Originally posted by AzureWolf It's rare to find a hardcore/professional gamer who prefers the PC to consoles, mind you. Haha, don't think I ever met one!
Well I can tell you they exist heh. There's a lot of them actually. The people who are always paying attention to the newest cards, comparisons, driver releases. I'd say the people I know who are PC gamers would be "hardcore" (I hate that word lol) far more than any console gamer I've met. There are fanboys for anything. Multiplayer depends. I don't spend all that long playing games online. I just don't like playing games on my monitor, to be honest... but there are many that transcend that.

I actually made threads for both way back. I never bothered to get the new Ozma CD, so I guess I had nothing more to say. Rock and Roll Part III and The Doubble Donkey disc are both great. The lyrics sometimes seem like they try too hard, but they're still well written. There's a lot of great lines in there. The actual instrument playing is pretty amazing at times, especially considering their ages. I was on an Ozma kick for quite some time. I was pretty partial to Baseball for awhile. Weezer I've never gotten into as much. They're good, but I spend very little time listening to them. Pinkteron and the Blue Album mostly. For some reason the name of my favorite track escapes me.

For the most part, I usually equate wisdom with actual life experience. People can read about anything in the world online and claim they get it, spouting off facts (and not-so-facts) and everything else. So when someone is truly wise in a subject, I feel that they truly understand it from more than one angle and know how to apply it to actual situations. Anyway, that's all I feel like saying heh.

For print quality pictures... I'm assuming you mean images between 150 and 300 pixels/inch? If so that really sucks as that's what I have to work in a good deal of the time. I was thinking of picking this up since the price obviously is a big difference... the new CS version is like $650 by itself. That and PSP just does some things better than Photoshop (although I never liked PSP's layers support). But that really messed up my plans. I don't want to bother if that's an issue. I get Photoshop through my cousin's work, so I guess I can stick with that and PSP 7 in the meantime.

Dragon Warrior 7 didn't look so hot, but it still managed to make it over here. And that was when Enix was still on its own with a struggling US office. The game didn't sell to poorly either... well over 150,000 copies (I don't know the official number, but Enix was very happy with it. It exceeded expectations), which is nothing compared to something like FF here, but it's not bad for a game of its type. It's very comparable in sales with most other RPGs The various Game Boy versions have sold rather well too. DW4 didn't make it over because Heartbeat (the company that made the game for Enix -- all DQ games are outsourced) broke up or something like that. Their developers were required to actually get into the game and apply the English text to it. So basically, it wasn't possible for them to. Now that Enix of America itself is now a much bigger and better Square Enix of America, I have much higher hopes that I used to. DQ5 is actually looking pretty good too. It's fully 3D now, but still retains the classic look. We'll see.

Dragon Warrior IV was excellent. I really wish the Playstation remake got translated. I would have loved to get it. I'm praying the PS2 remake of Dragon Quest V will make it here. Seems likely now that Enix has more backing in the US thanks to Square.

It's really getting annoying how many lies are being thrown around too. First there was that whole love letter report, which was proven false. The Jackson going crazy in his plane, also false. I don't even know what to believe. News on the subject seems questionable, even on respectable news stations, considering all the mess ups. People are just reaching. Even if he did do this stuff, what the guy does to his skin or whatever else has nothing to do with it. All the bitching this forum does about people judging on appearances and what they are into, and it's just being turned on this guy. It's moronic.

