I wouldn't do it for a few reasons. The main one is that I don't want to hurt the few people I think genuinely do care about me. The other reason is that you let everyone else win.

No one involved with Square, Nintendo or any other developer said anything about it being about the FF anime series. It was something IGN speculated (and posted as near fact I might add), since a member of Square said it would be different from other FF games. However, the name "Crystal Chronicle" seems kind of similiar to the anime title. It also reminds me a lot of Mystic Quest, which was a game made by Square to get new people into RPGs (it wasn't meant to be an amazing FF game like everyone seemed to expect from it). This worries me, as the last thing I want on GC or GBA is a dumbed down and stripped RPG. As for FF Tactics... Sony butchered the translation, just like a few other RPGs they were involved in localizing. I'm not sure if Nintendo is publishing these games here, or if Square/EA is... but either way they will do a great job. It almost sounds like it will be practically a new game anyway... They'd have to redo all the 3D at the very least.

It's more of a side story than a full sequel, but either way it's part of the series. I think it's one of the most gorgeous 2D games created. I rented it once at Blockbuster, and the next week it was gone. I don't know why, but it wasn't even available to rent anymore. I've been searching everywhere for it, and I still cannot find it. I need this and Suikoden 2 to complete my RPG collection :(.

No it won't work that way. I've yet to try to save a PS2 game on a PSX card, as it seems useless... But, PSX games won't even recognize that there is a PS2 card in the slot at all. It just says "Memory Card Not Found," or something to that effect.
-
Yeah, and brands basically equals just Playstation. He says "Think Playstation" a bunch of time in the movie, and I just found that really idiotic. There is also a scene where he sits by a computer monitor that is showing an image of the PS2 game Kinetica the entire time. It's all pretty blatant. It was alright. Nothing amazing. I'm still trying to figure out why some critic is quoted on the commercial as saying "move over James Bond." It can't even compare. Decent mindless action movie though.

Playstation cards only save Playstation games. PS2 cards only save PS2 games. You can interchange the controllers though. Dual Shock 2s work fine on PSX. For the most part PSX controllers work fine on PS2... unless the game requires analog button pressing (such as The Bouncer or GT3). In which case a normal PSX controller won't work well or at all.

The reason it's no longer Xbox exclusive is because MS didn't want it anymore. That alone is reason enough for me to worry about what was going on with it in the first place. The game used to look good technically in the old shots, but I never liked the art style. The main problem with these shots seems to be the awful textures. They look stetched out...and just ugly. This happened with DOAX shots too. Tecmo keeps sending out images of girls in bikinis that look perfect... but if you look at the actual gameplay shots when you are playing volleyball you can tell the models aren't quite as good as those renders. There are plenty of edges and such on the bodies. Companies do things like this a lot. From what I understand, all 3 systems will be getting it... we'll see how it turns out.

I've noticed a lot of PDO shots are widescreen, which is a far different resolution from the normal Xbox captures we are all used to. I hope this means there is 16x9 resolution for this game, something I wish all games had. Would be nice on my new TV if it was true... too bad I'm exchanging it hehe. There are some even better pics than that around. Most notable are the ones that show people riding the dragons. The whole game looks CG... I just hope it plays well. I (and I think many others) have been burned by supposedly great Xbox games that turn out to be utter crap (and even SEGA has been included in that so far, although mainly Crazy Taxi 3 comes to mind). Smilebit seems to be really into Xbox. They also seem better at showing off it's power than most :). As for Saga... It's not like anyone had an easy time getting it. PD Saga, House of the Dead and Shining Force 3 were all released in the US, but only 5,000 copies of each (I think... it was a really low number like that). I've NEVER seen House of the Dead around, not that it looked so hot on Saturn anyway. I got lucky and picked up Shining Force 3 for 50 used, which turned out to be a good game...although the challenge was raised a little too suddenly. Saga is impossible to find unless you like dishing out $150 for used games. Too bad the Japanese version is so damn easy to find lol (new even). Saturn will always be a haven for 2D fighter imports for me... I buy little of anything else for it. Vampire Savior (otherwise known as Darkstalkers 3) on Saturn is godlike :D. The PSX version can't even begin to compare.

