You're stereotyping and generalizing either way... what's the difference lol. I don't really agree with either side of this. People are complex. I can't have one single opinion about all women or all men because generally no two are alike. The fact that everyone here seems to have some different opinion on all of this is proof of that. But oh well heh. I personally like someone to talk to, so I certainly would never date a complete idiot... no matter what she was like otherwise.

I know it was announced long ago (and even if it wasn't, it's not like it's not expected -- Capcom milks series to death), but at least a shot gives people something to talk about. Something the game forum here needs quite often, or no one posts for days lol. No one seems to care about the TGS posts in the Xbox section here, and other games there have mostly been talked to death already. At least some discussion is coming out of it :).

Megaman X7 was announced today for the PS2. I can't find much info on it other than the fact that it's 3D and cel shaded. I included the pic which I get that amazing idea from lol.

Well it has been confirmed that Rare owns Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie and Conker... I'd guess that means JFG, Blast Corps and whatever else too. I'm not sure if KI is included in that or not. I bet anything MS will get Rare to work on one of those first, just to create some stir among average people who don't pay attention to this stuff. A lot of people equate Rare with Nintendo right now. Rare's two DK GBA games will be released, but Sabre Wulf and another are on hold for the time being.

the face of metal(and music in general for that matter) today

Well I totally agree now, but at the start I still insist there was some uniqueness and talent to Slipknot. No one I know knows their first CD though, so it's usually a useless argument. Speaking of Bowie, everyone should buy Heathen. It's amazing, more his old style than the last CD ("Hours..."). Hours... was a better CD overall in my opinion though. I love Bowie :). -
I found some new shots at IGNBoards earlier today. One shows off a nice castle area... It has nice lighting, but for some reason Link's shadow doesn't fit (it's angled the opposite way that it should be). Oh well. http://www.ria.net/~binary/z1.jpg http://www.ria.net/~binary/z2.jpg http://www.ria.net/~binary/z3.jpg http://www.ria.net/~binary/z7.jpg http://www.ria.net/~binary/z8.jpg The last one apparently shows that there are different camera modea that can possibly be moved around with the C-Stick... Hadn't heard much about that yet.

I don't know... sometimes I think I am making myself think the internet is fun, when 90% of the time it simply isn't. I mostly use it to talk to people I wouldn't get to otherwise. If I didn't have these thimgs, then I would just find something else to do. I don't think I'd be that upset that it was gone after the initial shock either. Glad you like the banner

Not sure who you are referring to, but if it was me I was replying to Amphion. No need to get snippy :).
Originally posted by Amphion I cant stand pearl Jam or Soundgarden. Its just my opinion. To me there not metal, they are more rock or alternative.
-
I find that a good deal of girls are instinctively attracted to jerks. Maybe that's the problem? :) You wouldn't guess that the nice guys I know are nice by looking at them, but they are. I guess some people look for the wrong things in the wrong places at the wrong times. That and they are unlucky.

Akuma (I think that's him) is very prominent in your avatar.. well at least it's the same style anyway. But he does kind of blend into the larger image you made. I didn't even him in there the first time I looked at it.. I just made it out now :). I like it a lot. Images with monochromatic (or at least close to it) always interest me for some reason. The only thing I'm not big on is the barcode, but I never was really into random barcodes in images in the first place heh.

Well I'm assuming we'd still have the same mail delivery services we have now... Honestly, it's not that bad to have to wait like 2 or 3 days for a letter lol. If we'd still have TV and Radio for news and enterainment type stuff... I can't say I'd really miss phones, internet or computers. Half the time I'd rather do without them anyway.

It plays and views just about any type of media file in existance. It's a must download for anyone in my opinion. Sometimes it's layout is a real pain though. I had lost it... thanks for the link :).

In case anyone doesn't know, TGS started today in Japan. Normally it is kind of a boring show, especially since it used to be held twice a year. But now it's only held in the fall, and a lot of things most likely were held by Nintendo devs because of Spaceworld ending... Anyway... Namco has announced a new Xbox game, Breakdown. I can't tell what it is exactly at this point... but graphically it looks decent. It looks like a first person fighter, which doesn't interest me at ALL. But maybe someone here cares lol. http://www.namco.co.jp/home/cs/xbox/breakdown/ Don't ask me WHY Namco considers Summer 2003 to be "soon" lol. Xbox Live will launch in January in Japan... after the holiday season for some reason. Apparently, MS didn't learn from launching Xbox after the holidays. There is also some game called NUDE that was announced for Xbox, apparently it is some sort of Seaman/Tamigotchi type game... the big difference being that the thing you take care of is some sort of female robot. Starcraft: Ghost was also announced... for multi-system release. The only system it is running on at the show is Xbox though. Blizzard itself isn't developing it... I forget the name of that team. Looks like an action game, can't say I am impressed just yet. The only other real news to come out of TGS that I know was the announcement of a new Virtual On for PS2, and the possibility of Capcom Vs. SNK 2 EO being Live compatible (which personally I doubt). Blizzards site seems to be having trouble, so the images go down every so often. I'll remove the links later if it's an ongoing problem.

