1. You're speaking as though anime invented all of this, when it just obviously did not. The biggest influence on this film is obviously asian action films and the various exploitation genres. I'd not attribute all of it to anime at all, especially after his history with films of that type (Iron Monkey?). And he did not make Hero. The other thread about Hero says that too, despite all the ads saying "Quentin presents a filmy by Yimou Zhang". He's just helping localize it here. Any similiarites to anime in that sense are inconsequential, as they have nothing to do with him in the slightest. I think people here need to search out films like The Legend or Riki-Oh (note, I'm not saying they're all necessarily good lol... most aren't). Then they'd see that these sorts of films don't begin and end with Kill Bill or Tarantino. They've been alive and well for a good time now. So basically, I think you're just tying too much together.
2.
I've heard the museum's owners say that they don't think that they will end up trying to sell it, since that would be way to obvious.
I've read that elsewhere and I don't believe that for a second. Obviously they can't put it on auction or up for general sale, but people would be foolish to believe that no one would be willing to buy it in this world. They could sell it to some foreign rich guy and no one would be the wiser.
3. It's strange that people are making such a huge deal about all of this. Do people realize how many "priceless" artworks are stolen and how many hundreds are still completely missing? There's nothing new or unique or rare or romantic or anything else about its theft. It happens all the time. This one just happens to be one that the general non-art-museum-going public can recognize.
4.
I recall a friend commenting on website design, and how a webmaster designs for two people: himself and his audience. At this point, I think you are only possessing half of that balance. When you fully launch, some people may like the gold-on-gold, but some may suggest a darker color. You do have a guestbook; they very well may sign it with that comment. When that time comes, are you then going to at least try to achieve a balance between the positive (that you accept) and the negative (that you disregard)?
I think the most obvious answer to this is "You can't please everybody." Regardless of what you or I think of the web design, there's no one view of it that will be absolutely correct. Do the colors work okay together? Yes, they do. Do you personally like them? I'd say no. Does that make them wrong? Not really. If it's what he wants to do and it's not outright blinding, I figure that's plenty. If I listened to every little thing people told me to do to my sites, I'd quite honestly hate every single one of them. It's happened before.
5.
Two questions. Why was the "post your picture" forum done away with version 7? and... Are members allowed to post there pictures and if so what forum?
1.) It was a spam fest and it was removed far before Version 7 came along. 2.) If you want to post pics, you're best off doing it here: http://www.wrappedinplastic.net/obpics
6. The iPod battery replacement doesn't cost that much. It's $99. It also doesn't have an exact date limit like that. It depends a lot on how much you use it and how you charge it (there's specific ways you're supposed to charge those types of batteries, but no one does it). Other places will do it for like $60, and you can just buy the batteries yourself for around $30. Lithium Ion batteries aren't cheap. Don't believe every lame thing you read on the internet. Too many people do that here as it is.
7.
But if what we have[/i'] isn't good enough.. then fine... you don't have to be on my list :(
Oh it's plenty, old chum.
8.
Tony (semjaza) would most definately be brothers... even in a metaphorical sense.
When did this happen? lol Anyway, currently I'm only "married" to anatema, as far as I know. I forget my exact relationship to Asphy.

KoRn

Does anyone realize what exactly freedom of speech entails anymore? I think people need better lessons on the Constiution. Not to mention, it's not like his post said anything of value in the first place. You don't like the band, now I'm enlightened. Good riddance. Anyway, Korn isn't really a band I can get into anymore. I've had no real interest in their last couple of releases at all. Issues happened to come out at a time when I was still somewhat into the style Korn provided. Strangely, it seems like I'm one of a handful of people who even likes that album. Even if people hate Korn now, I think they'd be foolish to ignore the absolutely massive impact they had on popular music when they debuted. I still listen to their debut LP from time to time. I honestly prefer it to a lot of their later stuff, mostly because it has a lot more of a hip hop vibe with a bit less angst than they wound up putting out later. It's still pretty enjoyable.
10.
It's not a mini disc player, but an actual MP3 player and I got the brand wrong,
I was referring to the guy who made the thread, actually. Sorry about that lol.
11. I'd read through the Zelda manual and see if it has another way to save... on the NES, a second controller could be used to enter the save menu, I believe. They must have come up with an alternative for that. I'm kind of annoyed that Nintendo didn't bother to fix the errors that were present in the NES games. The slowdown and such is present in the original NES game as well and happens in the same places on the GBA version... same with the PCM music (it's not midi, really). I can't justify paying $20 for these games, honestly. Especially when the manuals are black and white (Nintendo has NEVER done that, so lame) and they don't have any of the collection value that the awesome Japanese sets have.
12. They got you all talking about it. I'm sure that's 99% of what they were trying to accomplish in the first place. Everything else just follows.
13. Sony MiniDisc players are not MP3 players. Anything that is copied onto them is automatically converted to ATRAC, which is why they require specialized software like Sonic Stage or OpenMG. I have a Sony NetMD N707, but my MP3 player is an iRiver iHP-140. It's a 40 GB hard drive player and I'm quite happy with it.
