1. Hypothetically, I think it really depends a lot on the experience of the one asking the question. If a person is at some sort of crossroads where they've been with this person for a long time and the problem is something very relatonship-centric, I really don't know how valuable input from someone in their early teenage years could possibly be. Then again, I don't know why a person in that situation would be asking for relationship help on an anime message board in the first place. I know that if for some reason, if I were to ask for advice on the subject, I definitely would not pay much attention to people who haven't been in similar situations. The most important thing concerning that is that I would never ask for an opinion on the subject here in the first place lol. A lot (more like nearly every last one, I can't think of any contrary examples) of the relationship question/problem threads I read here are pretty general and anyone can answer them, really. I figure you're safe here. :D

Tetris

Considering the main game is more or less "endless" last I checked, I don't see how anyone could actually complete/win the game in the first place.

Tetris

I'd say the main negative of Tetris is how many stupid variations there are on it now. There was very little that needed to be changed since the original. It's one of those few games that was pretty much perfect in its original incarnation, aside from graphic and sound enchancements over the years. There was no need for Tetris 2 (aka Flash Tetris, which had bombs), Hatris or Wordtris. None of them are talked about anymore for a reason. The only decent Tetris "spin-off" was Nintendo's Tetris Attack, which is arguable because of its origins. I put that in quotes because the original was called Panel De Pon in Japan, but was edited and renamed for US release seemingly just to sell more copies. Otherwise, all I've stuck with are different ports of the original Tetris, like Nintendo's Tetris DX on the GBC. It's not my favorite game ever and I don't play it for long periods of time, but it's definitely not boring or lame. I think the people who dislike it most are generally the worst players lol. So yeah, I don't particularly dislike anything about the main game itself.
4.
I hardly ever get creeped out by games these days. The Suffering startled me sometimes when I was drowsy, and that's the only game that started me more than once or twice.
I don't know how scary I'd call that game, but it did have a lot of really cool horror-esque moments. The use of the Lancers, especially early on, was just so well done.
I loved that they would jump up and disappear in the rafters and pipes. You'd just hear their blades clanging around up above you, but you couldn't see them until they'd jump down and try to slice you up.
It's not really a spoiler, but I might as well be safe.
5. You'll have to PM me or IM me sometime and explain how these characters were interesting or engaging. I just do not see it whatsoever, but I know I'm in the minority of people who have played it from all I have read. Instead of a whiny teenage male lead you get Yuri, who I honestly just never felt was much better. Maybe I needed to play longer, but I think fifteen hours was enough. I'll probably pop it in again sometime. I'm willing to accept that I just wasn't giving it enough of a chance. I don't think the game was bad, I just don't think everything adds up to it being much more than average. It just never really grabbed my interest. Maybe I was in a bad mood that week, what do I know? lol I'm genuinely interested in what it is I am missing in this game heh. Anyway, I am very interested in a reply to any of my complaints over the game elsewhere since this isn't the best place. Regardless, it is a long game, so I guess it is worth suggesting in here. As for FF games, I really don't know why in the world it takes some people so long to finish them, but I guess everyone is different.
6. Even ignoring Green Day's history and importance over the years compared to MCR's decided lack of both, I don't really understand what is being compared here. They sound very different and have totally different themes. I also don't know why people would pick Green Day just so some random people on a message board won't think they're "emo" for picking My Chemical Romance. Maybe they just like the band more? It's certainly understandable, although people don't seem to think so in music threads at this site. Obviously if you say you like something more than someone else, you must be making it up to save face. I don't care much for My Chemical Romance, personally, although Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge is good. If other people love them, that's fine by me. I'm glad they have something they enjoy. At the same time, some of the negativity to Green Day here is disheartening. Half the crap people listen to now probably wouldn't even be getting airplay if it wasn't for Green Day's presence and influence over the next decade and a half. I mean, they made Dookie, Warning and American Idiot, what else do they need to do? I think they've easily proved that they're a good group. These types of threads just seem really strange to me. I half expect an Elton John vs. Jay Z thread next.
