FFXIII likely won't be anything like XII. The team responsible for XII isn't working on it. Instead, it's the same guys responsible for X and so forth. Basically, it'll probably go back to the same type of style it always was. FF fans can continue to delude themselves into thinking the things done within the series are somehow new and innovative, as before. I don't think I heard enough about being able to switch characters mid-battle in FFX.

Let's Abolish Profanity in Adventure Square/Reform thread
I think a lot of people would just post in adult, if that was the case. We need to make it so expletive filled RPs, are an exception, not the rule. I think if you modded them harsly - like, I'm talking an interview to justify language and sexual content - you could still manage to have them. This might make people inundate mods with "I wanna say **** and ****!!!" requests, though, so it's hard. I agree some threads do manage to pull it off (like Kill Adam, or Torment [though that never got off the ground]), but otherwise the Arena's use of 'mature' concepts is a joke, and a new standard has to be set.[/color']
If most people post in that section, wouldn't that heavily imply that that's what most people here wanted? I can disagree all I want, but I mean so what? -
Humans cannot create human life, so i feel we lack the right to take a life.
I am not understanding this. How do you think people are born? Unless you're taking a "poof magically appear" approach to that.

Let's Abolish Profanity in Adventure Square/Reform thread
Semjaza replied to Charles's topic in Help & Feedback
The first response I think quite a few people would have would be in the vein of "oh no, I'm being censored!!"... but I do think a lot of the issues there now are more than simple coincidence. I never read a lot of RPGs to begin with, but I surely read far less now than I would have before. However, I think certain RPGs call for the problem in question in some regard. Kill Adam would have been lackluster without it, certain horror RPGs almost require it to even exist. At the same time, the examples you list (and more) almost make me feel like I've wandered into Super Happy Tree Friends or a non-witty South Park fan-fiction wormhole. I wonder how successful actually splitting the forum between general and "adult" ratings could work out? I'd personally lean against it, but I suppose it is a topic for discussion. -
Honestly, I think I need to have it explained. :animestun

I don't have a particular favorite, but I am interested in Grind House, even if he's not responsible for it completely.

My thought is solely that the title of this thread isn't funny on any level.

Honestly, I could list a million things I "wish" could do. You're not going to learn how to do some new, great talent or hang out with some superstar out of nowhere, though. To be more realistic, I probably wouldn't do much of anything differently from what I usually do. I'm pretty happy with my day-to-day life, personally. I love my girlfriend, I don't hate my job and I have a good time. Whether that lasts another ten minutes or another sixty years, whatever. Obviously I'd rather it lasted a long time, though lol.

To be even more technical, Wolfmother's self-titled only was released in 2005 in Australia. It was released everywhere else in 2006, which pretty much makes it work here. I know they're pretty huge in Australia, but they're mark elsewhere has yet to expand to that level.

Brand New Key was originally by a female artist known as Melanie. The cover listed is indeed good.

What you're describing doesn't really strike me as paranoia to begin with. It sounds more like generalized anxiety disorder, which I'm sure is being further aggravated by the stress of school. It's not really a insanely big problem, considering how many things can be done to help treat it.

I'll just do mine. 360: Viva Pinata A nice amount of great games on the system in 2006, but most of my attention has gone to Viva Pinata. Definitely something that I think should have done better than it has thus far. Pick it up. PS2: Steambot Chronicles I might have gone with Devil Summoner or FFXII, both of which are probably better to some people. I'd argue all three are probably equally good in their own ways, but I've had the most fun with Steambot Chronicles. GBA: Yggdra Union Drill Dozer is my second choice too. This is a great strategy game with wonderful graphics. It uses a card system to spice things up, but they're actually used well here... unlike most games. PC: World of Warcraft It's not new, but who cares. It's the only PC game I can bring myself to play for more than a few hours until I stop playing it entirely. PC gaming just isn't for me. I love TVs. GCN: Twilight Princess Good game, but wins largely because I don't think I bought anything else new on the system this year. Did Chibi Robo come out in 2006? That was fun. DS: Tetris DS Not the most original game, that's for sure. But it's fun and it makes up for so much time on the train for me that it would be crazy to put something else here.

I don't really agree that you need to buy every little add-on to get the system's COMPLETE FULLEST anyway. I can play every game with what's available on either system. This isn't mincing the words as much as it's just disagreement lol. So, what, when PS3 gets official wireless headsets and wireless steering wheel controllers and every thing else like that, we'd have to buy them too? Did anyone even list a headset for the PS3? Or how about Linux, since I can run it on there? Or a keyboard to plug in to it? I mean, I understand your point, but by that logic every time something new is introduced, you'll have to add to the cost of having the complete fullest system again. Neither the 360 or the PS3 would ever stop adding up in what you're supposedly paying for to enjoy them to the fullest. It almost completely invalidates the purpose of adding up the costs.

In your world nothing is answerable. You might as well just say that.

Those screenshots in question are from around a time that horse back riding in a Zelda title was completely unheard of. When all you could do previously was shoot off some arrows, how is Link fighting a swarm of enemies on horseback not impressive by comparison? Personally, I think it was pretty cool. You also have to remember that those are from, what? A year ago or so? The game was far more impressive graphically at the time considering what else was out there. A year later, when it finally released after delays and delays, not so much. People don't seem to remember how old this thread is.

Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous to quote an HD-DVD player as an absolutely required thing for the 360. It's completely optional and doesn't affect gameplay in any sense. I have a 360 and have no desire to buy the player. Maybe some one else wants to run off and watch the largely horrid selection of currently available Bluray movies, but I sure don't. If anything, people should be slightly bothered about that being included to begin with considering it's essentially the SOLE reason it's been so hard for them to produce units. Most places don't even think they'll be caught up with production estimates for several months yet. We're talking about a company that claimed they'd have 1,000,000 units at US launch, then down to 400,000 and then really only had about 200,000. I have to stick with Charles on this whole component issue thing. You cannot get HD without that, at the very least. MS was big on HD as a major factor of their system, but Sony is pretty much pushing it as "if you don't have this, you're stupid". To not include them at all is ridiculous. And even if you ran out and bought them, Bluray won't reach its true resolutions without HDMI cables instead. Many Bluray films use HDMI as a test for copy protection. So, basically, without it, your apparently important movie playing aspect of the system is pretty stunted. As for Live, I'm not sure what to say. You can buy yearly packs with extra items (MS points, an arcade game) on sale most of the time. I've never spent $50 a year on Live and I probably never will have to. You're paying for functionality well beyond what Sony's service offers in essentially any way. Whether its simple chatting, message sending, leaderboards or just plain gaming online. The problem with Sony's service is that each company runs its own servers... meaning, what happens when there's an issue? What would Sony do about it? It especially becomes scary if you love playing a really obscure title online. Would a smaller publisher really be willing to run those servers itself for the life of the system? Considering the things that happened with Dreamcast, who can even say? It's less than the price of most games on either system. If we were just going to count things that go along with gameplay, that $50 barely cuts in to anything.

Otakupedia Entries/Suggestions/Discussion thread
Here is something worth mentioning. I found it while going through my favorites of my web browser. I will link it rather than put the image up because it is rather large. MistressRoxie's OB Geneology
I cannot even figure out I'm connected to half of those people whose line lead to mine in any way. I've not even spoken to 95% of them in passing. :animestun -
From what I've read, it seems like a lot of people having issues with the nunchuck movement are doing it too strongly. I'm sure it's hard to gauge it properly when you're just having fun, though. There's actually a video on YouTube showing off how to do it properly again and again lol.

The Wii version is also the only version that displays in 16:9... but that only matters for widescreen capable TVs.

At this stage I've not found much to complain about in terms of difficulty. The game isn't especially challenging, but it's definitely more difficult than the Wind Waker. There's a difference between a light difficulty level and pure child's play. As it stands, I've died a few times in this one already, so I think that's good lol. I was surprised that falling into lava takes away two hearts this time around. Personally, I'm really enjoying the game. I've only just finished the third temple.
...apart from that i don't know anything much about J-metal. I have listened to some boris and their drone stuff nearly put me to sleep. I can't deal with 1 note for 4 minutes.
Drone is pretty boring in general... but as mentioned, they cover various genres. They even have a plain old rock album.

Wow, after 7 years, Otakuboards is still here

Seven years too long, amirite? That's a long time, though. Most forums seem to bite the dust in the first year. -
Haha, I thought this forum only listens to ACDC and Radiohead. Nice to see another metal head.
I'm sorry, but have you even seen half of the threads listed in this forum? :animestun

The best Japanese rock band I've personally heard is Green Milk from the Planet Orange. They're kind of in the progressive rock, post-rock category. They take some time to get into, but they're really damn good. Boris is also fun. They change genres between releases, covering all sorts of different rock angles. As such it's difficult to recommend any one album, but I think trying a mix of songs might be a good idea. There's others I enjoy in passing, (edit, found it) like Polysics and Quruli ( I see people argue over how to actually spell the band's name, but this seems to be the most used).

Without spending any time thinking about it, one main thing that comes to mind is Sonic Youth's "Rather Ripped". It's really the same old stuff from them, I suppose. It's obviously Sonic Youth. That's not a bad thing, though, since they're really continuing an excellent return to greatness (including their last release, "Sonic Nurse"). Plus, Kim Gordon seems to be getting better and better. Something I always note when listening to the album is how well it ends. The closing words on the final track just seem perfect. I cannot say that about many releases from any artist. They put out some b-side collection last week too, but I've not picked it up yet. The other is Jucifer's "Thine Enemy Hunger". They're a two piece band; the girl plays guitar and sings, the guy plays drums. They're often cited as one of the loudest bands you can see live, largely because she brings with this massive wall of gigantic speakers on tour stops. This is their first LP in four years or so and I think it lives up to the previous material and then some. It's hard to pigeonhole them in a super specific genre, but there's influences of pop, rock, metal, doom, sludge and so forth. They're one of my personal favorite bands, although admittedly not for every one by a long shot. There's probably a dozen more albums I would put on here (J Dilla comes to mind too), but I'm not in the mindset to remember what most of them were... let alone in the mindset to actually write something.