14. Like it or not, idiotic people come here. What they make is quite simple: idiotic posts. They don't just infest this area of the boards. They don't just infest OB. They infest the entire internet and eat at its foundation from the inside out. As such, expecting two people to compete with the honestly limitless amounts of people who can easily apply for this site is a bit overzealous. OB is FAR larger than it was before terra and Arcadia were given their positions. Different people come here, as different people are attracted to this site due to the fact that theOtaku.com is more of a posting/blog hub than an anime site as of late. I don't see what the big deal is if there are some poor recruitment threads. They're either fixed or closed before they even make it into the arena area at all. If these RPGs made it into the Arena unscathed, then I think there'd be some argument here... but considering that isn't the case, I don't know what can be done without acting like brutal, mechanial thread closing beasts.
15. I've not seen any of your 3D work in a while, but I wanted to say how obvious your improvement has been. I can see a lot more polish and such in this. You've definitely gotten better. The lighting in the final shot is very effective. I think it's a bit too dark, but it still looks cool.
16. Well, this is hard to pick. I don't know if my favorite bands themselves were as radically important as other bands... so I'm just going to stick with what I consider the most important ones. My top 3 -David Bowie In my mind, Bowie isn't just a "hero" of music, is the undisputed god of rock. No other artist compares. To me, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust is the best album in existance, not only because it's just a great record, but because of the ideals and spirt it embodies. Plus the whole image that went along with it, which was really just completely opposite of every other band at the time. Many other records to follow were possibly more impressive from a production and talent standpoint, but that's still my favorite. I don't think any other artist can compare to Bowie's output in the 70s and early to mid 80s. The guy still does good material even now. I'd also like to mention that I'm also including his back-up members along with his name, such as the amazing Mick Ronson. Ronson is not a name most people seem to know now, but he's highly respected for very deserving reasons. He did a lot of string orchestration and guitar work with Bowie in his heyday. -The Doors Jim Morrison is/was a huge pop culture icon for a reason. In many ways, you could call them the first punk band, not in sound, but in ideal. That's really what seperated them from nearly every other band of the 60s. -Pixies The Pixies were one of those bands that were "Alternative" when alternative wasn't even a known genre. They've influenced more groups than is probably readily apparent, including more popular acts (in sales anyway) like Nirvana, The Toadies, etc. They broke up a long time ago, but recently reformed for a reunion tour. I have my tickets for November and I'm very excited heh. While I like Queen and respect Mercury, I don't know why they're that highly praised at this point. For every amazing they have, there's another dozen of theirs I can't stand listening to.
17. I go to school all year 'round. It's quite fun...
18. The original is a classic. I think you should see it either way... but yeah, I'd say that it's scary to most people. It's definitely in a completely different league from tripe like the remake of Ghost Ship.
19. The best one I've seen was on Dexter's Laboratory. There's an entire episode that does nothing but poke fun at anime. I particularly remember a scene where the characters mouths just kept opening and closing while they said about a million words (most of them not needed) in a short timespan. Happens a lot in localized anime. Another good one was during the Clerks Animated Series, but it mostly poked fun at Korean animation.
20. I completely forgot Muppet Babies. I absolutely loved that show as a kid and I have a lot of great memories from it. I wish they'd put it on DVD because it's the kind of show I'd like to have kids watch when I'm stuck babysitting them.
21. There is a "cache", that's what I think people aren't understanding. The WYSIWYG editor, as far as I know, is ran in Java or some such nonsense (I'm just guessing, but I'm sure everyone has noticed it takes longer to load than the other two), and that's likely why it doesn't remembr what you do when you come back. If you don't use it, if you go back or past this page and come back, the text will still be there. I've tested this in IE, Firefox and a couple alternatives. I've done this literally dozens of times in the past and I know for a fact it works in the other two post box types.
22.
One suggestion: learn English grammar and learn in well[/b'].
I don't know why people here lash out at others for writing things poorly when their attempt at belittling the person in question has a grammar mistake in it, regardless of it being a typo or not. Seems self defeating. Anyway, there's like forty threads just like this here. I'd read them because I doubt anyone will say anything new. I'd just do what Sara said and stop being a wimp.
23. Eh, when I die, I die. I've had a good run. It's not like I'm running around helping destroy the earth by not recycling and using dozens of aerosol cans. Whatever would happen would be unavoidable on my part.
24. I'm glad you're not going to color it because it's seriously perfect as it is. I'd love to see a wallpaper in this style heh. Anyway, I am curious as to what model Wacom you have? I've been planning on getting one for quite some time, but never get around to it.
25. Does anyone have an images of these Visionaries toys? I've never heard of them. 1. What were your favourite toys (if you had any)? I don't know what my favorite was. I think it'd definitely be between TMNT and He-Man. I has so many figures and playsets and vehicles it was ridiculous. I still have it all heh. 2. What did you think of the toys then? Loved them obviously. I played with them constantly and set up all sorts of things for them to do around the house. I remember one time I had a disposable camera, so I set them up in the yard and took all sorts of weird pictures. 3. What do you think of the toys now? I honestly still think they're pretty nice. They're decently detailed and have managed to survive in perfect condition all of these years, they must be well made. 4. What do you think of the stereotypes that some toys seem to encourage? I don't really understand what this is referring to, to be honest. If you mean things like girls wanting to look like Barbie, then I suppose I can see the problem. To me, though, they're just toys. I played with them, but I never actually identified with them.
