Anime_gurl, are you doing well in school without a gaming system? I'd think most parents would be okay if their kid was an A student and got a game system... But if someone is a C or less student, I'd figure they have a legitimate worry. Which of those are you? I think games are one of the reasons I've learned to read and write well (reading all those RPGs), but I know many people that play games until it takes over their lives and they do poorly in class and many other things. So I really don't know that they are being unfair[/i ] or anything, and either way. like wrist cutter said, school is important anyway. Do well enough, get a good job and buy all the systems you want when the time comes :D.

Regardless I think most people do agree that Hybrid Theory would be a rap/metal CD. Reanimation is a remix/reinterpretation LP (which are normally EPs or singles, but whatever). I really do not understand how everyone expected it to sound like the first CD; the whole point of it's existance is to sound different from the original.

Anime Just picked up "VHD: Bloodlust"! ...and you won't believe where!
Semjaza replied to JCBaggee's topic in Otaku Central
Target has started carrying some too... I'm not talking DBZ like always lol. They have had Akira for a while now, and I saw Amitage III there the other day. That's about all they have that I've seen... But hopefully it will get some new people into anime. The Walmart by me had no anime last I looked, but I was in a rush to get out of there was it was. I hate that place. -
My name is Tony (well, my middle name... but that's what everyone calls me). Some people here already refer to me as that, which can be weird to read sometimes. Not that being called Semjaza Azazel feels normal heh.

My parents don't really concern themselves over what I own. Probably because I pay for it all myself (even the internet lol). I've always gotten good grades and had game systems, so they never really got on me about that.

Goin down to South Park gonna have myself a time....
Semjaza replied to Yu Yu Hakusho!'s topic in Noosphere
I like South Park... I don't love it mostly because Comedy Central shows the same damn episode ALL week over and over. I think only Nick Jr. does that otherwise. I've bought a couple of the DVDs... The intros from the creators are great, sometimes eevn better than the shows lol. -
Well I agree with you guys there is nothing wrong with this idea, but that is my general thought on how threads "of this type" wind up... Just responding to someone else's comment heh :). I honestly have no idea if anyone here can't stand me. I'm sure there are some (possibly lots), but it's never really concerned me. I can't think of anyone I've ever really had a problem with online other than ProudClod (I know you can see this, you suck!). Most everyone online has been pretty cool, and being online (especially on boards) forces you to pretty much just be more accepting, which has made it even more interesting to be here. I'd generally assume the people I talk to more regularly on AIM/whatever do like me (you know who you are) lol. So yeah... I have no real idea one way or the other :D.

I don't know that any of who I'm about to list would be considered amazing vocally to most people, but I find them unique enough to be worth mentioning. Phillips Exeter Blue I of Deadsy. P. Exeter Blue doesn't have an amazing range, in fact his voice is basically monotone when he sings. Somehow he can still do a lot with it, and a puts off a lot of emotion in ways I never really noticed from many bands of Deadsy's type. It's also amazing to me that he can sing in this way and not be just plain boring vocally. Mike Patton. Most people probably know him as the lead singer of Faith No More (at least after 1988), and probably think the band did nothing outside of the band "Epic." Faith No More put out several CDs (some with, and some prior to Patton), and he also was the lead of Fantomas, Mr. Bungle, some solo projects (it is amazing what this guy can do with just his voice and a mic) and upcoming releases from Tomahawk and Peeping Tom. I think most of what Patton has done has been excellent, and the fact that he can sing in so many bands with so many varying takes on genres is amazing. There is a CD Fantomas put out with nothing but classic movie themes, and Patton shows so much range at times with a really pure, or just really gruff voice. He changes at random, which is what I think makes his voice as great as it is. Francis Black of The Pixies. I'm sure most people think this guy sounds horrible, and honestly I'll admit he is nothing special at first. The way he belts out things so quick, changes his tone and alters his voice are really interesting to me though. And he has this patented yell that no one else does. I'd probably also include Kim Deal (played with Pixies, now is vocalist of The Breeders), who has a unique voice that no one really can duplicate. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Trent is really hit or miss, especially live... There are times when you can tell he just burned out from the tour. But when sings well, he can be amazing (again, especially live lol). He has more of a vocal range than a lot of people realize, and again I think the emotion in his voice makes up for his usually better than average vocal talent. Emotion can make up for a lot in songs for me, and totally makes a difference between two live versions of the same song he could do over a tour. Lastly David Bowie and Jim Morrison... Two people who I think are gods of music, and will never ever be replicated. Image, message or sound wise. Bowie has always been ahead of his time in my opinion, and his vocals have gone through many different stages. I don't think many top him in pure musical talent right now. Morrison is best in the live stuff I've heard, and carries more emotion in one live song or poem than most bands do in their lifetimes lately. I'd also list Philip Anselmo of Pantera and Down... Yes all he does is scream, but if you have listened to his actual downbeat songs where he sings, he has an amazing voice considering. It's probably just great to me because it was such a huge surprise lol. I'd also list the lead singer of godhead (beautiful deep voice, somewhat simliar to Deadsy, but not monotone). Oh, and the lead singer of Curve (I forget her name). She just has an outright beautiful voice. And I wrote too much again... It's early :D

