1. There isn't anywhere to post this because it isn't allowed... which you would know if you read the Information Center. You can advertise in your sig, but cannot create threads/posts for the sole intent of advertising.
2. I hate Thanksgiving. The idea behind it is fine enough, but at this point all it is is an excuse for my family to make tons of food I have no interest in eating whatsoever.

Mario Party 5

They're just called 1-Up. My site is 1-Up Gaming :(. Pisses me off that they took the name honestly. I don't know if it doesn't sound "promising", it just sounds like they're using tons of words to tell you it's more of the same. I had fun with Mario Party 4 in short bursts, so I doubt this game is all that bad.
4. Intro threads are no longer allowed here due to some past occurances... heh. We'll leave it at that. However, enjoy your time here and make sure to read the rules. Thanks.
5. Since so many people like this band... Check this out: http://www.regalcm.com/index.asp It's a list of places that are screening the upcoming live Linkin Park DVD. Should be fun, I think.

The Cure

Shouldn't be all that hard to find most of it. I've grabbed most of my collection of their stuff at used CD stores. I love those places. There's always that Greatest Hits collection that came out somewhat recently... I'm not a fan of collections because they always leave great stuff out and generally choose the edited single versions... plus most CD should be played in their entirety. But it is a good stepping stone.

The Cure

I know some people here like The Cure, specifically Anatema... heh. Anyway, they're one of my favorite bands. I'm not well versed in their history, but pretty much every release of theirs has a few classic songs on it. It's odd how long they've been around too... they're one of those bands your parents probably listened to at one point in time. Personally, my favorite release of their's is what Smith (the vocalist) claims is their last release -- Bloodflowers. I know many other people choose stuff from far earlier in their career, but this CD has a special place for me for whatever reason. The whole thing is just so depressing and beautiful, although at times it is slightly reassuring. Some of the songs are a bit long by most rock standards, but they're all pulled off very well. I never get the sense that any are longer than they should be. My favorite tracks on the CD are Bloodflowers, Maybe Someday, The Last Day of Summer and particularly 39. That song is amazing on so many levels. You can really feel the emotion in these songs... the entire CD really. I wish all Cure releases were that involved. Anyway, when it gets cold out I tend to listen to totally different music than when it's nicer out. So no fast upbeat music like Apocalypse Hoboken for the most part. These guys are one of the bands that fill that void, along with The Smiths, Menomena, Modest Mouse, Mogwai and random others. So any other fans?
8. It's probably because someone in that thread has their banner hosted in a thread with that title. So what it loads up, it shows you as viewing that attachment. It's nothing to be concerned over.
9. You guys are being overly hard on it, I think. I wrote a review for theOtaku way back... I'll post it in here. ----------------------------------------------- Metropolis is a film written by Katsuhiro Otomo (of Akira), based on a manga by Osamu Tezuka (famous for Astroboy) which was in turn based on an old silent movie of the same name mady by Fritz Lang. Otomo was orginally set to direct, but was replaced by Rintaro (of Galaxy Express 999 fame) for various reasons. While Tezuka's manga was mostly influenced by the classic Lang movie, the same could be said of the relationship between the manga and this film. The plot has been changed and characters have been changed or added. However, both still retain the same basic theme, which is the relationship between man and his creations. Metropolis is a tri-level city. Like most anime involving this idea, the levels basically split up the classes of the people as well. The film never tries to make this a main point though, and although some time is spent on the idea (along with the revolutionaries involved), it always remains secondary. I've met some people that felt that this was a problem, as it was never very developed... I tend to disagree, as it's not even the point of the movie. It seems to only exist to move the main characters forward and give a bit of backstory behind Duke Red's actions. The main plot of the film of course involves Tima. The plot is more or less driven by the friendship between her and Kenichi. This in turn brings up questions of whether or not robots are able to or can be loved, much like the movie A.I. Kenichi at first has no knowledge of Tima's purpose, or even that she is a robot. Character wise, I felt all were well developed. The detective and his robotic partner, Pero, serve almost as tour guides of the city. They provide the factual information on Metropolis, as well as the characters and some of the things going on. What's interesting about the film is that none of the characters are right out evil. Duke Red could be described as such, but a lot of what he is doing is based on the love of his daughter, which I would think some would sympathize with. Rock seems to be conflicted, and is brought to violence mostly because of the rejection of his father and his lack of any true placement. At the same time, you get a sense that none of the characters are really developed as much as they could have been (outside if Tima and Kenichi)... But I guess that's to be expected when you put so much into a 108 minute film. Visually, Metropolis is beautiful. The city is enormous and strikingly detailed, with many vivid colors. Much of the movie uses computer models, but they rarely stand out as being too obvious. It all comes together rather well. The main point of debate seems to be the character designs. They are based on Tezuka's originals, and so resemble Astroboy more than any current anime. There are no harsh lines, or spiky haircuts. Everything is smooth, soft and rounded. The character designs alone have turned many, many people off to this movie before even seeing it. The dubbing is also quite good. The voices seemed to fit the characters well, and the dialogue flows nicely for the most part. There are times when characters say something that sounds odd or out of place, but they are mostly said by the detective or Pero when they are spouting out facts. Musically, the film is rather surprising. The whole soundtrack has a jazz and bigband style to it, something that isn't very common in anime. It does fit well in my opinion, and I liked the inclusion of Ray Charles' "I Can't Stop Loving You" during the climax of the film. I've found that many people think it doesn't fit the action going on screen at the time, but I feel it fits with everything that has led up to that point. I would like to say this movie isn't for everyone though. Many people seem to find it very slow paced, and there were times during it that I was honestly rather bored. On top of this, as mentioned before the character designs don't sit well with many people, especially considering how detailed the backdrops are. So in short, I think Metropolis is something everyone should see, if only for its imagery. If you can get past the unconventional (at this time anyway) character designs, you will see how truly beautiful this anime is. The story and characters are well balanced most of the time, even if it doesn't really bring anything incredibly original to the table. ----------------- So yeah, to be honest I find it fairly boring at times. I had to watch it 4 times before I could get through it without falling asleep. It's still amazing looking at times and enjoyable. Has faults obviously
10. Not to burst your bubble, but all of this was posted on their site on April 1st, aka April Fools Day. I believe these shots are from FFXI or something. I forget.
11. As most people know I don't exactly love FF... but I'm really, really excited about FFXII. Mostly because of the people involved, it's not all the same people as the past ones. I can't remember everyone at this point, but people involved with Vagrant Story are doing the designs for example (which probably explains the Chocobo). No Nomura! Yay. However, at the same time I am very disappointed with the designs. The look is not what I expected and it's almost like they were trying to emulate Nomura's designs. Problem is that they made the girl look so much like Yuna and the male character looks feminine. They're hardly bad and there is finally a change in facial features (I felt many were similar in FFIX and FFX for example). Still looks good. Matsuno is the one in charge now, and I really have high hopes for this game. Just based on the people working on this one, I really expect it to be the best FF yet (mostly because of Matsuno, though)... no matter what the graphics are like. Gameplay should be awesome. 12. The powerslide. It's still in the game in some fashion. I hope Shinmaru was being sarcastic with his Game Informer comment lol Anyway, this review means nothing to me. Why they had Fran do it, I have no idea. Fran is historically very whiny and if he doesn't get exactly what he expects, he complains and judges the game soley based on that. This seems like another one of those situations. Should I trust every review thus far, or the only bad from from a rather average site like IGNCube? The place has gone downhill, I'd say. I think I'll go with EGMs review, personally.
