What is there to explain? In the over a century long history of recorded music, people honestly believe that Linkin Park, a band who has put out two real releases and one remix album (I'm not counting the Hybrid Theory stuff, all bands have demos), can honestly be called one of the Top 22 Bands of All Time? Even if we're just talking the past several decades of rock music (like this is), it's insane. Music is subjective, yes... but something like this doesn't even seem questionable to me. I can't imagine anyone that is remotely well versed in music saying that with a straight face. If one loves the band fine... but that's a really bold thing to say. You're dismissing all of the bands that paved the way for these guys. There are some bands I love to death, but I wouldn't even attempt to put them in this list. It'd be moronic. Of course, it was one of those stupid vote lists... which are mostly comprised of whoever happens to be visting MTV.com or watching TRL at the time. Anyway... lol

Some things are just factual. LP not being one of the Top 22 Greatest Bands of All Time is one of them.

I don't really see what was confusing about it. It's mostly just a zombie film with an actual plot. I thought it was actually pretty good. It didn't seem to go over well in the theater I was in due to all the extremely quiet parts. The only thing I'm not fond of was the fact that the zombies were insanely fast. It wasn't a big deal in the film, but apparently other movies are taking this idea now (such as that Dawn of the Dead "remake"). I guess the slow, practically invulnerable zombie is being replaced. Took awhile, I guess... just something to adjust to.

I only had threecomplaints with the original... The terrible walking speed (holding down the run button basically just made the person walk at a normal pace), the odd controls and the really, really bad translation. I can get over the first two, but I hope this one doesn't have translation problems. Sometimes I didn't even know the game was trying to give me a clue because of the way it was said. That said, it was still an excellent game. Probably the most effective horror game on any console so far. A lot of it was genuinely surprising. I'm looking forward to this.

It depends on a lot of factors. I'm assuming this is another one of those shows where the viewers vote? When MTV2 does that they seem more in line with what would make sense to me... when MTV itself does, it's mostly just flavors of the month interspliced with the most popular band of each era. I never trust any of these lists. Some of them seem to exist with the sole intention of stirring things up or drawing attention somehow. I think it was Blender that had a Top 50 Worst Acts of all time list. Somehow The Doors, Toad the Wet Sprocket and Oingo Boingo were on this list. I can accept the other two, but The ******* Doors?? It boggles my mind. The stuff anyone expect to be on there mostly wasn't. What can you do. As for RHCP, I don't know. Even I don't pay much attention anymore, and I've been a fan since I was rather young. For whatever reason interest dwindled after Blood Sugar Sex Magick (which admittedly is amazingly good)... even though I felt One Hot Minute was very solid. Then they broke up, got back together... I just never got back into it all. They recently put out that one CD whose name I can't remember, so they must be on the minds of a good deal of people... I mean they were named at all, which is slightly surprising. I don't know how LP could be on there at all though. There have been groups doing that same thing for years (some better) and none have gotten this level of excitement around them. I really would have to say it's all due to the marketing. I still think Nirvana is incredibly overrated, but that's another story.

This is a place where people need to READ what you say. When I have to sit and make out horrible acronyms, I'm not going to want to read your posts. It also makes you look lazy and unintelligent. If you can't bother to add the two extra letters to "u" to make it say "you", then why should anyone bother to listen to you? In any case, this isn't every other forum. If you feel that way, then go to those forums. Personally, I don't want anything to do with them.
Originally posted by Charles Skies of Arcadia definitely has a home in my favorite RPG list. It's much better than crap like Earthbound! lol
Since we both know you have no experience with that game, I'll leave that comment alone lol. But considering the types of RPGs you seem to be into, I think you'd enjoy it. Great game.
Originally posted by Charles Other than that, I enjoyed Knights of the Old Republic, the Suikoden series, and some of the Final Fantasy games. The orginal Wild Arms also brings back wonderful memories.
I don't know if you were aware of this, but they're actually remaking the original Wild Arms on PS2. I think it's called Wild Arms Code F or something like that. It's looking pretty good.
Originally posted by Ben Holiday My second choice would be Skies Of Arcadia it was a true change of pace from the the rpg's I had played at the time and though it had an overbundance of random battles it had a great storyline and fun characters to add to your party. It's only bad point was it was released on the DC so many people never got the chance to play it or even hear of it but there is some hope since it was re-released on the NGC that some more people actually get to play it but I truly wish they would have released it on more systems.
Listen to him. Seriously one of the best RPGs I've ever played. It's such a change of pace in terms of character development from what RPGs tend to go for these days. It has an innocence about it, despite getting rather dark quite often. The DC version is pretty moot at this point, but if you have a GC go get Skies of Arcadia Legends now (it's like $10 on Best Buy's site last I saw). Just a really awesome game that adds upon the original and improves a lot of the problems. The sequences leading up to the ending are just some amazing stuff.

