1. Considering all the stuff Hells Fire wrote about Hell Boy, I don't even know how you could compare them... Totally different origins, personalities, strengths...What is comparable between them other than perhaps their size? Certainly the stories contained in the comics are not very similar. I am not sure how well this movie will do. Hellboy is pretty acclaimed overall, but obviously nowhere near as recognizable as something like X-Men, Spider-Man or even the Hulk. However, it has been advertised like crazy over here... I cannot think of a single film in recent memory that I've seen as many commercials for as there has been for Hellboy. I hope it does well. I'm seeing it, at least.
2. I think the original video that sold me on the game was way back at E3. It showed the four links defending a bridge and there were over 25 knights just running at them with no issues whatsoever. What isn't shown in the screens too well is how often the camera zooms in and out of the action, which I think is rather cool. Makes up for issues that could arise when someone gets too far away.

I didn't like the movie whatsoever. I suppose it started off fine enough, but it basically just debased itself into
a evil child pornographer film
instead of what the entire film seems to be trying to lead up to. I don't know, but something about that just seemed out of place and just stuffed in in a lame attempt to shock people. The ending was absolutely awful as well and really didn't make sense to me.
Can she suddenly see other ghosts? Is she suppose to help other people now? Why would this happen if the other one only happened to her because of her link to the people involved?
. It seems like this was just stuck in so they could have an open ending.
4. Game is due in June. I can't remember if that was said or not yet. http://www.sbgi.net/template/entertainment/gamerz/graphics/other/fourswordshires.jpg That's the supposed box art as well. The art is the same as on the Japanese version, which is nice.
5. Take Justin's suggestion. I think it's the best one. The thing about online spell checkers is that they have to have a dictionary to rely on. There's a lot of weird usernames and words about thanks to the anime influence on this board. I don't know that people would want to have the spell checker question all of those less standard ones, as it would be very likely to do. If someone is too lazy to write decently enough that people can understand it, I can't see why anyone would want to keep them around anyway.
6. For those that are interested... the Hell Boy one shot comic known as Corpses, I believe, is only 25 cents at comic stores right now. My local one got tons of copies in too. Worth checking out if you're curious about the movie. You only need a quarter... there's no extra tax charge with comics.
7. As much as I love a good, old fashioned porno discussion... this really is beyond the limits of the sort of things that can be discussed at this site. There's a good portion of younger members here and this is just not suitable material, regardless of your intentions. If you want to ask about this sort of thing ask your friends or on various other message boards that allow this sort of topic.
8. I think many people in this thread already understood the fact that there are most likely thousands of species of creatures in the oceans and around the globe that haven't been discovered. I and others already made reference to oceans, so I'm not sure how there's "finally" someone who gets it lol. There are depths of the ocean that people have never even been to and thinks already mentioned, plus some I've seen discovered only recently make it obvious that things that could be considered "monsters" already exist down there. I mean, people thought the coelcanth was exctinct for many, many years... and then some fisherman caught one only recently. Who knows what's down there. If you want to get into that, there are hundreds of species of ants that apparently can never been fully discovered thanks to the destruction of the rainforests they inhabit. Obviously there are things we simply don't know about... monstrously huge or miniscule. Doesn't make Loch Ness any more believeable to me, though. Like was mentioned, it's a freaking lake that has been observed and researched to the point that I can't see anything like Nessie even existing in it.

Final Fantasy

There's a thread on it in the gaming section here. http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=31540
10. IF some kid posts his bio as the first post in the spar... I don't even see what the issue is. If you don't want to read it, then don't. No one is forcing you to post or play along with it. However, I'm also under the impression that The Harlqeuin has to judge the spars at the end, right? I'm sure he doesn't want to have to read a 12 page biography when all that even matters in the thread is what people actually do in the battle.
11. Well, I can't really vouch for what you (Deb) or I or anyone else here thinks of spirtuality... Schools can't really throw a concept into the works because you or I think spirituality is an important aspect of someone's personality. There's too many people who would jump at it as religion in schools.... Or at least, I think so, based on people I've met in the past heh. Especially if they used that specific term. With the way you're meaning the word, I'd have to say that schools are already doing this sort of thing. There's awareness programs, counseling and various classes I've taken throughout my school years that I feel were an attempt to make people more understanding of themselves, society and others. By your definition, I think you could say that these classes helped work on and reflect the spirituality of the individuals in class... unless I'm misunderstanding you. I see no issue with that side of it. However, originally, I didn't really think this was part of the issue brought up in this thread. I only mentioned "meditation" along with prayer because that's apparently what Chibihorsewoman and other pagans do in their religion. I didn't mean it in the plan old "sit and reflect on things" way... So, I don't know. I didn't mean the word in the same you seem to be in your original post. Before you posted, what I had read previously really just dealt with actual prayer itself, so that's what my posts were based on and that was it lol. In other words, I think we're basically on the same page anyway.