7. It sounds like you own (or at least have access to) the main systems, so I guess I'll name whatever I can think of. Unfortunately, I can't really remember how long it took me to finish these games, but I remember them being pretty sizable. Skies of Arcadia: Legends - I've heard people have spent 70 hours+ on this getting all the sidequests and stuff. I only bothered with a few, but I remember it being a pretty long game. Personally, I really enjoyed it... far more than on the DC thanks to some fixes. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne - The more you put into this, the longer it will take. You have the opportunity to spend lots of time getting and strengthening new demons, plus there are multiple endings and some hidden bosses/dungeons. If you want to do everything, this game will take quite some time to finish... Either way, I'd say the main area of the game is well over 20 hours. Disgaea - Mentioned already, but it's probably the best of the games from the same developer (La Pucelle, Disgaea, Phantom Brave). A lot of time is really spent making and leveling up characters. In addition to the main areas, each item and weapon has its own dungeon inside of it that can be used to awaken its hidden powers... Long game. Very long if you want to do every last thing. Dragon Warrior VII - This one is for the regular Playstation. As much as I love Dragon Warrior in general, I have to admit this game is pretty disappointing on many fronts. What it lacks in flash, however, it makes up for in its sheer amount of things to do. Many people wind up spending between 60 to 100 hours just to finish it. Might be worth trying. That's all I can think of offhand for consoles. I can probably list quite a few more another time. Neverwinter Nights isn't a MMORPG. A large portion of it is completely single player. I've not played it online, but from what I understand you kind of play under someone that controls the world like a dungeon master in the pen and paper D&D. I've never played it online, though, so I can't say much about it. I personally didn't care much for the single player, for whatever reason. There's also Fallout, Fallout 2, Planescape Torment, Divine Divinity, Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate 2 on the PC. They're all good games, in my opinion.
8. I don't go to classes pretty often, but in college no one really seems to get all that upset over it. A lot of the time the teacher doesn't take attendance as it is. If I don't show up, it's really just my own problem.
9. I don't know of any message boards that are more active at night than during the day. Even the most busy ones I visit are incredibly slow late at night compared to the morning and daytime... Regardless, most of the visitors here are people who are still in school and can't afford to be up till three in the morning when they have to get up at six or seven. Personally, the last thing I feel like doing late at night is forcing myself to read tiny text and write things. Edit - It's 2:27 AM and I'm still popping on and off of this site between other things. I'm a liar :animesigh
10. Phantom Brave is $20 new at Gamestop now, if anyone is still interested in it. I didn't bother to pick it up, personally.
11. I am sure this will be closed or merged with something else considering there really is no need for this thread when there is a PSP thread, a DS thread AND a PSP vs DS thread on this forum. In any case, they both offer something different. I think it's somewhat shortsighted to compare the PSP and DS directly as the DS was never meant to be a direct answer to the PSP in really any sense. Whenever they get the next version of the Game Boy out, then I think some good comparisons could be made. In the meantime, the DS is kind of just there and has its own little crowd of people that own and, I assume, enjoy it. Regardless, there are several games for the system that make nice use of the touch screen and some that aren't quite as interesting with it. However, I don't really think designing games with that system in mind is as easy as designing a normal console game with a specific button layout. There's a lot more to consider in terms of that. Anyway, Yoshi's Touch and Go is a game that makes great use of the system. There's about two dozen or so other games coming this year that I'm looking forward to that all make nice use of the DS's abilities. Some are coming very soon and others are more near the end of the year. In any case, I don't think either one should be discounted yet. I don't really think either of them have yet had a chance to do anything all that amazing yet in terms of game software.
12. It's not a sequel or a remake though. It's just Super Punch Out!! included as an extra and is exactly the same as its SNES counterpart. The only "new" thing is that you can play as a really, really ugly Little Mac in the main game against real boxers. It's called Fight Night Round 2.
13. The last Xbox 2 rumor I heard involving hard drives was actually pretty interesting. It basically involved a portable hard drive that would sit inside a shell you could carry around. You could just insert it into your Xbox 2 or someone else's, as if it were a normal memory card. It'd obviously be larger and hold far more, however. I don't remember much more about it. There was discussion on it being a flash drive of sorts, instead of a normal hard drive like in the current Xbox. Who knows. I guess we'll find out when they show the system for the first time on MTV in May... lol. There are supposed prototype pictures of the Xbox 2 controller floating around too. They're kind of in tune with the official pictures of the controller that have been leaked off of ourcolony.net (which is an Xbox 2 related official site). It also goes along with the rumors of there being no white and black buttons. You can see them here: http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000263039584/ Still, I hope there is more to them that this because they've basically taken the PS2 approach: making controllers that are almost exactly the same as the last generation.
