking to a lot of people, and going through hell I wound up getting her a guitar autographed by the band for last Christnas. The amount of money I wound up spending nearly killed me financially at the time, but I felt it was worth it to see her expression when I finally gave it to her. I've known others who just like you to make things... So money isn't usually an issue at all, unless the person is pretty selfish lol. So basically, I think the best thing to do is find something they really like to listen to, watch or do and make or buy something that deals with that and actually had some thought process behind it. As for my mom... She always wants pics of my sister, brothers and I... So we took those at some photo place thiis year (man that was horrible lol). My brothers mostly just want games, so I pay attention to what they seem to take the most interest in when seeing commercials and stuff haha.

Well I'd say the first thing to do would be to go speak to a doctor. I realize that's hard to do, but obviously everything you've tried so far hasn't worked. It's at least worth a try, and a doctor should be able to refer you to someone or something that would help.

I've been to a sci-fi convention... But that was like over 10 years ago. Pretty weird experience. I bought a bunch of Star Wars models, all of which seemed to be missing a piece. Anyway, I'm sure there has to be a few. Whenever I go to Orlando, my grandpa and I always stop by all these huge comic/anime/whatever stores that seem to be everywhere down there. I'd figure someone there would know... Around here people basically just keep track of what Rosemont Expo Center has going on, or some hotel... That's where most of them happen here in Chicago.

Gaming Inventory time again: Show off your pre-Christmas game collection

Are you looking for all we own? Or stuff we've bought recentlly? haha -
Is this the anime with a guy with a big afro, that does some sort of "afro attack" that has like a million little guys in afros behind him appear? I've been trying to figure out what that picture was from lol.

I'd like to see what direction this takes... Whether it's going to follow the guidelines of the cartoon, or stick with the more gritty (and substantially more violent) comics. They were both pretty different. In the comics, I believe one of the turlles actually lost an arm, and had a mechanical one added in its place. I'd probably watch this once or twice to see how it turned out. TMNT was like my favorite cartoon 10 years ago. They better put a hockey mask on Casey too haha.

I believe there is a 3D one for PS2 that's supposedly being translated for US release. The graphics are nothing mindblowing (they just look like smoothed out, hi-res PSX graphics), but still pretty good. Not sure what's up with it right now though. I've not used the PSX version, mostly because I do not want to write all the things it asks you to without a keyboard. That's the biggest strength of the PC version... As well as what Rico mentioned, and the huge development community that works and adds to it.

Yeah, that's all I'm talking about... I dunno, I thought it was pretty cool haha. Better than most first person games, where you just fall over and it says Game Over. Anyway, I'm loving this game. There are so many little details that add to what is already a really polished, fun and beautiful game... When you're outside on Talon IV, rain drops splash on your gun and if you look up they hit your visor; jumping out of water and having it roll down your visor is still pretty cool after all this time; there are more types and colors of alien blood to splatter on you than I expected... I don't know how far everyone else is, but I don't want to ruin anything. I have a few new beams and visors, and they are all great. Everything is coming together in this game so well, and I'm willing to go as far as saying this is the best game I've ever played.

There are a lot of games I'd would change in some radical way... Doesn't mean they'd be perfect though. Playing Tomb Raider, I can't tell you how many times I got pissed off with the annoying controls. I'd say the biggest complaint I have with a game that I love to death and is near perfect in my opinion... Is that I want it to never end. You beat it, and you think "Wouldn't it be better if there were a few more levels, a few more characters" and so on. I wind up doing that a lot, but I guess that's what sequels are for. I'm kind of going through this with Metroid Prime. I'm not all that far percentage wise, but I feel like I've done so much already. It's pretty amazing in that aspect, and I kind of wish the game would never end lol. This mostly happens to me with music games. I wish Frequency had another group of songs; I wish Gitaroo Man simply had MORE stages lol. Oh well.

I had forgotten to save so many times now... I find myself having to redo stuff I've already done.... The great thing is, I don't mind it at all. Everything about this game is fun. I even love the backtracking aspects, which are very Metroid. I'm glad they kept them in. It'ce nice getting a new item and trying to remember a place you saw that you need it for. The boss fights so far are some of the best I've ever seen in a game of this type. They all make nice use of your items, and some are pretty damn hard the first time around. I've died a few times to some of the bosses (by the way, the death animation sequence is great lol). I love FPS games to pieces, and I honestly do not think this feels like a FPS whatsoever. Think Super Metroid, that's honestly the closest comparision there is... And even I am surprised by that. I finallly got a nice amount of time in the game now, and I'm in the Drifts... Yet another boss has killed me :D.

It sounds like his motives are to keep you away completely... He knows you don't want to (or can't) fight, so maybe he is hoping that will make you stay away completely. IT almost seems like he wants you out of the girls life.... maybe he likes her himself? I suppose that's one possibility, although a pretty odd one. I dunno man, the whole thing seems really fishy either way.
