I've never understood why RE games never even gave you the option. How hard would it be for them to do this? SH3 gave you a choice between normal 3D controls and RE-style. Like I said, RE4 supposedly will address this. I hope so, because even though I've grown used to RE's setup, I wouldn't mind a change. Playing ED is a hell of a lot more enjoyable even in the most basic ways because of its easier control scheme. I still thought RE on GCN was awesome though.

I'm not really excited about this movie even now. Anyone whose opinion I trust on horror films has yet to get excited since seeing it... and those who have, I don't know if I'd agree with them or not. The movie is directed by a guy who previously did nothing but music videos... The characters are supposedly uninteresting and the story behind the crazy family even more vague. I don't know, I'm thinking I'll just wait for the DVD and rent it.

As I've said before, none of you are taking into consideration her other screen name whatsoever. I had so many people complain about her to me alone, upon which I usually told them to relax and not take things so personally... but whatever. I'm sure those aren't her only posts taken into consideration and it's not simply because of "verbal abuse". I've never had a problem with her. She's always been genuinely nice to me and I enjoy talking to her when she's around. In any case, I'm getting the picture that some of you care more about her ban than she even does.

I've never met a person who gushed over the controls in RE, so that's a rather null point. In a game where the camera angles are static and change constantly, do you honestly want the controls to be like Super Mario 64 and change constantly based on camera placements? I sure wouldn't. You'd have to adjust your directions on every new screen. The games were good in the first place, it's just that they never really evolved much. RE4 looks like it will fix a lot of these problems, to me. Controls are supposedly being adjusted and since it's 3D, you won't have as much of that static problem. I still think Majora is the best 3D Zelda. I wouldn't call it overrated, mostly because a vast majority of the people I know think it's pretty crappy... while a handful of others seem to think it's the best one yet.

A few things here. I like Magdalena. I've talked to her several times on AIM and I've found her to be a really nice person. She just seems to like to be somewhat aggressive on message boards concerning things she personally finds "stupid". This is why she seems to go after certain members more than others. I and many other members here do the same, honestly. Now personally, I do agree that Syk3 got rather defensive over something that really wasn't a huge deal. I've seen other people say similiar things concerning this before, so I didn't see what was so terrible. Any problem was made even worse due to the senseless bickering. The whole OtakuForums thing was rather lame, but that's another place. We're not responsible for it and whatever they do, they do. She started the thread, but it didn't seem like she was egging them on anymore after that... the subsequent posts were all other people coming up with their own complaints. Still, I do feel the thread itself was rather lame, but what more is there to say about it? People also seem to forget that Magdelena had another account here for that. A lot of people thought she was problematic then, but she was never banned. She came back under another name. Most in charge of this place knows this too, I don't know about most other members here (I'd assume not considering comments in the picture threads, although I know Harry knows). As such you have to take both into mind when making these decisions. While I personally liked her, as I said before, if Charles or James feels someone should go... that's just how it is. They apparently felt that she was having a negative impact on the boards, and that alone is enough reason for them to remove her. This isn't a democracy (I learned this at GAF -- now that was a wrongful ban).
Originally posted by Epid3mic Arghhh, I'm such a hypocrite, all the artists I despise, always have one song I like. "Carousel" by Blink 182, "With You" by Avril Lavigne, "This is the New ****" by Marylyn Manson.
How you can like a song as average and repetitive as This Is the New **** by Manson and nothing else, I have no idea. Sounds like you're missing out to me... I love Manson and don't even like half the singles.

Mars Volta is nothing special to me. At the Drive-In was so much better and it just feels like they're living off the remnants of that band (member-wise, they are). They only have one album, so I can't exactly consider them the best anything at this point.
-
I think you're missing the point. The point is to name of some bands that you normally don't think you'd like, but for whatever reason appeal to you. I'd normally not think I'd like any BSB songs, because I just am not into that stuff at all... but I like the Call. That doesn't mean I can't respect that they do what they do well (assuming the band I'm referring to at the time is even any good). I'll listen to whatever I feel is good at the time, but there are still songs that are "guilty pleasures" so to speak. There's no reason to break it down into some sort of debate like that... it has little to do with my original post. It's just for fun. People think too hard.

You know what's embarrassing? The fact that this has more posts than any other music thread I've ever made. Well not embarrassing as much as it is slightly disappointing lol

Posts in the Your Picture and Banner Request forums don't count towards your post count.

You can call back there, but I'll tell you right now that they'll never be of much hope because you bought a model of the GCN that Nintendo of America never even released. Hell, Nintendo itself isn't even responsible for the thing -- Panasonic is -- so I'm not that surprised that they don't have a lot of information on it to help you with.

No work will even be able to be started on v7 until vB 3 is out. That supposedly is soon, and once that happens you still have to give some time for things to be done and readjusted.

I don't read much manga anymore, it's all Western comics for me now. The terribly dull Ghost in the Shell 2 manga series was the breaking point for me. I see little reason to go back. That said... Ranma 1/2 - I really love this series. I love the anime as well. It's surprising how much they're like eachother. It's almost dead on. Fun comedy and characters... although I suppose it can get repetitive on some level, I've never had a problem. Lone Wolf and Cub - Excellent stuff. Probably my favorite. Good art, good story, tons of action. Comes in these really small, thick paperbacks... I thought they were neat. Appleseed - I own all four books as well as the databook. This is what solidified my interest in manga way, way back. It also made Masamune Shirow the one manga artist I'd always watch out for. Far better than the terrible anime. Ghost in the Shell - I loved the original series. The paintings and such in it are simply gorgeous. The story is complex and just well done. The anime is decent, but doesn't compare. GiTS2, on the other hand, was a massive disappointment. Lots of beautiful art and the most boring stuff I've ever read. There's random others, but that's the main stuff.

