Originally posted by Solid Snake By the way, did anyone else here, as a first regard to the movie months ago, hear that everyone would be a mini-me version of themselves? Obviously we know this isn't completely true, but I am interested to know to what degree this is true. :blah:
I dunno if it's in the actual movie or not... But when I saw a movie at the theatre a while back (It might have been LotR, I forget), they had a preview for Goldmember. It was this really weird musical number where everyone was mini-mes. I think Austin himself was played by the guy who is Mini-Me in the movie. It was honestly the weirdest thing I saw in a while, but really funny.

These are two better pics of Mario using the "propel" nozzle as a type of water ski. I guess on land it acts as more of a boost pack. All the shots you really could want to see... lots are pretty new: http://www.planetgamecube.com/media.cfm?action=screens&id=283

I think the worst character voice I've ever heard is the dubbing for Ranma (boy-type) in the first few seasonsof Ranma 1/2. For whatever reason they picked someone that sounds like a 9 year old boy to play him, and it just does NOT fit. Luckily, they fixed this later on in the series. The show is far better in Japanese anyway. I also had problems with Nadia: Secret of Blue Water. Overall, the dubbing is great...but the main character, Jacques, seems to go in and out of his French accent randomly for no reason. It just drives me crazy. Best... Well, technically Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was never dubbed in the first place, as it's also in English in Japan. I think they did a pretty good job considering. I honestly can't think of any anime I'd rather watch dubbed though lol.

http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/one_hour_photo.html That's the page on One Hour Photo, which looks quite good. I read mixed reviews of the script, but it seems like the movie might come together. Robin Willams proved in Insomniac that he could play a crazy bad guy really well. I can't find much on Party Monster, but here is a preview I found: Set in the New York nightclub scene of the late 1980's and 1990's, this is the story of Michael Alig (Culkin), a Club Kid party organizer originally from Indiana, whose extravagant life was sent spiralling downward when he boasted on television that he had killed his drug dealer and roommate, Angel Melendez (Cruz). (Seth Green plays Alig's best friend, James St. James, and the film's narrator; Scarwid plays Alig's mother). The movie stars Macully Culkin, Seth Green, Mariltn Manson, Wilmder Valderamma (Fez from That 70s Show), John Stamos, Lucy Liu, Wilson Cruz and some others. Those are my 2 movies I'd like to see. Men in Black 2 and Austin Powers look good... but not enough for me to go see them. I still want to see Powerpuff Girls, but no one will go lol.

I found what seems to be another SMS commercial. It's 30 seconds, and starts just like the older ones...but shows a lot more of the game. http://www.nettendo.com/711comm.mpg It's only 1.45 MBs.

MS originally approached game developers to get support, and told them they were making a system that was kinda a set-top box, kinda a gaming machine. Of course no developer wanted in, as software wouldn't sell. So MS put the other stuff on the backburner, and made Xbox a gaming only machine. This was said by MS itself, and I read it at Gamespot quite a while back. So really, I expect Homestation/Freon to be just this. It is rather strange though, because it makes me feel like MS lied to game makers all along.

Well Xbox Live is set to launch in like November, so of course Xbox itself is going to be using it. I'm sure Xbox 2 will make use of the network though, and since they are setting this all up now..Xbox 2 should be online ready right out of the box. No waiting another year when a Ethernet card is included lol.

I think Gamespot is having a free month of videos, shots, reviews etc thanks to EB or something. Might want to look around there. And there was a supposed list of games on the Sonic Mega Collection, but it has never been confirmed. Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic CD, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic R, Sonic Shuffle, Sonic Drift (which was GameGear game not released in the US). Last I saw Sonic Fighters, Chaotix and Spinball weren't included. I also would like to see which versions of the Sonic CD soundtrack they include. Japan and the US versions had different songs. EDIT--- Sega has confirmed the games... And it's basically just like Sonic Jam. Sonic CD is NOT included :bawl:

