What is with some of your posts in this thread? Think before you type. Thursday is pretty good. I had only heard of them fairly recently, and am supposed to see them when they stop in Chicago this November. I doubt that will happen though.

I find that the more someone denies their masturbation, the more I'm prone to think they do it. Even people having sex on a regular basis do that stuff. It's always available heh. My parents and I don't really talk about it. My mom has broached the subject before, but she never got in depth and was always cool about it. I haven't had sex with too many different people anyway, so it's not something I can see her freaking out about. They're all girls I had been seeing awhile anyway. If they asked I'd just tell them, but I'm not one to randomly bring that up heh. Other than that I don't know... I don't drink, smoke, do drugs... none of that stuff. My family is another story (mostly fathers and their friends - generally weed), but that isn't really a secret to anyone that knows them. I've grown up around all that stuff, in a biker type environment (although most bikers are cool as hell, some we know are in gangs and such - nearly all have some substance problem it seems though)... I'm amazed I'm not more messed up than I am.

Several people have been talking about Legaia here, and it seems as though no one seems to know (for whatever reason) about Wild Arms 3 or Suikoden 3. These two are my most wanted RPGs of the year (especially now that Star Ocean 3 was delayed. I can't say much of anything about Suikoden 2 yet as it's not out, but people tell me it's even better than the 2nd. Suikoden 2 was near godlike, so that's good ;). Anyway, Wild Arms 3. Wild Arms came out on PSX early on in it's life. It really wasn't anything super special, but it was a good, low-budget RPG that came around at a time when PSX had little RPG games to choose from. Wild Arms 2 hit much later, and I thought this game was crap honestly. Both basically proved that the developers working on them couldn't handle 3D at all (although WA had decent 2D graphics). If you could get past the ancient look, the games were quite good... At least that's what I'm told about WA2 lol. Anyway, I don't know what SCEA did with this series... But this is an incredibly good game. It blows the previous 2 out of the water in every concievable way. The presentation and polish in this game impressed the hell out of me, especially considering I wasn't expecting much in either of those categories. The game looks surprisingly good. Characters and enemies have this sketchy/cel shaded look. It seems odd at first, but after seeing it in motion it turns out well. The characters are still detailed, but they have this thin black line around them. There have been a few areas where light casts down over the characters, which just looks amazing. The animation is decent as well, and while it doesn't have any real lip movement, the characters have far more mannerisms and body language than many other RPGs. Sound is also excellent. I can't tell if the music is always orchestrated or not, but I know for a fact some of the songs are. There are tracks with choirs, some with vocals... It all just sounds great. My only complaint is that the battle theme seems rather out of place. The sound effects are more or less standard stuff that every RPG has. It's worth noting that there is NO voice acting in this game at all. I personally don't miss that heh. Gameplay is quite good. The game starts out in present time, where 4 main characters meet up by accident. You are then allowed to play each of the characters prologues (in any order you choose), which detal what they did before meeting. It's a lot like the first WA in this way, and I wish more RPGs did it. Fights are pretty much normal stuff that all RPGs have. Wild Arms has always featured guns though, which are referred to as ARMs in game. You can attack with ARMs, or with your bare hands... ARMs are best to use of course, but they need to be reloaded. Each character's gun can hold different amounts of ammo. Ammo is unlimited though, and can be replenished by using Defend in fight. Ammo is automatically reloaded when a fight ends. The game also has an interesting spell system, which is honestly kind of hard to explain. You'd have to play it to really understand, and I don't want to type out something coherant right now lol. Dungeons are well made. Each character has tools they can use to get through an area. One can use bombs to blow up stuff, another has a boomerang to his switches far away. It gives the game a Zelda-ish quality which is nice. Most importantly, the characters are great. I'm already interested in them this early on, especially since the game is good at telling you just enough to get you interested in finding out more. The game has a Wild West theme (cowboys... one of the characters is Native American (or whatever they'd be considered in this world, it's called Felgaia). The main character is also female... So it has two rather uncommon qualities for RPGs right there. There are problems... The game uses a compass, but it's at times hard to follow because it's so damn small. The game also has jaggy problems from time to time, as well as some really annoying shimmering. Lastly, the world map is just plain weird. It's set up normally, except when wandering around you cannot see towns and landmarks at all. You have to press Square to do a "search" which makes them show up. Basically you wind up running around pushing Square every 5 seconds. It's just not needed lol. Anyway, it's a great game... I don't understand some of the low scores it has gotten. It really isn't that old school, and is just a lot of fun. I've personally enjoyed it more than any other PS2 RPG so far. I'll probably add Suikoden 3 stuff in here next week. It comes out on the 22nd.

