1. You can find Starcraft at pretty much any department store under the sun for around $10. It's worth picking up. There's a female villain in Shadow Hearts 2 that's not too bad. Not to mention the lead villain from Parasite Eve. They're out there, but unfortunately they're mostly from games I've not played in a long time and thus I couldn't tell you much about them.

Wow...

Personally, I can remember at least a few closed threads that had the very same "Wow this place is different!" phrase. I don't think that's a factor here. I honestly wouldn't care if there were tons of these threads, but considering past examples it's kind of hard to not take it as favoritism. That's another argument for another place altogether, I suppose.

Wow...

I don't know, I think it's a pretty valid question. All I'm seeing here is that it really depends on who knows you. I've seen other threads like this offering no more "discussion" value that were closed instantly. Adding them all up, if they were all posted at once, even then they'd have no risk of burying Otaku Lounge. It's not hard to maybe find that to be unfair.

Ratatouille

It's nice to be reading good things about this because, honestly, I have not been very enthused by the previews... Coming off of Cars, I haven't found myself very excited about their projects in general, which I realize is shortsighted. Brad Bird being involved pretty much guarantees to me that it's worthwhile, though.
5. The Boss's nipples almost poked my eyes out. :animeknow Edit: Ha, good response.
6. You don't need death threats for a threat to be considered serious enough for legal recourse anyway. Part of the point of such things would be avoid even getting on the level of threatening murder to begin with.
7.
Semjaza - I owe so much to Tony. At the very least, my website, a good portion of my music taste, and probably whatever "coolness" I have. Our opinions are similar on a lot of things, but he's always more well-informed than me. I kinda look up to him like an older brother.
Nah, I'd just beat the **** out of you. Or would I?
8.
Actually, I apologise. My post was meant to be lighthearted, but I can see how someone might be hurt or offended by it. This forum exists so people can ask questions, and they ought to be able to do so without fear or ridicule. My apologies to Saikoro, and thanks to Viewfinder for calling me on that.
+1 to you. This was something I was happy to see, even if it wasn't something you intended.
9.
Quick, what is it on a lap-top without a number pad???
Uh, it's the same. You just use the numbers above the letters on your keyboard. Is this a riddle? How is a raven like a writing desk?
10. I don't know, I kind of always think about the Hamburglar.
11.
I already new that. What I want to know is if there will be an Image to go with the "View Post" button next to Allamorph's name in my quote. The code looks like this: {QUOTE=Allamorph;781169} The 781169 bit is the Post number, and it's the cause of the link in the quote. But I want to know if we can/are going to put and image or button there instead of the box with the "x" in it?
I'm not involved in the updating of this site whatsoever, but I think the safe thing to say is "yes, there will be an image". They've updated through several versions of vB. Supposedly starting at 3.0.3. Currently it's at a 3.6.7. A lot of new things have been added along the way and that includes things that have new images associated with them that never existed before. They're calling images that weren't ever used in 3.0.3. It just involves making them and uploading them. I wouldn't be very concerned about that being taken care of sooner than later.
12.
The power chair commercial. It seriously gets on my nerves. Especially the one with all of the old people singing.
I think it's kind of funny. I especially like the older one where the two old ladies go to the Grand Canyon and yell out "HOVAROUND!!" and listen to it echo. Good stuff.
13. CHW: Not really, lol. Basically you're kind of just looking for something that looks like a headphone jack on the radio's face.
Well, for mother's day, I bought Mika's album: Life In Cartoon Motion[/b']. It's an enjoyable album, I must admit, so I ripped it for myself. Na-nah. She was very happy with it, so once again, I'm the best son in the world.
This is actually quite a good album. Very diverse. Sometimes it reminds me of Junior Senior, but at other times it's almost radically different. I bought it as an import because at the time it seemed like no one was interested and I figured it wouldn't be coming out here. I was very wrong, unfortunately and spent too much money on it lol. More than $10 like it is now, anyway.
14. There is a plug-in that handles that, but to beat a dead horse: if anything happens with it it won't be until the next version. OB currently runs on a rather old version of vBulletin that doesn't see any support from plug-in makers any longer. There's not even a section for this version on vBulletin's site any longer. I imagine a lot of nice changes will come to this site simply through vB being updated, so that's something to look forward to.
15. I shall be renting this puppy. I've been looking forward to it, but like most FPS games I know I'll finish it in like 8 hours and I'll barely touch the multiplayer. Yay for Gamefly. By the way, if you want that 2K Sports Darkling (he uses a 2K Sports bat) you can put this number into a phone early on in the game: 555-4263. Screw pre-ordering at Gamestop. What would be really funny is if someone picked up if you dialed 867-5309. I know if I was developing a game I'd stick it in there.