Excited for the next part of the trilogy of Lord of the Rings
Semjaza replied to kelz_world's topic in Noosphere
I read the books back when I was 12 or 13... I had no problem with The Hobbit, and I loved it. But Fellowship of the Ring, ugh. It was going fine until I got to the chapter on the Counsil of Elrond. It must have been at least 80 pages long, and it was just talking and talking and talking about any little thing that could possibly be talked about. That chapter took me 2 weeks to finish because I couldn't stand it. The rest of the book was about a week total haha. I'm SO glad the movie compressed that part into like 5 minutes. -
I wasn't a fan of the second either... But I loved the first one. The opening music number was great, the whole sex joke thing at the end was so well done and the music video that Austin sings during the credits was great. I'll probably wait til I can rent Goldmember though, mostly because it's just looking like more of the same.
Originally posted by ZeroG214 Hmm it seems that not everyone knows how the geo-mod system is gonna work yet in Red Faction 2. Well let me share a bit of info for some of ya... that system will be improved such as more stuff will show more damage and that the system will be part of the gameplay. The best example is to blow up a wall to get to an unlocked or to continue with the story. Thats pretty much what they said about it so far. I don't know about blowing up a ceiling and dropping it on somebody but that sounds fun :p
Yeah, it does... BUT that is exactly what was promised in the first one. And once I actually played it, most of it didn't work how they promised. They didn't deliver at all. I remember shooting some stalactites (or whichever the ceiling ones are called) in a cave to hit some guys, using some big machine with drills on the end of it to go through a wall and blowing up a couple walls... But most of the time it didn't do anything special like I was lead to believe. They better deliver on their promises for Geo-Mod this time around. It had a lot of wasted potential in the first, and was honestly was more of a gimmick than anything. I'm still optimistic though :D. Anyway, VF4 is easily one of the better looking fighters on the system, if not the best. Like CWB said the modeling, textures and clothing movement are excellent. The game has some shimmering problems, and some strange jaggies (which I thought were basically dead by now on PS2). The only thing I am not a fan of are the character designs, there were only a couple characters that even appealed to me in that aspect. Most of them just felt really generic or are just not appealing to me. Some of the characters look really plasticy too, like Vanessa. I also like the gameplay...If you don't know what to do, it will be a button masher. But if you do know how to play it well, you will simply kick everyone else's ***. The game is mainly about smoothness and style. The level balance wasn't so good though, and for some reason they totally ditched the tiered arenas of VF3. The ring out areas are too small, and any area with walls results in quite a bit of juggling... Even so, after playing VF4, I think it is quite obvious how much DOA is a dumbed down version of VF. At least I think so :). And I agree with everyone else here. The chances of any other system getting Sonic games are slim to none. Although, there is some Japanese magazine reporting that PS2 is getting Sonic Mega Collection...but as of right now I'd see no reason to believe it.

Excited for the next part of the trilogy of Lord of the Rings
Semjaza replied to kelz_world's topic in Noosphere
I downloaded that trailer a bit ago, and I was surprised when it forced itself to be fullscreen like it was it's own program. I had no problems with chopiness though :). There is a 2 disc set for LotR coming out in like August. The 2 disc set, last I heard, was the only way to see the movie as it was in theaters. The special edition (aka the extended edition) is 4 discs, and that is what is coming out in November. The special edtion is going to have a bunch of new scenes added in. IGN says the movie itself is gonna take up 2 DVDs and be 208 minutes long. It's going to cost 40 bucks. The weirdest thing is that the 4 disc set does not include any of the special features the 2 disc set will have. So if you want everything, you're gonna be spending a lot of money :). There is also going to be a gift set for $80, that is going to include 2 bookends and some National Geographic special. This is it: -