I agree with CWB completely on Tomb Raider. I'm still not too optimistic about the new one coming out. The only game I have actually bothered to get that I was really disappointed in was SaGa Frontier (I rented the average sequel). I think all Square needs to do to fix it is to actually make it fun. Who knows how much that'd take though.

Well... I don't know why I wrote perfect ::whoops::. It should be not perfect lol. I still am trying to figure out why I wrote that with the rest of that sentence... I must have been really out of it, especially considering I made it seem like the frame rate was something positive, when it simply isn't in this game. There are times when it is running smoothly, and then there are times when slowdown is tremendous. It's not like stuttery, like in Perfect Dark for example. Your cursor won't like jump around suddenly... But when you are running straight at a huge enemy ship the game plays like it is in slow motion. For some reason, it doesn't annoy me all that much though... it winds up letting you plan your moves better sometimes. But it does really pull you out of the action, and is annoying and disappointing. Especially considering the somewhat simplistic cartoonish visuals, despite the amount of action. I never have noticed the slowdown when you are fighting tons of little ships... It only really happens with the big ones, and the huge amount of fire power at your disposal (especially the firework bombs pictured above) slows it all down even more. I still think the game is worth trying. You might like it, and thankfully it has a lot of replay value. There are 3 characters to play as, who each do something different in each mission (as well as having different riding skills and special move). There are also bonus modes to unlock. The game itself has a lot of charm (especially with Japanese voices...the English acting is worse than I thought it would be), and I enjoyed the story (wasn't amazing, but it was quite good for this type of game). I meant to edit that post tonight, but you beat me to it :).

I think overall it's excellent. The black area that takes up most of the wallpaper looks great. Personally, the only thing I don't like is the sudden invert near the right side. It just throws everything off for me. I'd guess that's a matter of preference though. Nice job.

Instead of relying on trials and illegal downloads... Just get Gimp. It's almost as good as Photoshop and is open source. The whole thing is free. I believe Tucows has it. And if you want to spend the time MSPaint isn't bad. I know a kid who pulls some amazing stuff off in that program and he is only 14. Sure it's all line based with no weird filters, but he does an excellent job. I used to sit and draw things in MSPaint with only the paintbrush tool. I like it because it's so limiting, you can't rely on filters to save your ***. I attached the only MSPaint pic I did that I can find. Some people might recognize it from a book.

You move around a grid, just like in Advance Wars. The battles are also quite similiar. The actual story sequences and such are more RPG-like though. And Freeloader is still on prerelease at NCSX... So I guess you got a bit still. I thought it was coming out in mid-August. Animal Crossing is coming to Europe, but it has a really late release date... Something like late 2003. I assume because they need to translate into so many languages and adjust the holidays.

When I was little Flintstones and Jetsons were probably my least favorite cartoons around. I still don't like them that much. Live action shows... Well I will watch The Honeymooners if it comes on. It's obvious Flintstones ripped this show off, but somehow forgot to be funny in the process. 3 Stooges is alright if I'm really tired. I don't like most of the other shows mentioned that much though. I never liked and still do not like MASH. I can't get into it, and while I like some of it's more dramatic moments, I can't get into the comedy. I am not sure when the show was made though. Three's Company is hilarious once you are old enough to get most of the jokes. When I was little they flew over my head and I just thought the show was stupid. It's from the 70s I think, but whatever :). Monkees were good too. I liked Happy Days, and it's still so fun to make fun of the Fonz. He sure jumped over a lot of things on his bike though... the shark being the dumbest.

My best friend... well we have basically the exact same interests. I did get him into basically everything he likes now... such as anime and NiN. We're a lot alike, but at the same time I think that leads to a lot of problems. I argue with him more than anyone else I know, and while it never gets serious... it is very aggrivating. Other than him... I don't know many people that like most of what I do. And if they do, they usually turn out to be the type of person I wouldn't like anyway.
-
The game itself isn't that bad... But the graphics are bland and the sound is incredibly repetitive (almost to the level of the new Bruce Lee game). It's decent, but there are so many better games on PS2 to spend your money on.

I had heard that Nintendo had plans to release that GBA Fire Emblem that was in the works (I forget if it was released yet, but I think it was) in the US. SSBM would have been a good way to get people familiar with two of the characters at the least. However, since then I've heard they are still just thinking about it. If they don't bring it over, I hope some other company does. The upcoming Cubivore is the only Nintendo game I can think of that was ever made by Nintendo and published by another company (aka Animal Leader). So I guess there is a chance. I would think they would at least try, given the success of Advance Wars... which it is quite similiar to. Seems like Doshin the Giant is up in the air again as well, despite so many publications (as well as Giles Goddard who programmed the game) saying it would be coming to the US. Seems like it will at least hit Europe. I'm glad someone invented Freeloader :).

