1. Most of my nicknames come from mispronunciations on first days of school or by substitute teachers. And we all know when they're at my name on roll call - not by who's before me and blahblah, but because they always squint and go 'wtf o.O;;'. So erm, my name is Dyne Juuthena Seo, and from there I get 'Dyneeey', 'Din', 'Diiiinner', 'Diner','Dymph', 'Dinosaur' (*shakes fist), 'Dyn-o-mite' (*cocks gun*), Juu, Juuness, juujuu, and etc. No titles or such besides 'husby' and 'sexy *** (as in donkey. Inside joke, I play Bottom in A Midsummer's Night Dream, haha.)'.
 2.
I, like Juuthena, am able to speak english and korean fluently, as well as Konglish, which is just mixing the two. It's strange because I've lived in the U.S. my entire 15 years and korean adults tell me how well I speak and the kids ask me if I came from Korea, but I just learned at a young age and I've watched lots of korean drama, which is actually good for you XP. I also went to Korean School at my church, as well as various places because my mother made me at such a young age. I also went to Korea in the summer and winter to visit my mother's side of the family. I actually went to Korea alone when I was only eight and people find that surprising. I suppose it is.[/size']
Haha. =D I haven't watched much Korean drama at all recently! My dad and I usually just sit around and count the amount of 'OPPPPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAA T_______T'-s there are. And in one of the episodes 'Chungook Eau Gehdahn', we counted approximately 32 'OPPPPPPPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAA'-s (or just an 'oppa') every minute! Gah, I always go to Korea alone, too. It's fun, though! My first time - when I was six, the stewardess-es gave me a lot of neat stuff, and I got to go up to first class. As for Korean church, blergh. A lot of the 'traditional' Korean families drive me insane. You know, the whole 'men with the men' 'wives with the wives' 'children with the children' deal. _._; EEEE. *glomps fellow Konglish-speaking ...person!*
 3.
I remember that year. You're thirteen and loving it, yet you want to be older. Much more like the older kids in your neighborhood, going out at night, staying up later, and the like. But on the topic, I wonder how old people think I am. Needless to say, I'm currently fifteen and will be sixteen as of February! W00T! Now, there are several people here that I did not think to believe to be younger than the age I thought they were to be. Now that I have read that, that sounds quite confusing. I meant to say I did not think that there were OB members who were older than how they wrote. I've always thought that Juuthena was 15, Ohkami was 15, Methuselah wrote as if she were either a child prodigy, an intelligent and witty adult, or someone who is a walking dictionary or poet, and many others I thought to be like that as well. I also agree with Juu. I know some older people who still type lyke this cuz its da bomb n dont u kno that writin lyke dis is da kool thing to do nowz? its toite dude! Such a waste, such a waste. I mean, I know I type like that on AIM, but not as much as I have done before! Oy, I feel sorry for these people. -______-
=O But I thought anyone born after 1989 can't drive until age 18 now... The longer Juu is kept off roads the longer zee world is safe. >.> Anyway, I would be 15 if I was still lying my age. I think the pure and simple reason why I'm not typing leIk dIs fOe sHo lEik dA rS7 oB mAh gHet7oEl337 hOmiEz a7 d4 piMpiN sCkOo iN dA fO On3 fIb bAyEe UhhReEuH sHiz wOt iNNiT AHAHHAAAHWTFOLOLX!11eleven!1 - is because Transtic Nerve scared the hell out of me after closing that first thread of mine. But then again, 'HEHEHE Figure dis out - Which caem first, da Namek or da egg? :tasty:' isn't exactly the best first impression to have. ...And HANG ON A MINUTE. You're 15??!?!? Holy !*)(!. I could've sworn you were older.
