1.
You lie! I'm a natural blonde -- a really light to barely mid blonde. And whenever I dye my hair -- even just as a rinse -- people basically attack me for 'ruining such a gorgeous colour!' One of my oldest friends told me when I dyed my hair that she wouldn't speak to me again until it was back to normal, lol. Generally, I just dye it red, because I love having copper-y hair, and with the pale complexion etc. it looks almost natural and really suits me, haha. ^ Me with normal hair
*tackles* I LOVE YOUR HAIR! *has weakness for light blonde haired girls* x.x; I'm debating between whether to go pink or brunette next. I'm a bit sick of brown, but the more I stare at other brunettes around me, the more I want to go back. But then, I really want to do pink as well. Just that I'm worried it'll come out a tad too bright. Right now I'm looking at Atomic Pink and Cupcake Pink by Special Effects. It's supposed to last really long, but that's why I'm concerned. According to a ton of customer reviews, once you do this pink, it'll be long before you can change it. ^ That is the colour it's supposed to turn out. I think I'll go for it, but I'll have to wait about two weeks. And I think I'll actually do the entire head this time. Which means I'll need two bleach kits and two bottles of colour. But if there's any left over, I can give my friend highlights, soo... *excited*
  2. Yeah, leave it to me to start this oddball. _._; ANYWAY. Really, what will you be missed a bit too much for? What's so special about you that you just. can't. diiiie? Not ALMOST burn like Juu does. - Emo needs to be bashed a bit more. - I'm the only person who can find anything in my room. Everything would be lost forever if I disappeared from this planet. As for any will in the future, I'm just dividng up my room into tenths and people get to bring their own shovels. - The world still needs more bad singers/guitarists to pretend their band rocks.
If you're planning on singing, please disregard this post entirely, Juu.
I assumed he was just taking the piss. ...And I hope he is for his sake. o_O
I notice that no-one has mentioned any type of antiseptic spray. You can get them at any Rite-Aid-type store. They come in a variety of flavors, and application is very simple. Just shake, aim the nozzle to your open mouth, and spray. Whenever I've had sore throats for whatever reason, that seems to help. Plus, it may assist in killing whatever bacteria is causing the strepp. It's a bit of an anesthetic, too, so singing would probably feel much better. Your throat might feel a bit weird, but you sing from the diaphragm, anyway. ^_^

Yeah, what you're talking about basically serves the same purpose as a cough drop. I suppose it's effectiveness varies from person to person. It might be more comfortable. The important thing Alex mentioned here was the antibiotic qualities of the spray. While a topical antiseptic spray such as this might reduce inflammation it probably won't be able to kill your strep as quickly as an oral antibiotic like minocyclin or keflex ( to name a few). I'd suggest visiting your doctor the next time you have strep (or if you still have the symptoms now) and get a throat culture. If it's bacterial, you could wipe the thing out pretty quickly. If it is a viral infection... antibiotic spray isn't going to help that much.
I've tried antibiotic spray before, and that hasn't worked for me. As for the doctor, that'll make seven trips to the doctor in three months. -.-; Five of them didn't give me anything, and the most recent visit recommended me some over the counter medicine that just treated migraine. [I had step throat then as well.] Throat culture... I'll have my dad check that out. Thanks for all the help. ^^
I got a sore throat just last week, and it kept me from going skiing. >_> But anyway, my mom gave me tea with honey and lemon. And I see that didn't work for you. Taking Vitamin C/Zinc pills helps your immune system boost itself (I think), so those would be good ideas. Nasal spray and decongestant clears my nose, and there's always that godawful junk called ... codliver oil. I seriously hope you don't do that ... it smells terrible, but it seemed to work for my friend. But a stuff nose isn't the worst of your problems, and can be solved easily. Just run around, and breathe out of your nose ... it'll clear up. But then again, you'd have to look out for aggrivating your throat with all that breathing from running around. So do it in a warm room. ^_^ And really, sleep will help. Cough drops too. But sleep is the best. Throw your homework to the wind! Get those 8 to 10 hours of sleep a night. It'll cure you.
