I'm gonna retract some of what I said. Apparently, whatever I had seen must have been super low quality... But I've been looking at Gamespot's screenshots and the game does look quite good. It certainly isn't up to the RE on GC, but unlike that game, this one is completely 3D. I'd probably compare it to DMC in terms of quality...which is damn good. http://gamespot.com/gamespot/filters/products/screenindex/0,11104,554411,00.html All but a couple of these are obvious in game shots, and apparently are from a totally different movie than I saw. I hadn't seen any of this. What I saw seemed to take place in a barren cabin, with some poorly done zombies. The shots here blow what I saw away, althought they don't show one enemy. I'm not sure why there was such a difference... it's possible what I saw was from an older version. I'll look into it. But anyway, now that I've taken that back... I will say again how cool this could be. One of the shots shows 3 players shooting at once. Co-op games that aren't FPSs are so rare lately, I cannot wait for this. But I wonder about some of it. Mainly how the player interaction will work. I'd assume RE would support the mic PS2 is getting, because you won't have time in RE to type most of the time. I also wonder how the character amount will work. Like if there is only a few allowed per game, and every character has to pick a certain one to advance the story... or if you create your own and wander around seemingly endless areas. I guess we'll find out :).

I've yet to see this in motion, but I had heard the animation is stiff. I don't know if there is any truth to that. But the screens look incredible. As long as this doesn't turn into a cinema fest like MGS2 I will be very happy.

The visuals do not compare to the GC RE. Not even close. The entire game is 3D, which of course would degrade the model quality. The game is moody, and the lighting and texturing is nice... But if you sat and compared models, RE Online looks almost laughably bad compared to RE on GC (especially the zombies). But I don't think that is so important. What I think IS important, is that this will mean online or split screen co-op RE. Something I have wanted for the series for a long time, and I think would be a great and natural evolution.

Tekken 4 hasn't impressed me as of yet. But then again I have always preferred 2D fighters and VF. As for Sonic... Well Sonic Adventure 3 obviously wasn't announced at the Sega show. But GC is getting the orginal Sonic Adventure and Sonic Mega Collection (which has nearly every Sonic game other than Spinball, Sonic Fighters and some Game Gear versions). Don't see why Sega would release nearly every single Sonic game created on GC and then turn around and putt he next one on PS2. But whatever. Red Faction 2 could be good. The problem with the first one, was that other than a few early areas, the whole Geo-Mod thing was next to useless. It could be cool if done right, espeically multiplayer. I would like to shoot the ceiling above my friend and kill him that way haha. And personally, I think Max Payne was the most overrated game of last year. So I couldn't care less about a sequel lol.

Anime Which anime would look best as a live action movie?
Semjaza replied to Juu's topic in Otaku Central
Honestly, I'd have to say no anime would be good as live action. But if I had to pick... I'd say Golgo 13 (which I think was already done). I'd like to see some sort of Vampire Hunter D live action movie. I don't see why they couldn't do a lot of actual special effects instead of animation for a lot of that. -
Does every hard rock/whatever station do Mandatory Metallica? It seems like it haha. I like old Metallica, but even that was never enough for me to really get into them. I know a lot of people who love them...and I know a lot of people who hate them. The majority of the haters seem to use that whole Napster excuse, which I think is long dead personally.