If you're referring to pictures of yourself, then you could just ask this in your own thread in some fashion. There's no point in this thread being here.
Possum Kingdom Make up your mind Decide to walk with me Around the lake tonight Around the lake tonight By my side, By my side I'm not gonna lie I'll not be a gentleman Behind the boathouse I'll show you my dark secret I'm not gonna lie I want you for mine My blushing bride My lover, be my lover, yeah... Don't be afraid I didn't mean to scare you So help me, Jesus I can promise you You'll stay as beautiful With dark hair And soft skin...forever Forever Make up your mind Make up your mind And I'll promise you I will treat you well My sweet angel So help me, Jesus Give it up to me Give it up to me Do you wanna be My angel? So help me! Be my angel, Be my angel Do you wanna die? I promise you I will treat you well My sweet angel So help me, Jesus Jesus...
As cool as Possum Kingdom is, I just think Tyler is much better song. Neither are terribly complex on any level, but they do what they do well. I can't find any real faults with them. Possum Kingdom is one of the first music videos I can remember seeing (well, the most vividly remembered anyway... along with some Genesis song). Tyler just appeals to me on a far greater level in general. The way it starts off and then goes through a instrumental period before getting to more lyrics works really well. Great song.
Tyler And she runs through her days with a smile on her face And she runs, and she waits, and I wait We can drive to anyplace, day or night, across the state And in the morning, into Mexico, we will wake up I find a window in the kitchen, and I let myself in Rummage through the refrigerator, find myself a beer I can't believe I'm really here, and she's lying in that bed I can almost feel her touch, and her anxious breath! I stumble in the hallway, against the bedroom door I hear her call out to me, I hear the fear in her voice She pulls the covers tighter, I press against the door I will be with her tonight!
All of Rubberneck rocks though, so you might want to pick it up if you can.

I live in Chicago... Winter isn't a nice, cool time of the year. It's a snowy, bitterly cold, incredibly windy wasteland. That said, I still prefer it to summer. I really dislike summer on every level. It's too hot out, it's too sunny, the humidity is disgusting. I prefer cool, rainy weather. So Fall and Spring are best. Fall is better because of the temperatures, but I hate having the rake all the damn leaves...

Awesome. This sounds rather successful, so I'm happy heh. Thanks guys. And Ryan is back... about time lol

I don't know how many people will be familiar with this band, especially since their heyday was in 1995 lol. I don't have tons of knowledge on their history, so I can't pass much on. I'll try. The Toadies are basically a straight forward rock band. They were known years back for their song Possum Kingdom, which became a rather big hit. I believe a lot of reviewers at the time found them to basically be too much like their influences. You'll probably be able to pick a lot of them out, but I think they transcend a lot of that due to their writing style. There are few bands that I feel are as cynical as the Toadies. Possum Kingdom probably doesn't sound like all that bad of a song if you just listen to it... It sounds like he deeply cares about this girl, although you can sense an anger in his voice. But if you know the lyrics, it's obviously very morbid and deals with a murder at a lake of the same name. The same goes for Tyler, which sounds almost like a nice love song if you're not paying attention, almost like he just longs for her. From what I can tell it's about the rape and kidnapping of a girl. This is what I love about them. Their songs are so deceptive. Both of those were off of Rubberbeck, their first LP... it followed Pleather, which was an EP. The band wound up going their seperate ways for several years, but got back together in 2001. They released Hell Below, Stars Above sometime that year. Pretty solid album, I think. They wound up breaking up for good thanks mostly to their label, Interscope... who did almost nothing to promote the new release. In 2002 a live album was released, and that was that. Anyway, anyone else remember or care for them?

The best thing about that channel is the old commercials. I'd seriously just watch an entire show dedicated to them. I remember this one for canned pineapples. Some nerdy guy was trying to eat them... and for some reason these two really large women were dancing in the background.
-
Thanks terra. I'll adjust it some more and see how that turns out. There's just too much black in the background that seems to offset the text. If I darken it enough, I could probably just use another text color. For those interested, I attached the original image. Edit -- I darkened that area and made the text white. I changed the links to a pink color to match the background. I also fixed some of the coding because link colors weren't showing up properly on the PHP pages.

http://www.slownerveaction.org/fanlistings/vj/ Here's my newest for Viewtiful Joe. Mostly lots of editing of existing images. I think I have to darken behind the text. It's a bit too busy to be easily read.\ Edit -- Darkened up some.

Sometimes I think it would be cool if there were actually weird creatures like in comics and books, but it's not something that I think about any more than just in passing.
-
I've not seen something from you in quite some time. I hope this is a more regular thing now heh. I think it's looking pretty good so far. My only complaint is that the text is a bit too hard to read. Maybe thickening up the lines on it would help.

I'm not a big fan of baseball, but seeing as though I'm in Chicago... the whole Cubs thing is unavoidable. I put on Fox to watch the Simpsons and get games instead and I don't bother to change it. So I've watched a couple of Cubs games. Last night ended really, really badly heh. That guy who interfered with the catch is actually in hiding here right now. He's incredibly unpopular here, but what can you do. I think the main problem was that they just left Prior in for far too long. They set themselves up for all that happened. Hopefully they'll win tonight. Wood can take care of it all, I'm sure.
