Yeah, I would advise just getting a region-free DVD player. At this point you could probably get them for cheaper than it would cost to buy a good PS2 mod chip with installation fees. Less headaches, and the PS2 isn't a great DVD player anyway.

It's definitely not coming out this year, I can tell you that much. N-Space can be looked down upon because of their past games, but it should also be noted that licenses are quick and easy money. People buy that stuff regardless of how great it is. I'm under the impression they worked on a lot of that stuff to build up their funding honestly. The shots have never really impressed me... The trailer Nintendo put out at E3 was decent. Promising, but obviously not enough was there. However, I've seen other movies people leaked out of actual gameplay the game looks pretty damn good. I was impressed with a lot of the stuff they managed to pull off. I'm also under the impression that the game was still rather early at E3. It's possible a lot of what they showed was just a placeholder type thing so people knew what to expect.

This shows such a lack of understanding of a lot of things. How much does it require to run a movie? Let's see... there is usually some cost concerning the building's space, the electric, the workers, etc. Then you have to pay for upkeep and many other things included in that. I don't think many people realize how much it costs for a theater to get an actual movie to play. It's a LOT of money, more than any normal person could ever afford. They have to make up for this. While I agree that prices on food and tickets are a bit much now, that doesn't justify this. And that's really all it is. Anyone with a basic idea of right and wrong would realize that they shouldn't be doing this. All I'm seeing that "justifies" it are a bunch of really lame excuses. Someone brought up paying for their one ticket and seeing something else... Well perhaps that could be understandable, but you're seeing one thing in place of another. You're not seeing both together. The original idea here was seeing several movies at once. You could have the foresight to read up on the movie before you see it. If you go in and wind up hating it, that's your problem. The theater doesn't owe you anything. You were the one dumb enough to buy the ticket in the first place.

Apparently PoP has a lot of lame things in it than wind up making it longer. There is supposedly a boss that takes over 30 minutes to beat. Not because he is challenging, since you can beat him without getting hit... but because he seriously has that many hit points. That doesn't sound fun to me lol. Whereas people are comparing BG&E to Zelda-style games... I've not heard one bad thing about it from anyone. Plus there are apparently a few side quests that could lengthen the game if you want to complete them.

Bowie isn't so much 80s as he is 70s... although his superstar reign did extend there. Bowie is obviously still around and still very relevent, unlike most musicians from his background and time.... but he really isn't, and wasn't in the 80s to an extent, the almost godlike presence as he was back in the 70s. There's a lot of awesome stuff from the 80s. Musicwise you have Motley Crue, Def Leppard, The Police, etc. Of course most of it was hair metal bands that no one should ever speak of again... a lot of the good stuff seemed to be just bands that had been living on from previous decades anyway like Led Zeppelin, The Cure, AC/DC, Rush, etc. Anyway, there's more to it than that. Of course the shows and toys and stuff I grew up with... considering I was born in 82.

It's slowly been changing. Anime DVDs are still, on the whole, a somewhat niche market. The only ones that get the full treatment are generally very high profile stuff. Metropolis, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and Grave of the Fireflies all come to mind. The Disney releases of Ghibli stuff too. I wish it would change, but I guess they don't feel the need to do so for some reason... most likely because of what amibasuki said.

There are a few things you could do. If you're seriously waiting weeks for something (or even several days), I think it is safe to say that 1.) the person forgot or 2.) something more important came up. In either case, nothing is going to be done about it, it's forgotten. Complaining about it and expecting mods to get on their case about it seems somewhat excessive to me. In that situation I think the best course of action would be to simply PM these people. You could always learn to make it yourself... Gimp is a free image program that's almost in the same league as Photoshop.

As I just said, it doesn't even have a different game chipset. You're paying for a PS2 with extra features and a new casing. Nothing in terms of the actual games will be affected.

My girlfriend and I were at Target weeks back. Apparently My Little Pony is back out. They had tons of the things. She went nuts over it, so I had to buy it for her. It was rather funny. They had lots of Strawberry Shortcake stuff too. I remember seeing Care Bears for months now, but this was a surprise. I still owe Tori them.

I think this had long since run its course. The original question was asked months ago and most of this has been nothing but nonsense lol. Sorry guys.

I think this is about the time where I should wash my hands of this thread and label it "Heresy and Rumors." The PS3 is NOT done. The PSX is NOT a downgraded PS3. It's a PS2 with added features, an attempt to make a full set-top box in the vein of the HomeStation rumored to be in the works at Microsoft. Perhaps it will give Sony an idea of how far they can go with the PS3 and what they should stick with and what is simply too niche... but it is not finished in any respect. If you know this for a fact, you basically know more than anyone else in the industry. How can something be a watered down PS3 when the basic game chip set isn't even being changed? Writable features and sound receiver options are what makes the difference? Add in the fact that no one even knows what will be in the PS3 at this point and it makes even less sense. If you're going to say such things, personally I'd like to know what these sources are. They sound like they're coming from something like www.spong.com (who by the way posts message board jokes as full on, factual news).

The site doesn't even mention anything of importance to me. PHP? SQL? Anything of relevence other than the space and bandwidth? In any case, threads of this type aren't allowed. If you want people to know how great it is, put it in your sig or something.

Most of the hype seems to be coming directly from Matt at IGNCube. Going around other sites and reading comments from other magazine people I trust (such as those from EGM that visit GAF), my interest has died down slightly. I've watched some videos and it does look cool. If you notice, Matt never seems to comment on the combat. Apparently there is a reason for that, which knocked this down my chart a bit. Right now, I'm looking forward to Beyond Good and Evil and MK:DD as my next two GCN purchases... this is in the wings. Depends on what other magazines give it. All I know is that I'm hearing far more better things about those two games than PoP, and money is too tight for all three.