I meant LB instead of LP lol. Despite the mix up, I think that was rather obvious... but oh well. Anyway, that wasn't to be confused with record lengths. There are actually quite a few EPs out there... Most people just figure they're full LPs or even maxi-singles though. In any case, I think the only member most people cared for in LB was Borland, simply because he was the only one with any actual talent.
-
Fred Durst may have "fame", but it has more or less debased itself into infamy instead. Most of LBs sale potential is more or less gone. The new CD is not spoken of well by critics, and last I heard isn't performing well on the charts either. Despite that, there's no such thing as too much to this guy. I remember when Borland left... LB tried to make itself seem as though it loved the fans and did try-outs for a replacement at random guitar stores. They advertised the hell out of this. People waited forever to get to play. Each applicant was sent in a room and told to sign some sort of agreement. If you didn't, you couldn't try out. Of course, the prospect of being in the band clouds people's judgement and I doubt many read it. So they went in this room and were told to play. The thing is that the amps were set to mud settings and sounded like total crap. Many people were also playing pieces they worked on for quite some time, they weren't given LB stuff to play. The agreement they signed basically said that whatever they played became property of LB and that was that. So they got a ton of free riffs at the cost of applicants. Which, yes, can be attributed to people not reading, but at the same time... it's still pretty shady. To top it off, they didn't even attempt to pick any of the people who tried out at these stores. They wound up with another guy. So I don't know, but I don't like LB as a whole. Borland left because he didn't think the band was going anywhere musically. He felt trapped in a wheel, basically. Smart guy.

I'm not going to get into most of this, but in our every day lives there are a lot of people we're supposed to love, pretty much no matter what. Family basically. That doesn't mean you will, or even should, but I think people get my point. In a relationship situation with a partner, I think it's a really nice thing to know that the person loves you simply because they want to, and vice-versa. In most normal cases, there'd be no other reason to stick around. I could easily break contact with a girlfriend, but I cannot do that with my family -- they're pretty unavoidable lol. To me that's a very big dividing line. Hopefully that made sense.

It's a good game, I suppose. I remember when I got the original game, Jet Grind Radio, on the Dreamcast. It's still my favorite game on the system. It looked great, the style was excellent, the levels were well designed, the music rocked and the game was challenging. JSRF, in a sense, was a disappointment. The game obviously looks amazingly good and the style is still there. I'm not as fond of the music as in the original though, which brings it down a bit. The main problem was all the ideas from the first that I loved that were totally removed. First, in JSRF when you tag... you just press the button and that's that. On JGR, you had to move the stick around in certain ways to actually finish the tag. This was made more frantic by the fact that the Rokaku Police were actually in the level almost the entire time. In JSRF, there's no one. You can just aimlessly skate around and that's that. The sense of challenge was completely lost, and the resulting boss fights were really lame overall. Then there was the removal of the time limit. I'm sure many liked this, but I didn't. When I have goals in a level, I'd rather have a time to do them in. In JGR this added even more challenge to the game, something that is just nonexistant in JSRF. You have all the time in the world, and coupled with the fact that you basically cannot lose, makes the game just seem so much more dull by comparison. It's still good, but I much prefer the first.

I've Been Tired rocks. I'm thinking I should add upon my orginal post. I didn't say as much as I would have liked. I don't have a soft spot for normal love songs at all... however, I do love the morbid (and often sarcastic) love songs that many bands have done. I Put a Spell on You is a very good example. I doubt many people think about it like it was originally intended anymore... especially with Bette Midler singing it in Hocus Pocus. Screamin' Jay Hawkins did the original version (which has an awesome backup line). My favorite version is by (surprise) Marilyn Manson. Marilyn Manson actually has quite a few love songs, although many are not traditional. Sweet Tooth is one of them, and also another favorite of mine. It's about a rather abusive relationship, but that's why I like it heh. A good example of a more traditional love song by the bad is The Last Day on Earth, which is really a beautiful song. Keeping with the theme... I'd also mention Possum Kingdom by the Toadies and Happy Child by tweaker (with Will Oldham on vocals -- he's an awesome, dark-minded country singer). Both seem to basically be about murdering the person they love, simply because they don't want anyone else having them). The Toadies also did Tyler and Jigsaw, which are also good examples. Anyway, I've always been into the evil-minded, morbid and sarcastic love songs out there. I'm not about to kill anyone though........ heh. Anatema and I had a small conversation about some Smiths stuff too. There's plenty of great examples in there. The Cure too, actually. Puscifier did another great one... the name escapes me though.

