1. I always wondered why they sang "Girls Just Want to Have Fun." The newer ones were alright, but it's like they tried to add this little kid soap opera idea to it. I don't know if that's a good discription for it... But I could have done without some of the issues that show attempted to deal with. I liked the old 60s chipmunks because it was so ridiculous. Alvin was simply insane, and the voices were hilarious. Dave would go nuts 5 times each episode. My only gripe was that they seemed to play the ones a lot. Mostly one about Christmas. Nickelodeon was always horrible about reruns though.

The Tuxedo

I saw the movie today... I found it entertaining, and sometimes pretty funny. But really, there just weren't enough Jackie Chan stunts in it. Those were the only reason I really bothered to go see it. There were at least some good car scenes. I thought the story was pretty damn weird. There were a lot of times where it was just like... if you thought about the story, or what was going on, it really made no sense.
3. As for Barbies... I don't know of any Kevin, but there is that little kid Tommy. I used to work in a toy store, and had to sort them out every so often. Kelly and Tommy (the two Barbie kids) had like 10 little friends too. But yeah... lol. I used to have pogs. I never get why I, or anyone, really liked playing it. It had hardly any skill to it... I think people mostly liked the collection aspects. I had some really cool looking ones.
4. I agree about the fighting. The whole one on one things kills off any excitement. You can be surrouned by 10 guys, and only one will fight you...even if you hit others in the process. The money is annoying, mainly because there is only one way to get it: under rocks. The other problem is that once you get all the scarabs from under the rocks, you have to completely exit the level until they respawn. I do agree most of the stuff that is sold in the game is useless, but I liked messing with some of the extra items. I haven't gotten to play this in days... My 7 year old brother took it over on like Friday. He's farther than I was, so that might say how easy this game is.
5. I was playing this at my friends the other day... Why in the world doesn't Lost Levels have a 2 player option?? On top of that, they changed the 2 player mode for SMB1... Even when you win a level, you still switch turns. In the original, you kept going until you died. I far preferred that, and if they ever make another All Stars, I really hope they make it how it used to be. I'd personally like it if All Stars 2 had the original NES graphics as well as the SNES remakes. I'd also like it if the game included the Vs. Super Mario Bros arcade game. It was the same game, but it had a top 10 score board.
6. Nice thread title lol. My one friend plays this song quite a lot. He's obsessed with this type of music, and lately it's been this Justin CD and the upcoming Nick Carter one. I am not into this style of music, and I don't know that I would care what Justin did next. I think his voice just really isn't that good, and has this high pitched whiny quality to it. The whole song comes off at a poor attempt to make him seem like a cool, sexy badass... trying to get rid of his clean, nice N*Sync image (that he kind of has I guess lol). The whole song just has rather idiotic lyrics to it, and that hip hop part drives me insane. If people like it, whatever... All I know is that I am tired of hearing it everytime I go out with him somewhere. Thank god for his Queen CD.

xeno gears

I'm just gonna modify one of my older posts... lol. Really long RPG... My first time through took about 60 hours. A lot of that time though is spent reading. This game has a LOT of text, and at times it get's rather complex. Lots of characters and such are introduced almost out of nowhere and you get little, if any, information about them. The story itself deals with "religion," but really only in it's most basic sense: whether or not god exists. The story is the game's strongest point though, despite it having some holes. I know a lot of people who consider it very boring due to its subject matter though...and the huge amount of text there is to read. It should also be noted that a lot of the symbolic things that the game refers to are simply used wrong. The average person won't realize this, but if you keep up on religious stuff you might see this. A lot of it seems like they were just trying to stick in any religious facet they could. There are also times when the game is simply too vague, and then sticks other parts of the story right in your face so you realize it. There are quite a few plot holes as well. But really, there is enough story that is used well in the game that it works. The fighting mechanics were pretty cool at the time. The game gives you a number of points which you can divide among weak, medium and strong attacks...as well as magic and special abilities (each using a different amount of points, or AP). This results in some planning at times, and the use of combos. The cool thing is that you discover new combos as time goes on, so the fighting isn't anywhere near as boring as it could have been. Later on in the game you get to ride around in Gears, which are basically the mecha of the game. They also have their own fight mechanics and strengths...they don't really have combos, but they can learn new moves as you do and be upgraded. Graphically, this game is great. The characters and enemies are 2D sprites, which at times are kind of pixelated... But usually look alright. The gears and environments are 3D. There is some slowdown, but on a whole everything looks great and is detailed well. I think there are some design issues though, because there is a point in a game where you have to climb the side of some temple without falling...it's a pain in the ***. The sound is also great. I'm not sure if they used the same filetypes as in the FF games or what, but at times it's almost CD quality. Sound effects are good, but the voice acting is HORRIBLE. The characters rarely speak, but when they do it just ripped me out of the game. If you like deep RPGs, this game is needed. If you don't, just stay away. It will take a lot of yout time.
