1. I thought people always new this was a remake. I suppose the "Zero" could throw someone off, but yeah heh. The game apparently contains the original NES Metroid game too.
2. I try to avoid caffeine as much as possible. However, straight black coffee really offers nothing more than that. It's terrible on its own. I have to put tons of cream and sweetener in it to even consider drinking it. I do like mochas and the like, though.
3. Ah, it does. I don't know if you've seen Ed Wood or Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas... most people haven't, in my experience. I'm not sure if you'd like the films' subject matter, but I think they do a good job of showing what he was capable. So Pirates, for me, wasn't too much of a stretch for him heh.
4. You know, I don't want to sound like a jerk, but I don't get why some people would name Johnny Depp. It's not just in this thread, but in general. So many people have seen Pirates of the Carribean and apprently have become his biggest fans because of it. Mentions of his other films are rarely made. It's just Pirates over and over. And not to single you out, SasukeUchiha, lol... but have you seen him anything else? I don't know how anyone could not think Depp, of all people, would not be able to pull that character off based on his past. I don't really feel that Jack Sparrow is anymore difficult to pull off than Raoul Duke in Fear and Loathing. Oh well lol. Depp is my favorite actor because he's been amongst the top few for many, many years. Edward Scissorhands, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Blow, Ed Wood, Dead Man, etc. Even if the film he is in isn't that good, he alone seemingly saves it with his performance. I can't say I would have even cared about Pirates of the Carribean if it weren't for him. I also like Kevin Spacey, who despite being in the awful K-Pax is still great on so many levels. Brad Pitt, despite his stigma as a pretty boy, has pulled off some excellent performances in movies like Seven. Other than that, it comes and goes.
5. There's been stuff like this in the past. If you're worried about spamming, there's obviously polls.
6. I really do think that some people just have an eye for these things. Practice will make anyone improve, but some people are just inheirently better at this stuff. No matter how much someone practices, I think many of them just hit this wall because they don't really have the pure talent to get past it. I've seen that happen countless times. That in no way means that some person who is amazing now was amazing when he first started. I don't think that's even the idea of inheirant talent. These people are just able to go farther with it. Some people will never figure out what colors go with what colors or what typeface is best for a certain situation or how to draw smoothly.
7. You'll have to say a bit more in the future or someone will probably close your thread. Discussion! lol Anyway, as I've said in the past... Mars Volta is nothing special to me. At the Drive-In was so much better and it just feels like they're living off the remnants of that band (member-wise, they are). I can't see them every topping something like In Casino Out, but that's me.
8. Dogs still crap in the Winter months. I still have to pick it up and now I'd say it's even worse. It's either buried beneath snow or frozen stuck to the ground. Fun.
9. MrSonic is banned. I don't think he'll be adding to this anytime soon.
10. I've been surrounded by drugs most of my life. My dad did cocaine and probably other things. My grandfather once commented that he thought my dad joining the Navy when he was younger was the best thing he ever did, because it got him off of that stuff. I didn't tell him that my dad still did that stuff well after he left the Navy. He was already dead at that point, so why ruin the memory? In any case, most of my parents' family friends did this stuff. They'd try to hide it, but anyone with eyes would see it from time to time. My stepfather is pretty big on marijuana. He used to grow it in the basement and there's pipes and bongs around the basement from time to time. Anyway, what I'm getting at, is that I don't really think any of these people are bad because of this. They just got into something that perhaps they shouldn't have. However, being that they are older than I am, do what is required of them otherwise and other things to that effect... I can't say I'm in a position to say anything about it. Personally, I have absolutely no interest in drugs on any level. I don't even have the desire to try it once. I'm messed up enough as it is when I'm sober. I don't need something altering that. In addition to that, I just do not like the idea of me not having control of my actions. It's the same reason why I don't drink... despite all the "do it in moderation" stuff people tell me. For other people, eh. They can do what they want. I'd rather my friends didn't do these sorts of things (none do drugs that I know of and only a few drink occasionally), but I've grown past the phase where I get mad at them about it. They have to make their own choices.