I didn't know anyone every considered either of those bands "metal." But who knows anymore... I don't get genres. -
MY server is down, pics should work in a few hours...unless they are working obviously heh I took some pics later on in this too... My brothers just got done with my GBA, and I never cleaned it. So it's a mess lol. Also, the coating on the GBA doesn't like my flash at some angles so the pics are kinda funny, but still readable. ----------------------------------------------------------- I finally picked up an e-Reader with DK Jr. today. I also grabbed the other sets of cards available: Tennis, Balloon Fight, Pinball and Excitebike. For people that don't know what the e-Reader is... It's an accessory that plugs into the GBA's cart slot. You scan special e-cards through a slot in the e-Reader and they do different things. Certain GC games can make use of them as well when you use the GBA/GC cable. The e-Reader is about $40 and comes with a full 5 card set that make up a classic NES game (DK Jr. or Pinball, you can pick), as well as another pack that contains an Animal Crossing Card, a Game and Watch Manhole game card and 3 Pokemon cards. I first tried out DK Jr. In the pack were 5 cards. On either side of the card is a strip of dots which have to be scanned through the reader. So I plugged the reader into the GBA and started it up. The first thing I noticed is that the e-reader isn't as top heavy as it looks. It's incredibly light, barely heavier than a Gameboy cartridge. Once the GBA is on, you are brought to a menu. I was surprised that it actually had a voice that spoke and told you what to do. A female voice tells you what menu you are in, or what you should do next. It's nothing amazing, but it's pretty clear. The music wasn't bad either heh. Anyway, you are given two options: Scan Card and Communication. Communication lets you hook the GBA and e-Reader to a GC or GBA. I'll get into the GC thing later with Animal Crossing. Scan card brings you to a screen that lets you do just that. For DK Jr. I scanned one side of the first card and heard a chime. You have to do it rather slowly, otherwise you get an error sound and must scan it over again. It's easy to get used to though. Anyway, all five cards have dot strips on either side. You can scan the cards in in any order, the e-Reader doesn't care. For DK Jr, when you first scan a card a little image appears and is divided into 10 pieces. Each time you scan a card another piece is added to this image until it's completed. When you are all done you can run the game. The e-reader also gives you the option of saving any one program to memory, so you could save DK Jr. to the memory in the reader and not have to scan it all over again. When something is saved to the reader, a 3rd menu choice is available that lets you load that application right away. You'd lose this data when you scan in another game though. The NES emulation is pretty good. All the sound and graphics are present. The graphics are slightly smushed though, but it's only really visible with text. Text looks as though the bottom pixels of each letter were removed, but it's still perfectly readable. Controls are the same as on the NES, and pressing L and R at the same time give you the option to Reset the NES or continue. The Game and Watch Manhole game was only one two-sided card. It's exactly the same as on the old Game and Watch systems...same graphics and beep sounds. The game is pretty damn fun though, especially once it speeds up. Then I tried the Pokemon cards. They look just like standard Pokemon cards, other than the fact that they have a dot strip and E logo on them. Machop and his too evolutions were included in my pack, and when all 3 were loaded you got to play a boulder smashing game with that Pokemon. Nothing amazing, but a pretty cool feature. I hear future cards will act like Pokedex data with the reader, which might be a thing people are interested in. Last, I scanned the AC card that was included. When I scanned it, it told me to go use this at the ETM in AC to use it. It also gave me a password which I could mail to any animal in town for another free gift. So I wrote a letter to one of the animals with the password. I'm still waiting for a response, but apparently you get a totally different item this way than you would by scanning it at the Post Office's ETM in AC. In AC when you select "Other Things..." at the ETM you are given the option to scan a card or load the AC Reader program. I made sure my GBA was connected to the GC (the e-Reader has an extra port for the cable). I then selected Communication in the e-Reader menu and selected GameCube. From there you can have the GC transfer the data to the GBA. Took about 45 seconds and then I was given the option to scan my card. The ETM told me to go check my mail, and when I did I saw that I recieved a letter from K.K. Slider. He included a free gift, a recording of K.K. Ska. I was also impressed by the fact that one card can hold a basic tune (it plays out of the GBA when you scan the card, it's familiar to AC players), some graphics and other data. Not bad. So basically I got two items out of this card that I wouldn't have had otherwise. Apparently, future cards will also include letters, patterns and furniture on them. Unfortunately, they aren't being released until sometime in October. So that's that, sorry for writing so much lol. Ask any questions if you have them. I think this could be a very cool device in the future if used properly. I really hope Nintendo is trying to get other companies to make use of this device. I'll try to scan some cards in later if anyone actually bothers to post in this thread lol.