12. Welll, it's obvious you'll find Hellboy comics considering that's what the movie is based on lol. The series has been around for awhile. Recently a lot of stuff seems to be getting extra prints and stuff thanks to the movie. I'm really looking forward to this. I love Hellboy and this looks like a decent comic book movie. Action, lame one liners, weird creatures, etc. I'm not going in expecting the best story ever told, but I am expecting a good comic book film. Ron Perlman is playing Hellboy, by the way. He played Dieter Reinhardt in Blade II and does random cartoon voices (Slade in Teen Titans, for example).
13. It really doesn't matter what I think about the subject as that's not even my point. I don't remember ever talking about what effects spirituality has on anyone or how important it is for someone's well being. If anything, I think you're just connecting dots that I didn't even make. The point is that obviously state and church are supposed to be seperate entities. The school administration, setting aside time during school hours and in place of curriculum is something that just isn't supposed to be allowed, regardless of any of my own opinion on the subject. Calling it meditation time doesn't magically change that most of it will be geared towards time set aside for religious practices for a good portion of people. It's like telling people that believe in religions to pray and everyone else to make busy for ten minutes. You do realize how much crap a public school would get from athiestic and other non-religious groups if that time was even set aside? Public schools are not supposed to advocate that, end of story. What students do before or after school time is their own business in the eyes of that school, but certainly not during hours. What I'm saying isn't something I'm saying because I hate religion or some other nonsense, it's because that is how public school systems have come to work. The main reason I said any of it was because I felt the initial post had some implication to it that Christian religions were getting some sort of break while others were not. I was wanting to make it clear that in the eyes of a public school administator or superindendant, or what have you, religion is religion and that's all there is to it. There'd be no reason for Chibihorsewoman not to be allowed to mediitate before school, just like there's no reason to not let kids pray before school. The same reason why there'd be no reason for the school to allow either of them to do it during hours.
14. You cannot set aside time that is basically acknowledging time for prayer, meditation or whatever it is a person does. It isn't just a simple matter of Christianity versus the state or random people being offended that only Christian students can pray and others cannot... it's religion in general. Taking time out during school hours and curriculum to acknowlege any of it really is just the same situation with different words. What kids do before and after school is their own business... but it's not affecting anything that makes up the school's programs or policies on the subject. It'd be totally different if they announced over the PA system to sit and take time out to pray, meditate, etc.
15. Suikoden II is amazingly good. If you can get your hands on a copy, it's certainly worth the 40 to 50 dollars I see it for online. The first is great, but it's slightly more dated by comparison. If anything, I'd go after the second one. I liked III, but after awhile I kind of just lost interest in it. I've not really had as much time as I would have liked to dedicate to games because of this quarter in school. I'm already neglecting Disgaea, even though I LOVE the game... A Wonderful Life is having a similiar problem currently... but after this week, it's vacation time! Plenty of time for gaming. As for IV, I don't know what to think currently. III was decent fun and I enjoyed the gameplay overall... but the little I've seen of IV looks so similiar to the last one that I can't really get all that excited over it. It literally looks like some sort of expansion pack because of the style they kept... However, the ocean and other things leave me optimistic. I just wish they'd ditch those long "hallway" style areas, where you just run in a straight line until you get to the next place.
16. I find it rather odd that the article you've quoted pretty much puts all responsbility for racism on European cultures and current white generations. It seems very one sided and biased to me. I saw a documentary titled "The Journey of Man" that had a doctor, Spencer Wells, tracing ancestry back to the dawn of homo sapiens via genetics. He basically checked the blood of males going farther and farther back until he reached the origin. This is because Y chromosomes are basically passed on exactly the same, unless there's a mutation. He also used these mutations to trace it back between specific areas of the globe. He wound up finding the oldest group of people that are still living today are the San Bushmen in Africa. They have genetic markers unlike every other group of people outside of Africa and their language is not even remotely duplicated elsewhere. Basically, for various reasons they wound up spreading across the world. They wound up on various other continents because of the ice age at the time that helped great bridges between the various masses of lands. People's features changed overtime because of various genetic mutations and colors changed because of obvious differences in weather (Africans are darker skinned to help protect from dark sun, whereas lighter skin came about due to wearing more clothes to combat the weather, etc). Knowing this, I really don't know how anyone can really be racist from just the color viewpoint. We're all from the same damn place. We're all technically related. It just seems moronic to me. I judge people based on how they act and that's it. I've never made a decision, to my knowledge, that was based on racial sorts of things. However, even this doesn't matter to many people. Most simply refuse to believe the genetic evidence at all. People naturally have come to hate or be wary of those that are different from themselves. There's really not much you can do with older generations... but I think that if the current generations and those after us are shown a better way of dealing with this issue, it will become less and less of a problem over time.