Sounds cool. I have a similiar story, I suppose. A concert that has yet to be, about a week after yours. A few things make it a big deal... Firstly, I get to see my favorite punk band ever. One of my favorite bands ever. Secondly, they've been broken up for about two years now. They're not getting back together, but apparently they all agreed to do a show for some independent station. Thirdly, I've never seen these guys live before. Nothing ever worked out and due to the fact that no one I knew at the time cared about them, I didn't even find out about the breakup until well after the fact. So I'm ready for the greatest ******* show of my life. They're playing with 4 other local Chicago bands (including the Bollweevils, which is a big deal in and of itself). Only $12. Yay!
Originally posted by Shinmaru What, no mention of the NES? I'm shocked, people. Shocked, horrified, disgusted and tired.
Nintendo isn't a toy. It's a way of life. Yes, I am a loser. I have a fondness for random games back from those days. NES and Atari mostly. Dragonfire and Kaboom! on Atari 2600 rock. Clash at Demonhead, Ducktales, Little Nemo... on and on. Games really aren't the same anymore, at least not as frequently.

Schizophrenia can result from multiple personalities, but it's not the same thing. That said, I can't see the point of this thread. The opening post was pointless and somehow saved (just barely) by definitions. I'd have to say there would be a much better way to go about this sort of discussion, but honestly based on this... I can't see it going anywhere that's worth the time.

I'm assuming you haven't then? Well, it's pretty standard stuff. It's been such a long time since I've played it that I can't give you many great details... but it's below average. I'd only get it if it were either very cheap or you were desperate for an RPG. There are other RPGs that are far better on PS2. Suikoden III is a good example. Even average stuff like Okage and Shadow Hearts beats out this game, in my opinion.

Are you talking about the PS2? I was. Even if you weren't, no Sony product has that sort of warranty. It's NOT a 5 year warranty unless you pay the store you bought it from more money for an extended warranty, and those usually top out at 3 years. Sony only does 3 months and that is a fact. Where do you get your information? I get mine from the booklets packed in with the PS2. I, and millions of other people, bought our DVD players to watch DVDs. I and millions of others bought portable CD players just to listen to CDs. And so on and so on. I guess we're all stupid. When you buy and all-in-one device, something usually suffers. The PS2 is even a good example. Maybe it's just me, but I don't use the PS2 for any of these things. A DVD player? Maybe if I wasn't smart enough to realize that the PS2 DVD player is one of the worst on the market, it adds edge enhancement and actually degrades picture quality. Why? Who knows. There are seriously $50 DVD players on the market now that put out a better picture, some even in progressive scan. It took them all this time to add progressive scan to the PS2. If anyone uses it to play CDs, I'll be surprised. Am I the only one who bought a PS2 to play games? If you can manage to save up $700 for this, be my guest. It's a neat idea and all... but it's not the second coming of anything.
-
Seems like a rather pointless term if it has nothing to do with actual sexuality.
-
All in one units aren't generally popular for a reason. Why? More crap to break. You get a whopping 3 month warranty on a PS2. If it breaks after that, we're talking $60+ to fix something. What are you going to do with a $700 machine when it decides not to read CDs like so many broken PS2s about? I'd rather take up a bit more room than have that, honestly. It seems like something for hipsters who just have to have the latest crap.

Honestly, I don't think Mars Volta can ever top In Casino Out. They certainly haven't so far, in my opinion.

I still have all my toys. They're packed up, but my brothers occasionally play with them. I had probably 50 or so TMNT figures. I had the van, the blimp, the sewer hideout and a few other random vehicles. I loved those things. He-Man... probably more of these guys. I had Castle Grayskull and Skeletor's castle. A giant dinosaur vehicle, both cats and eagles, a walking spider vehicle and some random others. There were a few She-Ra things thrown in there. I had random other stuff... Rambo toys, Legos, GI Joes -- big and small, Micro Machines, Transformers, Star Wars (mostly the old 70s and 80s ones), Go-Bots, Monsters in my Pocket (I actually found some of these up here the other day lol). I also have bags full of Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. I knew a guy who worked for K'Nex as well, so I have like 6 big cases full of those things. My favorite would be between TMNT and He-Man.

That Binary Clock is pretty damn cool. I think I'll add that to my list heh.

I'd normally get an iPod, but at this point I'm not bothering. I've been keeping my eye on the new RCA Lyra, which has a really nice color screen and plays more types of media. I can't seem to find a picture of it for some reason, but it's really nice. That or an Archos MP3 player. They have a line in for recording live... iPods finally have that officially working, but it only uses a monaural microphone that you have to buy through them. No thanks. That and these two offer more for a cheaper price. The only real difference is that Archos players aren't as attractive looking... but honestly, I'm more about function than style. Unfortunately I get mixed reactions about their products... when I hear very little bad about Apple's iPod. If you do get an iPod, I suggest you get a skin for it because they scratch up very easily. Shame to mess up something that expensive. Other than that... I don't know. I need a new PS2 still, as mine is busted. I also need a GBA SP since mine was stolen. That's about it. Maybe some Sour Patch Kids. Edit -- Here is the Lyra. I'm waiting out on that currently. $400 for 20 GBs currently.

I don't know what the interest is in this. You could buy seperate things that do stuff better than this does for around the same price, most likely less. Oh well.