It's coming out in November? That's sooner than I thought. The nice thing is that the huge special edition DVD set of the first movie will be out that month too :). Fellowship was one of the best movies I had seen in a really long time. -
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy Nah, it's a paintbrush. But, it's cool nonetheless.
Ah...It's hard to tell from that shot. Guess he's holding it upside down :). I guess some of the morphing stuff is still possible. I also think it's important to remember that this game seems to be using lots of motion blur and even depth of field...something that hurts the quality of the shots quite a bit. It always seems like things in the background are very blurry in any SMS shot Nintendo puts out. I'm glad that they at least bothered to fix the shadows, which were just simple circles before. It would be nice if this game had the graphical quality of Ratchet & Clank, BG&E and countless other platformers coming out soon... but it doesn't look bad. Really all I care about is that it runs well and is fun. Even movies of it seem to convey that it would be a blast to play, something I don't see too often. As for Bowser... I dunno. A new villian would be nice, but then again I don't want another Wart. Bowser was always the standard in Mario games, so I'm sure he is in this game in some way. That video shows off some sort of mechanical Bowser, so I wonder what that's about.

I'd definately get SMS, but on the other hand it doesn't come out til August 26th (or 28th, I forget). And with SSBM...well I am assuming you have one controller. If you want the full 4 player experience that's gonna ring up a bit over $100. Seeing as though you had to scrounge together the money in the first place, that's probably out of the question haha.
-
I still wish SSBM allowed you take pictures when you pause in ANY mode. I hate having to pick Camera Mode, especially since I always seem to get the best angles when I'm playing something else.

Well I don't think Akira or Soul Taker are rare... they are easily found at Best Buy anytime I go. Same with Armitage. Goldenboy is a great show, and can be somewhat hard to find. I was at FYE, and they stuck it in with the Hentai they had...so maybe people are lookin in the wrong places. It certainly isn't hentai, even though it has sexual themes and a small amount of nudity. Two other anime that I like are Junk Boy and Nadia. Nadia is found most anywhere, but I swear no one has seen it. It's one of my favorite stories. The more I watch it, the more I think Disney stole the idea of Atlantis from it. Junk Boy is incredibly funny, but is only on tape...if you can even find it. I also like Boogiepop Phantom. It's pretty morbid and bizarre, but I love it anyway. I keep seeing this other anime around too...called Black Heaven. Has anyone seen that? I'm not sure if it's worth pickin up.

Well now that the Memory Card 251 is out (the black one for $19.99), the normal 59 (the gray one) is $9.99 everywhere. Sounds like you really lucked out with the game :). I'd look around several stores when you want a new controller...The suggested retail price is now $24.99, but most places sell it for $19.99. I've seen it on sale for $14.99 at some places, which is a great price...especially considering PS2 controllers are $24.99 and Xbox ones are a ridiculous $39.99.

I never knew much about the Daredevil, but I can tell you right now that I cannot stand Ben Affleck. After his craptacular performance in Mall Rats, I don't know how he ever got into other movies... But anyway, I saw the preview at the theater recently... and it actually looks pretty good. Ben Affleck, for some reason, didn't seem like that bad of a choice when I actually saw it all in motion. So who knows... I still don't see how he could ever be casted as a super action hero, but whatever lol.

I get to go to class all summer. Lots and lots of fun :bawl:.

You can really never complain about jaggies when looking at shots. Sometimes it just happens, and Nintendo in particular seems horrible about capturing still frames. The game has always looked great in motion though, and the newer shots are finally showing that. A lot of the textures in this game look like handpainted watercolors and such, I wonder if they actually are. The imposter seems to be made of water... And in that one shot he is holding something that looks like a sword. It would be pretty cool if he was like the bad guy in Terminator 2 (I think he was called the T2-1000 or something), and could morph and turn his hands into weapons. Looks like they decided to go along with red eyes too :).
-
What exactly did you do to capture these? I figure I'll hook my GC into my video card and capture some images someday lol.
-
That's a new copy of Wave Race? Damn good price if it is. The only other cheap GC game I can think of right now (that was Nintendo made anyway) is Pikmin...which I think is $30 at Best Buy and EB.

I found Conker to be pretty addicting... But it was like a quick burn. I played it all I could, and had it completeted in 2 days. I never have played it since. Yeah, that game could be considered addictive... but it's not every something I go back to again and again like it was a drug (I put MGS2, DMC, and RE in that category as well). SSBM and Monkey Ball do that thought, and so does Tony Hawk (like CWB said), which I totally forgot about :).
