It's Campbell, like the soup heh. I would absolutely love for him to sign my Book of the Dead edition of the Evil Dead DVD. Anyway, I think this turned out rather well. It's suitably dark, the typeface choice suits it and even the generally over-used scanlines style was pulled off surprisingly well. Solid banner. The only thing that seems off about it is around the center. For some reason part of the scanlines seem noticably more dark than the rest of them.

I'll have to check them out xbloodfightx. Thanks. I'll let you know what happens. Otherwise, I guess I'll always have a place in my heart for bands like Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Danzig, Motorhead and so forth. I'm by no means one of those people who's like "metal was so much better back in the day!!!", but it's still good stuff. I was actually at Tower records today and they had a whole display that was labeled "hard". They had a few bands I like such as Coheed and Cambria. They also had a few you guys mentioned... it seemed like most were from Trustkill. For some reason the Ramones were on there too. I like the Ramones, but they seemed out of place lol.

Heh. I understand all that. The funny thing is that we were both exposed to this guy in the same way. I worked in Target and was often stuck watching TVN constantly. Mraz was a nice break between some of the more terrible acts on the station. I'll never forget stuff like Lil' Bow Wow, Isle of Q and who knows what else I had to suffer through for hours at a time. At least they played Queens of the Stone Age when they had new stuff out. Anyway, back to Mraz. He's definitely good at what he does, from all I've been able to hear so far. I respect his talent, but it's not enough to get my hard earned cash just yet heh. (Edit - All of my exposure to him is mostly through my friend who plays this sort of music when he gives me a ride in his car). (Edit for Kyle - I don't want to pull Leh's thread offtrack, so I'll just put it here -- I worked salesfloor, electronics from time to time. I moved over to softlines because it was simply not as much of a hassle to work in... I quit a bit later heh).

Regardless, you might want to work on a better way of explaining your thought processes than simply insulting people. I can't argue that many people here think anything remotely hard is heavy/death metal, but there's a better way to go about informing them of their lack of knowledge on genres than by calling them idiots and fools lol. I'd have to agree with Olga that it won't have much effect no matter how you do it, though. In any case, nu-metal has sadly infected everyone's ideas of what good, heavy bands should sound like. I wouldn't mind it being scourged from the earth, for the most part heh. I don't know how anyone can like Disturbed, for example. Personally, I probably wouldn't be too into the "good" stuff mentioned by Olga and Death Knight anyway. I'm mostly past my metal/hardcore/whatever stage, although there are some exceptions here and there. I love Dog Fashion Disco (which was named by Ken), whatever you'd like to consider them. I'm more into more technical metal like Dream Theater and Anathema, personally. And since they were mentioned, Jack Off Jill broke up years ago. Jessicka, the vocalist, is lead for a band called Scarling now. Their LP comes out this month. From what I've heard I'm expecting very good things.

I can't think of a thread here where any random "hardcore" music fan posted just to tell someone they they were "gay" for liking some male perfomer. It couldn't be that they're just not into this genre of music... they must be closed minded and apparently too stupid to type properly. Like what you want, but the idea that people simply won't like a vocalist/band because of a reason like that is just as closed off, in my opinion. I personally have no interest in the type of music Mraz plays, simple as that. I couldn't care less about his image or what people would think of me if I listened to him. Then again, I don't really go for this hardcore metal stuff you're referring to either lol.

Little Timmy is such an outcast that he has to give himself his own swirlies.

Well, modchips in and of themselves are not illegal. I have a few systems modded to play imports. However, obviously copying games you don't own is another story. I think it's pretty sad that people try to justify what's basically stealing.

I don't have anything I need medicine for, personally. However, my girlfriend has diabetes. The insulin and such are ridiculously expensive without insurance. This became an issue when her mother lost her job several months back. The family health insurance went with it. Almost everything they had went to paying for the supplies she basically needed to stop herself from simply dying. Luckily her mom got a new job and things are back to normal. Anyway, that's the end of my story. I just find it kind of sad, really. I find it hard to believe that these supplies should cost as much as they do.