There's a few female fronted metal bands that I think are very good... but not many. The main one that always comes to mind is Jack Off Jill, which was great. Especially their final release. The vocalist, Jessicka, has this childlike choir voice most of the time, but she screams quite a bit. I'm pretty fond of her heh. Generally, if a female is vocalist in a heavier band... I prefer that it is some sort of industrial/electronica music, which actual singing voices seem to sound good with. Kidneythieves, Curve, Massive Attack etc. Anyway, Otep is okay. In their case, I agree with Olga. I cannot listen to them much before it starts grating on my nerves.
-
Well, I personally don't feel I can trust someone's judgement on the status of a band if they can't even figure out the name of the main member.
-
I was planning on starting this myself, but you beat me heh. I've been playing it for a few days. I don't know an exact time amount, but I'm in
Beanbean Kingdom collecting Beanbean coins to pass some big King guy.
It's a lot of fun. The controls take some getting used to, especially jumping one after another... but it makes sense. I'm surprised no one thought of this sooner. I love the speech in the game too. Instead of hearing constant "Mama Mia!!!"s you get this weird jibberish language. Mario and Luigi don't actually say things you can read, which is a nice touch. Luigi is great too. The animations he does, and how he does little things to make people not ignore him. Good stuff so far.

Well, for the shell thing... as I said, three different characters all hitting me with one right after another? It wasn't Koopa Troopa with his specials, I can tell you that. I got to watch each one of them speed past me. I don't know how you could get the same CPU character with red shells three times in a row in a normal situation though. Most of the time you'll get past the character with the first one, and maybe the second would seal the deal. But not three perfectly timed to hit you as soon as you start driving again. Then follow that by lightning... something characters seem to get an awful lot. You know, I've gotten that once in the entire game? I'm done talking about it lol. Just doesn't sound normal to me. Almost all I get in 150cc are bananas and green shells. Most any other item is a rarity. Anyway, it really seems to depend with the items. I noticed that in higher cc settings you just get those items less and less anyway. Like I said, I didn't get my special once in the 150cc All Cup Grand Prix... and for the characters I used, both of their specials were Golden Mushrooms. Oh well.
Originally posted by Hells Fire I call this entire thing hype. He has a new CD coming out and people are going to buy it because they want to hear if he mentions little boys in it.
I've never heard anyone tell me they wanted to listen to one of his CDs for this reason in my entire life. Judging from the sales of Invincible, I doubt it has any effect at all. Who would be behind it anyway? I severely doubt the police even care how well his CDs do. I also severely doubt anyone involved with Jackson wants to tarnish his poor reputation even more... especially considering that they keep harping on the "You're doing this so close to my CD's release to make it sell badly!" angle.

Why do some of these posts give the impression that people think the vocalist's name is Limp Bizkit? That's the band. His name is Fred Durst. It's as equally strange as people calling Clare Torry "Pink Floyd". Maybe I'm just reading the post wrong lol. In any case, I never thought these guys were anything special. A terrible mix of nu-metal, hip hop based rhymes and stupid antics. No thanks. The only decent part of the band, Wes Borland, is long gone and on to better things from what I've seen. That guy at least has my respect, based on his comments when he left. The rest of the band can rot, in my opinion.

If you've actually read the rap, it's horrible. At least he has improved since then. I do find it ironic that many rap songs by black artists have slurs against whites and other races, but that's no big deal. Why is this so much different? I don't really get why anyone cares. In fact, most people I know who are into that culture and style of music don't even seem to care about this, regardless of race. Seems like one of those media problems more than anything else.

