I've been playing FF games since they came out. I've played the Japanese only 2 and 3 translated ROMs as well. For me, something has been missing from the series since FF6 (which was simply FF3 back when I bought it... PSX didn't even exist lol). I LOVE RPGs. You can ask anyone. I prefer Enix, Game Arts and Atlus over Square anyday though. FF is a great series, but I'd rather play series like Persona, Lunar, Star Ocean, Dragon Warrior, Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre (although Square owns that now) etc... or one time games like Valkyrie Profile. Persona 2 is possibly my favorite PSX RPG. Honestly, I like Square's non-FF games more than FF lately. Xenogears, Vagrant Story and Chrono Cross trounce FF lately in my opinion. I am obviously in the minority lol. I think FFX picked up the series a bit in some ways though. I just think it would be nice to inject some new concepts into FF and see what it could do in a different way. I know all about the different things each FF has gotten along the years, but looking at this game... It seems to be a pretty big departure from what we are all used to, which for me is a good thing :). I could get into the whole story problem I have with FF, but I'll do that only if asked lol. Not to say FF is a bad series, I think it's great... But I love other series far more. Edit --- I forgot Front Mission 3. Very, very excellent mech strategy game by Square. Love that to pieces lol.

Um yes... Left lol. I haven't got far enough into the game to see this Bahamut Fayth (I think) as I borrowed it to someone who hasn't given it back in 5 months! Bleh. Anyway, I personally cannot make out anything in that staff yet lol. I think I'm going blind.

I like AFI. The songs are well written most of the time, although at times I find the vocals to be at rather annoying pitches. Kind of weird how they have this whole goth/punk/hardcore style and it actually works. I can't think of any bands offhand that replicate that. They have a damn good live show too. I've only gotten to see them once though.

Why in the world are you guys discussing the definition of geek? That's geeky in the first place lol. Anyone that is as familiar with PCs, the internet and frequents message boards is a dork/nerd/geek in some fashion. I have no problem with being a dork.

The thing about FF Online is that, to me, it more or less comes off as any other MMORPG except the FF name is tacked onto it to help ensure sales. The game isn't exactly selling well in Japan (which is most likely because you NEED that expensive HD to play it, which will likely hurt sales here as well). People will tire of playing the same damn game over and over and over. There is way more money to be had in releasing full fledged sequels, or at least addon packs, instead of just updating an existing game. Money is all it really comes down to. Companies cannot rely on online functions as a crutch so they never have to make another actual game again, which is what you are basically suggesting from what I understand :).

I don't think I'd say no, but if all she had were looks then I sure as well wouldn't stick with it. I find lack of intelligence to be a huge turn off lol. I guess other people like a stupid girl that is submissive and follows them everywhere they go. I personally don't. Too many generalizations in here... heh. TN basically summarized my final thoughts on all of it.

Well if you think that some certain street magic trick is a sham, then really all of it is. That's what I was personally referring to. Either way, I know I could never do any of it :).

I know how you feel quite often :). It seems like when abd things happen, it's all at once. Today wasn't so bad for me so far. I called in to my job and quit. Man, I haven't felt this good in quite a while hehe.

Oh, I missed that part :drunk:. Well then doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of punk in the first place? At least at first (like WAY back) it was kind of about rebellion, and to an extent it still is depending on the band. There are also so many political punk bands out there... I guess some companies just figured there were enough casual listeners of "punk" that Avril would be a good investment. Honestly, I've heard so little of Avril. All I know is that the second I saw and heard her, nothing made me think she was punk. If she doesn't write the songs, then what does she have to say? What is the point of her music? Punk can't be done in the same was as boy bands, you can't have a panel of lyricists write songs for you. Since when do teen magazines know anything about music outside of looks anyway? lol

Love Rollercoaster was actually made for the Beavis and Butthead Movie soundtrack. Not sure if it was on another CD, but it's not on One Hot Minute :). One Hot Minute had Aeroplane, My Friends and a few other singles on it. I liked the other songs on the CD more personally. I liked that song Coffee Shop most (I think that was the name anyway heh). I don't even listen to the radio, so luckily these songs aren't that played out for me :).

A lot of bands consist of people that dropped out of school. Still... mutant? How can someone write songs when then don't even know basic words like that? I'm not sure if she even writes her own stuff, but whatever. I remember when Christina Aguilera was talking to Tiger Woods and said something like, "I love watching you play tennis!" She was actually serious too. Quite sad.

Before I even read what you wrote, I was wondering who that was to the top right of Yuna. Guess I'll never know heh. It is really good though, I'm looking forward to the finished product.

The only boy band I hate honestly is Dream Street. That's the biggest marketing ploy there is if you ask me. Aaron bothers me to an extent too... He is only able to put out things because of his brother, because really, he isn't that talented. I might as well buy those stupid Kidz Bop CDs I see on TV all the time. Bleh. I'm not into these other bands, but I can certainly tolerate them.

