Rockstar has several companies under them that make their games. I think DMA was recently renamed to Rockstar something though. I am not sure if Rockstar itself. They really turned around though, I remember their first announced game was a Mario Kart type game based on Austin Powers called Mojo Rally. They canceled that and have thankfully put out decent games since then lol.

I wonder how many people know Zelda was in the Japanese version at all. It wasn't really publicized much. Neither was Super Mario Bros. Both were available through Nintendo promotions in Japan, there was no way to get them in the game otherwise. I don't see why they'd take them out considering how much was added to the US version.

I've never personally been in a real accident. I only got my first ticket last month, after driving for well over 3 years. My stepfather got into an accident though. He was driving a full dressed Harley he owns. It was wet out, some car cut him off and he wasn't able to stop in time. I guess he rammed into the car and flew over it. The bike was totalled. He smashed his arm, they had to put a metal rod in it so it would get back to mormal. The guy who cut him off claimed full responsibilty... The bike now looks like it used to, and his arm seems back to normal. The only thing was that he missed a lot of work because of it. He was on his way to work, but not actually on the clock yet... so he didn't get ANY compensation for it. I don't know any of the details with all that though. My family has bad luck with that stuff. My biological dad died driving a motorcycle. Several family friends have gotten in accidents as well. That's what you get when your immediate family and their friends mostly consist of bikers lol. Most of my family won't even let me ride a motorcycle because of it.

Is there any real reason to buy one AC game over another? I've considerded buying one, as I played a demo a year or so back and like it quite a bit. I personally don't think it compared to Front Mission 3 or Carnage Heart on PSX, but I didn't get to play much of it. Should I grab 3? Or are the previous ones better in some way? Thanks.

I was really surprised when I saw the new version of He-Man on CN a couple weeks ago. I didn't even know it existed. It still retains some of it's corny qualities... There are still just plain stupid character names such as Man at Arms and some just seem to have the most useless powers. It also doesn't help that the voice of Leonardo (Cam Clark I think is the name) is doing young He-Man's voice. I liked some of the enemy designs though... They seem to be going in a darker direction. One girl in particular was pretty cool, but I can't really remember her. She seemed to be in charge though.

How different is this series from the actual movie? I've seen the movie, and was honestly let down. The only thing I've seen since then that was hyped to no end and was just as disappointing was Blood. I've never gotten around to reading the manga. I've really avoided it all because the movie didn't interest me. Is this worth seeing anyway? And what makes it so good?

I didn't even realize that... Well hopefully everyone will get rid of those stupid red X's soon. Good deal for me, I still had like 100 posts to go :).

However, Minagawa said Nintendo is not considering selling its 49-pct stake in Rare at the moment, despite a news report to the contrary. Well Nintendo says otherwise... But there are so many different companies that Rare is made up of (Rare Inc, Rare Liminted, etc), so who knows lol. I've heard everything from like 30 something percent to 51%.

Does anyone remember this weird NES show... They had this one mean kid talk before and after the show, he would usually give a free game out to someone at the end. It eventually turned into this really weird game show. Anyway, inbetween him was a cartoon. It was kind of like Captain N, but I don't think it actually was. It has Simon Belmont, this red circle guy name Qix and I think Pit from Kid Icarus. I can barely remember it, but maybe someone knows what I am talking about.