Gah! Sorry about that. But what a coincidence, I couldn't go skiing last week thanks to my sore throat as well. >.> I haven't heard of codliver oil, but just by the sound of it... vinegar seems the easier way out. .__.; And you're right - for some reason, my nose/throat feel a lot better when I'm outside. My dad was in the middle of surgery, so I had to walk home today. The whole time I just kept thinking about vacuuming my room because my throat would just die on me once I got into the house. Hmm. *hugs everyone* These are muchly appreciated. x.x
  4. I want to go bright pink, but eh. Since my hair's naturally dark, it'll fry my hair to get it white-ish enough to get the shade of pink I want. Otherwise it'll just look red. Maybe next year. I have to re-do it blue this mid-April, though. For anyone about to colour their hair:DON'T USE THE LOREAL BRAND. Hoi, it was terrible. For my blue, I used Splat, but that took ages for the water to run clear. My fingertips were blue for a good four days whilst washing it out even though I was wearing gloves. But eh, I'm on a budget after wasting so much earlier. Our bassist has really cool hair, though. =D [He doesn't mind.] Before. After. Now it's pink. Looks really cool. Flamey and fwar. I don't remember what his natural colour was. o_O; Blondes are so lucky. ._.
  5.
i guess the wierdist color i've ever had my hair was silver (natural color = dark brown). my parents dyed my hair while i slept, as an april fools prank.
O_O... It wasn't permanent, was it? ....Though that would be fun. Then I could walk around prodding people with canes. Gah, I wish my parents would do that. Then I would've had some sort of excuse to give my director who told me not to change my hair colour before. ._.
  6. asdlkasjdalk in the past month, I've spent over $160 on my hair because I've just struck an odd fascination with dyeing my hair. The first time around, I was too scared to do it myself/have a friend go at it, so I paid an absurd amount to have it done at the salon... rather terribly. Then I had my best friend bleach my hair over [she'd owe me a cookie if she screwed up], and I left it blonde/orange for a day. After that, I applied the blue myself, and now, because the blue's starting to wash off, it's aqua, green, and blue. ._.; Er, of course, my natual hair colour's dark brown [being Asian is so exciting _._;]. It used to look really cool in the sun [something having to do with going to the beach often back then], but I grew tired of it, tried blonde highlights - which is overdone at my school, did it dark brown again, and then there was that whole chaotic situation this month. SO. Anyway. What unnatural [temporary/semiperm/permanent] hair colours have you had, what's your natural hair colour, and what colour is it now? And finally, pictures would be fun as well. =D -------------- Here's mine: [I couldn't take a picture of the salon muck-up because the odd aqua simply wouldn't show up and there'd be odd blotches of blonde left over.] ^ oMg z3e bLnd!1 ^ Zee bloo harr. Emergency!
I wa sin Florida round New Years, had a really bad cold(I had trouble breathing at all), and I snad Tourniquet. It cleared my sinuses so well I sang it everytime I started to get stuffed up again. XD Acid reflux is where acid from your stomach gets into your lungs. It has nothing to do with your throat.
 That is why [to my father's diappointment] I'll never go to medical school. [and the world will thank me for it.]
Citric acid doesn't clear phlegm at all. For one thing, the congestion is built in your sinus and upper resperatory tract, so unless you are literally inspireing the juice, the acid's doing jack. For a sore throat, you'll want to control coughing. The main problem with itchy or sore throats (for singers) is the insane desire to cough out the phlegm. DO NOT DO THIS. Coughing aggrivates the vocal chords and can cause further damage and irritation. 1)If you want to sooth your throat the most important thing you can drink is WATER. Try "cool" water, not "cold" water. 2)If you have a sore throat (don't do this before your performance) you should use cough drops with BENZOCAINE and to a lesser extent, Menthol. 3)Drink Cammomile tea... old theatre trick, day of the performance.
Cheers. =] Coughing has been a problem. The more I try to hold it back, the stronger it seems to come out later, and my ribs are killing me for it. I'll keep that in mind, anywho. I find it hard to cope with the flavour of chamomile, but I've got one teabag of it left from a few months ago which I'll try. Thanks for the tips! [I am replying a bit too much, I think. *stands by*]
Just repeating what the chorus teacher said!^^;; And yea my dad always suggests orange juice when I'm sick... but I don't think other juices are really all that great. I usually stick to water lots and lots of water. And sometimes I think Gatorade. Also I believe tea helps? not sure what kind though I don?t drink tea that often?
I love tea, but I know very well from experience that it's not best RIGHT before a performance. Thanks anywho. =D

    Emergency!
You're welcome, Juuness. Orange juice sounds like a good plan; it has the Vitamin C and the acid that will help to clear your throat. :) Yeah, my mom doesn't rely on medicine, either, because letting your body fight it off makes your immune system stronger. Yeah, I think junko had it switched around. Singing helps stuffy noses(especially singing Evanescence; ask me how I know.).