Eh, this thread is old...but the other NG thread linked to this one, so oh well. I totally expected this game to come to Xbox. The game is being done by Team Ninja, who in my mind, have more or less sold their souls to MS as it is. But anyway... I want to be impressed by this game, but I'm just not. Everything about it reminds me of DMC. And everything I liked about the video was done better by Shinobi on PS2 (aside from the graphics) I thought. Very little of this game reminds me of Ninja Gaiden, other than Ryu...and even then Ryu mainly makes me think of DOA now. I remember reading about this game on the Gaming-Age boards and talking to people about it in their file-sharing chat on DC++. Quite a few people seemed to think it looked like RE in real time. Personally, I am not seeing that. Ryu looks good, but the enemies just aren't interesting me (aside from those Jin-Roh looking soldiers with the red eyes, which are just cool as hell). I also noticed that half of the areas they showed with a lot of action were simple 4 walled rooms. Basically just squares with nice textures and lighting. I'm not a graphics freak, but obviously graphics is what Tecmo is trying to show off, and honestly...as a whole I'm not too impressed. It also doesn't help that I think the DOA series (which is Team Ninja's only recent game other than this) is the most overrated and shallow fighter ever. As of right now I have no trust in Team Ninja as far as gameplay is concerned because of that. I'm far more interested in Shinobi. I believe AM2 is in charge of that, and I trust them (and most Sega teams) a good deal.

I dunno, for games to be addictive to me...they have to have some sort of replay value. Something MGS2 and DMC simply do not have, at least in my opinion. The only addictive games I have played fairly recently was Frequency on PS2 (still my favorite PS2 game), and SSBM and Monkey Ball on GC. All have things to unlock, good multiplayer and you keep going back to get better scores.

Family Guy was "cancelled" a few times from what I get. I guess Fox brings it back every so often, but it's just not doing as well as they wanted. Last I heard Fox is wanting to get rid of it for good. Apparently, the creator of it is trying to get another network to pick it up. Last I heard he was trying to get people to write in to UPN to pick it up. Futurama is being cancelled too. Matt Groening said so in a recent interview. I don't know what Fox expected. They gave it the worst time slot ever, and half the time it was pre-empted by sports. Half of the new ones started 15 minutes in because of football games. Fox barely advertised it too. I think I only saw commercials for Futurama during Futurama. That's pathetic. I guess I can always hope for DVDs.

I had been reading about something at IGN the other day, and I assume this is more their speculation than anything... But IGN said that Link was on his way to see Arill (Link's sister who is introduced in the GC Zelda), when he gets taken to the land where Majora takes place. I guess Majora is basically considered a side story, and is the most recent game in the timeline...with the GC one being next. So after Majora, Link finally gets to see his sister. Although then she disappears lol.

You're supposed to be 17 for M rated games, but a lot of people don't check. I was carded for Conker's Bad Fur Day back when it came out lol. I really don't care about turning 21. I could get any drug or drink right now if I wanted to (my dad even built a bar in our basement, and it's loaded). I'm straightedge, sooo it's going to be like any other birthday heh.

I've seen it on Ebay for far less than that, and most people there are willing to ship worldwide. I think 90 dollars is rather insane, but then again I've paid up to $80 for imports... The last was Guilty Gear X on DC. I was pretty upset when they brought it out on PS2 much later lol.

Blah. I don't know if this can be included, but everyone should see Minority Report. Out of this summer otherwise... well it all sucks really. The only two movies I want to see are Party Monster (a strange story of a rock star with Culkin and Manson) and One Hour Photo (another where Robin Williams is the bad guy...assuming this comes out soon, I don't know the date). That's really it.

Really all I've listened to that is another language is Faye Wong (mainly the song "Up to the Brambles," which is my favorite), BoA and Akino Arai. I like Guitar Vader as well, but most of the songs I've heard are all in English more or less. Oh, and Dragon Ash. Cibo Matto has some french and spanish songs I love as well, but I guess that isn't really "forgein".

The nudity wasn't used to just show people naked. It was really only used when Motoko cloaked herself. The cloaking device doesn't work on clothes, so she had to remove them. The manga isn't like that though, so I'm sure they put it in just to have some nudity. I don't agree that the manga was more dumbed down at all. The movie only uses the story of the "puppet master". In the manga, the story of the puppet master was kinda the bookends to the rest of the story. So basically, the start of the book was about the puppet master, so was the end...but everything inbetween was about other things that their group did. So many things were brought up in that book it was ridiculous, and Shirow put in way to many details at times. So many that there is a footnote section that is several pages long. I prefer the manga... Mainly, because the anime changed the character designs a little and I didn't like them. And second, it changed a LOT of the manga, especially the ending. I also dislike the fact that Motoko sounds like a robot in the dub, as I never pictured her sounding like one...she is a cyborg, not a full robot. I have yet to hear the sub though, so it's possible she sounds like that originally as well. Either way I wouldn't like it. Still worth seeing though, as the animation is excellent and the story is still pretty good.