11. I really hope this thread doesn't decend into that "hidden messages in Disney films" crap. We already had a thread on it where the majority of people showed they don't know what they're talking about. In Aladdin, combined with the rumor and the fact that people try and hear that line, they're simply going to think it's there even if its not. It's a proven idea in other similar situations too. There's excuses for the Lion King thing (whether or not anyone believes them, I don't know) and the Little Mermaid priest thing is totally ridiculous if you bother to watch the scene and see that it is his knee. It's not there. Please, let's keep off this subject lol. In any case, I love Disney movies. I own pretty much every animated film (in the masterpieces category anyway, not those direct-to-video sequels). I buy what I can on DVD, so Alice in Wonderland is next. I was disappointed to hear that Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 were being discontinued in traditional Disney fashion. I still haven't got them. My favorites are Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland and The Emperor's New Groove, personally. There's also this large group of films they put out that I think are really underrated like The Black Cauldron, Pocahontas and The Sword in the Stone.
12. An anime no one ever really talks about is Nadia: Secret of Blue Water. It got some name recognition when anime nerds complained that Disney's Atlantis ripped it off, but that's about it. I really love Nadia. It's light hearted and fun, but can get serious at times. It has pretty much everything in it that I like to see in an animated series. My only complaint is the dub, because yet again you have a hero who can't keep their accent straight. DBZ being mentioned in an underrated thread melts my brain. Even ignoring the fact that I am not into the show, it's literally everywhere and hugely successful. How is that underrated?

The Oscars

The Golden Globes are over, but no one cares about those. The Oscar is apparently more important, although I usually think they're a farce as it is -- although not as bad as the Grammys. In any case, the nominees were announced this morning... 14. I'm sorry to bring this back, but I really think it died too early. There has to be more for people to say heh. I wanted to add Speakerboxxx/The Love Below to my list. I've had it since the week it came out, but I really didn't give it much time until the last month or so. The Love Below is fun on its own, but I'm finding myself more and more interested in Speakerboxxx. It's odd because that CD is a bit more hip-hoppy, while The Love Below reminds me more of a funk sound. However, I'm almost dead from lack of sleep, so if I'm confused, I apologize. Really solid set. I'm really into Ghettomusick and Last Call, among others.
15. This has been known for quite some time... at least for me thanks to a few people I know. There was apparently a big problem with something similar to this in California a long while back. I'm surprised it took the average kid this long to find out about it. That or it took the average parent this long to figure out that their kids were doing it. Probably the latter.
16. The fact that anyone would even name Jeepers Creepers 2 in a best anything makes me sick to my stomach. What a freaking horrible movie. I already complained about that in its own thread though, so I won't bother here heh. I've not seen half the "Oscar worthy" movies out there, so eh lol... here's mine. 1.) Big Fish - Most people probably saw this in 2004, but it opened on Christmas here. I saw it the day after and absolutely love it. Good story, great characters, great imagery. Solid all around. What a great ending, too. 2.) Cabin Fever - Freaking awesome. When we left the theater after this, most people were complaining that it was more funny than good. What did they see? Yes, it's humorous. Good horror movies of this type usually are. You can't deny how brutal it was at times and it was just so random. Loved it. 3.) Finding Nemo - I think this was a bit more patronizing than some other Pixar films. I also could have done without the surfer turtles, and I swear I'm the only person on the planet who wishes some fisherman would cook and eat Dory. However, the film looked amazing. It had a good story. It had good characters. I've seen it a few times and it's just as good still. 4.) House of 1,000 Corpses - I know for a fact most people will hate this movie. They will say it's nasty, has no redeeming factors, etc. I don't care. Some people say Rob Zombie took this too seriously and wound up with something that turned out to be a joke. Personally, I think it's more of a tribute or a satire. It's so ridiculously weird that I don't know how it could be anything else. Cheesy dialogue, bizarre scene shifts, cliche teenage fodder, insane evil characters... Sure, sometimes it felt like things were stuck in just for the hell of it to see what could be gotten away with, but what the hell. I thought it was a lot of fun. Plus it was just so relentlessly violent. It's not scary, it's just plain mean. However, unlike the TCM remake (which I hated, by the way), I enjoyed this despite its mean spirit. The killings were weird and original (my main issue with the TCM remake...). The gore was incredibly well done. It actually had a sense of humor, as messed up as it was. Great make up effects. I also think that the actors did a great job with the stilted dialogue many of them were given (another thing I think was done on purpose, honestly). I don't know, I really enjoyed it. Enough to see it twice in the theater. I've never done that before. Dr. Satan and the giant guy (whose name I forget), really need their own movie. Especially the giant guy. What an awesome creation. 5.) [strike]I guess a tie between X-Men 2 and Return of the King. Both were good. Return of the King loses some of its flair since I've read the book and seen the stupid cartoon...[/strike] Kill Bill, Vol. One
17. I take care of very specific things. Videogames - This is probably the cleanest part of my room. I dust it pretty much daily, I have the wires neat and bundled up when there's excess, all the games are packed away, controllers are wrapped and packed anyway, etc. Comics - They all go into a box. Unlike nearly everything else, as soon as I get in here, I put my new comics in the box. I don't even think about it anymore. MP3s - I'm very particular about this. I have them sorted on my computer by genre > band > cd type (LP, EP, single, etc) > cd name. Every last one of them. They're all tited in a very specific way, too. Band - Album - Track - Title (so for example -- "Death in Vegas - Scorpio Rising - 01 - Leather"). I'm really picky about titles and stuff too, so if things are capitalized properly I fix the filename and ID3 tags. So that's about it.
