1. I guess the rumor panned out. From what it was saying, they'd be released like the Indiana Jones set. One DVD for each film and a seperate DVD of extras. Should be cool. I'm kind of scared of any new additions or changes though. "Original vision" my ***.
2. In a sense I'm somewhat annoyed by the Evanescence win... Not because there was anyone else nominated that was more deserving, but simply because there's quite a few bands similar to them that have been doing the same sort of style for much, much longer. If Evanescence wins an award, I can't see why Lacuna Coil hasn't. I seriously mistook Evanescence for Lacuna Coil the first time I heard them (well, until the rapping kicked in -- bad single off a decent album, I think). Oh well. It doesn't work that way, I guess lol

Ghost Ship

Overall, I think the movie was not very good. However, I think it has one of the best openers in a horror movie that I've seen in a really long time. The opening had this cheesy old school look to the way it was filmed. In fact, it reminded me of Temple of Doom with the singer and overlay graphics. The opening death sequence rocked, end of story. I also liked how later in the movie they played out what really happened before the ship sunk Other than that, it was filler material. Hardly any of it was interesting and I couldn't care less what happened to anyone. I was also kind of annoyed by the gratutious use of industrial/electronica in a movie like this. It just wasn't suited for it.
4. That's an odd stance considering I'm sure you talk about random shows and/or games with other people. Someone talking about Freinds or another show the next day that you don't like is somehow different? People talk about TV shows, it's nothing new.
5. I know of their other material... althouh I've not heard all of it. They've been around for several years longer than that even. Origin is considered a "demo" of sorts because it never had proper distribution channels. The band itself paid to their own money to produce it. They only made a couple thousand copies and it was never sold at stores. If it was re-released once the band made it big, I have no idea (I don't think so).. A few of the songs were redone for Fallen from it. They had EPs too which were out in 1998 and 1999 respectively. Although they were on Windup or something like that. In any case, those were EPs, not LPs, so they don't count and Origin isn't considered something the Grammys would count for some reason. So Fallen is what we're stuck with and it's considered "new", I guess. It's confusing because Fountains of Wayne was up for some best new artist award and they've been around for years... on a big label too. Not like Evanescence. Oh well. Edit -- I had a bunch of info in here that was incorrect. I changed it and I apologize for any confusion. I was in a rush and as soon as I left I was like "Dammit"... but it was too late lol.
6. Anything Evanescence might have have put out before wouldn't have counted towards this stuff. In the mind of the Grammys, you aren't considered new until you break out onto a major label. They didn't until Fallen was released. I don't think they really had anything out other than demo-ish material previous to that anyway. Record of the Year goes to the people involved in actually creating the record. The producer, mixers, engineers, etc. It has nothing to do with the actual album itself or the artists. There are a few things I personally find absolutely ridiculous. Best Female Rock Vocal Performance went to Pink for Trouble. Since when is she even put in the rock category? Let alone something that's apparently better than every other rock single out there by a female? The fact that St. Anger would win anything in the metal category is also pretty disgusting and undermines almost every other metal band in existance that is still relevent. Metallica isn't when you think about pushing music forward. To me, sales numbers don't mean crap when it comes down to "Best Whatever", but I'm sure they do for the Grammys. In any case, I think the Foo Fighters were deserving out of the nominees in the Rock Album category. Nothing this year was worse than any previous year, really. They rarely even nominate bands I think are deserving, let alone let them win.
7. For some reason I thought this said "Methods to Get Banned"... heh.
8. I don't know if you have the resources, but from the sounds of it... it might be easier to just throw all of this up on a bunch of HTML pages and linking to those.
9. I've tried to keep out of this thread, despite problems with it in the past, just so you guys had a place to talk about this stuff... but this has gotten ridiculous. The post quality is terrible and a good deal of it has almost nothing to do with the game. Half of this stuff could be said to someone else in a one sentence IM. I doubt any of you were planning on bumping this thread up into a discussion that's even remotely near the standards of this place, so I think you'll have to talk about Neopets elsewhere for the time being.
10. Reminds me... I hated Valentine's Day for a long time when I was little. I think first or second grade. Passing out those cards as a boy can be embarrassing enough as it is. However, one year my aunt bought me Lisa Frank ones to fill out. She meant well, but yeah. I'm sure most people are familiar with that company. They have a thing for goofy animals and super bright colors. Everything looks airbrushed and involves purple and pink and hearts and rainbows and unicorns and god knows what else. They looked lame enough on their own, but the little messages on them were so terrible and I hated myself just for signing people's names on them. Every single one made it sound like I lived just for the receiver's love. Giving them to girls was weird, but guys was even worse. The cards all made it seem like I wanted to cover them in kisses and hold their hands. Even my teacher made a small joke about it at my expense. I hated Valentine's Day in gradeschool. I got over it. I still hate Lisa Frank, though. With a freaking passion.
11. I'll join, sounds fun. I'm still trying to organize an official art contest to go in the Event Arena, but it's taking longer than I thought. We both have the idea of categories though, which I think is a very good way to go about it.
12. I don't agree that Freddy vs. Jason was crap. If you've not seen the previous movies or been around enough to realize how long the idea for this movie has been batted around, I could see how you'd form that opinion. Yes, it was goofy. Yes, it was full of cheese. Was it the greatest horror film ever? No. Of last year? No. But what it did do is stick two huge horror icons into a film that pulled off everything it set out to do. It was nothing but fan service and I was happy with just that, personally.
13. I don't want to seem mean... but I get the impression that keeping him around with this will just be painful for both you and the cat itself. Is putting it to sleep an option?
14. There was a post like this for some Mega Man game, but I can't find it. It's one of two things. 1.) The game is busted. You can either return it or call Capcom's support number. 2.) It should be using a battery to save. Unscrew the back of the cartridge and try replacing it. It should be a pretty standard size that you could get at a place like Radio Shack.
15. I don't think the "point" of Valentine's Day is so people act like they love eachother more that they than they do any other they. If you want to give into the corporate side of Valentine's Day, that's your problem. That doesn't make it what it is, especially if you know its origins. To me it's just a day set aside where you could make plans to do something more special for your girlfriend that you would on let's say February 2nd (assuming that's not her birthday). Doesn't mean I care about her any more or less on that day or I wouldn't randomly do big things for her in the first place. If there's a "love" holiday worth hating, it's Sweetest Day. I never even heard of that until several years back when a local supermarket chain started telling you to buy crap for it.
16. The only real issue with it is its size. If you want this to be on the page everytime it loads up, you're really going to be putting a strain on your users. That's quite large for just one graphic.
17. Well, first of all LXG and Underworld aren't even "horror" movies by any stretch of the imagination (edited that lol). House of the Dead was supposed to be lame, I think. Especially considering the game it was based on. There's some decent horror movies out there, but it really depends on what you go for. Some people like mean spirited stuff like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Others like me, like movies like Cabin Fever, House of 1,000 Corpses and Final Destination 2 (first sucks, second rocks) because they have a sense of humor. Others hate those, so it's just subjective. These are all pretty recent movies too. I'd agree that on average, though, that horror movies are getting worse. Most are made with young teenagers in mind and don't really challenge much of anything. You could always look around the foreign markets, as they've had some good stuff lately.
18. I am not a huge fan of these genres, but I try to remain open about it. Every so often a group or musician comes to my attention that I really enjoy. I've been listening to Outkast for awhile now. I don't own Stankonia for some reason, although I do own their latest and a couple before that. I've not gotten a chance to listen to Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in one sitting, but there are a lot of songs I skip around to. I'm into Dracula's Wedding right now lol. I'd have to say my favorite release of theirs would be either Aquemini or ATLiens, though. I also really like Handsome Boy Modeling School, although their release had a lot of stuff on it that I wouldn't even really consider "songs". I believe they have something new coming out this year, so I'm looking forward to that. I liked N.E.R.D.'s release. It wasn't the best, but it had some solid stuff on it. I think they have something else coming out really soon, so I plan on grabbing that. Acrobatik is also quite good, if I'm even spelling his name right. I forget where the K goes heh. R&B wise... I am not really into any of the current stuff, although I like a lot of music from decades back that was considered R&B. It seems to have changed a lot.
19. The Clock-Monster rocks. I really like the character. The rest of the banner looks decent. I'm not really too into the background for some reason. I like the idea you're going for with it, but it doesn't seem like it turned out quite as well as it could have. I have to agree about the B and the Zs though. The B should just be ditched entirely. I think everyone will know it's yours if you use it heh. The Zs are just too far apart and break up the flow of the word. I don't know, maybe that's how their name is on their CDs or something... but it looks odd. As for the corner, I don't know. I don't really see a point to removing that as it adds little to the design all by itself. I think the fact that the border is still a full rectangle kind of makes it rather out of place. Good overall, though.
20. I made some more of these last night, so here they are. I have plans for several more yet. :) hi