17. 1.) Yes and no. There aren't festivals of the same nature as in the other HM titles. In FoMt on the GBA, for example, certain days had certain festivals and you'd meet in the Event Square to do them. Chicken fights, dog competitions, etc. AWL doesn't have this. However, there are events that are similiar to fesitvals. However, you more or less have to stumble upon them in town by being friends with certain characters. I guess there's a music festival where people sing and one with some sort of mini-game. Not as good as in previous games though. No clue why they took this out. 2.) Yes. You get a better kitchen and bigger room in Chapter 2 automatically. However, I'm not sure if there's more to that or not. You can buy a pond for your farm though (the main draw of this is that it lets you have ducks, assuming they land in the pond). You an also buy two other additons for your farm... food processing and a milking house. I'm not totally sure what they do as they're super expensive at this point. 3.) When you get to the end of the six chapters, I assume that is it. There's a few endings depending on what you accomplished beforehand. However, it's possible that the game lets you mess around more after that... I'm not sure about that yet as I'm not very far in.
18. I'm really looking forward to this game. The single player mode sounds rather fleshed out... far more than I'm sure most were expecting. Apparently the single player game can take upwards of 20 hours to get through. I don't feel so bad about spending $50 on this (although it apparently is bundled with a link cable). Just so you know, word is that NOA is leaving Trackers out of the US release. I'm not sure what the reasoning is, but I can't say I'll miss it. Recent impressions make it seem like it was geared towards very young children as it was. It also has some sort of system for pronouncing simple Japanese first names... something that would be incredibly difficult to fix for a US release. In any case, I doubt I'd play it more than once just to see what it was like. Didn't look all that interesting. I'm surprised by the comparison to Marvelous: Another Treasure Island though. I've never gotten to play the game, but what I've seen of it never game me that impression.
19. The main problem with KoRn is that they've really not evolved much since their inception. Some of their demos from before they were signed are still appearing on random new releases of theirs. I used to be pretty into Follow the Leader, for what it was worth. Now I can't even bring myself to listen to most of it, but I just had different interests early in High School lol. Their old stuff is worth the time, but they're pretty much burnt out at this point, in my opinion.
20. Ever since the upgrade the other night, Mozilla has been displaying threads a bit wider than they're supposed to be. The main page, forum views, post new thread pages and post preview pages look fine. The only thing messed up are the actual pages showing the posts in the threads themselves. I'm using the latest version. I figured everyone had this problem, but James told me that wasn't true... so here you go.
21. There's obviously a massive difference between thinking it's some sort of fish and an actual sea monster, like many people who are into it want to believe. If you want to think there's something there, that's fine. An actual dinosaur-like creature that the people involved want you to think is there though? No. I mean, most of the somewhat believable evidence out there has been proven to be false with the Loch Ness Monster. That leaves us with stories and even worse photographs than the fake ones. There's certainly not enough out there for me to even remotely consider believing the old wives tales about some monster in a lake. So to me, the whole thing is ridiculous and I see no reason to keep an open mind on the subject. People were fooled for decades by what was considered the foremost photograph proving the monsters existance until the woman who took it admitted it was a fake. What more do people need? lol I find Bigfoot even more ridiculous. Here we have a creature, living in inhabited woodland areas that no one has ever managed to get decent picture of. No one has ever found remains or skeletons of the thing. The only evidence is really horrible photos that are obviously men in a suit and a foot cast. If I believe the fake looking photos of the thing, that makes the foot cast fake because the creatures in the photos have never had feet that large. If I believe the foot cast, that makes the pictures false. Which one is it? That's why I make the comparison to things that obviously don't exist. Believing there are species we don't know about is one thing, because there are tons of species of just ants that no one has studied. Who knows what other things there are out there. But to believe that a sea monster in a lake (maybe if it was super deep in the ocean, I wouldn't find it so strange) and a giant human-like ape exists seems ludicrous to me. No amount of "I want to believe!" nonsense will change my mind about it lol.
22. If I believe that, I might as well believe in the Tooth Fairy and Godzilla.
23. I absolutely loved Zoolander. It's one of the most underrated comedies I've ever seen. So I went into this with high hopes, considering Stiller and Wilson are both in this movie. I think the main thing this movie has going against it is that people are figuring that it's supposed to be a goofy parody. If you've ever seen the show, it's more of a tribute than anything. Sure, it has its funny and goofy points, but I don't think it's one of those movies laugh the entire time at. That said, I really enjoyed it. Wilson and Stiller have their characters totally down. It had a nice amount of action. I'd say it was a good buddy cop movie... Decent films of that type are very rare in recent years. Something I thought was amusing... there's a part where they are standing in front of an old framed poster. My dad actually won that exact poster way back in the 80s and I wound up keeping it. It's the weird one with a deck of cards, a bike wheel and an eagle on it. It's in the commercial too. No big deal, but funny to me at least lol.
24. I remember them getting some play around here and heard of them a few other times, but that's about it. Certainly not the biggest band, but they're not totally unknown to me. They struck me as a band I wouldn't care about in the slightest, but I honestly can't even remember why I came the that conclusion anymore heh. I'll check some songs out when I get a chance.
25.
Keep in mind that the max dimensions are 150 x 80, and your banner exceeds the 80 pixel height limit. ~_^
That's the avatar size. Not the banner size. In any case, it's too tall, even for a banner. The size for that is 500x100 max here.