Being in a dictionary doesn't amount to much. They still publish nonstandard words. Which is why you'll find stuff like "alright" in there. As with most things it just comes down to levels of importance. Does this actually matter? Are you actually going to sit there and get offended every time this happens? Are you going to lead some crusade to stop people from using words that everyone and their mother uses in frustration or anger at some point in their lifetimes? I fear for you once you get out in the real world, because you've seen nothing yet by comparison. There is a difference between just saying these words and applying them to threats.

I don't know how anyone could get the entire plot from the Reloaded previews... unless you think "plot" just means showing who fights who and random vague comments lol. There was a lot more to it than that. I do agree that they show too much though. However, it's kind of always been like that based on my experience. Some trailers do it right, some don't... same as always. I think the LotR trailer are successful because they show enough to get you interested, but ruin very little. I've been going to the movies rather often lately and previews never really annoy me. I rarely see the same previews at each screening... and after awhile the trailers are changed as well. The Haunted Mansion is a good example. I've seen two different trailers for that now (although it still looks terrible, mostly because of Eddie Murphy -- he almost always plays the same character ever since Beverly Hills Cop). The commercials are annoying though. You usually see the exact same ones all the time. I saw those M&M ones a million times, the Fandango ones... it never ends.

Well I can do pretty much as I please. I'm 21 heh.

You can legally smoke, you can be drafted, you can vote, you can be tried as an adult. Personally, I don't see the major benefits of any of these, although I'm not big on polotics. Things don't just radically change, it's just another year really. You can't even buy porn in Chicago until you're 21, so there's no fun in that yet either.

They swear so much that they didn't get around to telling you how to spell "teacher" correctly, I guess. As pessimistic as this sounds... get used to it. It only gets bigger in high school and really caps off in college. A good deal of my college teachers don't watch their language, they don't dumb things down... they talk to you how they'd probably talk to their friends. I don't see the big deal in those years, but I do agree in a younger environment it is not beneficial. It makes the teacher seem like an enemy and doesn't portray them as the role models they should be.

I don't understand what you mean by some of your last comments. Another team? Are you referring to Enix? Enix and Square have yet to work together on a game at all. They're still very different and seperate developmental entities. Enix itself develops very little inhouse, most of it is outsourced. So if you mean that Enix somehow had some influence on FFX-2, I don't know how you came to that conclusion. Enix has yet to make any game like that as it is, and they have many games in the past that have female leads. Otherwise, I have no idea what you are trying to say. It all seems very confusingly written lol

I'm the one that original sent Juu those songs... I was honestly surprised she liked them. The more people the better, I guess heh.
-
There is no problem with lead female characters. Many games have done this in the past. The problem is that they are putting them into skin tight bikinis, forcing them to sing pop songs and other such nonsense. Isn't that the definition of fan service, basically?

All right. I didn't really want to see this movie, which should be apparent by my posts about it in the past. I wanted to see Kill Bill and my girlfriend (oh, let's call her "Jessica") wanted to see TCM. So we had to compromise. The compromise obviously involved us having to see this tonight, but Kill Bill is next on the list. Even coming into this, I just never understood why they needed to remake this movie. After watching it, I really still don't. I did give it a fair chance, but it failed to grab me. Jessica, however, thought it was very good. She was scared quite often... so if you have some easily-scared girlfriend and you like to be grabbed a lot, bring her with. There's a lot of things-jumping-out-of-nowhere moments. Personally, I didn't find much of it rather scary in any sense. Like I said, I just don't get the point of this movie. I seem to be one of the few defenders of the original film. "It's cheesy" people say. "The dialogue sucked" and so on. Maybe I'm one of the few people who remembers that the original came out in 1974 and had next to no budget... but it makes it very hard for me to compare the two. The original is a "classic" in a sense, but I'm going to say right out that it's still nowhere as good as many people want you to believe. The remake is probably better as a real, watchable film. I'd watch that over the original at this point... it's just that since I am familiar with the original, the sequels and so on... this film just doesn't appeal to me anymore. The only thing I really prefer in the original is the cheap, snuff-like quality of the recording... something I'd assume was because of budget concerns, but it added to the atmosphere. The remake obviously has superior camera work, lighting and effects in general. The acting is far better as well... what there is of it anyway. I found myself not really caring about any of the characters. I'm not asking for extensive histories, but they didn't even pull on any of my basic emotions. The only part that worked for me is when
Kemp's dead body dropped the ring for Erin, which still wasn't much.
Because of this I really felt bored for a good deal of the movie. I didn't care when anyone died. You knew even less about the crazy family. Some of the characters were in there for seemingly no reason. I still have no clue what the purpose of the two trailer women was. How were they even relevant? Sure, they advanced the plot in some way, but it just seemed so useless. There were several of these plot issues in the movie, but they're not that important. They just seemed to be stuffed in to make the movie more "bizarre" for the general audience. The actual deaths just left a lot to be desired as well. Of course, they need to keep a lot of this similiar to the original. The trademark scene from the original is in here... but there is only so much of a guy running at people with a chainsaw I can take before it just becomes a tired idea, same with the original. The gore itself was very well done, I have no complaints with that. The acting worked well enough that their pain and such was believable. I don't know. I respect the original, but I'm not a huge fan... but I'd put them on pretty much the same level. The only reason I have a slightly higher opinion of the first is mostly due to its importance in the genre. Another horror film remade for a generation of people who can't sit and watch something for what it is (I don't know how else to explain the remakes of Ghost Ship, etc). Any atmosphere and creepiness mostly came off as them trying too hard. I saw House of 1,000 Corpses when it first came out, and for all intents and purposes, it was mostly inspired by the original TCM. There is stuff in that movie that feels almost directly out of TCM and even the remake... However, it added a humor side. It added some new, weird ideas. It was far more relentless and the deaths were surprising and interesting. While it perhaps took a bit too much from older horror films, it still had its own spirit. The characters were rather one dimensional, but for me they at least appealed to basic emotions (however cliche their attitudes were). For me, this movie just felt more like everything else out there. I felt like I'd seen it a million times before, because really, I have. So has anyone else that watches a decent amount of these films. After watching it, I still have the same question I had when I first heard of it. Why? The ending also left a lot to be desired, in my opinion. Anyway, I apologize for this being all over the place, but it is almost 2 AM and I'm rather tired. in short, I'm not overly fond of either film. I respect the impact of the original, but I am never in a hurry to watch it. This movie did a good job of updating the original, but just like the original, it didn't really work for me. I'm still not very interested in either of them. I doubt many will agree with me though.