 4. I joined in V4 (three years ago when it hits May), after about a year of hanging around pokecheats.com and looking for Dragonball Z pictures. Before that, I visited this other Dragonball Z site called planetnamek. ...net/com something, and posted in their forums, but after it disappeared, I started frequenting the theOtaku chat. Then I joined the forums after finally noticing there was another button close to 'chat', and found myself here. ^__^; After about a year, I was 'banned' by family for a year then returned because I missed the people.
 5. I speak English and Korean fluently, and it's easiest for me when I can mix the two up. Other Korean families are often surprised I can speak Korean well, because I've lived in mainly English-speaking countries since I was three (and because I've refused to attend Korean school). So far, I've lived in Korea, America, Denmark, Germany, England, and Norway. (...Hmm, that's odd. I always thought it was just five, but I got my dad to list them all again, and it's six! X_X;') And because of that, I speak a little bit of Danish/Norweigian and German. But also because my dad's side is rather traditional, I've learnt a bit of Chinese and Japanese. I also took a semester of Japanese at school, but don't remember a thing when it comes to reading/writing it. I can count to seven in Spanish, but don't know if that counts for anything, lol. I'd love to learn French and Italian, though. =)
 6. First of all, if you're on a 52k modem, press stop NOW. Thank you. But indeed! =D We had to take a picture to represent a theme that meant a lot to us from certain books we'd been reading, and we were allowed to do more than one. Erm, I have another thread for this, but I ended up deleting a lot of pictures I posted in the thread from my DA account because I wasn't too fond of them. >.> So ANYway... Sorry if they're still crap, here's the first few I'm turning in for the assignment. ^__^; 'Define Normal' - Collaboration with my best friend Celia. 7.
I don't remember hearing about this at all. But let's assume it's true. I also read in the newspaper on Dec. 28th, that Saudi Arabia, at the time we had propose $35 million, were donating $10 million. OIL. OIL OIL OIL. The same goes for Qatar - OIL. The countries in the middle east that have oil are rolling in dough - they can definitely give a lot away. They make so much in oil it's not even funny. Their economy is also on the rise, while ours is in a freaking recession, so they can still afford to send the money.
But are you suggesting they're wealthier than America?... Also, it just so happens that there was a situation very similar to this earlier this summer. But of course, it was kept under wraps. Haiti (islands located about a puddle jump from Jamaica/Caribbean) were hit with massive storms during hurricane season in the summer of 2004. While the USA proposed (sorry, I had the number wrong the first time I mentioned this) six billion towards Florida + other states hit, with 20 dead, they sent $60,000 towards Haiti where they were digging mass graves for thousands of people dead. And yet, Venezuela even sent one million, as well as the European Union (1.8 million). After being criticised then, just as now, about the meagre contribution, they finally raised it to 2 million. Just another recent-ish situation I found interesting.
The thing I don't think some of you take into consideration was at the time of the quake, the inital death toll was around 7,000. Then it was 15,000, then 22,000, 50,000, 75,000, 100,000, 150,000 people and I think its still rising. We didn't decide to give this $15 million knowing 150,000 + people had died. At that time, it was only 7,000 people or so, and the property damaged hadn't even begun to be assessed. How can you expect America to just throw their annual revenue of, what was it - 5 billion, I think - to the countries of the disaster when nobody even knew the figures of devastation coming out of it? You know what? I bet if we did spend that much money on them it still wouldn't be enough for you people who think America needs to take care of everyone. I stand by what Drix says.
Well, we managed to spend six billion for the hurricanes. But I do take into consideration the human efforts being sent, and I'm very thankful. What I keep saying is, his FIRST reaction of 20 million - not 35 million (that was the second press conference) wasn't exactly a fantastic way for such a powerful country where families have their own private swimming pools to respond to a disaster which hit a country where people were many people are still starving. And I never said America needs to take care of everyone, but we need to treat others just as we would want under crisis. We are constantly being aided internationally, but CNN and NBC in particular don't seem to fancy making a big deal out of it until America proposes something 'greater'.
 8.