13. Hopefully this is good enough. I've not played many RPGs, so it's hard to know how far to go with things sometimes. I don't exactly pride myself in my story writing ability either lol. Real Name: Unknown, referred to as Persona. Callsign: Death Adder Age: Assumed to be in his mid to late 20s Gender: Male Alliance: Adam's Angels. Biography: Persona is assumed to be from Chicago, as that's generally his place of work. Despite the diminishing presence of the mafia in Chicago, they are one of Persona's top employers. He is highly sought after not only because of his effectiveness, but also because of his silence. Persona never speaks of his job specifics to anyone, even under heavy pressure, something quite rare in his line of work. Much of Persona's past is largely unknown, even to himself. He does not know his birthplace or date. He has no official or rumored ties to any family tree and currently has no one he is close to. The only person he has been emotionally involved with on any level, with is long gone -- cut clean through with his own axes. That person's name is long forgotten by Persona, but she was his caretaker of sorts for a good deal of his teenage life. Most of their time together was spent working together in the same line of work Persona works in know... murder for hire. She got in the way due to her greed, so he killed her. It's that simple in his mind, although exact specifics are unknown. She is main reason that Persona is not interest in material possessions and is generally put off by greed. Despite his love of killing, he still has an affinity for the little guy. Due to the fact that no one knows his name, race, age or any other quality that would allow his past to be searched out, efforts usually go nowhere. At this point, Persona simply is and no one questions it. Many are more concerned with what he can do rather than who he is. Persona has been following the clashes between Adam's Angels and the Southern Vipers very closely. He's hoping for a piece of the action... and hopefully some new blood for his collection. Although watched by both sides, Persona chose to accept the offers presented by Adam's Angels, figuring that they had more of an ability to make it worth his while. Other than his effectiveness, Persona is infamous for his brutality. His victims are rarely left in one piece and often decorate the walls around the fight. He has no interest in keeping things clean and prides himself in his methods, which he looks upon as an art form of such. Persona generally leaves a call sign behind so people know his work. It is always an image of the Happy/Sad drama masks, loosely painted out of his victims blood in some fashion. Entrails have been used in rare occasions. Personality: Despite being a mercenary for most of his life, Persona has no real interest in money or material possessions other than what he needs to get by and supply himself with more weapons. He lives simply for the love of the hunt. The desire of blood. The near ecstacy he gets from killing. Persona simply loves what he does. Other than the obvious, Persona's main eccentric quality is that he collects a vial of blood from each of his victims. No one knows the reasoning for this, but it is assumed he has a large collection by this point. He also has a habit of tasting the blood of his more important kills. Persona can generally be described as "insane" by most people, although his moves are un-mistakenly calculated. Persona rarely jumps into a situation without a plan, although he is very quick to come up with one due to the killing instincts he has developed over the years. He is very knowledgeable on many subjects, but this is largely unknown because of his silence. No one other than Persona himself knows why he wears his mask, but it is generally of no importance to his employers, victims or rivals. He always wears full suits, all of which are brightly colored but somehow don't clash. Persona likes making a lasting impression in both appearance and actions. He keeps all of his body covered at all times, thus no one has seen his eyes, hair or even skin color. Persona believes that eyes lead to weakness as they are gateways to the soul, but he does enjoy looking into the eyes of his victims as he finishes them off. Persona remains mysterious mostly due to his silence. He rarely talks to anyone, other than his employers... and that's simply just to communicate what he has to. Persona does not engage in casual conversation nor does he tell anyone what he plans on doing -- he simply does it. He rarely makes noises during his battles, neither sounds of pain or fatigue. In terms of his opponents, he rarely says more than what he feels needs to be said. Weapon:Persona has no formal training in the use of any particular weapons, unlike most involved. Persona has been known to use a variety of weapons, all of which he seems experienced in. However, Persona's weapon of choice is the axe. Specifically the twin Atilla battle axes that have been with him for as long as he can remember. They are commonly referred to as "Gold" and "Silver" by witnesses to Persona's seemingly uncountable homicides, due obviously to the plating on their designs. Both axes feature an elaborate skull design that has been built into the axe itself. Between the two blades is a spike, used mostly when Persona feels with being creative in his killing methods. The spike itself is interchangeable and he has been known to switch between a short, almost unusable spike (due to it being blocked by the axe blades) and another longer one he seems to use mostly for special occasions. The hilt of each axe is only a couple of feet in length, made out of the same metal as the axe itself. It is wrapped in dark stained bamboo, which is bound with leather straps. The end of the axe has another spike on the end, mostly used to stab victims at odd angles when the axe blade itself cannot be easily used. Both axes are considerably light despite the strength of their materials. Persona is able to effortless swing both around, and turns his movements into a sort of dance almost... Lots of swinging, smooth and clean. You didn't say "free", I think Poison Tongue did. Despite what it consists of, it is still in the console spectrum of things. It competes with other consoles, it has the mindset of a console behind it and console developers support it. Most people think of it is as a console, regardless of its insides. These type of things are not normal in the console market, and I really doubt it would go over well with console owners. I could almost see it being looked upon as an "addon" rather than an entirely new console. I wonder how easily they could update it all anyway, considering the chip route they're taking. I really doubt they'll take that angle.
15. Sara and I tried getting people to label things a bit more clearly... such as saying what sort of writing it is in the title (poems, stories, fanfictions etc), but not many people have done it. I think it would have helped make the area appear a bit more neat and it would definitely make it easier to search for what you wanted in there.
16. The band is actually called Rabbit Joint, from all I've been able to gather.. I've seen it labeled as System of a Down, Mr. Bungle, Generic (videogame band) and Nintendo Power (another videogame band)... but yeah. It doesn't help that so many people online have this labelled as a System song that you can barely find any information on it anymore... and then you have goofy people claiming that System said it was them in an interview. An interview I cannot even find any proof of lol. System actually put a comment on their site saying it's not them... but people seem to ignore that.
17. There is this stupid Halo Pack or something coming out before Christmas. There was a bunch of rumors going around that it was a Halo 2 demo... but apparently it's just a 3rd party controller packed with a DVD that contains video of Halo 2. Exciting.
18. My main memory from Breath of Fire was that annoying quest the game forced you to do where you had to buy a gold bar. Even after getting money from people in town, it was still really expensive. Another game no one seems to talk about anymore is Uniracers. I thought that was pretty damn cool.