Nick has been trying to cater to all "child" age groups since it's inception. Nick Jr., or some version of it has been on for god knows how long. Normal cartoons and gameshows always work for most age groups. And really, ever since Snick started several years ago they have been aiming at teens. Even before this they had a lot of shows with teen casts, like "Salute Your Shorts" and "Hey Dude!". Salute Your Shorts was cool I thought, but Hey Dude! was ALWAYS a teen drama. There is no denying it. There were plenty of others too. I don't see how that's much different from today. All That fell apart. And I miss game shows... I think Double Dare came back, but it's nothing like it was. Personally, I always loved Nicktoons... Rocco's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy, AHHH! Real Monsters... I like Hey Arnold and LOVE Spongebob. That was my favorite cartoon since it came out, and all of a sudden he was popular.

I like the Gorillaz. The best part is that some songs have members of Cibo Matto in them :D. This band really reminds me of G-Love and Special Sauce and Butter08 though. A little too much. Doesn't seem like the Gorillaz caught on as much as planned though...although more people seem to know about them than the other 3 bands I just mentioned lol.

If you could be eneyone on Otaku Boards, who would you be?
Semjaza replied to anime goddess's topic in General Discussion
Originally posted by James I would probably be Semjaza Azazel, so I can feel young again.
Guh? Last I remember I was older than you. What are you talkin about? -
DC, or maybe it was Marvel, brough the Akira manga to the US quite a while ago. A lot of comic stores still have those versions, and the best part about them is that they are all color. The manga available now is like big compilations of smaller comics. $25 isn't bad, especially considering how much you'd spend on each smaller book individually. It's worth checking out...mainly because there is so much in it that the movie just couldn't put in. I found that whole part where Tetsuo gets his own gang thanks to his new powers pretty cool.

First of all, that price is rather ridiculous...BUT this is a game you NEED to own in my opinion. I was let down by FF7, and horrified by SaGa Frontier...but Xenogears restored a lot of my faith in Square. It is an RPG, and an incredibly long one at that. My first time through took about 60 hours. A lot of that time though is spent reading. This game has a LOT of text, and at times it get's rather complex. Lots of characters and such are introduced almost out of nowhere and you get little, if any, information about them. The story itself deals with "religion," but really only in it's most basic sense: whether or not god exists. The story is the game's strongest point though, despite it having some holes. I know a lot of people who consider it very boring due to its subject matter though...and the huge amount of text there is to read. The fighting mechanics were pretty cool at the time. The game gives you a number of points which you can divide among weak, medium and strong attacks...as well as magic and special abilities (each using a different amount of points, or AP). This results in some planning at times, and the use of combos. The cool thing is that you discover new combos as time goes on, so the fighting isn't anywhere near as boring as it could have been. Later on in the game you get to ride around in Gears, which are basically the mecha of the game. They also have their own fight mechanics and strengths...they don't really have combos, but they can learn new moves as you do and be upgraded. Graphically, this game is great. The characters and enemies are 2D sprites. The gears and environments are 3D. There is some slowdown, but on a whole everything looks great and is detailed well. I think there are some design issues though, because there is a point in a game where you have to climb the side of some temple without falling...it's a pain in the ***. The sound is also great. I'm not sure if they used the same filetypes as in the FF games or what, but at times it's almost CD quality. Sound effects are good, but the voice acting is HORRIBLE. If you like deep RPGs, this game is NEEDED. If you don't, just stay away. I don't feel it's worth $90 US though, as it is hardly that rare. At least here.