I'm bisexual, but in my circles, it doesn't mean that much. In fact, most of my friends are bisexual, and we consider all humans to be to some extent - that no one is purely heterosexual or homosexual, that there are shades of grey in between.
I've been thinking that, too, and I'd have to agree. It's rubbish how much it seems people need to divide themselves into 'groups' - am I straight? bi? gay?...etc. People have enough trouble trying to find themselves. Who they're attracted to comes naturally.
I dont know if it's been brought up, but homosexuality isn't a purely human thing, many species of animal also display behaviour of intergender relationships or sexual activities.
Indeed. *has seen proof* ...No need to get into that, though.
Ah yes, something I feel many people are blinded to by the standard unproven belief of "You should accept them for who they are". Homosexuality is a problem. Regardless of creed, race, anything. It is a virus to our society, and like a virus our society would do much better without it. The very concept of homosexuality has caused problems, for both the strait and the homosexual. Political problems, hate crimes, discrimination, topics on anime boards, all of that occurs because this one thing exists. If it weren't around, we would be much better off without it. Unfortunately we've been dealt a wild card in this situation, and it exists. So we have to put up with it in our own little ways. If it is somehow a genetic deformality, then find a cure ASAP. Psychological problem, tutoring (though people woudn't rest until they found some link to any sort of biological cause). Anyone who has taken sex-ed knows that things aren't supposed to work out this way. That's why you should get rid of something that no one wants, similar to how doctors/scientists developed medical technology to help cure blindness and psychological problems. You could say that homosexuality is part of their personaliity and you shouldn't get rid of it, but you could also say that ADHD and blindess are part of a persons personality.
As stated several times before, there is no 'cure' for homosexuality. It's not like one wakes up one brisk Saturday morning and decides "I wanna be gay today" or "Oh! Being gay looks fun! Why don't I give it a go?" It's hard enough on people who are gay to come out and tell their friends and family. I have a friend who's gay, and I didn't know until he told me. My favourite teacher is gay. You can ask anyone at school who has him, and they'll tell you he's their favourite teacher. Why? Because he's incredibly understanding, and a normal, sweet, funny person, and probably the nicest teacher I've ever had, and also a great friend to me. Psychological problem? I think not. Nobody calls him 'f-a-g' because they've learnt to respect and accept that small issue that doesn't involve us anyway. What does who you're attracted to and who you love have anything to do with your moral values? And for god's sake, as ChibiHorsewoman said, homosexuality is NOT like the flu. It's not contagious, you don't get 'infected', and people don't just 'turn' gay in an instant. ...Erm, at least the ones who don't 'come out' as a last resort for attention, which DOES happen, sadly. But ANYway. If you can say you can control who you have feelings for, then great. I've yet to meet a single person who says they can. But what's this about sex ed? Sex is sex. What's the point of having sex with someone you're not attracted to? Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I thought sex = making love. Leave them to be with who they want. Why do people feel the need to get into people's private lives - people they have never even seen before?
 9.
Now now, Mal. Let's not hate the President, good ol' George, he obviously hasn't got a bloody clue what's going on, poor guy. Getting a bad rap from everyone simply because he is the one who gets up there and (attempts) to read the speech in front of him. Now, you have to realise that he was a perfect president for the political party's purpose - ignorant, completely blind in fact, and so very malleable. It's not poor George's fault - he gets his pay packet and he gets to play with guns so he's happy - it's the guys behind him you have to look out for. Wolfowitz, Perl, Cheney, Rice, Powell... you know, the GANG. The ones who KNOW what they're doing, and get out there, and DO IT.... through the president, of course. And the President is probably a good guy at heart, if he'd ever been overseas, or ever been to war, maybe he'd get the full effect of what's going on. Not his fault though. That is the Republican Way. It's the American way, then too - while the republicans are in charge, that is. Drive that powerful economy at full throttle, balancing on the backs of the mass of poor and uneducated people who are the MOST patriotic, the MOST hard working. Essentially a communist nation this far gone would be the same thing - millions of poor Americans working hard for a rich few. And everyone knows war is great for the economy... so let's blow up everything that moves under the front of keeping this FANTASTIC NATION SAFE. Bloody hell, guys, you're safe enough. Just give me a minute to get my breath back. And so, in conclusion, I don't believe the American government is at all interested in foreign affairs - just money, power, and keeping it. For those who have read 1984, by another George, you will have probably realised that we are already caught in an "unwinnable war" (if that is a word). "War against terrorism" - it's not only unable to be won, it's a #'ing paradox! There is nothing to be afraid of, except retaliation against your own country's brutality and lack of compassion towards the rest of the world. And perhaps we should have donated money BEFORE the tsunami, to raise the standard of living, so that there wouldn't be as many people there in the first place? It hit one of the most densely populated areas on the planet - perhaps not as many people would have died if that wasn't the case. And that IS something us toffynosed countries can help.