That's because these threads always turn into a contest to see who loathes themselves the most.

This is what I don't get... Hacking a game (like PSO on DC), is not the same as modding a system. Yes you can play backups and whatever else... But since when do mods allow you to bypass security or mess with actual gameplay? I've never seen any that do this. Live is all server side for the most part. No modchip is going to trick MS into thinking you subscribe to Live. No modchip is going to act like a Gameshark and hack online games (why not just buy a Gameshark in that case?). I understand the other points here, but I really fail to see what a modchip can do to affect Live other than letting people play bootlegged copies they shouldn't be playing.

There is a program that does all this for you... At least in terms of converting normal graphics to AC palettes. I'm willing to send it to whoever wants it, as it seems really hard to find. Anicro Desapro is the name, and a guy at PGC makes it. It also converts the images, puts them on a grid like in AC, and puts numbers over the colors... basically making it a paint by number thing by the time you do it in AC.

All this yelling is taking away my horny. This is one of the most bitterly ironic threads here yet. I know people that will beat up on others until they physically stand up for themselves. No amount of talking, walking away, dodging, telling elders or blocking will change their minds. It's extemely hard to get all intelligent with someone when they are a moron who isn't intelligent himself. One that's hell bent on making your life a living hell because you won't do anything about it. I still don't see why intelligence is always such a factor. I've seen a kid whack another kid in the face with a padlock. A kid he didn't even know. Now after that kid picked himself off the floor, do you honestly think that him trying to talk to this kid would do anything? Some people are just violent assholes, there is little way to change them. Just like there is no way to change TN's mind on this subject lol. I agree with TN to an extent, but I just don't think that anyone that fights back is an idiot.
Originally posted by Muhgi Yeah it is.... And um, since when? Because even in XOM it still calls it Project Ego in the Games of the Year, the newest issue.....
Since when what? If you are referring to my overhyped comment then, I'll explain it more. Molyneux is well known in PC circles, mostly because of Populous... which was an admittedly original and good game (it even hit SNES). Years later, the hype for Black and White begun. He hyped it to no end (hype only rivaled for ED by Denis Dyack on GC), and I think it's basically agreed that the game never lived up to anything he said. This wasn't a first for him, or his teams. Fable is being hyped hard by him, and so is BC. I have no idea what XOM is, but of course any Xbox publication is going to list it as a best game ever. I'm not going to give in to it's hype, and based on past ezperience with Molyneux I expect it to be totally average. If it's not, then good... I'll buy it. Wouldn't be the first time a supposed killer-app Xbox title turned out to be nothing special though lol.

Bleh. I figure someone would mention that song lol. If it wasn't in TMNT2 we all know it wouldn't have done crap. I never once heard it on the radio, and I bet it didn't help sell CDs in any way heh.

I am pretty sure Los Del Rio has been around like forever, and had put out some pretty big songs in the past. Ricky Martin had 2 or 3 more songs that were popular singles as well. I'd say Rico Suave is a good one hit wonder lol. Same with Vanilla Ice, all anyone remembers by him is Ice Ice Baby. I'm not sure how he got so popular off one song.

I was watching Seinfeld when I first read this... In their coffee shop they have that symbol on the back walls by the bathroom (it looked like it anyway). Weird. From your discription the only way I'm remotely mod is by putting different types of band patches on my stuff. I think pretty much anybody really does that though lol. I couldn't even stomach some of those bands honestly, but to each his own :).