What ever happened to Aries anyway? He practically lived in the Art/Design forum, and now I never see him anymore.

I agree... best Castlevania there is, if you ignore SotN heh. I'm surprised to say that the graphics are just a step below the PSX game. The sound took a hit, and not only does it sound like a Genesis game musically, the compositions just aren't very good. The Clock Tower in particular has horrible music I think. I was really impressed though. I never found Circle of the Moon to be that amazing, but HoD really, really won me over.

1. Where are you from? (country, city, locate it if it's not known) 2. Tell us something we should know about it 3. no "it's boring" or "never comes here" 4. discuss about it! 1.) I'm originally from San Diego, CA. My dad was in the Navy at the time, and was stationed there. We moved to Chicago, IL a short time after I was born. I'm basically the only one in my entire family that wasn't born in or around Chicago. 2.) I think most people know something about Chicago, and usually it's something about our sports teams (or at least how they used to be). I can't think of anything offhand that is amazing though lol. 3 and 4 are honestly all kind of the same hehe. Chicago is a great city, and I've never really been anywhere I liked better. There is a lot to do, especially once you are old enough. Lots of shows, clubs, bars and whatever else might interest you. At the same time, I'm getting tired of it and want to go somewhere new. I guess everything great about Chicago just becomes standard fare if you've lived here all your life. If I was from some other city I'd probably have a lot more to say about it heh. The weather can go either way (which is both good and bad, depending). Most of the time it's either way too cold, or way too hot. There isn't much of a happy middle depending on the season. I like the cold and rain, but it gets to be a little much here. The summers can be such hell, getting well over 100 something degrees (which isn't too bad until you consider all the humdity we get). Anyway, I like it here... I've yet to see anyone else on the boards even mention being from IL, let alone Chicago, so that'd be interesting to find out.

I've been stopping myself from going against everyone else about this game, but I can't anymore. I found Golden Sun to be predictable, tedious and boring. Yes, the graphics for the most part are great. The sound is some of the best on the system. Personally, these mean little to me in RPGs and as long as they're decent, I'm good. My problems lie with the actual gameplay. I liked that you had to use spells in the actual town and dungeon areas to get places... but other than that I found nothing special. The battles are simply boring and poorly balanced, you could easily just use Djinn to blast through everything. This is probably the only RPG I've played since DW2 that has characters attack a targeted enemy even if it's already dead. The translation is way to stiff, the story just didn't interest me and very few of the characters interested me at all. Of course, this is all personal experience. Everyone else can love it all they want :).

I've heard ot the new Q, but no real announcements. Eitherway, nothing the Q can do extra is used with gaming. The current Q can use 5.1 sound, but it doesn't do jack with GC games. The same will be true of the HD and whatever else is included in a new model. I've never seen any shots of this model though. Panasonic did unveil new Blue Ray DVD drives, but so did like 15 other companies at a recent event in Japan. Most of which looked like a VCR as you said. None were referred to as Q though.

No one even mentioned who was best at modding anything. I think most people know that eastern countries lead thiss frontin general, mostly because there is more demand there like you said. I still fail to see what this has to do with anything that was said. And like I edited in my post, things with the mod chipped Xbox changed. It was widely believed for a while that MS would block out modded systems, and theoretically they still can. I don't doubt they will at some point either. Either way, I edited my post wit that info months ago. MS has been targeting mod selling sites rather heavily lately (although Nintendo and Sony are also involved, seemingly to a lesser extent). It would be in MS's best interest to block it all out, even if they deny their doing it right now. Blocking mod chips was a very persistant rumor back when I posted that lol.

I agree with that. On top of that, mIRC is not something an average person can just jump into without knowledge of it, or at least a bit of time to spend messing around (and a lotof patience). Fileservers and all that can get annoying fast.