Hi. I
 10.
And of course, I do want to meet up with Juuthena, so we can discuss how crappy our hair is, and so she can show me around San Fran. - the cool beans place where I can say "OMG - there's an Asian! And that's an Asian too!!11"
=O! That would be a blast. We'd be busy out of our brains, though. X_X; The amount of Asians in SF is... mindboggling.
 11.
I was simply saying that it is not human nature to do what is right. We try our best to do what is right for the world because we have the power to, unlike otehr countries.
Since when does inside which borders you live in effect where a vast majority stands and acts on moral issues as 'big' as what's right and wrong?
Your right, the disaster in Asia deserves more attention, but when did it become our sole problem to deal with? We are sending 1/3 of the money we sent to Florida there. That money will never benefit America. The 1 Billion for Florida did. The world is now giving around a billion, and it's not going to benefit us one bit. Florida was more important to us because it is a part of us. 1 billion is 1/1,000 of our total national budget for the whole year.
Whoa, so because it doesn't benefit us, 155,000+ human beings, something I'd expect has more importance than a nationality, it shouldn't be taken into consideration as much as something that happened to people who happen to reside on the same patch of land? I think you need to look at this from another point of view. Imagine if this happened in America. I bet my life that we wouldn't expect the other countries to sit there and let us starve because their own affairs are 'more important' to them. We're talking about people dying because of a natural disaster. Not a war. A war is based on politics, politicians, close-mindedness, military, and unfortunately, civillians. A natural disaster HAPPENS, yet people are dead. This wasn't between the countries hit and a nation, it was between human beings and the force of nature. Human beings need to help human beings. You can't put this on a 'list' with matters that involve a nations benefit. It hit regardless of nationality, and Americans died there too, as well as from other nations.
It was an example. Most of the other countries are poor, too.
I'll just refer to my edit: Also, I assume that means that the next time America is in desperate need of international help, countries like Sri Lanka should send the amount one good house costs there?
So now we must deliver the boxes by land instead of air? We get the boxes where we need to faster. It could take an hour to drop 50 boxes by air, or deliver 5 by truck. Who cares how they get there, as long as they do?
.......Riiiiiiiiiiight. That's like saying only the strong and able should survive because of this. We can let the elderly who are homeless and hungry starve and die, right? By the only footage of American support news channels were showing, they just threw the boxes off helicopters and men ran below to catch boxes and run off with them. Maybe I missed something more formal, then.
Since when did America threaten to attack someone out of hostility?
I'll just pretend the war on Iraq never happened.
 12.
It's a little bit different. We were the ONLY ones going to pay for Florida. When was the last time we got aid from another country?
Well, let's see. 20 people, give or take, were killed by the hurricanes in Florida. 155,000 people, give or take, were killed by the tsunami + aftershocks. Hmm. I wonder which calls for more attention?
And about a million in Sri Lanka. You see, Sri Lanka is one of the poorest countries in the world, and their money is borderline worthless. Everything is very cheap there.