Actually, Nintendo owns 49%. Rare owned 51%, which basically mostly belonged to the Stamper brothers. As far as I can tell MS bought out the 51%, so no matter what Nintendo would be in the minority on company decisions. Nintendo has said several times in the past few days that they are selling that 49%, that it won't really affect them since Rare was about 1.5% of their revenue last year (and no they didn't release a game at all in 2002 so far, but that's basically what the problem is --- they don't release games), and so on. Nintendo is getting rid of Rare. There will be no GC games unless some weird fluke thing happens. When this is said and done, MS will own Rare... the only thing up in the air is what franchises go along with it. There is a possibility that those GBA games will be released. Micrsosoft Arcade is coming to GBA via THQ. I'm sure Rare and MS don't want to dump a few basically finished GBA games (such as Sabrewulf which has supposedly been finished for months). However, Nintendo is being weird abott this. Despite what all of Japanese financial magazines say, and what NOA posted on their site... NCL is still denying this is even happening. I bet most likely because they are still in negotiations. Probably trying to get more money out of MS for Rare fight now (lat I heard it was half a billion dollars), as well as securing those licenses (PD, Conker - if they want that, not sure - etc). If all goes according to plan though, Rare is off GC for good. It is all uspposed to be announced at MS's X02 event the day after Star Fox Adventures is released. Here is one source that basically says that:
Nintendo to consider selling Rare stake if asked Nintendo Co Ltd said it will consider selling its stake in UK game software developer Rare Ltd if another firm, such as Microsoft Corp, shows interest. Rare, maker of games such as "Donkey Kong" for Nintendo's Gamecube home-use console and handheld Gameboy, has not been a major contributor of software so a sell-off would have little impact on Nintendo, a spokesman said. "Last year Nintendo sold a lot of software but Rare's contribution only comprised 1.5%," said Nintendo's Yosuhiro Minagawa, adding: "A year earlier it amounted to 9.5%." However, Minagawa said Nintendo is not considering selling its 49-pct stake in Rare at the moment, despite a news report to the contrary. "That is pure speculation," he said, referring to a Nihon Keizai Shimbun report that Nintendo will sell the stake to Microsoft for 20-30 billion yen. The sale would enable Microsoft to use Rare's software, which has a good reputation in Europe, to boost the popularity of its Xbox home game console, the paper said. Minagawa, however, said Nintendo owned the copyright to Rare's characters and would continue to do so even after any potential stock sale. "That is a very important fact," said Minagawa, dismissing the idea of "Donkey Kong" appearing on Microsoft's X-box. Rare has been developing software for Nintendo since the mid-1980s. NNN © AFX News Story filed: 05:40 Friday 13th September 2002
This reminds me of the whole Nintendo/Square thing a few months back. One company would say one thing, another would say a different thing. And in the end we get 4 GBA games, a GC FF game and supposedly a couple more in development. Who knows anymore lol.

If Nintendo does this, I bet they will wait til all the GBA versions have sold for a long enough time lol. Personally, I would like it if they put every Mario game on one disc and basically left the graphics how they were. I'd like the NES versions of the first 3 Marios, as well as the SNES Allstar versions...and of course all the games you mentioned. Although, I doubt SMS would make the cut. I would hope that they would do this how SEGA is doing the Sonic Mega Collection... Lots of DVD type extra features. Stuff like commercials, advertisements, interviews, art, etc. I'd buy that in a second.

I'd like it to have the character and car customising that the PC version of GTA3 has, but that might be too much to ask.

I don't know where you are getting this info from... Nowhere ever have I seen SNES games listed. I even go to a place where a guy from NOA posts, and even he has never mentioned it. He has been telling us specific things about the game for like 2 months at least now. Tennis, DK, Balloon Fight, Golf, Excitebike, Pinball, Clu-Clu Land and DK Math are the "common" games. Punch Out!! is one of the more rare ones. I've yet to hear anything about Zelda or Super Mario Bros., but both were in the Japanese version. All of these are NES games, not Atari games (I actually own all of these NES carts). Anyway, I wouldn't believe anything about SNES games yet til I saw some real proof lol. Here's hoping though.

Well that and the story is apparently radically different. There's even a car in one of the screenshots heh. And by the way... This Seiken Densetsu game, well it is a remake. So everyone knows, Secret of Mana here was Seiken Densetsu 2 in Japan. The original Seiken Densetsu was known as Final Fantasy Adventure here and was for the Gameboy. That old Gameboy game is what is being remade... not Secret of Mana.

They put some of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show on a DVD... But they took all the real life stuff out. It's just the cartoons. I think they included a Zelda one too. I dunno... I was too little to realize whether or not these cartoons were actually bad or not. I honestly still like them to an extent now... Especially the really stupid musical numbers lol.

Those were made before Nintendo even had it's own console though. I own DK for Colecovision even. The games in AC are all based on their NES versions. You can get DK, DK Jr. and Mario Bros. on Atari. But there are also NES versions which looks about 10 times better, and those are the ones that GC emulates in AC. I get what you are saying though.
-
You can download the NES games to the GBA's RAM and play them on GBA if you wish. You just need the GBA to GC cable. There are no SNES games in the game at all. And Nintendo has nothing to do with Atari, so of course they aren't in the game either.