Even taking the play into account (I believe there was also a story), that whole argument is ridiculous. He named his themepark Neverland??? What!? That man cannot be trusted at all!!! He cannot seperate fantasy from reality!!! What a freak! Give me a break. That's one of the dumbest supporting reasons to think he did anything that I've ever heard in my life. In any case, based on what I know about Jackson... I don't feel that he did it. The guy was abused emotionally as a child. Taking into account some of the things his dad said to him, many explain a lot of the strange things the guy has done to himself voer the years. I'm not saying they're "normal", but I understand his motivations. The guy also lost his childhood. That's the reason why Peter Pan is literally all over his themepark/home. Peter Pan never grew up. He totally personifies childhood. It doesn't say one thing about the rest of his personality whatsoever. I also think this is part of the reason why he surrounds himself with children and other items people associate with youth. I don't really think he did it to be honest. A lot of what's going on seems really bizarre, especially from the family's angle. Who knows what happened though. Edit - You know, if I had enough money to afford my own theme park... I'd probably fill it with goofy cartoon characters too. Watch out, I might become a child molester.

It still strikes me as unfair considering how often it happens. You're very unlikely to be hit by 3 red shells since they automatically home in on whoever is directly ahead of the one who shot him. I got passed up after being hit each time too... so basically three karts all had a red shell and the shot me as soon as the other one's effect wore off. I played the 150cc All Cup Grand Prix tonight and the characters in front of me just kept getting their special items over and over and over again. Through all 16 tracks, I didn't even get mine once. That doesn't seem right, honestly. I came in first anyway, but some of the methods that are used to keep you from winning just strike me as overly cheap. At least the rubberband AI seems to be disposed of. In any case, I unlocked mirror mode and finished the Mushroom Cup in it. I was rather annoyed that only one of the All Cup modes even gave you a prize for completing them.

If you consider them the greatest rock band, I'd hope you'd know more about their history than "like an 80s band or somethin" and their two biggest songs lol. They actually started in the early 70s and continued into the early 90s, before Mercury passed away. He actually died the day after he announced that he had AIDS. It's a shame too, because they were pretty much returning to their glory days at that point. Sometime after that, Wayne's World came out and totally repopuliarized Bohemian Rhapsody, which is always a great thing. They seeminly started falling out of the public eye before that. It's one of the best rock songs I've heard, honestly. The way it switches styles so flawlessly is still amazing. It's almost unimaginable that some stations didn't want to play it as a single due to its length. There was actually a musical called We Will Rock You that came out rather recently too. Queen is a really great band. I don't know that I'd put them in my absolute favorites, but they're pretty high up there. They do have a lot of amazing songs, but what holds them back is a rather large amount of totally lackluster ones... in my opinion anyway. My personal favorite song of theirs is Killer Queen. Stone Cold Crazy is also pretty high up there. Despite my love for Bowie, I've never been a huge fan of Under Pressure.

That form of Satanism is one designed by Anton La Vey, also known as "The Black Pope". I guess you could call it a form of athiesm, but it's a bit more complicated than that. It teaches, more or less, that you're your own "god" in a sense. However, Satanists actually do believe in a God, but simply as a thing that balances nature... the Satanic Bible itself states that a Satanist simply chooses the definiton of god that suits them best, simply because the meaning of it has changed so much over history. The creation of the Church of Satan was out of La Vey's need for a church that would celebrate man's body and his base, carnal desires. It's rather structured, considering how simple it sounds. I actually looked into it pretty heavily years back. It's not a bad alternative in some cases, I suppose lol I don't think a lot of people realize its existance versus the traditional view of Satanism, obviously because of the name La Vey gave it conflicts with normal beliefs. In either case, the religion is not something Christians would agree with. It celebrates sinful behavior as a basic rule. So in either definition, it would be attacked anyway. That's all I had to say lol... that and I edited the thread to spell "pagan" right. That's been driving me insane. Edit- added more to clarify what I was saying about Satanism.

Muse and Blink 182 are entirely different bands in every respect. I just found it funny that they had a song with the same title, especially ones released so close together. It's just a coincidence.