I absolutely love Keeping Up Appearances. In fact, I'd say it's my favorite out of all of these. I suppose it's not for everyone. The humor in it is even more dry than the other British comedies I've seen. The characters are so ridiculous that I can't help but enjoy them. Hyacinth is so neurotic and I really feel for her husband. Strangely, the woman who plays Hyacinth is apparently a rather respected actress around those parts. I've seen her in several movies and she's always done an excellent job.
Originally posted by Leh Anyone think it would be cool to have Disney make a movie of the first Kingdom Heart's game?
No. It's bad enough they ruined some of my favorite movies with poor storytelling and terrible level layouts. The last thing I want is a movie plopping them all together on top of it. I really do not like that game, but apparently I'm in a minority.

There have been kids who have hated school since it was first started who knows how many centuries ago. I don't see how this reflects poorly on the youth of today as a whole, really. Old people like to complain about everything. I wouldn't cite them to help prove this sort of argument heh. There's always a few stragglers who never really mesh with the school system or have the mindset for that sort of thing. At the same time, the school system in the US seems to be getting worse and worse, so I'm sure that adds to it. There were times where I outright hated school. It wasn't because I didn't want to learn or that I thought these things wouldn't be useful. It was because I was having a poor experience thanks to fellow classmates, poor books or a teacher who was just going through the motions. There have been classes I've absolutely loved. I also enjoy school currently. There are times when I'm unhappy there, but overall I'm enjoying myself and feel that I'm doing something worthwhile despite the money involved.

I've never had chicken pox. The only scar I have is from a surgery. I had a cyst on my left wrist that had to be removed a few years back. The scare has gone from a pink-ish color to the color of my actual skin, although it's still noticable if you look. The only thing that's weird about it is that it's right over the veins in my wrist. So basically, I look like I had a botched suicide attempt on that arm. It's horizontal, not vertical, though heh.

The most awful taste ever! (sensitive people watch out!)
Semjaza replied to Circ's topic in General Discussion
I'd say the worst taste there is would be tomatoes (cooked or raw or whatever). I don't mind tomato by-products (good ketchup -- I won't touch anything outside of Heinz -- tastes nothing like a raw tomato). Nothing disgusts me more. Not only do they smell, look and feel horrible... they just taste absolutely terrible. I'd eat almost anything before I'd eat big chunks of tomatoes. Seriously. -
Originally posted by JCBaggee Great show, but....did Cap have a mullet? --Chris
It's more of the weird offspring of a mullet. Like if a mullet and a flat top had a baby... Captain Planet's hair would be the result. I've not seen this show since I was a child, so I can't really say too much about it. However, it was certainly one of the better "educational" shows. For some reason I was always reminded of this show when I'd watch the awful James Bond, Jr. Who the hell greenlighted that show anyway?

I guess I'm deaf. The similarites are there, but Muse just goes into such a different angle with it. There's a lot they do where I can't even see a comparison. Anyway, I just got a package in today. It was from Poland, I think, and contained Hullabaloo. That was basically the only Muse CD I was missing outside of random singles and the Muscle Museum EP. Hullabaloo usually comes on two CDs, one live and one studio... but this thankfully had both on one disc. Yay!

I'm sorry if this may be considered against the rules. I'll let Syk3 decide because I simply have no clue heh. I made the banner I am currently using months ago for another site. However, I've had to reformat my PC since then and lost my entire typeface collection. So basically I'm stuck. I love the typeface in my banner, but I have NO IDEA what it is called. It might have adjusted the leading to make the banner, so the letters might not actually be that close in the actual face itself. I don't really know where else to turn right now heh. Does anyone have any idea? I'd really like to use this in something I'm trying to make right now.

Human reproduction levels are nowhere near what a chicken can do in its lifespan... and chickens don't even live as long as we do. In any case, I remember reading that they had video of this guy eating the volunteer (the guy wanted to be eaten and apparently many others did too -- ick). I want to see it just out of morbid curiousity, although I'm sure I'd not actually play it if I ever got my hands on it lol. PETA is pretty much insane and I'm never surprised by the shock tactics they pull. A few months back they were distributing a book to children about how evil mothers were that wore fur... with nice, graphic photos of the violence involved. Actually, I'm surprised it took them till January 3rd to comment on it.