What ever happened to the quote 'It's the thought that counts'? Not to mention, Sri Lanka was most definitely not the only country hit by the tsunamis. Here's a map in case. Also, I assume that means that the next time America is in desperate need of international help, countries like Sri Lanka should send the amount one good house costs there?
But it is the most efficient. With thousands of tons of food going to the people, we simply can't hand deliver the food to everyone. That would cost money and manpower, and since we have most of our resources in Iraq, Kosovo, Chechnia, etc. it is impossible.
I don't think that should call for hurling boxes out of a helicopter like the people have some sort of terrible contagious disease. Sure, there's a ton of people in need, and I'm not expecting them to prance door-to-door with provisions, but it doesn't exactly go to show the best amount of sympathy to feed them like dolphins.
It doesn't matter who has the most. You could have 100 AK47s with 500-round canisters all around, but if a child has one with 5 bullets, you will still take it from him. Even if we have more, that doesn't make theirs any less deadly.
Since when is America that 'saviour'? Then shouldn't America be deprived of its 300 or-so weapons as well? If that's the case, then I'll say all's fair.
 13.
I agree with absolutely Morpheus. You see, the difference between America and the rest of the world is that we know what is right and we do what we know is right. The problem is, most countries don't want to do what's right, it's human nature. Why do we drink? because it feels good, we don't want to think about kidney failure or anything, we just live for the moment. Just a little comparison to the world.
...Please tell me you're being sarcastic.
 14.
Dead wrong. If you feel that your country is heading in the wrong direction, the ultimate act of patriotism is pouring your heart and soul into setting things right.
I agree wholeheartedly. It's like a parent. Which is the better parent, one who sits back, allowing their child to do bad things and simply saying the child is doing their best to be a good person, or to sit down and talk to them about what they're doing wrong, and try to advise (not force) them in the right direction? And really, are we trying our best? After the tsunami hit, world leaders rushed to help after the disaster. What does our dearly beloved president do? He resumes with his Christmas vacation. And then what? He proposes 20 MILLION. That's just about enough to buy a really nice house in Palo Alto. While, on the other hand, individual organizations in Europe alone are able to raise 70 million, and even a country as small as South Korea proposes 30 million - 10 million more than the United States. And yet, after the hurricanes hit Florida, Bush proposed 2 billion? And I'm not too happy about the way they're distributing the food, as shown on CNN. Tossing boxes of food like mardi gras beads out of a helicopter doesn't seem like the best way to distribute food to people who are homeless after a disaster. As for North Korea, why shouldn't they have anything against the US? Didn't Bush include their country in the 'Axis of Evil'? And that was RIGHT as North and South Korea were speaking seriously about reunification. Families were allowed to meet for the first time in fifty years on the border, and they were sending peace performances by children and popular singers to the other country. But I don't understand why the US is so concerned with such small countries having weapons of mass destruction. After all, which country owns the most?
 15.
Akward at first (yar, I've been there :p), but once we get used to our offline personalities, things get a lot more relaxed.
Gah, yes indeed. I was so shy with Josh and Tori. ...and quiet. >>; And then, for some odd reason, I was incredibly relaxed when I met Ger. Hopefully that's a permenant thing for future online meeting-age.
 16.
I've noticed nowadays that teenagers tend to be retards, too.
