Fatal Fury was my fave fighting anime. It beats the hell out of Toshinden and Gowcaizer anyway. The hunt for the armor of mars was cool. It has that "Mac Guyver" treasure hunting episode feeling. The fight scenes were not half bad. The best thing about the movie ----> Mai and the shower *dodges thrown tomatoes from female readers*

I really don't know the people that dubbed this but they deserve my praises(at least) for their outstanding work 1. Evangelion 2. Goldenboy 3. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust 4. Ranma 1/2 ---> even though I hated the replacement voice actor of Ranma guy

Anime Which anime would look best as a live action movie?
Def_Kun replied to Juu's topic in Otaku Central
OOOhhhh Fatal Fury.... I'm not so sure how this one would turn out. It might end up like that Street Fighter: The Movie crap starring Van Damme. I wouldn't like this one to risk suffering the same fate. Let me guess.... Leonardo di Caprio is playing Terry Bogard? -
I thought the story was dragging. It was too technical for me. Borrowed it twice from a friend and slept through it on both occassions. When I was a kid I always had the VHS remote with me. Everytime there's a nude scene or a panty shot I would get ready to turn it off in case my mom passes by. It was really hard to watch Ranma without feeling the sense of danger everytime Ram-chan enters the showers.

Actually it's not so useless at all... But If you do have some good anime trivias out there that you'd like to share, post it here (in case you don't have anything better to do). :D K I'll start.... Did you know that Megumi Hayashibara would be celebrating her 35th birthday on March 30 (yehey 9 months to go!!!). Some roles undertaken by this famous seyuu are... Rei Ayanami (Evangelion) Tira Mis (Bakuretsu Hunters) Lina Inverse (Slayers) Pai (3x3 eyes) and Faye Valentine (Cowboy Bebop)
Originally posted by PrettygurlRei Hey all I know is what my friend rick told me, he has seen all of them! A wind named amnesia was about humans (duh) and this alien race threw a blast of wind to earth making all humans return to there caveman years (smartness I mean) Well the main char finds a boy and the boy helps him go from preschool brain to a 6th grade brain. The boy died and the main went off to look for more people that haven't lost there memory. Later he fiends a woman with long blue hair. They become friends. Near the end of the movie. Then she reveals to him that she is one of those aliens. And finally they SCREW! Well, if those were to serious, you should go back to watching DB or Salior moon. P.s kick a** quote!
Yeah. I'm a little bit picky with the shows I watch. But for me to go back to DB or Sailor moon would be too harsh! There are some serious themed anime's that I liked like Ninja Scroll (Oh wait! This one isn't serious at all). Yeah! They did screw. But I think they edited most of it. Like my quote? Excel Saga is a haven for funny anime quotes.

Here's a good one... 64. The first thing you do when opening your web browser is to visit Otakuboards! (YEHEY!!!)

I forgot what Wind Named Amnesia was all about? I think there was this little kinky scene at the end of the movie but I couldn't remember the rest (guess that would be the most memorable scene of the movie hehehehehehe). It was too serious for me that I was pushing the FF button through most of the movie. I'd place it along with Patlabor and Ghost in the Shell category. I know they're good but I really don't have the will power to watch them completely. If you thougt Crying Freeman was porn that just barely scratched the surface of hentaism.

K I don't want this thread to die so I'll post a little more... 1. Chobits (My replacement for Fruits Basket) 2. Read or Die (Da Paper, Mees Deep, Mistah Gentelman) 3. Sakura Wars (Maria's the no. 1 anime babe of all time!!!) 4. Puni Puni Poemi - this really shocked me since I don't really see much of japanese parodies.

Really haven't noticed the fat eyebrows (that's why the art seemed a little different). I don't know about the manga but in the series he was portrayed as a somewhat rural folk who was a little obsessed with viewing Internet porn sites. His little perversions really made him that funnier. Yes, it seems CLAMP has somewhat gone towards technology rather than magic in both Angelic Layer and Chobits. Robots, machines, science, it really has a different feel from X or CCS. I really have to admit that I'm not familiar with Angelic Layer (just saw 2 episodes). These days we are watching Fruits Basket and Child's Toy and now comes Chobit so we don't have that much time to watch Angelic Layer. Shimbo's the guy with the small, pink persocon right? I felt sorry for him when the persocon got broken while trying to access Chii's systems. What a waste.

I envy people like you. It's hard to get any form of manga here in our country. What makes it worse is that 100% of my CLAMP fanatic friends think that the manga versions of any CLAMP series was much better than the anime version. Hideki is more like Kintaro(Goldenboy): the more you get to know him, the more you like him. Hideki's character doesn't have that bishounen appeal that Rantis, Kamui or Yukto has. What he lacks in face value he makes up with his attitude. It's kinda cute how Chii copies every single movement of everyone around her.