Well obviously that's idiotic. If it wasn't for these companies we'd get nothing but fansubs, if that... And until fairly recently they were incredibly hard to get, poorly done most of the time and damn expensive. It might still be this way for all I know, I haven't bought a fan sub outside of Macross the Movie in about a year :). I got it shipped from Hong Kong, with an english fan sub... Well done, other than the stupid "translated by so and so" subtitle that would appear every 30 minutes or so. I personally don't know anyone that watches some "mainstream" anime and suddenly thinks they know all about it... But I guess everyone is different lol. There are people like that with everything.

The Best Buys I've looked at have been asking $39.99 for network adapters. I've yet to see any at the store though, they seem to be in short supply and selling out quickly. There are ways to get online without one, but you'd need a USB modem... Not all of them are compatible with the PS2. I've yet to try mine. People are trying to sell them online on Ebay and other places for outrageous prices. The going rate for them seems to be like $70, which seems to include shipping... a ripoff if you ask me. Amazon supposedly has them, but I can't find a link that actually lets you pay for them. They want $50 bucks though. Everywhere else I look online is on backorder, so it looks like you might have to wait a while.

I can't really mod outside of the Mario section, but honestly... When does any topic in this section ever go off the first page before a few days (at the least)? I think you'll be fine. There's countless other anime to pick from that you could do pictures of. I don't know what other shows you like, but I'd just pick something from one of those than would be somewhat challenging.

Art GinnyLyn's lame attempt to make her own banners
Semjaza replied to GinnyLyn's topic in Creative Works
I have one of those thin, flat monitors... so images are "pixel perfect." Right now it isn't as hard to see as I rememeber it being last night....heh. I think I need new contacts :). Either way, I like both of these. -
Everything I've been hearing about this game is about what I expected... it's average. I plan on getting it anyway later today, because it sounds like the type of game I'd play. My only questions are... How much of this game so far is about Disney? Is it too much? Just enough? And is this camera really as bad as everyone is saying? I hear the main problem is that the camera doesn't keep up with the enemies you lock on to.
-
I can barely remember it... but my favorite cutscene was in OoT. It was the one where those 3 goddesses were flying around when you were hearing the store of the Triforce, or something like that lol.
-
I use something called Interact 16x, and it holds somewhere around 1000 blocks. I've yet to have any problems with it, and it's saved me a TON of money since those Nintendo cards are so damn tiny. I'd probably have filled up two 251s by now.

There is only so much adding on to an old game can do. I'm sure there could be expansion packs for FFXI, but I am sure Square would charge extra and wouldn't include any huge gameplay update in something they'd give you with the standard fee. I'd get tired of the game... I'd hope they would fall back on this game for years and years. They'd still keep making single player FF games either way though, which is how this series should be anyway if you ask me.

the face of metal(and music in general for that matter) today
Semjaza replied to treton_noir's topic in Noosphere
I liked Slipknot back in there Mate Feed Kill Repeat days. They were doing something few bands outside of something headed by Mike Patton would do (Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Fantomas, etc.). Unfortunately, they changed their self-titled LP to what everyone is used to by them now. Not a bad CD, but there are tons of heavier bands with far more talent than Slipknot currently, but that's besides the point heh. I really would like to know what the reason was they changed so much though. Either way, I think Iowa was a horrible release. A lot of people who hate Slipknot refuse to believe they were ever anything original, but I seriously think they were when they started out. Most metal is layered well... The heavy stuff especially. When you get past how aggressive and loud it is, you can notice a lot of the smaller things that go into it. So many things are arranged and layered at once, and if the band is good, they can somehow make it seem like music and not just pure noise. I think Pantera's Dimebag is amazing in that sense. He can play something just long enough that it gets catchy, but then switch it up again right away... and still keep with the song. Down is also damn good at this, but they are made up of some Pantera members in the first place. Soundgarden faded because people were tired of all the BS with the band, at least in my opinion. Same with STP. I think after a while people get tired of all the bitching, whining and fighting. I never liked Pearl Jam personally, but I would say most people would agree their sound is rather tired right now. They had already been around since the early 90s, I think it was about time something replaced them heh. I never got the attraction to this group, but hell most people hate what I do... so I'm open to it :). I'm not into metal as much as I used to be... It was pretty much taken over by "industrial" type music and punk :).