18. My girlfriend and her friends all do it, for whatever reason. They sometimes all get together and work on them... like a party, I guess. The only thing I don't like about them is that if they stick in a picture of me, it usually is a really bad picture. Stupid things.
19. I have no interest in other Everquest games, I can tell you that heh. I hate RTS games and MMORPGs aren't for me. This is in the vein of Dark Alliance... it just seems like more of an update than the actual sequel to that game. Snowblind moved on to this, while Interplay itself basically just created more levels with the original Dark Alliance engine. It seems to be getting more positive impressions so far. It's online too, which doesn't hurt.

21. I'm mostly upset of the fact that Robotech and Macross were left out of these entirely. In my opinion, that's where it's at. I love the Valkyries.
22. Well, I don't really know how anyone can be of help in this in that case. I can understand how someone could like a band or genre enough that they want to keep it to themselves. A good example of that here was punk, which had pretty much an explosion in the 90s thanks to bands like Green Day. Many original fans disowned them, other punk bands got big and had the same result. Now you have people complaining about what's "real" punk and what's not. The problem is that things just don't work that way. Bands are on labels to get somewhere, to get more fans, etc. I'm sure they don't want to be working at the local fast food restaurant the rest of their lives and pop out some music to buy every so often for two dozen fans. I'm assuming you're referring to Japanese music and in that case, I guess not much can be said about that. People can buy some of that stuff, but it's not exactly cheap, so yeah I would agree that the piracy is pretty rampant. On the other hand, I listen to bands from other countries as well... and I'm not on a crusade to keep them all to myself. I really don't see how that can be a concern about anything more than an image, simply because some people like to be the go-to guy for obscure music information lol. It's not as if there's not other people on the planet that know more about the subject than you or I or whoever else. Seems like something trivial to get annoyed over, but I guess I can understand it in a way. I, personally, prefer people who know around as much as I do about a subject. It's good music conversation. I don't like to constantly be in situations where I have to tell this person all about the band because they only know two songs off the radio... if that.
23. From what I remembered, the first only had three chapters. I don't think you can carry over your stats, but I could be wrong. From what I saw, the classes were changed around a bit, so those characters might not even be the same in the second one. In any case, I'm skipping this even though I loved the original. Snowblind was responsible for the first, but not the second. They've gone on to make some Everquest game in this vein which apparently is very good. I plan on getting that instead.

25. It's best for everyone if they get more fans. More sales, more concerts, more reason to keep going. I don't own these bands. Now I'll admit it's annoying when you're talking to someone that claims to be an expert on a certain subject, but then you get far enough into it to realize they know next to nothing about it. I've had that happen to me countless times with anything, not just music. That's just an general problem with things, not something specific to music. If I thought like that, I'd probably hate everything. What's the fun in that? Personally, I'd rather share my love of the band. For every few idiots, you'll get one person who genuinely likes the band and would be a true fan of it. That's fine enough with me. There's people who like the Misfits because they sing about "killing babies and raping girls!". Obviously these people are stupid. They don't get the point of the horror theme or any of the satire. So I just don't relate with these people. It doesn't lessen my enjoyment of the music. I'm not that selfish. If someone is talking to me and they have a poor opinion on the band thanks to some random idiot, I do my best to inform them of the truth. Not a big deal. As for your problem, I don't know what to tell you. It seems more like you care about your image as a so-called "guru" than you actually care about the music. In wrist cutter's case, I don't think he takes that idea as far as you are saying you do. So you have to just sit there and think about what's more important in that situation: your ego or the success of the bands you like.