Yeah, but I don't think people can look at that as a good reason as to them 100% going with that idea... Companies buy up domains with their names in them all the time, as well as domains with project names. Obviously so other people cannot get them and make some use out of them. Nintendo does that for example. I also realize that MS supposedly has the idea of upgrades... but again, I really don't think it is a good idea. As I said before, console and PC users do not have the same thought process on these things. I can't imagine it would be "free" either, like mentioned earlier in this thread. Despite any discussions on the subject, I doubt it will go through. The whole lighter Xbox thing is still rumor obviously, I've seen little that proves its existance. It would be cool if it came out though, considering the size of the current one. I bet it would help Japanese sales out.
20. The thing I think should be mentioned again is that the paintings shown so far were by people not at the Last Supper and were generally painted who knows how long later. Tori and Shinji both referred to this. How does a painting done after the fact based simply on accounts and a person's own ideas prove anything more than someone's thoughts and ideas now? It doesn't. It's a piece of art. It's not a factual recreation of events at hand that is somehow unexplainably infallible. How it can be referred back to constantly as something that can totally back up any idea, I have no clue. A painting versus actual historic writings and documents from that era... Which should I side with? In any case, I think many people agree this thread has run its course, so I'm closing it. Anyone that disagrees with me can take it up with me personally.
21. You can like it more knowing that System of a Down didn't even do that. Another mislabeled song thanks to Kazaa lol. They only have 3 albums out officially though American, although Steal This Album kind of collects a lot of demos and b-sides and remasters them. However, they do have quite a bit of pre-label material about... and even a fully completed CD that apparently was never released. I managed to find all of that though some friends. Good stuff.