16. Actually, I'd say the worst ones are the ones you actually get in the mail. As in your mailbox with a stamp on it. I got one not too long ago that was ten pages long and asked me to send it out to a dozen of my friends. Like I don't get enough junk mail already.
17.
Okay this is a thread for those poor misguided souls (like myself) who still buy CDs instead of having our friends burn copies or own iPods or MP3 players (My mom's thinking of buying me an iPod for my birthday though I don't know why) I can't help it, I'm in my car more than I'm anywhere else and I need my CDs.[/color']
Most modern car radios have a line in jack that you could use for this. Mine didn't have specific iPod support, but a simple cheap cable would allow me to really hook any audio device into it and play through it. It's obviously possible that your car doesn't have that at all, but it's worth mentioning. I'd almost suggest buying an inexpensive radio that does have it because not having to worry about 15 CDs in a car is very nice.
18. I don't tend to just buy CDs, so I'm including vinyl in here too... why not. Marilyn Manson - Eat Me, Drink Me :: Obviously not for most people by default, but I've been a fan for a long time. Pretty solid album, a handful of very fun tracks (Evidence, Red Carpet Grave). Not comparable to earlier output in importance or even sheer listenability, but I don't think it has to be. Battles - Mirrored :: Came out last month, but I just picked it up. They're basically a weird math rock band. I'm not entirely sure how to describe it, but it's good. It's different from previous albums if you've heard them before, mostly because of the vocals. Not for every one, but if you like mostly instrumental, slightly-experimental rock music it's pretty cool. Bollweevils - Heavyweight :: Picked this up on vinyl, already owned it on CD. Couldn't pass up a sealed copy for $5. They're a a somewhat infamous local Chicago punk band that's been broken up for quite a while (although they've done at least one reunion show). This is a live recording, but it's solidly recorded. Plus it has a cool Bad Brains cover.
19.
Have you ever been in a situation that you feel like you are constantly picking up the slack of someone else? My personal situation is my bf, he hardly cleans and spends all his off time playing video games. I love games but there is a time and a place, he just won't help out and if i bring it up he says i am just causing problems. GRRRRRR
Dump him. I would. Then again, I'm a known a##hole (apparently it doesn't censor this word?). With my girlfriend and I things are kind of just always handled as a team, so perhaps I'm just lucky. I have to say that usually the only time this sort of stuff really got to me was during college. I have always considered myself supremely lazy when it comes to school work. I skip as many days as I possibly can. However, when I know my actions will affect someone else's grade, I'm on time, do what I can and always show up. You'd think others could show the same courtesy, but I've often found it to apparently be too much to ask of them. It's bizarre how often I wind up taking charge of these things so we can actually finish them. I thought I was bad, but I guess there's a lot of people who are worse lol.
20.
-Kuja[/b'] from FF9: A terribly underrated antagonist for whatever reason, possibly due to the status of the game itself in relation to it's sister games. In any case, Kuja is extrordinarily clever and has the mental game down, which is hands down the most important part about being a villain. You have to be headstrong, you have to be intellegent, and you have to be several steps ahead of the good guys. A brilliant mind makes that all possible. He may not be as hands on as many other villains out there,
As lame as a reason this might be, I honestly think the number one, biggest factor as to why no one really seems to like him is how he dresses.
21. I don't know, I felt kind of bad for Ganondorf at the end of Wind Waker. His closing quote was quite good. Storywise, though, I don't really think there's much you could say about him that wouldn't just be repeated when you write about another game. It's generally the same basic theme over and over again.
22.
Not really. . .some people you know, just like to state things as they are and not piously dress them up in fallibility. It is possible. Also, the thread is meant to be. . .listen for it Sara. . .humorous. It's meant to have much deriding. Much cackling. Laughing. You know what I mean?
Exactly. I mean, in my post, most of that stuff didn't happen to me at all. They're definitely things that have happened, however, that I have seen. And honestly, if they were responses to a worker who wasn't being "polite" I wouldn't have listed them in the first place. Personally, when I worked retail I was as polite and as helpful as I possibly could be and considered each and every person as someone different. That this new person wasn't responsible for what the last ridiculous person did. Most of the time it was fine, but not every one responds very nicely to anything. They too have their own reasons as to why their days were bad and chances are it has nothing to do with you. At the same time, it's hard to work in these jobs for years and not start thinking as customers as a singular, amporphous entity and it's harder and harder to keep the things to yourself. So I don't know, the thread asks what we "hate about retail". I don't think people should feel lame or stupid because they're responding to it in that way just because it's the Internet. From the workers perspective, bitching about these things to your boss certainly won't help, so I don't see the problem in venting them. People aren't going to talk about flowers and sunshine all of the time.