14. People in those areas seem to take those things very seriously... at least some of them. I've read articles about people who play "professionally", meaning that it's basically all they do. Either way, 99.9999% of those bizarre cases happen in places like China or Korea. I doubt anyone outside of those areas (and really, even in them, it's not that common) has much to worry about.
15. Indie isn't a genre. It simply a word to refer to a band on an independant label. People seem to use it to describe more eclectic bands or fuzz rock, but it is nothing. There is independant hip-hop, electronica, jazz, rock, blues, country and everything else in the entire music spectrum. It's pointless to use it as a descriptor for sound. As for favorite genre, I don't have any particular one. I listen to groups that I feel fit into everything (yes, even country; many people refuse to believe there is good stuff within that). I think most of my favorites do fit within the general "rock" container, although there are all sorts of different styles within that.
16. Firstly, the GameCube is definitely not the top system in the US. Yet, neither is the Xbox. They're both extremely behind the PS2 worldwide. However, the GameCube isn't as behind the Xbox in the US as people lead you to believe. In Europe, the Xbox was pretty much put on wholesale, which can attribute to a lot of the sales. In Australia... well, there's no excuse, GameCube has done terribly because the company that is in charge of things there is apparently very poor. In Japan, the Xbox is currently selling about 100 units a week. GameCube isn't doing phenominal there either, but its certainly way, way beyond that on a weekly basis. Secondly, the DS is doing fine. It was out about a week longer than the PSP in Japan and is ahead by 800,000+ units. Its games more reguarly appear on the charts there and the system had a recent sales spike due to new colors being released. It's doing very well in the US (I think over 2 million units thus far) and while I agree with most that there aren't many great games on it (there's about four right now I think are worth getting), the line-up for 2005 is promising. It apparently is doing well in Europe as well. Infact, it was the best selling system launch in UK history. Nintendo is on track to beat its yearly sales predictions for the unit. The PSP apparently sold about 500,000 units in the US, which is great. However, Sony predicted they would sell through their entire stock in a matter of days. That did not happen. I'm sure some random idiot will call that it a "failure" because of that, but who knows what will happen. The GBA line is still doing really damn well and has little reason to slow down, regardless of the DS. The DS may play GBA games, but it certainly isn't a complete replacement for many reasons. In addition, Nintendo is still planning on a future Game Boy system which all speculation points to being at least on par with the PSP in actual power. Whether or not some specific person dislikes the DS is completely irrelevant to so many things. If that person doesn't like what it offers or what is on it, they simply do not have to buy it. They don't speak for the general populace. Every product has its group of people who like and group of people who don't. Nintendo's games are still selling decently. Not as well as on prior systems, but there's also not as many people who own the thing. Wind Waker sold very well, regardless of the general internet opinion that it is "ugly". Apparently that didn't matter much to the general consumer. Either way, the next Zelda is going for a more realistic approach. Nintendo is no longer top-dog in the console race for many reasons (many of which are completely their fault), but they're certainly not floundering. They're not even remotely in a state where Sega was when it was doing poorly. They get more direct profit from what they do than both Sony or MS in their gaming sectors. If they play things smart, they can push themselves back up into the forefront in terms of console sales, I think. Whether or not they will play things smart remains to be seen. Either way, I kind of foresee Nintendo becoming the Apple of the gaming world. Making things that might appeal to a smaller consumer base, but the consumers they have are strong and loyal. No one thinks Apple has "failed", even without the iPod's recent popularity. It's very possible to exist, do well and not be number one. People seem to have this idea that "No one I know personally likes Nintendo's latest ventures, so they must be doing horribly all over the place!" Things don't work like that with anything.
17. I've had very, very little problems. In fact, I'd say most of the jerks I've come across have been on console online games. Not really PC ones. I've played Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2004, Quake 3 (I was in a clan for this one), World of Warcraft, Ragnarok Online, Guild Wars and about a dozen other games online for decent periods of time. Honestly, for every poor person I've met, I've come across at least a few people who were very nice and wanted to help, team up or whatever else. All I can say about Starcraft and Diablo is that they're pretty old games by this point and people who still play them on battle.net are probably just going to expect everyone to know everything because of that.