8. Heh, another RPG that I doubt there will be much response to :). Persona was the first PSX RPG I ever bought. I personally loved it, although other people insisted that it sucked. The game had a heavy Japanese side to it, but I loved it for that reason. The story was different from most, the characters were developed decently and the monster designs were great. The only thing that hurt it was the first person dungeon segments. So of course, I paid a lot of attention to the Persona 2 games. There were two of them... Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. Only Eternal Punishment was brought over. When you get far enough in the game, you will see that the game somewhat vaguley mentions things that happened in Innocent Sin... But it's not like you need to have played that game to understand them. Honestly, Persona 2 is my favorite PSX RPG. It adds onto the original in every possible way. GRaphics are way more detailed, the sound is way better, the translation is a little better and they made the dugeons 3rd person. They also ditched that lame town map, where you actually had to fight monsters while traveling on it. I forget who the first boss is... But really, the rest of the game is awesome. The whole Joker thing gets added on to, and a lot of weird supermatural things start to happen. It is really hard to talk about most of the story without spoiling anything, but I can assure you it gets better and better. A lot of really unexpected things happen, and the game is good at telling you just enough about something that you want to keep playing and find out what really happened.
9. I am earthquake, whatever the hell that means. Doesn't really suit me. The test seemed messed up though, the submit button appears twice and has some stuff typed in between it.
10. I somehow doubt you'll get much of a response on this game... But anyway, I love Valkyrie Profile. Enix is my favorite RPG company, and anything they do with tri-Ace is usually godlike (as long as it's translated well... Sony nearly killed Star Ocean: Second Story). There were quite a few things I disliked about it though. The job/skill system is way more organized than in Star Ocean... but at the same time it simply seems useless. You sit there raising levels for skills, which while they help battle somewhat, eventually just get tedious to mess around with. I realize you need to teach characters certain skills so they are ready for the final batlle... But the game doesn't really give you a reason to want to do that since the reasoning isn't really explained for quite a whike... at least not in detail. What kept me going was gaining all the characters. Each had his/her own story, and some were really interesting. It's kind of like DW7 in that aspect... The game is composed of a lot of smaller stories than add up into one big one. The battle system's pretty cool, but I found that it did get kind of boring eventually. There is only so much you can do with timing attacks to get combos or knock a monster out. Sure, it's more innovative than other RPGs (it's kind of link Xenogears in terms of fights), but just like Xenogears it somehow got old for me. I can't even explain why really. Norse mythology wise... I know very little about all that. I found the game interesting, but it never made me compelled to go read a book about it lol. I had read one long ago, but barely remember it now. Graphics and soundwise... Probably one of the top few looking games on the system. Music is excellent, and for the most part so are the voiceovers. All in all, I thought it was 50 bucks well spent.
11. Evil Dead is one of my favorite movies ever. I know only a few people other than me that seem to love it, a lot of others just thought it was stupid. Army of Darkness was good, but really disappointing at the same time. I wouldn't have minded the comedy, as the Evil Dead 2 had some of it... But there were no scary parts, and little blood in the movie. It was more like a more violent Three Stooges with mosnters anc chainsaws. I bought the Offical Bootleg Edition of the DVD, which had deleted footage edited back in. The deleted stuff was actually cooler than what was left in. Only problem was that they didn't fix up the deleted stuff, so it looked like crap compared to the rest of the video. I'd still recommened that Book of the Dead gift set to anyone though, totally worth the pice (watch out, it's only 30 at Best Buy, some places want like up to 80 for it).
12. It's not really the first, but sometimes I think the fact that the early years of it were so incredibly good are what's keeping it afloat now. I watch SNL and simply rarely laugh. Their running skits just aren't funny to me, and I wonder how any people think some of the are worthy of a movie.
13. I draw on and off. I get something inside of me every so often, and I like HAVE to make something (draw, photoshop, illustrator)... Then I go for months without doing it again. I also like videogames, messing with computers, photography (new at that). I love music, and spend most of my time listening to or playing it. I dunno if this is a hobby, but I absolutely love animals. Cats, kittens and ferrets (mostly the two ferrets \ I've had lol) especially.