I barely remember the movie. I never read any of the books... But the TV show is great. I don't have Showtime so I never got to see it while it was new. They have it syndicated on FOX here though, and when I get a chance I watch it. It's incredibly well done for a show of it's type, and overall the acting is great. I hear Sci-Fi picked up the series and will show new episodes... I'll try to watch that if I get a chance :).

Favorite topics wouldn't be a big deal if people actually wrote things to describe why they like it. Then there would actually be some discussion. I've seen plenty of topics here that are just like favorite threads, but they stick around. Let the mods to their job. I don't see why we need 10 people posting "this is wrong" or "get a mod in here." It's just as useless as the favorites threads are in the first place.
-
Far and away, Ranma 1/2. It's been my favorite manga since I first read it, and my favorite anime since I first saw it. Too bad so few people even know what it is.
-
By far the best part of the movie was the the music. I don't know why the soundtrack had all this stuff by other bands.... All I wanted was the music from the actual movie. Only one song like that even made it to the soundtrack. The movie itself... eh. The stupidest part had to be when she kicks the zombie dog in the face haha.

There are mods that have on and off switches so they can get past Xbox Live. BUT it must be set to off in order to get on, at least that's what the talk is as of now. I'm not so sure if it's true, but people make it sound likely. And even if they did? They could play copied games. How would this affect anything else? It doesn't suddenly mean they could send viruses or do player kills in games that don't support them (I'm sure Gameshark will do this anyway). Just because a console can support emulation, that doesn't mean jack for this kind of stuff. People could play NES games (although poorly) on copied CDs on the PSX. Didn't hurt anything. The same with DC. It was hacked, and could go online (via broadband in some cases as well)... but it didn't hurt the online functions at all. People can play Zelda 64 on a PC, why not on an Xbox? They are practically the same as it is. Edit: From Cnet... "A Microsoft representative said Xbox Live would not include specific diagnostics to detect mod chips but would employ "military-grade security" to prevent hacking and other threats. The representative declined to specify any action Microsoft was taking against mod chip makers but said the company would vigorously protect its intellectual property." So apparently mods could be allowed, but they will be watching regardless. Either way, mods affect your system... Not other people's. Xbox Live is going to have heavy security.