18. For schools in my area, no one really takes the SATs. The ACTs are the standard here. I did rather well on mine (second highest in my school), but I don't know that it reflects much. I don't study for tests like that one, yet I usually manage to do well on them. By the time I got to college, I couldn't stand where I was; I transferred only to find myself hating that place too. Right now I'm somewhere I don't want to be and I'm just finishing it out. Needless to say, in that sort of environment you tend to not try very hard. I'm getting by, but I certainly could have straight As if I actually tried. I'm at an art school of sorts, however, and things tend to work differently than they would at a traditional college or university. Beyond that, I couldn't care less about how I compare to the rest of the country, personally. Tests are tests and because of their nature they can only concentrate on certain things. The ones I took certainly didn't prepare me for an art type education, nor did it compare me to anyone else in terms of talent in that regard. It really depends on what you want to do afterwards. Is "phenomenol" a chemical I've never heard of? :p
19.
Oh so it might be a laser problem? Crackers...-_- I'll try and see if my folks will even TRY the sending in idea.....But I'll try your "blowing on the open slots" idea and your right my PS2 has mad dust probs. Thanks for the info, both of you's! :D That makes me a little better and yeah I do put in CD's but not really. Just only 3 times have I ever used my PS2 for a CD player.
Well, I don't mean audio CDs. PS2 games come on both CDs and DVDs. The back of the CDs are blue. The back of the DVDs are either silver or gold. The PS2 utilizes two different lasers; one is for DVDs and the other is for CDs. If the CD games are working and the DVD games are not, it's definitely a laser issue. There's a variety of work arounds for that, but I personally just send mine off to Sony (it's free).
20. Your other games that work... are they CDs or DVDs? If they're all CDs, your laser might be having issues reading DVDs. In that case, you can call Sony and they'll fix it for free. You should get it back within a week or two with a new warranty. If your other working games are all CDs and DVDs... then I'm not sure. I remember reading that Xenosaga had more layers on its DVD than other PS2 games. Maybe it is a laser related problem with that as well.
21. Considering some people do not think this is possible, I don't know why I'm bothering to say it: I wouldn't change anything. Now, this isn't because I don't regret things or wish things didn't happen or whatever else. There's lots of things I would have liked to have gone differently or times when I wish I acted in a different way. However, when I think about this subject, I tend to think mostly about what it would affect outside of itself. So, for example, my dad died when I was younger. Sure, it was terrible at the time (I gradually got past it). Would undoing that be a positive thing? I don't really think so. As much as I have missed him at times, I'm happy with my family life now and I wound up with a great step-father (yeah, he can be bad at times; who can't be though?) and two little brothers. If I undid that, I don't know where I'd be right now or how anything else would have wound up. Replacing a bad thing with a good thing won't necessarily have good effects down the road. Your future after that point would be completely reset as well. I apply that idea to everything. For all the crappy things in my life that have happened and all the crappy things that still happen, I am happy with where I am right now. I wouldn't want to risk ruining that by changing other things... even if I think it wouldn't hurt. Things are more connected to eachother than most would initially think.

Doom 3

Not to get off-topic, but I've been looking forward to the new Area 51 for months. I can't wait for it to come out, although I'll probably get the PC version.
23. Maybe it would be possible to allow the member to delete their own thread within a certain amount of time... say five or ten minutes or less. That way they can't just randomly delete a thread with 40 replies to it. I don't know if that is possible or not.

Doom 3

Yeah, I had since read about the other changes. Honestly, I hadn't kept up much on them since I already had the PC version. For what it is, it does look decent. My PC can handle more, but it still seems to be one of the better looking Xbox games (even if I still think everything looks rubbery). The co-op thing is awesome and probably would be enough to make me buy the game. Co-op in even the original PC Doom is amazingly fun.
25. You're not going to understand women. I don't understand women, but I'm seemingly doing just fine. I don't understand most men either. Or most people, for that matter. Just wander around aimlessly, be a decent person and whatever happens happens. Most of it turns out fine in the end. Advice in these threads is rarely useful beyond common sense things. People are all different. If there was some magic trick, no one would have any problems. However, in regards to the initial post, I can't directly answer those questions. I do know some girls I can ask. If they are willing to answer, I'll post them in here lol.
