I know a lot of people who love goth that list Cure as a gothic band. It depends on what you know. Bloodflowers is worth checking out by them, as is Pornography. The Cure is one of the bands that created the framework for goth music, and I'd say most people that listen to goth would agree. It's hard to say if you know nothing but the singles or a few of their popular songs. You have to hear the entire LP. Marilyn Manson will always be hard rock to me, but it is my favorite band :P. Fields of the Nephilim have been around forever, and a lot of people seem to think it's a band you should know if you are into goth. Seems like no one seems to know who they are anyway lol. Black Tape for a Blue Girl seems to be the type of band you are talking about. I'll have to check those ones you mentioned to makre sure though. Perhaps groups like This Mortal Coil, Lost Atlantis, The Shroud, Folseid (I forget the spelling of that one), etc would be too. I'll work on downloading some of yours. But you seem to be thinking of a certain genre of goth (or at least have a different opinion of what true goth should be lol. I am not worthy to decide what it should sound like personally f :)), when there are like at least 15 different kinds. I don't put them all in little groups, goth is goth... if you can figure out what fits in it. It can be a fine line at times.

I guess you can pretend the orange Yoshi is spitting fire instead of puking up OJ... heh. I'll try to find what I can on the coins. When I do, I'll put it in this post. As of right now, I have NO idea though.

I'm always confused about goth. Some people tell me that The Cure and Cake are "gothic." Some people seem to think Marilyn Manson is too. I listen to all of these, and I never thought of them as gothic. When I think of gothic, I think of Fields of the Nephilim, Bauhaus, Black Tape for a Blue Girl, godhead (to an extent) and Christian Death... And even a lot of that can be divided up into even more sub-genres. Like godhead... they are conisdered Gothic Industrial if you want to get technical. Maybe you can list some of these bands you are mainly referring to? That would help me out a lot anyway. I still think Rob Zombie is quite a ripoff of KMFDM. Other than the whole carnival gimick... but that's me :).

I own both the Genesis games. I do think they are good, but I still don't get the attraction to them. Can someone tell me what is so amazing about these games? And don't tell me the humor as the only reason... I don't find either that funny. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just don't get it :).

Everyone that started with 7, thinks the new ones are best. Everyone that started with the original 6, thinks those are best. That's what I have found anyway. I'm never going to stop thinking that FF4 and FF6 were the best of the series... Until they top them anyway. And I believe the Onionkids were in FF3. Either way, the job system idea started in DQ3/DW3 :). Although, Square had added to it quite a bit. I can't see this series ever ending honestly. It's still doing well... but I think it will sound rather stupid to call something FF16 or FF20. Hopefully, they can change or edit the name by then... Maybe add a sub-title or something.

Pressure sensitive? Just set acceleration to the right analog stick. Personally, I think it's the best way to play. I even do it with GT3.

I know Piro posted this a while up... But SLC Punk is a movie everyone should see. I'm at a blank for movie quotes... But everyone knows the best quotes are from The Simpsons anyway ;). After Nelson and Lisa kiss... Dolph: "Oh man, you kissed a girl!" Jimbo: "That is so gay!"

It's all about $$$$$$. Spiderman got so hyped even before it came out, so everyone jumped on. Now that the movie did even better than anyone thought it would, I bet even more superhero movies are being planned. It also helped than X-Men did very well too. I'm glad Marvel is finally getting out of all it's problems. Personally, I could do without a Hulk movie. It could be good though. X-Men 2 should be great too. And I'd assume they are making another Spiderman. What I really want is a Ghost Rider movie. I'd definately go see that.

Now all we need is He-Man and Rambo, and I'd be set... Although, maybe He-Man already is on some channel? Dunno @-@. I hope this show doesn't look stupid now that I am older. I used to love Thundercats, and when I saw it on CN last year I was crushed. It was nowhere as cool as I remembered lol. Sometimes memories should stay memories.

This movie would probably do well no matter what... At least in the video market for sure. They will probably use unknown actors for that reason... That and they can pay them a hell of a lot less. Arnold supposedly is being an *** about T3, because he wants $30 million to do it, and the movie is already several million over budget. Imagine getting a bunch of people like that. As for hair... Lots of hairspray does wonders :D.