Haha. No argument. =P I can't really answer either one as a 'unit', because I usually tend to stick to one best friend and a small circle of close friends I truly trust, and a broader group of friends I don't tell secrets to, but wouldn't mind hanging out with and such. Usually, though, I'm with that one best friend, and we're like sisters. ...Or um. Brothers. o_O; However, I'm extremely close to my parents. They give me great advice, and don't pressure me to 'choose' between spending time with them or with a friend (well, mainly because they're divorced), and they have their equal time to spend with their friends, and I have mine. But I won't go so far as to say my entire family, because my relations aren't at a consistant 'level' because of the divorce issue and such, and some of them have put me through some really tough times because of it. I don't know, you get a few 'pluses' and 'negatives' from friends and the same deal with family. It's really not too easy to really figure out which you value most. Plus, I consider some of my cousins as extremely close friends anyway. So erm. There's my little ramble there. >>
 17. eeeee! ^_^ Well, so far, I've met Red/Ger (London), Queen Asuka/Tori (Ice cream place), Shy/Josh and Yoshi (Anime Expo 2003)! They were all fun meetups, and I was hoping to go to Anime Expo 2004 but erm, *was on another continent* Blergh. -_- But I plan on pouncing AJeh, Syn/Kaisuke/Kenji/Marc (=P), Liiiiiam, Shinmaru, Alan, Mimmi, Solo, Weh/Break, DeathKnight/Ken, Lea, Charles, hEvN, Reise, Baron/Josh and Roxie sometime/some....how in the future! ...Erm. Somehow. But I shall be meeting up with Ger/Red again sometime this Spring/Summer, and hopefully I can make my way up to Manchester if I can arrange to be in England for a week and pounce AJ and Marc there, and whilst I'm in London, I can also go and erm, glomp random men who look like Ger or Solo. *runs off*
 18. The Geico commercials and 90% of car commercials are hilarious. ...because they're so terrible/irrevelant of what they're selling.
 19. Moulin Rouge: Gah, just perfection. The casting was perfect, and I fell in love with a number of actors from this film. I love Baz Luhrman's style, and the way he presents each of these scenes and moments using subtle details and hints along the way so the audience is constantly reminded of the film's ending, though we're all brought to this climax of feeling happy for these characters before an unfortunate event. Oh, and the soundtrack. ^_^ Come What May's the only original song there, I think, and I love it. Just a beautiful film overall. Romeo + Juliet: Also by Baz Luhrman. I love the casting here as well, though I'm not a *huge* fan of the way Claire Danes read her lines. I think Tybalt (John Legu...asdjalkj...zimo) and Mercutio gave particularly great performances, and Leonardo DiCaprio made a surprisingly good Romeo. I just love how well adapted this is, and again with the director's style. Brilliance. =) And as for number three.... it's actually a three-way tie between White Oleander, Thirteen, and Big Fish. No, wait, make that four. Love Actually's fun also. *dodges tomatoes*

 23. Gah, I missed an entire month of school after getting hypothermia, then the flu, and then an ear infection....etc. It wasn't *too* terrible, but every time I started feeling better and could go outside, I fell right back in bed ill again, and aksdjlaskj not fun. Not to mention, it's not fun having your weight shift a ton after being in bed so much, eh. =x Drink lots and lots of water. Tea is especially good for zee throat.
 24.
Not too surprising to me. This board attracts such people at quite a steady pace- Juu is an example, she has been posting at a pretty high quality for a few eons now.
Aww, thanks ya sir. *hugs* =D I went through my archives and had a chill fit, though. If my first thread isn't the prime example of l33tn00bishness, I don't know what is. >.>; AH and the RPGs. ....Terrifying. But indeed. Quite a few people join with very high quality posts.
 25. Most of my dreams revolve around someone I love getting into a car crash, me making out with someone, or a very un-unusual situation with some extremely weird twist - usually involves curtains somewhere. But then, the minorities are really bizarre. Just last night, I had a dream where evil Pokemon were taking over the world, so we had to get all of our gameboys together and destroy them using 'good' pokemon, only not many gameboys existed anymore and gamecubes didn't have the 'power'. *shrug* >.>; Third time I had that dream, only the other two, gamecubes did work at some point. THIS time, I was talking to the UN about how we need to stop these evil beings using gameboys, with this... authority person agreeing, and someone popped up nodding - and it turned out to be my friend telling me to wake up and askdjaslkdj. Oh! I get chased around quite often, too. Always goes in slow motion. I heard having nightmares had something to do with having a lot of weight lying on your chest/stomach when you sleep.