The game is coming out February 9th. Shin mentioned it in his first post and I've heard nothing about it changing. In fact, review sites already have their copies. Looking forward to it :D
Originally posted by vicky Killing myself would just hurt others, but dieing old or something wouldn't, but the thought of someones daughter, or family member killing themselves makes people sick, so I'd rather wait until someone kills me. I'm just not bothered anymore...
I'm sorry, I wasn't referring to your post, Vicky. I was referring to the original poster and her idea of "why bother if you're just going to die anyway" heh. Maybe I should start quoting people to avoid these misunderstandings lol. Unless you already knew this, in which case, I apologize again.

If you feel this way, you might as well kill yourself right now. If you don't want to kill yourself, then there obviously is some reason for you to live. Why else would you bother? The idea of dying ever since you were born is a rather moronic one that I think is only used well in songs and poetry ("The minute that it's born, it begins to die; I'd love to just give in, I'd love to live this lie" -- for example). It's not something that can be taken literally and applied to life. Dying things don't grow or develop, unlike you or anyone else here. I have a skewed opinion on death. It bothers some people, mostly those close to me. The idea is simply when I die, I die. When I'm gone, I'm gone. I spend no time thinking about it. I spend no time worrying over it or the aftermath or where I'll go or anything in that vein. It's inevitable and I figure when I die, my time has simply come. Nothing can be done about it, so why worry? I have no real regrets. However, that doesn't mean I'm even remotely suicidal. To me, my life is simply a means to an end. There are things I'd like to accomplish, things I'd like to feel, things I'd like to see. If you have nothing in your life that you feel like that about even remotely, you're already dead anyway.

You're jumping from the abuse of a drug to the idea of something having drawbacks as well as benefits. Something that is basically going to kill these people anyway. Cocaine was mainly prescribed as an anesthetic for stuff like toothaches. It's barely comparable to chemo. Any drug can be harmful in excessive amounts, so that's not even the issue. Cocaine was banned not only because of its abusive qualities, but because of the damage it caused. The main issue was arisen when people started snorting, which became the most popular method of use (now maybe we wouldn't have the same laws on the drug if people never snorted it, but I'm not interested in being hypothetical lol). People were reporting nasal damage, among other problems. Thousands of people were dying from it a year and this was in like 1915. The US was nowhere the size it is now. It wasn't simply that it was being abused by a select group of people. What had become the everyday method of using something, sold in every drugstore in the country mind you, was killing people. This isn't comparable to chemotherapy. I can't just go to the drugstore and have them do that to me. LSD is illegal because of panic attacks and psychotic reactions. It takes over the part of the brain that controls emotions and consciousness. These problems can reappear for weeks after you even taken any acid and are not remotely dependent on abuse. You could argue that there are other hallucinogens that are probably legal, but the difference between those and LSD is that the person who takes it can't differentiate between reality and illusion whatsoever. This is useful compared to the one benefit you've listed? It's not some conspiracy to deny people a good, fun time. Most countries have the idea that any drug that makes people deviate from the norm like this is not worth having around. It doesn't always have to do with abuse, as I've said here. The analogies and such being drawn so far aren't really working for me lol... although I do agree with some of your points.
-
I don't know how someone can use the idea of drugs being used as beneficial treatments 30 or 40 years ago in an argument. You do realize that studies have furthered since then? It's like someone thinking DDT is still benficial to use because people thought it was good in the 40s.

As if none of you thought this way at that kid's age. I know I would have rather have been playing videogames or drawing pictures than sitting in class when I was that old. The last thing that would have been of use would be a bunch of people yelling at me and saying how stupid I was. He'll figure out that this opinion is short-sighted eventually. If not, he'll wind up in a gutter somewhere searching for pennies in the mud. If one doesn't realize this, they're probably best off living in ignorance anyway.

I hate movies like that -_-
I really like "Dude, Where's My Car?". This probably makes a few people lose tons of respect for me, but I don't care. It's so freaking random and strange that I can't help but fall in love with it. Aliens, cults, girls... what else can you want? Plus the dialogue is so ridiculous. You can tell that whoever wrote it knew just how stupid it sounded. Bonus points in my book. That and Zoolander are two of the most underrated stupid comedies in recent years. Anyway, this movie looks decent, but I'm not going to pay $9.25 to see it. I'll wait until its inevitable DVD release and rent it when I'm bored.

Nothing shows up. You're probably best off attaching these images to your posts. It would be easier for everyone.