A fight club is honestly something I'd go in on. The idea of it interests me, especially the fact that there is no actual hatred between the two fighters. It's just right out fighting. I'm sure anyone that has fought enough can tell you fighting is somehow a really good release, and I've never minded the pain. All of my fights have been in self defense though haha, and I'm not a remotely outwardly violent person. As for fighting at like school or whatever... I totally avoid it. I'm an extremely patient person (moreso offline), and I deal with a lot of the crap I get with people. Generally I get along with nearly everyone, so there is little fight worthy things to speak of. There are times where there is nearly no other choice. Some people just don't listen without force, and while I'd like to think otherwise, it's just how it is. I've never gotten to the point where I'd beat someone's face in, but I've done enough for them to get the point. You can only talk and walk away for so long. I don't think intelligence has a lot to do with it when it gets to that point. No matter how "smart" you are, you can wind up in a situation where there is no other way out. I've seen it countless times, and I've been involved in some of those situations myself once or twice. Some people just pick out a person to treat like ****, no amount of talking is going to change their minds.

Whenever I copy I press ctrl+C like 3 times just to ensure that I copied it. After all that stuff that everyone else suggested, the only thing I can say is you didn't copy properly heh. Every computer with Windows has notepad and wordpad. Both suffice.
-
I have no reason to Trick or Treat. I do something else, and by the end of the night we have bags full of left over candy kids didn't get. I just eat that stuff heh. No one I knew was having a party or anything, so I just stuck around the house.
-
The only time I think sellout is a correct term is in reference to a band that completely changes it's look, lineup or sound, not for innovation, growth or evolution, but simply to sell more records or get popular. I honestly cannot even think of any one band that has done this. So I think it's WAY overused. Another word I think is used way too much is poser.
-
I think everyone here knows this band. And if they didn't, they know now as this has been the 10th thread on the subject heh. Either way, not something I'd listen to.
-
Black belts are extremely strong later in the game after your characters grow up. Just don't equip them with items and they do massive damage heh. Really thieves are quick... but who cares? They aren't very strong, and you can't steal anything in the game. I've never really bothered with one lol.

On the back of the Ninja Scroll box it says "For Mature audiences only. Contains violence, strong language, bried nudity and adult situations." So there is a warning. Used to be that places would sort out between the more adult anime and normal anime... at least with some sort of sticker. I think only Blockbuster does that now.

Knowing kids like these... Two days later they'll probably forget who the hell they even picked on. I once got in a fight in the middle of Six Corners (it's a place in Chicago where 3 seperate main streets cross), basically in the middle of the street. It started because this one guy like charged at my dad's suburban, and since I was already out of the car... My dad got out just in case the guy went at me. So they were fighting, and this kid got out of the guy's truck and I held him back. I knew this kid, and a month later I wound up going to his school. He didn't remember me at all. And unlike what they did to you, where I'm assuming they beat up on like a million other kids... this was a really bizarre, isolated incident lol (making it even more memorable for anyone involved). There is more to the story, but that's enough lol. So yeah, my point is I wouldn't worry about it. They probably won't continue with it.

Well anything excluding complete censorship is going to have some flaw people are going to take advantage of. Such as getting past a rating in a movie. I'm not sure what more anyone can do, if someone is determined to do anything, they are going to figure out a way to do it sooner or later anyway. Honestly, even if everything was censored it would just lead to some black market where people could get uncensored crap anyway (this already has happened in Germany to some extent with censored videogames). People find ways. I'm not sure what it is you think people should say heh. Personally I think censorship kills off any artistic aspect something has... Music, paintings... Somewhat movies and games (if they are considered art to you). I suppose that doesn't count for something that's violent just for the sake of being violent... But a lot of art would lose it's meaning totally if it was censored. The other thing about it that annoys me is that it's usually some old politician that found a scapegoat to beat up on. He/she turns it into like his life's goal to do something about it. Listening to these people, it's obvious they know nearly nothing about what they are against anyway (Leiberman comes to mind). I personally don't want the goverment or some institution telling me what I can or can't see or listen to. That's all it comes down to for me. I don't really care about this moral side of it.