Sigur Ros

I like them and that's about as far as it goes. I own a couple of their albums, but the only one whose name I can rememeber is ( ), which is their most recent to my knowledge. They're great at what they do (actually, really great), but they're one of those bands I just cannot listen to for any extended period of time. I've never been a huge fan of instrumentals, honestly... especially ones as subdued as what Sigur Rós does. It's generally not my thing, but obviously since I bought their releases I am in the mood every so often. They have some great music videos though. One of the ones done for ( ) was excellent. Their site has a nice amount of MP3s for those who want to check it out: http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk/media/index.html
23. Well seeing as though it seems only a couple people saw this, I'd say just ignore most everyone else. I saw it on Sunday and thought it was a very good movie. Obviously it's a little dorky because it's aimed at the family market and Christmas, but it was still fun. A lot of the jokes were funny and I loved the throwbacks to those old claymation Christmas shows like Rudolph.
24. They were around long before Hash Pipe heh. Back when I was in gradeschool actually... which was several years ago now.
25.
Originally posted by Arch More to the point, I do not believe Mary Magdelene was a whore, slut, or any of the other colorful synonyms. God did choose her to give birth to Jesus, didn't he?
Uh, no... these are totally different Marys. But like I said before, there's no proof other than assumptions that Magdalene was any form of prostitute in the first place As for that painting, half the guys in it look like women as it is.