The profile wasn't loading at all last night for me. It seems back to normal now. I mainly have problems with the images loading several times, and for some reason they just take forever (especially the grey and blue bars). I'm on DSL, so it's not really a dial-up issue. A lot of my settings in the options simply don't work correctly either. Things seem to be speeding up over time though, some things just need to be worked out still. I'd rather have some problems than not have the boards up at all lol.

There were two Sonics like Solo Tremaine said... One was only on ABC, and had pretty good animation. The other was syndicated, and it just looked like crap. Urkel did the voice of Sonic for some bizarre reason... and most of the time was spent chasing these two stupid robots, one of which was a chicken. Personally, I liked the Mario cartoons because they were so cheesy. To this day I still laugh when I remember that Princess Toadstool's favorite band was Milli Vanilli.

Without going to indepth... This is something you should own if you have a GC. It's that simple. I know a few people that don't like it... but these are people that seem to hate Mario games and Nintendo in the first place for the most part. I also know a few people who love this game and don't like Mario 64 at all, so who knows. I think most people would agree that it is one of the best games on the system, if not THE best... despite some of it's problems and shortcomings.

IGN put up an article. So has Reuters, and I believe the LA Times. NCL has even been talking about it a bit in Japan. It's done. MS and Activision were bidding for Rare, and MS won out. Nintendo could have chosen to buy the entire company out, much like they did recently with Retro, but chose not to. From what I understand it's done, except Nintendo is trying to keep most of the licenses. Nintendo owns all the trademarks for the DK games Rare made, and I believe also KI and Banjo. They are apparently mostly fighting over who keeps the Perfect Dark license based on what I hear. Personally, I won't miss Rare. They make good games, but are incredibly overrated. They couldn't even get a game out in a reasonable amount of time with nintendo... who basically funded them, helped them and gave them all the time they could want (even going so far as getting them a huge 70 acre area for their company). I expect no different with MS, although I personally think MS will set dates and force the games out. Hopefully Nintendo will get the PD license, because I think Retro could do far better with the series. Retro is mostly made up of PC FPS veterans, and I think they could do the series justice. The best part of this is that Nintendo now has tons of extra money that supposedly they plan to use to entice 3rd parties into GC exclusive games. I guess we'll see what happens.

I rented it a few days ago. AC has been my most wanted game since it was first announced on the N64 a few years ago. For me, it has lived up to my expectations. I really doubt there will be a stand alone GBA version of the game, and no, nothing was announced. I was also somewhat underwhelmed by the GBA connection... It only really lets you do like two things. You can visit the Able Sisters and create your patterns on the GBA for free (instead of paying 350 bells, which isn't as much as it sounds lol), or you can visit an extra island. At first I thought the extra island was useless. There is an extra person on it... You can design your own flag, there is a new fruit there (for me a coconut) and there is an extra hut for storage. Once you leave it you are allowed to load the island to your GBA... I tried it and just didn't know what to do. I read up on it though. You have to first get the islander out of his house by knocking on the door with the GBA cursor. Then you can get him to knock down fruit from the trees. If he is happy he'll drop money, which you can then pick up (before he picks it back up again lol). I've been able to get abround 30,000 bells just by doing that once. There are also items floating around the island, which he can catch with a bug net. So really, the only true advantage to this GBA mode is getting a lot of free items. Certinaly better than any GBA to GC connection so far lol. I just hope the online AC sequel rumors become reality.

It's affected two people around Chicago so far. Strange thing is I haven't even seen one mosquito, let alone been bitten by one.

Fruits Basket sounds a lot like Ranma 1/2... It's it a comedy or does it take itself more seriously? It kinda sounds like it's some sort of sexual situation comedy like Ranma 1/2 is.

Every other music post here is about some lesser known or Japanese band. Other than the Linkin Park thread on this page, I have no idea why you'd think that. If you ask me, 5 minutes of MTV is more than enough. Unless, it's some cartoon.