14. The camera isn't really an issue... It's almost exactly like OoT, it just follows the character. When you get in a fight, the screen becomes letter boxed and you basically circle the enemy and the camera follows suit (again, just like Zelda lol). Whenever you need to straighten out the camera you can just press L. I personally have had no problems with it, unlike KH. My main problem with the KH camera was that it had no percecption of height... The bosses are huge, and half the time you can barely see what you should be aiming at. The camera barely keeps up with the enemies either. These are not issues in SFA at all. I think the reason we hear so much about slowdown in this game, is that if a review doesn't mention a lot of people simply pass it off as "biased." There is slowdown, but NEVER has it affected gameplay for me. It generally happens when you are looking over really far distances or when you run past a loading point. I notice the cut scenes seem to run at a slightly slower frame rate, but not stuttery or anything. The same was said of SMS though, a game I only noticed slowdown in twice... and both times were at Gelato Beach. The final boss battle, which was supposedly the worst FPS offender, barely slowed down at all... To a point where I didn't even notice. So in closing, FPS is fine... Camera is fine lol. Good game... but it does feel like you are put on item hunts for no real reason. They are never aggrivating, because the item in question is usually like 10 feet away. Liking it so far, but rarely get to play... My little brother took the game over :).
15. The first episode seemed serious until they introduced the talking dogs. From then on I considered it a comedy with insane amounts of action. The rabbit thing sounds kind of normal for the show honestly lol.
16. I think the original Batman came only with the Batmobile. I had him, and he had a bright yellow belt that pulls out and can like grapple on to things. I must say that most of my favorite toys were made pretty well... mainly TMNT and He-Man stuff. I still have boxes of those things [acled away somewhere. Those Ranbo figured were also pretty damn detailed and articulated for their time.
17. They are Australian prices.
A- All prices on the site are in Australian dollars. Don't panic! when we send you the confirmation email we will convert the total to your chosen currency. The current value of the Australian dollar is roughly half of the US dollar. To calculate approximate prices halve the listed price. For Example Trigun DVD boxed set(4 disks) AU$90 = approx. US$45
Suddenly the prices aren't so bad. Those Shirow posters in the Ghost in the Shell section are hot though, might order those :). Other cool stuff I personally liked:
18. That's easier said than done when every enemy takes 2 to 3 hits to kill you, and you are basically only allowed 3 items to use (which sometimes you are in the middle of using when you are killed). Donald and Goofy waste items the first chance they get. Bosses seem to take at least twice as long to kill as well. I don't know that it's that hard but it gets incredibly frustrating early on. It also doesn't help that it's just damn weird to have to gain levels in an adventure game. I'm not that far as I gave my brother the game... At least there is a fun aspect to the whole Gummi thing lol.
19. Boogiepop Phantom is excellent. I'm not even sure how to explain it. It doesn't exactly have a main character... It's like each episode is a different persons thoughts or encounter with Boogiepop. It kind of reminds me of Lain in that it's rather complex, but still very vague. It's honestly pretty morbid too. I think it's worth getting, but there simply aren't enough episodes on each DVD, which makes it seem too expensive... I bought it anyway though, and I do recommend it.
20. There seems to be two versions of his undershirt... Recent video shows him with a brown shirt, which I'll admit looks far better.
21. Well I am talking about the GameCube version, which supposedly is the best version anyway lol. It's the same game on all 3 systems, although I prefer the control on GC (most prefer PS2).
22. Agent Under Fire is decent... I liked the addition of car chase levels which had some cool features in them, such as the rocket boost and flying over broken bridges (which were unfortunately not used that often). The tank level was also really cool, despite it being on rails. My main problems with the game was that it was WAY too linear. There was little to actually do and the levels were rather small and uninspired. I also couldn't stand the guns... they show nerf ball sized bullets that spread all over the place. There was like no point to aiming because it took like 5 shots to even hit your target from a distance. Multiplayer was fun though... a step back from Goldeneye, but good. I am looking forward to Nightfire. It's being done by another team, Eurocom, who made TWINE on N64. The driving levels are being handled by the Need For Speed team, so that should be good. Comes out this November I believe.
23. I stopped drinking soda (we call it pop here lol), except on rare ocassions, because it constantly made me sick... If I had to pick one I'd probably say Coke because I just thought it tasted better.
24. I only buy stuff with subtitles at this point. I like checking out the dubbed versions, and I will watch them... mainly because I just don't feel like reading the entire show with my eyes glued to the screen so I won't miss something. A lot of dubbing is just crap... Voices don't fit (too young or too old is usually the problem), some just aren't timed well and most are simply just half assed. I can think of a few good dubs offhand, and I don't care if someone else prefers dubs to subs. I'd personally rather watch the anime in it's original form though, and thankfully DVD is letting me have my choice.
25. It's just under a foot tall. Might normally be considered expensive, but it seems like any plush I import from Japan is really good quality. 50 still seems steep though, and I'm sure shipping to the US isn't cheap. You also have to factor in that stores like you add on huge amounts of money to anything imported lol.