I buy soundtracks if I know for a fact the songs on there are not on an artist's main albums. I'd say the best soundtrack I can remember buying was for the movie Lost Highway. It has some nice Bowie, Rammstein and NIN tracks... plus a couple solo Trent songs. Spawn the Movie was another decent soundtrack. Edit - I actually only own one more soundtrack, and that's for Nightmare Before Christmas. I can't believe I forgot that.

I no longer have Machina 2... But I believe it was like 25 tracks spread over two vinyls. So it sounds like you have all of it :). The only other thing released by them around that time was a track called "untitled." I'm not sure where it's available on, or if it was live or whatever else. It sounds a lot like a folk song or something.

All anyone has to do is glance at TN's sig and know what's up heh. People ask me something and I'll tell them. I don't really have any big secrets per se, I just have things I keep to myself unless asked.
-
It's amazing... all the hell TMNT puts you through to get to Shredder, and you can easily beat him without getting touched. That was a great game I thought. Was pretty happy once I was done with it though haha.

I'm afraid to say it... But if you're downloading at school you're pretty much SOL. I'm sure they are filtering out anything that would allow you to share files. There are sites that have mp3s up, as well as FTPs... But I doubt any Chevelle. Shouldn't you be doing other things in that class? haha

You have what? lol Smashing Pumpkins probably got a little to full of themselves at the end... I think that's reflected by some of their later CDs; even the lyrics on Adore give me that impression (although I guess that would be mostly Corgan). I was happy that they rectified a lot of that by making Machina 2 internet only for the most part. I never listened to Machina itself though. But anyway, I liked the bamd. I thought Adore was a great album, unlike most people... But I don't know that anything could top Mellon Collie. The thing has more good songs on it than a lot of bands put out in their entire career. Soma and XYU are probably my favorite songs by them. I also like Marquis in Spades, even though the band thinks it's a stupid song lol. Soundgarden was always pretty decent, but I pretty much forgot about them after the singer split off and added to the list of whiny solo rock CDs out there. I never did, and never ever will like Pearl Jam.

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categories/products/product.asp?pf_id=218049 It's already out. I've read some decent impressions, but I'm not sure if it'll interest me based on my dislike for the original. Wild Arms 3 also came out today, which I'll probably check out... Even though the 2nd one wasn't very good haha.

I thought there was a Japanese version if this movie, because I thought there was a game of the same name based on it. I'll have to check it out. I have no real knowledge of the US one... Comments by reviewers comparing it to Rosemary's Baby are raising my interest in it, but probably not enough to go see it at the theater. Never know though.

Are you talking about the boss inside the trash compactor? heh What you want to do is run around the level first, destroying as many things as you can. I mostly used my Z-Saber against those shooting towers. Your weapons go up in level the more you use them. I waited until I was able to charge up my saber, and the boss was simple. I was most impressed by the fact that the game changes what happens depending on if you complete or fail a mission. Great game so far.

I don't think the demos actually let you choose... They just translated them to English for the average person at E3 to understand it. I doubt there will be an option for it. What happened to "Search for Bork." lol That was the fake subtitle that surfaced like last week.

I thought they were both balanced in terms of fights. Of course D had longer fights with certain characters in both... But who could forget in the first one where he just charges out of the castle and kills something like 456346356 monsters with each slash of his sword? haha

I've had a lot of pets, but the most recent and hard hitting one was my rat, Pogo. I originally had two - the other was named Twiggy - but she was always sickly and afraid so I think she might have been better off passing away. Pogo was the coolest pet I ever had though. She was cage trained, extremely quiet, relaxed and just well behaved. She would just sit on my shoulder as I worked on the computer, cleaning her face off or whatever else. One day I came home and she was just dead in her cage. Very crappy thing to deal with. I bought my 2nd ferret a short time later. I named her Kit, and I still have her right now.

I quite simply could not stand this game. The graphics bothered me and the game just dragged and dragged. I personally didn't find the fighting all that great to make up for the rest of it. The most important stuff, characters and story, were totally lacking in nearly every way. I'm very open about RPGs, but this game didn't catch my interest at all. I'm not sure about the second one yet, it should be out soon. It annoys me that everyone has played this game, while threads on Valkyrie Profile and Persona/Persona 2 disappear. Oh well.

I'm hoping you don't live in the US if you paid that much lol.