What? Chobits? Another one of those cute pokemon games? Then I saw one word that made me give it a chance -----> CLAMP I know... I know... another CLAMP anime title. But from here we can expect... 1. Cute Girls ----> (lots of 'em) check 2. Cute Guys -----> none (whoah!) 3. LOVE ----> It's CLAMP 4. Angel and Devil Wings ----> none (whoah!) 5. Sorcery and Magic ----> more on technology 6. A little dash of homosexuality ----> we'll see... Actually this seemed like something different from other Clamp related series. It's a love story about the relationship between a persocon (robot in the form of a human) and her owner. Of course I wouldn't patronize love stories if there was no ----> humor. The first two episodes really made me laugh so this has replaced "Fruits Basket" on series to be borrowed list. Probably most men wouldn't like this type of anime(not much action) but if your looking for a promising new title this is my bet. So now I'm looking for info about this anime: number of episodes, licensing, possible OVAs, anything is welcomed. Thanx a lot.

Haven't seen Hack Sign but I have seen Hellsing. I'm still thinking if I should continue it. I'm really not that interested in gunfights type of anime (Cowboy Bebop, Trigun) except for Gunsmith Cats so I really don't know if it's worth it. Probably give it another chance in the future. Right now I'm exploring other options Chobits, Bastard, Gravitation).

I've seen X TV ending. The last few episodes were great but the final one was just okay. Compared to the last few it was sub par but it was still good nonetheless. I'm not a die hard Tenchi Muyo fan but I still wonder why Ryoko was paired up with Tenchi. I really thought Ayeka was the right girl for her.

Darn!!! another one... Sorry my mind is a little scrambled at the moment. It was Arima. Akito was the one in Fruits Basket. Lets see... Asuka (Evangelion) and Mitsuki (Dual) - "strong" girl individual pilots of "eva" looking mechs Rei Ayanami (Evangelion) and D (Dual) - softspoken pilots of "eva" looking mechs Come to think of it Dual and Evangelion have a lot in common. Three pilots.... three mechs... three lead characters. You gotta see both of this animes.

Whoops I meant the fansub version. Sorry for not noticing it. After Tohru kun started living in with the other Sohma family members she started to develop a close relationship with them. This started to irritate Akito (Sohma family leader and main bad guy of the series) since he thought that Tohru didn't belong with the Sohma family. This reverts back to the day when Tohru kun played fruits basket with her younger friends. Up until now she has always been the one left out, the outsider, the riceball of the whole Sohma family situation.
-
There are sooo many... Yuu (Marmalade boy) and Akito (Kare Kano) - both are perfect male students (good at everything). Alucard (Hellsing) and D (Vampire Hunter D) - Vampires that hunt their own kind Naru (Love Hina) and Akane (Ranma) - jealous females because they're afraid to speak out their own feelings Shingi (Evangelion) and Kazuki... I think (Dual) - pilot "evangelion" looking mecha robots, subtle, soft spoken
-
I just saw the dubbed version. It's like Ranma on drugs... Okay maybe not. But it's somewhat similar to Ranma with all that transformation stuff and wacky humor. It's more comedy than romance and I would recommend it to everyone who wants something light and funny. Kyo was my personal favorite among the Sohma familay and Ayame was next. I think it was Yuki Sohma who was popular and not Kyo.

Anime Which anime do you think has stood the test of time?
Def_Kun replied to Ben Holiday's topic in Otaku Central
Gundam I think has the longest lineage but Macross would still be my choice. Next.... Voltes V heheheehhehe -
Rurouni Kenshin Martian Successor Nadesico GoldenBoy Slayers and.... Evangelion
-
I haven't gotten my hands on manga that often but the Rurouni Kenshin manga was much better than the series. Some others told me that X was the king of mangas but I haven't seen it yet.
-
A good laugh would be the best characteristic of an anime for me. Most of my favorite anime series were the ones that really made me laugh hard like Goldenboy or Excel Saga or Fruits Basket (this is more comedy than drama IMHO) or Slayers or Jubei Chan or Rurouni Kenshin.... or.... Adding some well drawn fight scenes are just additional toppings.

I once thought Petshop of Horrors was the japanese anime adaptation of Little Petshop of Horrors waaay back then. But I thought it was kinda good. The "Tears in Heaven" song of the mermaid in episode two really got stuck on me for quite a while.

I just have some (Fruits Basket and RK) VCD of selected anime series (the ones that I really love I treasure for eternity)... that's all. Oh yeah, a friend of mine gave away his partially damaged DBZ Freeza manga to me as a Christmas present (lucky!!!!). Planning to get the series of X or Initial D later on....

ABOUT ADULT ANIME ADULT ANIME.... Where!? Just joking. But I have seen a few of them and I have to admit some are quite good in both storyline and characters (Sex is not everything!!!). Now about adult anime... most have been brainless violence but a few really did catch my eyes like 3X3 eyes and Vampire Hunter D. ABOUT BLAMING GAMES AND ANIME INDUSTRY Ahhh but let's admit it... sometimes, especially in this modern day era, "our" parents have little or no more time to give proper supervision to what children are watching. I think what the government is trying to do is to take this responsibility on their own shoulders to protect the youth form these forms of media. And since being guardians to every unguided youth would be difficult, the logical and cost-efficient method to deal with this is to start blaming the industry and to start censoring violence or sex in shows. (well that's what's happening over here in our country anyway!) The question now is "Could you really blame them for their actions?". Just taking the other side of the argument...