Another guy just contradicted all of this. The study saying games are bad is very misleading. The guy who wrote this works for a puzzle game company, and while he obviously isn't a doctor, he sure seems to know what he is talking about. From PGC: Videogame Designer Nalin Sharma Says Reporting of Recent Research From Nihon University in Japan is Misleading A recent study by Professor Akio Mori at Nihon University has found prolonged playing of videogames by children could lead to permanent disruption of their brain waves, causing them to lose concentration, get angry easily and have trouble interacting with others. Reporting in the UK media of this study would have us believe that we are nurturing a population of young people who will grow up with permanent brain damage, inflicted by playing videogames. Such a notion is "absurd", says Nalin Sharma, the founder of UK-based Puzzle Kings, a company dedicated to producing videogames that are as mentally challenging as they are aesthetically stimulating. "I'm sure that a respected academic like Professor Mori has conducted a valid and useful piece of research. It is impossible however to draw valid conclusions before the formal results of this research are published, together with details of the methodologies behind the study; which games were selected and how the sample population was selected. The results of Professor Mori's research are due to be formally announced later this year at a meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in the U.S. Speaking as someone who has played, designed and written videogames for nearly twenty years, I'm surprised and disappointed that some reporters have interpreted the preliminary findings reported in the Mainichi Daily News in an uncorroborated and sensationalist fashion. The reality is that not enough is known about the brain and how it operates to reach the sort of concrete conclusions promoted by certain elements of the UK press this week. For every negative study there are positive studies, highlighting the potential benefits of video games. A report by the New England Journal of Medicine in 2001 suggests that video games can help to develop ambidextrous brains in young children, who are otherwise drawn to activities controlled by their brain side preference. In this study, children who played video games a minimum of 20 minutes three times a day exhibited left and right brain co-operation, implying that they could be both logical and intuitive rather than one or the other. Other research has pointed to video games helping to treat attention deficiency hyperactive disorder (ADHD) instead of drugs. Using a "biofeedback" mechanism children's brain waves were connected to control video games so they could be trained to increase the strength of both high and low frequency beta waves. In fact this has now resulted in a commercially available device , based on video games. No mention has so far been made of the type of game played by Professor Mori's sample, which raises serious questions about the validity of the quoted conclusions. This makes me wonder how different genres of games would show up in terms of the brain activity they produced. I would expect a fighting game for example to produce different patterns of brain activity to a puzzle game. What would be the pattern if you compared two chess players: one playing a computer and one playing a human opponent? Is the phenomenon unique to videogames? If the reports in this week's press were to be taken literally, you'd expect the same patterns of brain activity in a computer chess player as you would in a Quake champion! It is not clear from the reporting of Professor Mori's study that any such distinction was made. As a designer, I see all video games as challenging puzzles to be solved with a combination of analysis, creativity and dexterity. If video games were truly destroying players brains then one would expect players to get worse as they played; the reality is that the more people play, the better they become. Undoubtedly their brains are developing some skills in a positive way. We live in a world characterised by the rapid march of technology. Anecdotal evidence suggests that children are often better than adults at learning the new skills required to cope with life in this environment. How many parents get their kids to set the VCR for them? Often video games are intended to elicit tension and fear as part of the entertainment experience. In this sense they are no different to watching an exciting film or television show. Where video games differ is they offer objectives and reward the player for their completion. This sets video games apart and is a key reason why they can be addictive. After playing a particularly exciting video game there is always a cooling down period much like leaving a movie theatre and returning to normal life - both offer the opportunity for reflection on an uplifting experience. The level headed view in the context of all these studies is that videogames, like any other leisure activity, should be enjoyed in moderation. Having failed to turn into one myself, I'll be surprised if videogames make zombies out of our children." Nalin Sharma's latest project is ZooCube, a high-intensity puzzle game that excites and entertains as it tests mental ability and manual dexterity in equal measures. Having won plaudits at E3, the games industry's biggest trade show, it is due for a UK release on Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance in August. Find out more at http://www.zoocube.net and http://www.puzzlekings.com About Nalin Sharma Although only in his mid-30's, Nalin Sharma has been active in the computer games industry for over 20 years. One of the 80's generation of self-taught programmers, he wrote his first commercial video game, at the age of 16, for the Commodore VIC 20. In 2000, while pursuing a career as a management consultant in the City, Nalin entered an early version of his game ZooCube in a national competition sponsored by Edge Magazine. It won hands down and received a sponsored international showcase at Milia. I have zero interest in Gameday. I remember when it used to almost rival Madden, now it's utter trash. I'm not a fan of Fever either. So it's between NFL2K3 and Madden... That's a hard choice. I'd probably pick NFL2k3 because Visual Concepts is actually trying hard to improve on their franchise. The game was great last year, and sounds even better for this year. Madden on the other hand, generally feels like it only gets a roster update and some bells and whitles. I already own Madden 2002 on GC, I see no reason to get 2003. Just my opinion though. Urlacher being on the cover is an added bonus :D. I can't even think of another defensive player that's ever been on a NFL game cover. Chicago Bears!

I find this so strange... Datel announced this before GC even hit Europe, along with another Pro Action Replay for GC. It's like no one noticed. Now all of a sudden, every site is posting news on it. I thought everyone knew about this thing? :D It's basically the only reason I haven't sent my GC to www.colorconsoles.com That and I don't want a stupid metalllic color. I'm still waiting for a plain, flat white :).

Seph, can you reccomend any good servers to play on? I haven't been to many good ones yet :). I lost my last character, so I had to start over (I have no idea how that happened). Sooo I'm a weak Level 3 now, but I'll go online someday.

There isn't going to be a new MGS every year. That would be impossible. Even Substance, which is basically an add-on is taking them a year to complete... and most of the game was already done because of MGS2. Kojima was gonna stop after MGS2, but the popularity of it apparently got MGS2:Substance going. I wonder how long he will stick with it, I hear he wants to leave it to another game designer (like Miyamoto has done with his games). Personally, I can't stand MGS2... but Raiden made it even worse. This option would have been better in MGS, because I would have loved to play as Ninja with his own side-story. It sure seemed like he had been through a lot as it was, so there was probably plenty to tell.