All magic is a big sham lol. I've never honestly seen a street magician in person... All I usually see are homeless people near the L tracks (our version of a sbuway, except it goes above ground too, basically) trying to play instruments. Some are really good... some are horrible. I still wonder how this one guy has a $500 Yamaha keyboard, yet can't even play it. Only real magic shows I've seen in person were at Caesar's Palace.

For Europe there is always that whole PAL debate, but from talking to people like James (who also has to wait) it seems like that is more BS than anything. For stuff like Pokemon, doesn't the game have to be translated into like 5 different languages for release over there? I'm sure that's the main problem. I mean, the US alone got Gold and Silver WAY after Japan did, and we only have one real language. For Gameboy stuff you could just import from the US... They work on any Gameboy, the thing is you have to pay extra costs which generally aren't worth it. Every so often Europe/UK gets something before the US. You guys already have Tekken 4 and Capcom Vs. SNK 2 EO on GC and we don't lol. Not that that even makes up for it :).

Favorites threads would be permitted if people actually gave some reasons, and didn't just simply list things. I mean you must have some reasons why these are your favorite characters, why don't you just type that up? Anyway, I have no power in this forum... so we'll have to wait and see heh.

Well in terms of the popular punk scene... I'd guess so. I personally look more into Chicago's local scene... which while it slowed down, it's still far from dying lol. I guess it all depends :). I get your point though. Bands like Millencolin and Goldfinger seem to be gaining popularity because of all this BS, which I guess is good in the long run. Ataris are putting something out on Columbia Records, I wonder what that will lead to now that they are off the smaller punk labels (Kung Fu, etc.). Yeah they were always kinda poppy, other than a few songs, but they still were great. As long as they don't suddenly change their entire sound I don't really mind how far they go. Afterall, making it is really the goal of every band... despite what some claim.

Well I can't find any threads on this in here, so I figured I'd post a new one. The past couple days the Tokyo Game Show took place in Japan (it might still be going today, not sure). Despite all the hype it recieved, nothing amazing was really announced. There was no news on FF: Crystal Chronicles like everyone was hoping. In case you don't know FF:CC is the next FF game for GameCube. It's seperate from the ones PS2 gets, and seems to be going for a more super deformed look like the older SNES and NES FF games. It's hard to tell what type of game it is from movies and shots... It seems like it might be an action RPG, but it could also just have a battle system like Grandia (which is heavy on action, but still turn based). There will also be some linkage to the GBA, but I'm not exactly sure how it will be used at this point. Lastly, it seems like it has a strong chance at being multiplayer. Personally, I am tiring of the FF games... so hopefully this will be something new and it will be done well. Anyway, I was at Gaming-Age and someone posted a lot of new images. They are all concept art, except the last few which are in game models. Anyway thanks to Neo2046 at Gaming-Age. I put the pics on my server so they don't leech :). Which is always a good thing :). I can't get them to show up in the thread at all, so click the links.

I can't stand half of the Japanese music I've heard, but I don't go proclaiming it in every thread. What's the point? I know many different types of people into many different types of punk. Some think these is a certain mentality you have to be into it, most don't. I've liked metal all my life (it was replaced by punk a few years ago because I like that better), and yeah there are the stereotypical idiots that go along with it... but most of them are nothing like that. There is a HUGE difference between 95% of "punk" an average person knows (such as Avril if that's even what she is considered and to a lesser extent Blink and Offspring) and bands that are changing and defining the punk scene now that these same people know nothing about. Anyone that hates crap like Avril, and the dozen other Blink wannabes, and thinks all punk is like that is a moron. Punk isn't dead as a whole, but I sure wish this whole parade of trendy pop punk with no real basis or point would just frickin die already. Honestly, if you go by that mentality nearly all music is dead. Every genre has it's marketing puppets and sellouts.

Out of all of them... I'd have to go with Oracle of Seasons/Ages (I can't pick between the two). It's like a perfect mix between the clasic Zeldas and the N64 games. Dungeon design is wonderful, the characters are familiar and it's just a hell of a lot of fun. Normally I'd probably say Link to the Past, but these games were just really damn good. Glad I picked them up :).

The only thing that really annoyed me about the aftermath of the whole thing was the marketing schemes. Every other thing said "United We Stand" or "We Will Never Forget" or something to this effect... It turned it all into a joke. Even AIM and Yahoo Messenger have American Pride type skins now (although interestingly Yahoo recently got rid of theirs). I also found it strange how suddenly EVERYONE wanted a flag. My house and one other were the only ones on the block with American flags outside the house before 9/11, and then suddenly everyone had one. Two months later, everyone's was down again except ours. That's just really sad. I noticed this past September 11th a few more flags popped up around here, but most are gone again. It all leads me to wonder how many people actually cared about what happened as much as they claim.

I saw a little kid fall off his bike today! HAHA. =/ Honestly, how the hell is that funny? It's pretty pathetic honestly. It is somewhat amusing that the fans got what was deserved, but I digress.

Yeah, I was going to say that too. Boy band type stuff sells like crazy, so it is what is considered "pop" right now for the most part. Several years back it was Micheal Jackson and decades before it was the Beatles. It changes every few years it seems.