=O! Evanescence killed me during a performance two years ago. I believe I also caught a cold after that as well. 'My Immortal' and 'Tourniquet'. Bah. ¬¬ For a while I thought acid was actually bad for zee throat, since all these singers would complain about acid reflux giving them scratchy voices and such. But that comes from junk foods, right? o_o; Wellll either way, I'll have to take my dad out to get some orange juice. I am soo sick of lemonade.

    Emergency!
Dang, I hate strepp. FIrst: no milk. Milk is really bad if you are trying to sing, and so is mint tea. Coke or some type of soda with a lot of fizz is good right before a performance. I usually have to take medicine for strepp, so I don't know what is going on with that. Try not to talk to much if you don't have too; it will help your voice com eback quicker. Other than that, I can't help you. Of course, you could find a way to make yourself cry until you're very tired. That should clear your sinuses, and sleep always helps when your sick. :) Good luck, Juu-san.
Thanks! I've never thought about crying. For some odd reason, most of the DVDs I own have teary endings. I guess any of those'll do the trick. ^__^; *runs off for a diet coke*
Drink fluids and eat lots of vitamin C. That's what I always do whenever I have a cold. I don't know much about help with Strep Throat but my pollen allergies give me major runny noses. To help with a stuffed up nose I take Flonase and Claritin RediTabs ('cause I can't swallow pills:animeswea). Not sure if the Claritin is over the counter and I'm pretty sure the Flonase isn't but I'm sure there are other medicines you can get. Also just try going to your doctor to get some prescriptions. And drink lots and lots of fluids. That's really all I can say. Oh and (at least according to my school?s chorus teacher) stuffy noses really help with singing! Edit: Oh yea? sleep is good. Just take it easy and relax. Rest a lot and don?t do anything to physical.
Vitamin C, gotcha. I'm skeptical about whether or not fruit juice is good, though. I keep getting mixed reviews. Two of my friends always have grape/orange juice with them backstage, but hmm. I read somewhere else that it was terrible. Medicine would probably be a huge help. My dad's a doctor, but he's quite against relying on pills to feel better. [Plus I'm pretty much immune to tyrenol anyway _._] But yeah, everyone I know seems to be using Clairitin now. For the next few months, I'm willing to try anything. >>;; And yes, sleep is definitely good. Lately, I've had a lack of it. My throat was clearest the night before yesterday after the gig. Four hours of screaming cleared up my throat, strangely, and then it was back to mute-ness. Don't know about stuffy noses helping singing, though. I feel like a chipmunk.
  11. I was just sent home by my drama teacher [without asking/whining/begging] thanks to strep throatt. I've got a major role in our school play, and we've got all these national official people coming to our school to watch it for a special screening three weeks before the expected date! I haven't been able to speak for two weeks now [thanks to singing songs by Kittie six times in a row] and now my voice is just starting to come back, but now I've got a stuffy nose as well. I'm terrified that it won't be well enough by this Friday. And on top of that, our band's first rehearsals together are coming up this weekend and the songs require a bit of growling and falsetto. Urgh, complete murder. _._ Any suggestions/remedies? Lemon + honey isn't working for me, and I don't want to have to resort to my lastlast minute cup of vinegar or raw egg. >_
  12. I always end up doing most of the project myself, but because I choose to. For some reason, I feel this desperate need to do it myself and not risk having a lower score thanks to someone else. But if I'm positive that they're much better than me in a certain area, I let them do it. But usually, I get too easily frustrated to explain so aslkdaskj. And to fill in any uncomfortable pausing during presentations, I end up talking most, unless it's with Celia. I don't fancy group projects, though, unless we can split up research to one part of the group and artsy bits to another. I loathe the researching process, but it's a ton of fun designing the stuff and presenting. However, if it's one of those things where we each have to research and put it all together as a team, thennnn I don't like. Just frustrating - especially if I'm stuck in a group with someone as stubborn as me. Which isn't likely.
  13. Make a chart of all the bad things about them vs the positives and be as completely honest with yourself as possible. Even if on your chart, the positive points seem to outweigh the negatives, at least they'll be out in the open and help you convince yourself there's definitely someone better out there. That's what I did. ^___^;

  16. Yeehaw, mateys. I was neither. I remember disliking both for ages because they were filthy. Also, Lion King leik rawked my world for a good three or four years.