First thing's first. Akasha, OB no longer allows introduction posts thanks to a long story that would take me a billion years to tell. At the top of OB is a forum that contains the rules and a posting FAQ. That should explain most of what you want to know. If you have any other issues PM me or post your questions in the "Suggestions and Feedback" forum. Second thing. CrH, lay off a little. I doubt anyone wants to be chastised on their first post like this. This is a warning for everyone: If you come across a post you feel is "spam", don't freaking post in it. Either report it or wait for a mod to come across it and take care of themselves. By posting in it, you're just adding to the problem and pretty much spamming yourself. It certainly doesn't make any of the mods' jobs any easier. Nor does it make you look any better in their eyes. Just have fun and let us worry about this stuff.
22. To be blunt, as soon as a good portion of the country knows you by a nickname as terrible as "The Skooter Girl", it's pretty definite that your career will go nowhere no matter what you do.
23. The original Metroid is in Prime, yeah. You couldn't play it on your GBA though, so I think this is still a nice addition. It makes since since Zero Mission is a remake of the original anyway. It's nice that they bothered, I suppose lol.
24. I've not watched the show in weeks. I've just not had the time and I can't even think of what day Fox shows it anymore. They shift crap around so much and things randomly go off the air only to reappear again later. If I were Seth I would have been all over Anna from the start... but I guess Summer isn't as bad as she first seemed. She's just confused and peer pressured, I guess lol
25. They still use that? It was funny in Muppet Babies, but that's about it. I was hoping it died after Ralph Bakshi did the Lord of the Rings and American Pop. Although he used a weird style where they filmed people and did something to it to make it look like a cartoon... even though it never did. It looked terrible. Absolutely terrible.