Anime Post Lyrics to Your Favorite Anime Songs
Semjaza replied to Utena_Tenjou's topic in Otaku Central
My favorite anime song is still "Voices" by Akino Arai from Macross Plus. The English version was also sung by Akino, but the Japanese is far superior. They are pretty easy to get online, but if you can't find them, IM me and I'll send them (IF you have broadband please! :)). Voices - Japanese hitotsu me no kotoba wa "yume" nemuri no naka kara mune no oku no kurayami wo sotto tsuredasu no futatsu me no kotoba wa "kaze" yukete wo oshiete kami-sama no ude no naka e tsubasa wo aoru no tokete-itta kanashii koto wo kazoeru you ni kin'iro no ringo ga mata hitotsu ochiru mita koto mo nai fuukei soko ga kaeru basho tatta hitotsu no inochi ni tadoritsuku basho furui mahou no hon tsuki no shizuku yoru no tobari itsuka aeru yokan dake We can fly. We have wings. We can touch floating dreams. Call me from so far-- through the wind, in the light. mittsu me no kotoba wa "hum" mimi wo sumashitara anata no furueru ude wo sotto tokihanatsu Voices - English The first word in my dreams, I could clearly see Planet Eden high beyond the skies. Beautiful and sad is this story I tell of the winged travellers eager. 'Twas one day the wind guided him where to go. Like an eagle high above he flew. Waving from down below, he flew out of sight, into the mystical darkness. Neither a smile nor a cry I gave when he left, feeling my spleen decline. And hoping one day we'd fly higher, back to the places we once shared. Where souls glide in silky waves and of gold Deep in the gulf such planet lies Surrounded by this universe of love and hate Confusion breaks through and dwells Cast a spell, from the old magic book. Set a path. In the black magic box, something strange will happen, it will take you so far. So try... We can fly. We have wings. We can touch floating dreams. Call me from so far-- through the wind, in the light. Someone came from the dark over from the stars. Protecting my heart from crying. Taken back by suprise my traveller returned. What went wrong, why did he change? -
Yeah, each level has 9 Shines... plus another Shine you get for collecting all the coins in the level. I found something about Yoshi and juice at Gaming-Age... and Nintendojo (blah). Apparently, the color of Yoshi is affected by what sort of fruit he eats. That pic is from Nintendojo, and they have some more as well. So if you ate an orange fruit, Yoshi would change orange and be able to spit orange juice. I guess all it is used for is to clean paint though, since you can't use your water pack on Yoshi. Of course he can still eat enemies :).

That's why you buy the DVDs of these shows. Then you don't haev to worry about CN's stupid practices. They are going to do this to any anime they show that gets popular enough (and could actually be edited down to a kid-friendly form).

Famitsu Cube (this is NOT Famitsu, which is the one most people care about) gave SMS a 36/40 (I believe a 10, 10, 8 and 8). It's not perfect, but their (the two guys who gave it an 8)ONLY problem with it was that it is too hard. Seems like a dumb reason to give a game an 8. I'm glad this game is going to have some challenge honestly... I'm tired of Nintendo's easy games since the N64 days.

She tries to dress punk... I guess. That's about all I would say is remotely punk about her. Her music is the same type of crap everyone is popping out today. At least she looks good... lol.

The thing about The Simpsons, is that some jokes and things carry on between episodes and some don't. Barney has been in Moe's and other places getting drunk since that episode. Another good example of something they basically just ditched was all of Skinner's Nam flashbacks as a Sergeant. They messed all that up by introducing the real Seymour Skinner. Hans Moleman has died countless times. There are quite a few more.

I have two favorite episodes. One is called "Sailor Mouth" and I think the other was something like "Spongebob Rippedpants." The second was basically about Spongebob ripping his pants over and over... for some reason I thought it was hilarious. Anyway... "Sailor Mouth." I'm not sure if Nickelodeon stopped showing this one or what. My friend saw it on TV once, and I got it off I-Mesh. If you saw it you would know why they might take if off. It's like watching South Park with Spongebob characters (well not really, but in a way :)). Spongebob and Patrick find a dumpster, and someone wrote "Krabbs is a -----." They don't show it, but it is obviously f--ker. So Spongebob and Patrick constantly say this word throughout the show since they have no idea it is bad. Everytime they say it, dolphin noises cover it instead of a beep. There are times when you can basically read their lips though. It's worth checking out.

No news on that yet. They don't have a definite release date in Japan either, just a vague Fall 2002 release. They will be sold seperately for $35 dollars, or in the set (with the 3 figures) for about $78.

Final Fantast 1 and 2 were just announced for PSX in Japan. Both are remakes of the original NES/Famicom games. FF2 was never officially available here, but it has a fan translation patch for roms. Anyway, the games themselves look almost exactly like the Wonderswan Color remakes that Square put out a while back. Apparently, the music will be done... and FMV will be added. They are available seperately, or together in a special edition package with some extras (figures supposedly).