  17. Thank god only one person mentioned me. I couldn't do anything. I can't cook, my head isn't hard enough to bash coconuts with, probably wouldn't die from one shot, would be difficult to eat, and probably won't taste very good. I choose either the member who tastes best with bbq or is vegetarian. And I can translate anything from pirate to ghettol337. Yes.
  18.
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this movie yet. I'm really looking forward to one flick this summer, and that is going to be Kingdom of Heaven. It's about the First Crusade that took place. Mainly, it is about the moral decisions the knights had to make on their way. If you aren't up on your history, the Crusades were basically attempts to take back the 'Holy Land' (aka Antioch, Edessa, Tripoli, and Jeruselem) from the 'heathens' (Muslims). The Christian Pope at the time had recieved word that the 'Holy Land' was being corrupted by non-Christians. So he asked all Christians to rally up, and march to the 'Holy Land' and to free it from their control. Well, as the orginal army marched across Europe, more and more people joined it so it became larger and more varied. From ordinary townsfolk to even children, all were inspired by the Pope's speech. Well when they finally got there, they had laid siege to the city and after a day (Not sure how long it took for the city to fall) they had occupied it. They then slaughtered every soul who lived there; men, women, children, Muslim, Jew, and even the Christians who lived there. Anyways, the film is about 3 knights who are ordered by their liege to join the Crusade. They question whether it is right, and the basic morality of it all. When they get to Jeruselem, one of the knights (Orlando Bloom) is in awe of it's beauty. And at the end of the trailer describes it as the "Kingdom of Heaven". If I recall, the movie comes out in May. Looking forward to it!
mmmmmm... Orlando. I 'EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE'-d out loud at the cinema when this trailer caught me off guard. Otherwise not too interested in the film, though. I've just had enough of epics. >_> Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sounds like a blast. Tim Burton's an astounding director with this fascinating style, and I can't wait to see the twist he adds to this, and I'm anxious to see how it will compare to the original film. Star Wars of course. I'm a bit lost as to how it ended, though. It's been a year or two since I've watched the other films. The Interpreter, just because I'm in love with Nicole Kidman, and I'm intrigued by the trailer. Not a fan of Sean Penn, and he seems to be playing the same role in this film as most of his others, but eh, well. Ring 2... the first one didn't scare me very much at all. I did have an odd incident where I was watching it, and all of a sudden this loud 'THUMP' went off in my room and this blue light just flashed out of my room. Apparently, my mouse fell. [Oh how I
  19. I can't say I'd like to go vegetarian, but I'd really like to base my diet more around vegetables than meat. My best friend's family is Buddhist, and they have vegetables as the 'main course' with a very small portion of meat every day and every time I eat over, I just feel better. Plus, the way they cook it, it tastes very good. And it's not just like having raw salad daily. I definitely couldn't live like that. I find giving up foods for religious beliefs a bit silly, though. Just the thought of being smote down with a lightning fist for taking a bite out of a sandwich. But that's just me.
  20. I meant to dress up as Tifa one time, but erm... doesn't take very much. Cosplay is one of those things that people can get right at times or go terribly wrong. I went to Anime Expo a year or two ago, and saw some pretty and ...disturbing sights. I missed out on man-Faye last year with Shin, Arcadia, Karma, and the lot, though. As far as glomping goes, I glomped my favourite singer if that's anything. But then again, I didn't even know what 'glomp' meant until two months ago.
  21. Muse not coming on tour to San Francisco is one thing. *shiver* Otherwise, I'm terrified of one day becoming blind or deaf. Everything is beautiful, and I can't imagine living without art/music. Also losing my voice - I love singing. Having a limb amputated, like my hand would be quite terrible, too. I actually like my unreadable handwriting, and I'd be losing a way to express myself. [...and I'd be typing half as slow, leik OMG] Oh, and losing someone I love, of course. Then there's the whole thing of having frizzy hair again. I have to go all the way to Korea to get it straightened and after bleach/colouring my hair four times this month, I'm terrified. Worst bit is, if my director finds out that my hair is blue, I may get sacked from the show. ;_; Bugs... kinda. Only if they're sticking to me. Mosquitoes... I'd like to know the reason why they were put on earth. Heights are a killer, too. I had to bungee jump off trees. Thought that would help because that's something along the lines of what Orlando Bloom did to get over his fear of heights, but nope. Just couldn't feel my legs for a good three days.