My opinion of Rob Zombie has diminished over the years. I liked White Zombie quite a bit and I enjoyed Rob Zombie's first release. It's a fun album to listen to, although I don't play it a lot. But after that there was a remix-ish album... and now a greatest hits album. What the hell? Just put out some new material. Two new songs doesn't cut it... although I guess the soundtrack to House of 1,000 Corpses suffices.

We're talking copyrighted information here. TV shows, movies... it's all protected by some large corporation and could potentially get you into a lot of trouble... OB doesn't want to take part in this. There used to be a LOT of sites that linked and tracked files called "torrents". Many have been shut down in recent months. I remember quite a few being targetted specfically because they had links to download Matrix: Reloaded via the torrent system -- back when it first hit theaters. Fansubbed anime and such isn't subject to the same rules because there are no US companies that have any sort of sanction over them. That's why those sites usually stick around. Same with torrents that allow you to download other foreign things such as music. Unless there is some odd reason why a company would specifically put up streams of their own shows or movies, there isn't anything to talk about in this thread. You're asking for pirated items in 98% of these cases. In any case, like I said... this isn't allowed here, it isn't really legal (except in rather specific cases) and this is closed.

Powerman 5000 was pretty decent. Unfortunately their quality has slipped over the years. I don't really pay much attention to them anymore.

I found most of this on GA. Colloseum is the latest Pokemon Stadium game, obviously on GameCube. This has been known for quite some time. However, the game also has a RPG mode in it... apparently that mode is around 30 hours long. Personally, I think it looks pretty cool. I actually would like to pick this up if the RPG mode turns out. It also looks as though this game is what you need to get the massive amount of hidden Pokemon in Ruby and Sapphire that just aren't there in the normal game. Scans (totally worth seeing, but linked since they're huge). Okay... I really liked how the bad opinions of the movie were totally backed up. Blah. Anyway, I thought it was very good. Unless you just don't like action comedies, there is nothing wrong with this movie. The story was sufficient and the fights were excellent. Never in that movie did a fight have a section where you could tell without a doubt that someone wasn't actually hitting someone else. It looked like things actually hurt. I thought the Rock did a very good job in it. The scene in the opening where Arnold makes a comment to the Rock is very fitting, and obviously a sign of what is expected of him. He probably will be the next Arnold... the big difference being that he's actually easy to understand.

While they are somewhat of a one hit wonder in the radio sense, they've been putting out stuff for several years now. They haven't really just come out of nowhere, did one lackluster album and disappeared forever like most other one hit wonder bands. That said, I think even Fountains of Wayne fans agree that Stacy's Mom is an overall crappy song.

Depends on which you're referring to. The original is a decent anime film, but it's also very antiquated. There isn't much more to it than "Those things are moving so I have to kill them." Because of that it is enjoyable. The dub is rather average at best and the animation is dated, but still decent. Bloodlust on the other hand is incredible. I can't think of anything to dislike about that movie. Even my girlfriend, who makes fun of me for most of my anime interests, enjoyed the movie... that's saying a lot. It was originally made in English, so there's no worries over dubs or anything else. While not amazingly good, the voice acting is more than sufficient. Animation is amazing, good characters, decent amount of bad guys (they are all a bit more developed than in the original, which is nice)... just an all around great movie. Pick that up, get the first only if you're really into Bloodlust... I'd say.