From Yahoo Business: http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/020808/sfth019_1.html
Hail to the Master Chief! 'Halo 2' is Coming to an Xbox Near You 8/8/2002 9:06:00 AM Microsoft Game Studios Announces 'Halo 2' and 'Project Gotham Racing 2,' Highly Anticipated Sequels to Top-Selling Xbox Games NEW YORK, Aug 08, 2002 /PRNewsire-FirstCall via Comtex/ -- It's time again for gamers to assume the role of Master Chief, protecting humanity with a powerful armory of guns and grenades as they battle the relentless Covenant scourge. It's also time for gamers to be among the first to grab the steering wheel of a shiny new Enzo Ferrari and race through the streets of some of the world's most exotic cities. Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) today announced at the X02 North America event that "Halo(TM) 2" and "Project Gotham Racing(TM) 2," sequels to best-selling Xbox(TM) games from Microsoft Game Studios, are in development for the Xbox video game system. "Halo 2," developed by Bungie Studios, is expected to arrive on store shelves for the 2003 holiday season, and "Project Gotham Racing 2," developed by Bizarre Creations, is due in early 2004. "Halo 2," a sci-fi action/first-person shooter game, is a full sequel to the best-selling original and will continue the story of the Master Chief, a genetically enhanced supersoldier who is the only man that has successfully defied the Covenant, a coalition of alien races on a murderous march toward Earth. "Halo 2" surpasses its predecessor both in graphical beauty and combat intensity. The Master Chief and his marine allies return to battle the full complement of Covenant forces, as well as new enemies who have not yet revealed themselves. "Halo 2" also expands the Master Chief's already substantial arsenal with powerful new weapons, many pried from the twitching claws of defeated enemies, as well as more than twice as many drivable vehicles for exploring vast landscapes or speeding into battle. In addition to its epic single-player campaign, "Halo 2" will be playable online through Xbox Live. "Project Gotham Racing 2" returns to city streets with new fully licensed vehicles from major car manufacturers including Ferrari and Porsche. This engaging racing game sequel includes more than 50 vehicles as well as new cities, including Edinburgh, Scotland, and Hong Kong. More ways to earn Kudos will be available, as well as a new rating system, a more accurate way to rank players rather than just by the number of Kudos they have earned. "Project Gotham Racing 2" also enables gamers to play online through the Xbox Live service. "There's only one thing better than announcing a sequel to a million-seller," said Ed Fries, vice president of Xbox Game Content at Microsoft Game Studios. "And that's announcing sequels to two 1-million-unit-selling games. Our 'Halo' and 'Project Gotham Racing' franchises have redefined the shooter and racing categories around the world with innovation, great gameplay and pure fun. 'Halo 2' and 'Project Gotham Racing 2' will build on these legacies with awesome new features and the thrill of playing anyone anywhere using Xbox Live." "Halo: Combat Evolved" reached the 1-million-units-sold mark faster than any other Xbox game in North America and was named Game of the Year by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, Electronic Gaming Monthly and IGN.com. "Project Gotham Racing" was nominated for Console Racing Game of the Year by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. It joined the select million-seller club during the past month. At the X02 North America event, third-party publishers such as Electronic Arts(TM), Sega(R) of America Inc. and Capcom(R) showed off their holiday titles, and Bose Corp. is helping Xbox showcase the power of the console's unique Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound capabilities through the use of the new Bose Freestyle audio system. Gamers don't have to wait until 2003; they can get their fix of great Xbox games this holiday season with "Blinx(TM): The Time Sweeper," "Brute Force(TM)," "Kakuto Chojin(TM)," "MechAssault(TM)," "NBA Inside Drive 2003," "NFL Fever 2003" (available now), "Quantum Redshift(TM)," "Sega Sports(TM) NFL 2K3" (Sega(R) of America), "Panzer Dragoon(TM) Orta" (Sega(R) of America), "Shenmue II," "Sneakers(TM)," "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell(TM)" (Ubi Soft(R) Entertainment), "Unreal Championship" (Infogrames), and "Whacked!(TM)." But, this is the first true completely official announcement on it. PGR2 looks the same as the last one, but they have a year to improve on it. Halo 2 is looking good though. The main difference so far seems to be the lighting. It also seems like they are spending more time on the corridors haha, at least based on this first shot :). First four games are: - Chocobo sequel - End of 2002 - Final Fantasy Tactics New Version (tentative name) - This Winter - Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicle - Spring 2003 (to be published by Nintendo) - SEIKEN DENSETSU (tentative name) - Summer 2003 www.famitsu.com/game/news...4,0,0.html www.gamefront.de I'd assume the Chocobo game is related to Chocobo's Dungeon which was released on the PSX. FF Tactics is self explanatory. FF: Crystal Chronicle is the FF GBA game that will link up with a GC game (the article itself says so). And Seiken Densetu is better known here as Secret of Mana. The FF GC/GBA game was expected this year, but I guess it was delayed. Yamauchi was going on and on about how revolutionary this game is at a press conference. I wonder if it will turn out to be true.

Gaming Best Game Moments (Spoilers involved)
Semjaza replied to GhostofSalvtore's topic in Noosphere
I wouldn't consider this a "best" moment... But one thing I will never forget is the laughing scene in FFX. You know, the one where Tidus tries to cheer up Yuna by fake laughing... and then they both burst into giggles afterward. When I played through that scene I had to close my door, it sounds that damn embarrassing . Best? I guess whenever I finally get past something I never could before. The game that seems to be happening a lot in in recent memory was SSBM. It's nice to finally have an extra character or level. Another good example of that is Aggressive Inline... Some of the challenges are near impossible (GREAT game, get it!). I also liked several of the chapter endings in ED. The monk's chapter ending especially. It was so unexpected :). The biggest memory was finally getting my own SNES. It came with Zelda. I honestly have never sat in awe just watching a game (I had only heard the title theme and was already blown away) since I first played Link to the Past. It was that big of a deal to me heh. Looking back on it, I don't know why. Either way, it's still an incredible game.