It's funny how much is being added to Metroid Fusion that is so unlike past Metroid's... and people are complaining (or were it seems) about Prime. Anyway... It seems the bigges thing in this game is fusion (well it IS in the title heh :whoops: ). Anyway, from what I had originally heard, Samus was fused with a Metroid... resulting in her current form. I guess this would be known as the "Metroid Vaccine" that Desbreko mentioned. It also seems that Samus' ship also fused with some sort of alien. I know this for sure though... When Samus kills an alien, it morphs into a strange form that looks like a blob I guess. In most movies and shots the "blob" was a reddish or violet color. Apparently, if Samus catches these blobs they will replenish her health, weapons, etc, by fusing with her (for example, Samus gets her Bomb ability by fusing with a defeated enemy). If she doesn't catch them in time though, they turn back into another form of alien. The only thing for sure that I see has returned is the Super Bombs. Everything else looks changed, and reminds me of games like Prince of Persia...grabbing onto ledges and monkey bar type things. Which is just WEIRD. How can she grab onto things with two hands, when one of her hands is a gun? As for the ending I don't know. Multiplayer simply doesn't fit Metroid in any way. Samus is a loner, and always was. Also what could it possibly be like? I guess you could both race to goals, or play co-op...but a co-op Metroid game would just be so demanding. And besides that video suggests the "other" Samus is an enemy. If it was just some sort of deathmatch, then blah. There just isn't enough room on the GBA screen with those big sprites to do that. It would just be you pushing fire at another person across from you. Not fun. There are other possibilites though. 1.) That's some sort of alien that can take on any form (which is already shown by those other transforming aliens all over the planet). 2.)It's whatever killed her in the first place, and it somehow can take her form. And I guess the most controversial of all would be that 3.) you aren't playing Samus at all. I don't quite believe this, as you do see Samus out of her suit when she explodes, just like in Super Metroid. But, last I saw Nintendo has yet to official call the playable character in MF "Samus". So who knows. Another explanation could be that it is another bounty hunter... But that doesn't explain the suit. Last I heard, Samus was given that suit by the Chozo...so really no one else would have one. Who really knows though? :D I cannot wait for this game. MF and MP both come out on November 18th :).

I bought Stuntman on a Monday, because I couldn't find ED anywhere (despite stupid Nintendo saying it'd be out that day). I personally don't have a problem with the graphics. The car damage is done rather well, and overall I think it's a little more impressive than GTA 3 in some ways... but GTA3 also had a hell of a lot more going on. The concept of this is pretty good, unfortunately in real life it just comes off like "do this and that EXACTLY how we tell you or you lose." Which is good and fine for music rhythm games, but just isn't for a car game of any sort. Like I said in another post a while ago, it feels like Simon Says. Things do get more complex later, but really it's just more of the same thing being thrown at you at a quicker pace. Overtake this, nudge this, hit that, turn here. The whole aspect of being a stuntman and participating in a movie is rather cool. And almost everything is made up for by the stunt creator, which simply kicks ***. I am not sure if I'd reccommend it or not in the end, it's kinda equal in it's low and high points. At least worth renting.

I played Ogre Battle a short while via emulation, simply because i cannot find it ANYWHERE. Where are people buying this game?? I'd really like to avoid buying it online. However, I think that's the best of the three by far. It's not quite as good as the Super Famicom/PSX versions, but it's damn close. Personally, I found Golden Sun boring. The graphics were beautiful, and the music was great. I just didn't like the story. I also didn't like the fact that you could basically just rush through every fight using your Djinn. I don't think it's bad, just vastly overrated. I never liked the first two BoF games either, but apparently I'm in the minority just like I am with Golden Sun. BoF3 and 4 were great though I thought.

I don't get this. None of the good points made here by anyone were even addressed. Just because MS CAN afford it, doesn't make it cheap. It's still eating away at their bottom line. It's fine to say that MS WILL make money, but you aren't saying HOW. Which I find strange considering how source hungry you were before.