23. I can't speak for anyone that has posted, but unless you have actually worked retail I don't think you have much to complain about. You can't blame workers for being under trained, or underpaid or over worked. In my experience and the experience of my friends, there are quite a few out to a retail store is extremely demanding. Perhaps not the average, but I'd have to say in general one bad person can ruin anyone's day... work or otherwise. They think because you're making 6 to 10 dollars an hour you're still expected to wait hand and foot on them. This isn't quite as bad at major chains, but it can be pretty major at smaller boutiques especially. Perhaps you aren't these people, but you have to take into account that you are not the only person this person has dealt with today. For all I know some of these people just closed last night and opened this morning. Or they just got finished helping some ridiculous couple for two hours who didn't wind up buying a damn thing. Or some person who didn't speak English got incredibly upset at them for not understanding what in the world it was they wanted. Most retail jobs do not properly train anyone. I know numerous people who have worked in electronics or jewelry departments with not a word from anyone else about how anything is done. Chances are the person removing your watch links or changing your watch batteries at the Jewelry department in, say, Target, has never actually been shown how to do it properly. There's an even higher chance that none of them were given the proper tools to do so and likely never will be given them. There's also the whole "We'll change your hours when we feel like" aspect of a lot of these jobs. The constant fear of getting a write up if some ridiculously demanding person doesn't get what they want and goes to complain. The fear of people ripping you off at the cash register with tricks. Explaining to people that you can't return opened CDs just because you realized two weeks later on there's a "parental warning" sticker on it and having them throw it at you. Tons of politics from people higher up in the store threatens every thing you do at every turn. Horrible benefits, vacation and every thing that entails. The fact that when the store closes, they often have the workers stay up to FOUR hours afterwards fixing things for the next morning... none of which is factored in to their hours ahead of time (basically, forget 40 hour weeks in a lot of cases, but don't count on overtime pay). For many of the people there, this will likely be their job for the rest of their life in some regard. Thinking about that alone is insanely depressing. So I don't know. When I go to a store and I have to wait in line longer than I like I can't exactly get that pissed off about it. Certainly there are ******** out there working, but there are ******** out there shopping too. I thank god time I think of my work situation that I don't work retail anymore.
24. I'm extremely, extremely tired of commercials with narrators that sound completely and utterly bored. Somehow Dunkin Donuts has taken someone as (arguably) dynamic as John Goodman and makes him sound like a man on the verge of jumping off a bridge but is too lazy to do so. This was especially bad when Dunkin' Donuts had those commercials where people sang awful songs and looked at the camera like "WTF am I doing this for". It got to the point where I just had to change the channel the second I saw the things... Which was quite often. And it's not like I watch tons of TV. Sometimes I don't even really watch it all week. You just get bombarded even within 30 minutes sometimes. The new ones with Rachael Ray are almost worse.
25. Method 11: Be a mod Being a mod pretty much guarantees that regardless of your level of intelligence, strength of your sense of humor, writing ability, ability to use ridiculous font choices or general hygiene you will be liked and lauded by some group of people. Even if they don't understand the main point of your argument (assuming there is one at all), your very existence will be appreciated on some level. Expect numerous pointless PMs and IMs from out of the blue that are likely not welcome at all. Weaknesses: Chances are that unless you're actually, genuinely likable this will disappear along with your title if you ever resign. Mentors: Every mod ever. Method 12: Write an Awful Lot If you write enough, most people will not have the time to actually read every last word of your post and thus assume you're the smartest person in the thread. You've automatically won whatever the debate entails by default in the eyes of more than half of the userbase and since popularity is all that matters you've essentially won at The Internet. Mentors: Fill this in yourself.
